Fabulous poke shop in Encinitas! Very easy parking. Perficient and friendly service. Great quality fish and portions. Be sure to check out their happy hour! Cool seating deck as well.

We were craving Poke, but we were away from the Poké Chop . We ordered through Uber Eats to make sure we received before they close the shop. Poke Chop serves Hawaiian poke bowls. You can build your own bowl or burrito. You choose the base which is either sushi rice, brown rice, salad, or burrito. Next, you choose preferred sides, then yout choices of protein. Finally sauces and toppings. They also have chicken katsu, gyoza, fried Calamari, and their specialties. We got five scoops poke bowls, fried Calamari, and macaroni salad. The poke bowl was very fresh, savory, and really delicious. They added generous quantity of base, protein and toppings. Their macaroni salad was creamy, rich and flavorful. Fried Calamari was crispy and well seasoned. We had a great dinner. My review is mainly for the food. Everything was well packe. Next time, I will stop by Poké Chop to get the whole experience.

I have to update my rating, minus a star, actually should be two stars for the subpar sushi rice, which was chewy and not cooked correct correctly on the Poké bowl. The Hamachi collar was overly fried and dry; texture was too dry. Fish is always fresh here we like the salmon and the Hamachi. We like the sides. I wish they would add some Japanese pickles like dikon or pickled ginger or any of the pickled vegetables that would be a plus. Service is always great and friendly but tonight, Hamachi collar was just overcooked over fried and too and dry rice was undercooked or just dry and chewy.

    Pole bowl. So good.

I thought I had tried every poke place within 20 miles but I obviously missed this fantastic spot. Personally, I prefer buying poke straight from a fish market, without any rice or veggies or whatever. But if it must be in a bowl, so be it. This may be the best poke bowl place in North County. The poke itself is extremely fresh and delicious. The veggies are also crazy fresh. I am not sure I have ever had better or fresher edamame or cucumbers. The sushi rice is also real sticky sushi rice, not just white rice. The attention to detail here is outstanding. Like others have said, the marinated tuna is particularly good. The salmon is also very nice. You can build your own bowl or select from one of their own creations. The so-called "small" bowl gets you two proteins and the portions of the toppings you add are very generous. My small bowl easily weighed three pounds. They also offer a handful of Hawaiian plate lunch-style dishes, like chicken katsu. We tried the chicken teriyaki plate with macaroni salad and it was very nice and comes with an egg roll and gyoza. Again, the portions are generous. The interior shop is small but very clean. They also have an outside patio with cornhole, believe it or not. OUTSTANDING poke bowls.

Wanted poke to eat in the car on the drive home and found this place on Yelp. All sizes offered are done by using the same size bowl but different number of protein scoops. I thought that was kind of weird because the proportions would be off with five scoops of protein and same amount of rest of food in bowl. Regardless, I got everything except for jalapeños and salmon only as the protein. Got the citrus ponzu as the dressing and I don't recommend this alone as it was very sour and not balanced. Next time I'll mix two different sauces to give depth and a bit more flavor. Prices for bowls were $15.50 2 protein scoops, $17.50 3 scoops, $20.50 5 scoops. You can either get a bowl or burrito. Base would be brown rice, sushi rice or salad. The place was not packed, I was the only customer so it was very quick. Restrooms available.

Literally the best poke I've had aside from Hawaii! Came to SD on a 3 day vacation and came here twice. Huge portions too!

Wow I am glad I found this poke place. The portions are HUGE, the fish tastes fresh and the service is excellent. I will definitely come back!

    Happy hour

We got the medium bowl and it was enough food for me and my 9 yr old. The marinated tuna and salmon was fresh and yummy as well as the sides. The service was excellent and they had good suggestions. We liked that it had a nice patio area with cornhole.

My favorite stop on my recent trip to the San Diego area…read more Encinitas Fish Shop was recommended by one of my local SD work colleagues. I grabbed an Uber after work on a Thursday and headed north 11 miles. As I arrived at the Fish Shop, I could smell the goodness inside and saw the line waiting to order. The restaurant is on one side, with an open bar on the other. Ordering is as simple as 1, 2, 3. Pick your fish, pick how you want to consume it (plate, sandwich, salad), and pick your sides and drink. I went with my work colleagues recommendation of a blackened sea bass sandwich with onion rings and a Marg. That choice was FANTASTIC!!! You seat yourself once you order and place the buzzer given to you by the counter person on the unit on your table. Although busy, there were still tables available (bar and restaurant, plus out front). As the NBA playoffs were on, I sat inside. Everyone working here was friendly and as I already stated... my meal was the best I had on this San Diego visit. A bonus was a gorgeous sunset just 3 blocks down from the shop. I will be back to Encinitas Fish Shop when I next visit San Diego.

There's a chill yet elegant vibe to this place so feel free to dress up or be a bit more casual. In the evening, the lights dim and give it a romantic feel. The service was great and the food was DELICIOUS! If you're sober living, no problem! They have really good canned mocktails but trust, they're no ordinary canned drinks. They taste really good!! We ordered: miso soup and chicken gyozas as appetizers and the 5 hand roll set, Emo Brown Roll and blue crab hand roll for the meal. We had some of the sweet and spicy sauce left over from the gyozas and I used it on my spicy tuna roll and it was such a delicious combo! Overall, HIGHLY RECOMMEND! The executive chef Sebastian was also super down to earth and really cool! The Emo Brown Podcast brought us to this location and we will def be back and bring our family and friends to check it out.

The place has a large central bar with a few tables around the periphery as well as a few outside on the sidewalk. The decor is clean and modern and the place has a vibey feel. Not exactly sure how to rate this place. If rating it as a bar primarily that also has decent sushi, I'd give it five stars. If rating it as a sushi bar I'd give it three stars. All of the sushi that I had (nigiri, cut rolls and hand rolls) were good but nothing special. If you're looking for a great sushi experience, this is likely not the place. They have a small selection of Japanese and local craft beers as well as bottled and tap sake. I originally characterized the service as slow and inattentive. But looking at it from the perspective of a bar, it was casual and friendly in the slow way you'd expect for hanging out in a bar and socializing or watching sports.

I was kind of bummed that I was the only person dining for lunch, they honestly deserve a crowd. The food and service was 10/10. I already knew that I wanted to order the Khao Soi because I had looked up their menu and pictures way before coming in and it looked like their specialty. I ordered an iced jasmine green tea as well and chose a table to sit at. The woman who took my order was really nice and helpful with ordering. My food didn't take long to come out, and it was DELICIOUS. This was my first time trying this dish so I didn't know what to expect but it was everything and more. It was topped with what I think was fried onion and chili crisp as well for some added spice. The tea was also so delicious, the crushed ice they use is my favorite. The tea was garnished with an orange slice and my toddler decided to much on it. The woman who took my order noticed my daughter eating the orange slice and she brought me out a couple more on the side. You really don't experience that level of customer service anymore, so it was such a sweet gesture. They have a lot of other things on their menu that I would love to come back and try.
