Fabulous poke shop in Encinitas! Very easy parking. Perficient and friendly service. Great quality fish and portions. Be sure to check out their happy hour! Cool seating deck as well.

Hamachi Kama Bowl, came with an egg roll and vegetable goyza

I have to update my rating, minus a star, actually should be two stars for the subpar sushi rice, which was chewy and not cooked correct correctly on the Poké bowl. The Hamachi collar was overly fried and dry; texture was too dry. Fish is always fresh here we like the salmon and the Hamachi. We like the sides. I wish they would add some Japanese pickles like dikon or pickled ginger or any of the pickled vegetables that would be a plus. Service is always great and friendly but tonight, Hamachi collar was just overcooked over fried and too and dry rice was undercooked or just dry and chewy.

    Pole bowl. So good.

I thought I had tried every poke place within 20 miles but I obviously missed this fantastic spot. Personally, I prefer buying poke straight from a fish market, without any rice or veggies or whatever. But if it must be in a bowl, so be it. This may be the best poke bowl place in North County. The poke itself is extremely fresh and delicious. The veggies are also crazy fresh. I am not sure I have ever had better or fresher edamame or cucumbers. The sushi rice is also real sticky sushi rice, not just white rice. The attention to detail here is outstanding. Like others have said, the marinated tuna is particularly good. The salmon is also very nice. You can build your own bowl or select from one of their own creations. The so-called "small" bowl gets you two proteins and the portions of the toppings you add are very generous. My small bowl easily weighed three pounds. They also offer a handful of Hawaiian plate lunch-style dishes, like chicken katsu. We tried the chicken teriyaki plate with macaroni salad and it was very nice and comes with an egg roll and gyoza. Again, the portions are generous. The interior shop is small but very clean. They also have an outside patio with cornhole, believe it or not. OUTSTANDING poke bowls.

Wanted poke to eat in the car on the drive home and found this place on Yelp. All sizes offered are done by using the same size bowl but different number of protein scoops. I thought that was kind of weird because the proportions would be off with five scoops of protein and same amount of rest of food in bowl. Regardless, I got everything except for jalapeños and salmon only as the protein. Got the citrus ponzu as the dressing and I don't recommend this alone as it was very sour and not balanced. Next time I'll mix two different sauces to give depth and a bit more flavor. Prices for bowls were $15.50 2 protein scoops, $17.50 3 scoops, $20.50 5 scoops. You can either get a bowl or burrito. Base would be brown rice, sushi rice or salad. The place was not packed, I was the only customer so it was very quick. Restrooms available.

Wow I am glad I found this poke place. The portions are HUGE, the fish tastes fresh and the service is excellent. I will definitely come back!

    Happy hour

We got the medium bowl and it was enough food for me and my 9 yr old. The marinated tuna and salmon was fresh and yummy as well as the sides. The service was excellent and they had good suggestions. We liked that it had a nice patio area with cornhole.

I stopped here the other day to satisfy my craving for a poke bowl. To be honest, it's been years since I've had one. I was in the area and saw Poke Chop had great reviews. I walked in and was immediately greeted. I was helped right away. I ordered a medium bowl with salmon, seared ahí, and tuna. There are so many toppings to choose from. As others have mentioned, it is pricey. However, they do not skimp on the fish. I can't wait to bring my husband as he is also a fan of poke. I'm sure he will love Poke Chop as well.

My MIL and wife went to Poké Chop on a Sunday and we're able to get happy hour pricing which was awesome. We just got back from Hawaii so I was expecting lower quality food compared to what I was eating on the island. I was wrong. The katsu was HEAVENLY and my family REALLY enjoyed their meals as well. Great place to go if you want a taste of paradise!

My favorite stop on my recent trip to the San Diego area…read more Encinitas Fish Shop was recommended by one of my local SD work colleagues. I grabbed an Uber after work on a Thursday and headed north 11 miles. As I arrived at the Fish Shop, I could smell the goodness inside and saw the line waiting to order. The restaurant is on one side, with an open bar on the other. Ordering is as simple as 1, 2, 3. Pick your fish, pick how you want to consume it (plate, sandwich, salad), and pick your sides and drink. I went with my work colleagues recommendation of a blackened sea bass sandwich with onion rings and a Marg. That choice was FANTASTIC!!! You seat yourself once you order and place the buzzer given to you by the counter person on the unit on your table. Although busy, there were still tables available (bar and restaurant, plus out front). As the NBA playoffs were on, I sat inside. Everyone working here was friendly and as I already stated... my meal was the best I had on this San Diego visit. A bonus was a gorgeous sunset just 3 blocks down from the shop. I will be back to Encinitas Fish Shop when I next visit San Diego.

I moved to North County and a few years later they opened Encinitas fish shop. I have been for the oysters in the past but it had been a long time. I looked it up to make sure they still had oyster night and sure enough they do. The price is now $1.25 but that still feels like a good deal. They had 4 different types to choose from. There was only about 7 people in front of me when I got in line including a family. There was an older couple ordering and it took about 20 minutes for them to complete their transaction. The rest of the line moved ok after they were done, but I probably waited about 40 minutes just to order. I ordered 3 of each kind, a dozen. Then I went to get water. They were out of ice. I sat in the window seating and waited. It took a bit, but it was a nice day so I didn't mind too much. A girl came out calling names but it was very difficult to hear her. I finally heard my name and she dropped off my oysters. I asked for more cocktail sauce and she left to get it. She brought it back but immediately left and never told me which oysters were which. I had to flag down another employee and he told me which oysters were which. In the past, I haven't liked some of the choices, but this time they had a whole different selection and I liked all of them! They were so good and fresh. I don't know why I waited so long to return. I'll definitely be back for more soon!
