Wow!! High hopes, I guess too high. Small roll!! Similae to a hotdog size. The lobster was overcooked and a bit chewy but the gluten free bread was absolutely inedible. The website is wrong on the pricing, the awful gluten free bread cost $3:50!!!! I've had some bad gluten free bread over the years, but this was by far the worst!!! Hard, crumbly and tasteless. I would not recommend this to a gluten free person. Guessing for $30 they could do better!!

We went to Lobster West after seeing it featured on a local telecast. You place your order and pay at the podium at the front of the restaurant, then sit wherever you like. You also bus your own table after you are finished eating. The restaurant is small, with a laid back atmosphere and upbeat music. The food overall was good - we ordered the Maine event (full lobster, crab, and shrimp rolls). The star of the show was definitely the bread, which was nicely toasted and buttery. The rolls are served Maine-style with cold lobster that is seasoned well. The lobster bisque, however, was a bit bland and thin. There is plenty of parking in the lot surrounding the restaurant. A bit of a quirk is that the restroom is located at the back of the restaurant and requires you to walk around the building for access. All in all, Lobster West was a nice stop for a quick eat.

Been hearing about this place for years and I was in the area for an appointment, so decided to spot by. I oredered the regular lobster roll on gluten free bread (additional $3.5) and a side of coleslaw and drink for additional $5. Service is ordering at the door and they bring it to you. Spending more than $30 on a lobster roll and coleslaw and drink you think that it would be more sizable and the coleslaw cup full, but the cup was only 3/4 full. When he brought out the food I had a shocked Pikachu face. I even asked out loud if the normal one was larger and said this was tiny. I was expecting more for the price. $$$$ for what you get. I wanted to really love this place. :(

You had me at lobster! Just as delicious as I remember it! This place is so good and warm lobster roll on a golden toasted buttery roll always hits the spot. They have a private parking lot so you aren't searching for parking.

Delicious lobster roll, clam chowder, and crab roll! Everything was so yummy! Location was right on the strip near some other cool places!

I love lobster but this place in Encinitas is not a great representation of what lobster is all about. I did pay $9.60 for 1.2 oz and it was chalky and flavorless.

Was blessed to be invited here with a gift card. Ordered a cup of Clam Chowd'a! Very good!! (Young man forgot to give me oyster crackers) but he did when I asked if they had any. Went CT style for the roll. Have been to Boston, and CT for New England authentic, this was the best in the west. Remember our Lob's have know claws here in SD, so when I saw that on my roll, it made me happy. Slaw was a side and it was perfect slaw.

#ThankYou for another year of great lobster rolls! Always a treat coming here for take-away and then picnicking at Moon Light Beach.

Had a craving for crab cakes. And I'm talking real crab cakes heree-- I don't want to be paying for bread crumbs and cakey coatings. I want CRAB!! This spot didn't disappoint. The crab was naturally sweet and the seasons were light. I like it with the lemon juice on top, but I think they need to give more tartar sauce. The mixed lettuce I really didn't care for. I'm not sure why it came with a salad, I think another crab cake would have been nice. This lettuce wasn't even the good lettuce -- it was spikey and bitter. (I might be born in the year of the rabbit, but I am not a rabbit!). There was NO dressing on it, what??? We had to order at the front of the establishment, there were already utensils and napkins on the table. It was a clean place, there were little signs reminding you that you had to bus your table. So this is a pretty casual place. They also have lobster rolls which my aunt said were delicious and graciously filled. The bread was nicely toasted and buttered. The lobster was freshly taken from the shells. She also had the clam chowder and while she couldn't finish it...she added the fallen lobster bits from her roll to the chowder. Pop. Mind blown! This is a good spot for lunch, recommend it!

Classic lobster roll with scoop of clam chowder

Came here for lunch on a Sunday, and there was no wait. You place the order then find a seat. I got the classic lobster roll with a scoop of clam chowder for the Yelp check in. It was supposed to be a free scoop, but it was just $4.50 off, so you just have to pay $0.5. The lobster roll was solid. I asked for it warm since that's my preference. They warned me that it would not be as tender if it was warmer so some pieces were a little chewier. The bread was nicely toasted and buttered.

