The woman who owns this restaurant (along with her husband, she told us) made it a point to stop by our table twice while we dined and make sure we were enjoying our meals. She even took the time to explain all the pictures on the wall to us! This seems to be a popular hangout for celebrities and politicians that make their rounds through the area. I ordered the Eggs Benedict for myself with Taylor Ham instead of Canadian bacon. The eggs were poached perfectly on top, but I wasn't crazy about the hollandaise sauce they used, as I did think it lacked in flavor. Something else to note is that they don't crisp up the Taylor Ham here -- maybe it's a Jersey thing to expect that! -- so if I do return, I'll ask for it crispy next time. My meal came with mixed greens and while the spring mix was fresh, the Goddess dressing it came with was much too acidic to fully enjoy it. I'll also add that it's a bit cramped inside. They're doing well with social distancing the tables, but if you stand up, you're still likely to be right in the way of waitresses trying to get by in the single-person aisles between booths. read more

I haven't been at Billy's in a while so we returned a party of nine. They were very nice to actually book for nine with no problem. One thing is true. You must have your nine people present before they sit you down and I get it but nothing is perfect. Somethings happen. Some people are parking but at the same time the service was fabulous. I can't even imagine the hard work and the Will, the whole staff, the chefs, the waitress the host everything was just right on point this place does a magnificent job creating a really comfort environment for you. Delicious and the only downfall was I wish I had more. Their sweet breakfast options are too good to pass up. The Tonga toast was filled with fresh fruit and doesn't even need syrup. I was in Bethlehem for a wedding recently and came across Billy's Diner while googling nearby places to grab brunch. We got to Billy's around 11 am on a Saturday and it was bustling. There was a short wait for a table for 2, so we opted to sit at the counter which was totally fine. It allowed us to see the action of the kitchen and talk to the servers. My boyfriend even got to meet Billy himself. Billy's menu features several sweet pancake & French toast creations and also savory items like the sirracha bowl and Huevos rancheros (only avail on weekends). I was in the mood for savory & sweet so I got the Billy Kristo sandwich with a side of home fries. Sandwich was huge (did not finish it all) and tasty. I did finish all of the home fries! This used to be our go-to for breakfast on the weekends but the place went from very good to just average so we moved on to other breakfast joints. We decided to give it a go again this morning and were disappointed. The food was still average and expensive. The breakfast sandwich came without breakfast potatoes. With my omelet there was no choice of toast - Texas toast was it - and my iced tea was $4!!!! There's no reason to price gouge on the tea. What made this experience even worse was the service. After taking our order we couldn't get our server to refill drinks and it took almost 30 minutes from the time we ordered until we received our meal, even as there was no obvious staffing issues. Sadly, what used to be a food highlight of Bethlehem has become just another mediocre restaurant that is more reputation than quality experience. read more

Food is not good enough for how high the price is. Having to spend 2.25 on syrup is absolutely ridiculous let alone the 2 dollar add on of chocolate chips to my chocolate chip pancakes. this shows what kind of place this is. We have had several lovely breakfasts at Billy's over the years. Most notably, we came during restaurant week in June 2020 and had a wonderful experience. The diner is located in downtown Bethlehem and is very cozy inside. I ordered the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict, as it was one of their specials. The lump crab cake was excellent and the poached eggs were cooked to perfection. My mom The Dill-IO Crispy Chicken Sandwich which was really good. The double breaded chicken was cooked perfectly. This is one of the places in the Valley that I truly don't understand the appeal of. The decor post-expansion is decent but as several other realists have pointed out; the menu is very expensive as in prices that you would see for breakfast at pancake houses in OCMD where nothing is below eight to nine dollars along with everything being a la carte, the execution is the epitome of hit or miss and in past visits the service was very laissez-faire with the check always getting dropped off with the food which apparently in the fine print gives your server the green light to never have to check on you again. With that said, last week on Wednesday we stopped by for breakfast after an almost five year hiatus to see if anything had changed. Service: Even though a familiar face or two was still there things were better than in past visits. Gone was the inattentive pissy attitudes, the hiding in the back by the counter and thankfully the not checking on you once the food is dropped off schtick. This was surprising seeing as this was a Wednesday morning and by no means were things busy but our past visits were always for weekday breakfast yet the service usually was apathetic so A+ on this improvement. Food: I hate to use one of the ultimate Yelp review cliché words but truly it was, meh. The old lady ordered the Havana Omelet and contrary to the menu the toast came out butter free, the homefries were NOT crispy by a long shot and I personally tried the pulled pork inside the omelet and it was perfectly unseasoned bland. Underwhelming to say the least for over ten clams. I got the Billy Kristo which was really nothing special although the sandwich is huge because of how the eggs get folded over. One thing noteworthy was the brown sugar glaze which had the consistency of water and tasted like it as well. The other X factor worth noting here is that parking in the area is still a real SOB. If you want to park close if you're lucky you can snag a meter and after that it's the pay lot diagonal across the street or you can be cheap like me and park for free a block away on East Market Street. If you even want to call it a diner, what Billy's is in reality would be a "diner" for wanna-be foodies (whatever that self-absorbed term means), yuppies or NJ transplants who don't blink at dropping over $10 for a flavorless omelet and undercooked homefries. Sorry Billy but I still call BS on your flagship store as being all sizzle but sadly at the core there's no steak. (Also unlike a lot of diners Billy's is still very much not family friendly as there is no kids menu.) read more