The lobster rolls at Lobster West are some of my favorite food I have had in all my time in SoCal. I've been coming here for 6 years, and it truly never disappoints! The lobster is so well-seasoned, the bread is buttery and delicious, and the lobster bisque makes the perfect dipping sauce for your roll (if that is something you are into). On a past visit, my boyfriend and I got the flight of rolls (1 crab, 1 shrimp, and 1 lobster) and the flight of soups and we had one of the best meals we've ever had together. The space is fairly casual, and the people working there are very friendly. Overall a 10/10 experience every time!

My fiance and I stopped here while we were walking the main street of ensenada's. I haven't been here in a few years, and it was at the Coronado location. it's a fairly small inside spot, so we sat outside also because they're not dog friendly inside, and we had our dog with us. I didn't recall it being so pricey, I paid $106 for two boss lobsters in a bisque. I felt overpriced for the lack of ambiance and casual dining service, which receipts facing the parking lot. the quality of the lobster was good, but the flavor was very subpar. the bread was also significantly disappointing, I feel like the bread of a lobster roll makes or breaks the overall dish, and unfortunately, it tasted old stale and lacked tlc. the service is really nice. unfortunately, the rest of my experience was not good. I thank you got quality Lobster but the flavors are not there, the place locks Ambiance or decent environment, especially for a meal that's over $100 for two people.

I grabbed an Uber after work on a Thursday and headed north 11 miles. As I arrived at the Fish Shop, I could smell the goodness inside and saw the line waiting to order. The restaurant is on one side, with an open bar on the other. Ordering is as simple as 1, 2, 3. Pick your fish, pick how you want to consume it (plate, sandwich, salad), and pick your sides and drink. I went with my work colleagues recommendation of a blackened sea bass sandwich with onion rings and a Marg. That choice was FANTASTIC!!! You seat yourself once you order and place the buzzer given to you by the counter person on the unit on your table. Although busy, there were still tables available (bar and restaurant, plus out front). As the NBA playoffs were on, I sat inside. Everyone working here was friendly and as I already stated... my meal was the best I had on this San Diego visit. A bonus was a gorgeous sunset just 3 blocks down from the shop. I will be back to Encinitas Fish Shop when I next visit San Diego.

I moved to North County and a few years later they opened Encinitas fish shop. I have been for the oysters in the past but it had been a long time. I looked it up to make sure they still had oyster night and sure enough they do. The price is now $1.25 but that still feels like a good deal. They had 4 different types to choose from. There was only about 7 people in front of me when I got in line including a family. There was an older couple ordering and it took about 20 minutes for them to complete their transaction. The rest of the line moved ok after they were done, but I probably waited about 40 minutes just to order. I ordered 3 of each kind, a dozen. Then I went to get water. They were out of ice. I sat in the window seating and waited. It took a bit, but it was a nice day so I didn't mind too much. A girl came out calling names but it was very difficult to hear her. I finally heard my name and she dropped off my oysters. I asked for more cocktail sauce and she left to get it. She brought it back but immediately left and never told me which oysters were which. I had to flag down another employee and he told me which oysters were which. In the past, I haven't liked some of the choices, but this time they had a whole different selection and I liked all of them! They were so good and fresh. I don't know why I waited so long to return. There was a long line - this place is so popular - but thankfully the line didn't take very long. Grab our order number and find a seat and just wait for the food to come out. I was worried the food would take a while because so many people were there. The food came quickly, so there was no issue. I got a bivuoac berry cider which was delicious and very drinkable. I opted for some clam chowder, rocket salad, and the seafood curry as well. The clam chowder was delicious and creamy. Not TOO rich and not too salty. The rocket salad was pretty standard. I don't order any fish with it since I was ordering so many items already and I didn't want to be too full! Just wanted to add some veggies to my meal. The seafood curry had some great flavor. I was a bit surprised that the curry was more of a soup consistency. I was expecting a thicker and more saucy consistency but it was still good. I think it could've been a bit more flavorful. I liked the fish, shrimp, and veggies in the curry and I loved that they cooked the fish perfectly. It was nice and soft and had a delicious char on it.
