I asked the cashier clerk for a copy of my meal receipt. She handed me the cr/card receipt. I asked her 3 times for the meals receipt and she walked away. She made a copy for herself so I reached over and took the copy for my receipts. She came back to my table and took it from me and I stated again for a 4 and 5th time I needed a copy of the meals receipt so I could process it under my business trip expenses. Apparently she doesn't know the difference. I believe she is also the owner. I finally made her give me a receipt. She should have just made herself another copy but she had to come back and take the one I took. She is a rude, disrespectful person and definitely not people friendly. I would not recommend stopping here at all. The food was okay and nothing to write home about. Greasy spoon food if you like it. I still left the waitress a $6 tip as it wasn't her fault her boss was as rude as they come!!! read more

Really a truly sad day for me to have to write this. I've been going to Sunrise since I was 3 with my great grand parents, 34 years now, with the old owners. I don't write this review after 1 bad experience, but a progressively worse and worse experience over the past 2 years since Covid was over. When the new owners took over, we were skeptical at best. We were, however pleasantly surprised. A new and exciting menu that filled some gaps, while keeping the old favorites was introduced. Service remained the same, if not slightly improved, and the food was the same quality as always. Then COVID happened. Now, we all know COVID sucked for everyone in the food industry, so I would have never written this right after or during, or even in the aftermath while these places were recovering. However, the sad fact is that service, quality, and price/portion/stingy moves have continued to become and more and more prevalent. We've also not seen the owners here for a while, so I'm not sure if they've lost interest maybe or have other things going on. A few examples, and these are just 3 of a dozen or more I could write; - A few months back, me and a lady friend of mine came in for a relaxed dinner. After 10 minutes to get drinks, we then waited 25 minutes for appetizers, and then an astonishing 45 minutes after for the meal. Waitresses were as nice as they could be about it, you could tell they were embarrassed. - On several occasions, we've waited at least 20 minutes for 3 omelettes and home fries. More times than I can count. Often times with these, a simple side order may be missing, and that can take yet another 20 minutes to come out. - On a more recent occasion, on a pick up order, the entire order was essentially wrong (did not see until I got home. These things happen, but I'm always crystal clear on the phone and ensure that they say it back to me. They did, so this was a cook issue. I also found out you no longer can make your own mini salad to go, they just do a standard lettuce tomato onion and small cup of dressing, very disappointing. The straw that broke the camels back here, the soup is the reason I kept coming back despite all of these experiences. In this case, the soup was so off, I couldn't even eat it. And that was the last hit for me with Sunrise, sadly. Bottom line, service is always super friendly, the waitresses are not at fault. There is a management/owner/kitchen issue here. The kitchen workflow / staffing likely needs an overhaul. Ownership/management probably needs to be rethought, and if they really want to do this thing, maybe consider a smaller menu for a while to get back to the Sunrise of old. Will check back in a year or so, best of luck to you, the last thing I want is the diners of America to go by the way side. read more

Me and my family got salads and and soup. I was making my salad and I got the bacon bits on it. I go to start eating it and something tastes really really gross like dog food. So I try everything and I realize it's the bacon then I also realize it's fake bacon. The servers were amazing but they need to make real bacon. read more

This is my SECOND review of this place. I submitted a review about 5/6 years ago. The quality of this place has diminished vastly. I believe it has been sold approximately twice within the past couple of years. The server staff is atrocious. The food has gone bland. One would think that since the pandemic the owners would work extra hard at pleasing customers..... NOPE. All you'll get here is low level hostility. Best diner in the valley. Everything about this place, except for the location is great (too much crime!). The food is excellent-everything is cooked perfectly and it is brought to you quickly. The menu is extremely varied, and the prices are good. The servers here are very friendly, and there are many characters among them. Weekends this placed is packed, so get there early for breakfast. The diner was recently torn down and rebuilt and its really nice inside. Its a very clean diner, and even the restrooms are kept clean unlike some of the other dumps in town. read more

I've lived in Mechanicsburg for years, and I have driven by this place so many times and never given it a second glance. Finding a good breakfast can sometimes be challenging because of the things we prefer - so we keep trying new places out. Last weekend we tried Sunrise and we were really pleased! This review is for breakfast - and I cant comment on their other offerings. When we arrived on Sunday morning - it was crowded - didn't think we would get a table, but they were able to seat us right away which was great, the hostess and the waitress were super friendly and attentive and had our drinks there in a flash. We both ordered breakfast, eggs, bacon, sausage and scrapple, - and everything was great. The bacon was crispy and delicious, the sausage were the larger plump fat links which I love and the scrapple was the best! - we try the scrapple everywhere we go looking for something flavorful, and it is hard to find, Sunrise has it right, they have the best scrapple we have had yet! Everything came very quickly - the eggs were cooked properly, the place is clean and the service was friendly, the breakfast was one of the best we have had in town so far. We will be coming back for the sausage and definitely the scrapple for sure! Giving 4 stars because we want to come back and try some of their other food - it looks like they have good fresh made dishes, 5 stars for breakfast I feel is a bit too generous, but what we had was excellent. read more

After being told that the wait for 2 people would be over 45 minutes at 2 different Waffle Houses, 1 IHOP, and 1 Denny's, we came to the Sunrise Diner. We should have come here first. I've driven past it a couple times and joked about the chandelier in the entrance of a diner but today I finally went inside. We were seated immediately and our order was taken and brought out to us in less than 15 minutes. Everything was delicious. The home fries were crispy and the eggs were cooked all the way through. I hate when they're runny. My blueberry pancakes were delicious and my guest's Belgian waffle was too. The service was speedy and the price was amazingly low. Only critiques I have were the big ass flies and what looked like a bullet hole in the window of the booth we were seated in Other than that everything was great. Side note: do the little jukeboxes at the tables actually work? I didn't want to put coins in it then find out they're just decorative and not get my money back. read more

Understandably they, like every other restaurant in America, are probably short-staffed, so they changed their hours to be open only until 10:00pm. Their lights were still on. Their flashing sign said they were open until 10. People were eating in the restaurant. The sign on the door said they were open until 10. We arrived and went to the door at 9:30. THE DOORS WERE LOCKED! We were starving with a 4 hour drive ahead of us. I don't care if the food is good or not. I will never know because I will never go back. I don't like liars. They have individual jukeboxes at the tables, and the food is reasonable and tasty. Was in there for breakfast and there were a lot of older people, and a ton of regulars - the waitress knew them all. Everything great about diners can be found here. I've been to this diner, and the others in its area a few times. This is the closest diner to my house and it looks nice, is always clean, and has those fun jukeboxes in the windows, so I keep making the mistake of going back. Every single time I "dine" at Sunrise I tell whoever I'm with to remind me never to go back there. The food is never cooked correctly, and the servers never come around to check to see if it were. Today we ate there, and there was no cheese on my breakfast wrap and my friends sausage was under-cooked. Our server never bothered to see if everything was ok or to ask us for drink refills (we had to seek her out for those), so we didn't bother tipping her for a job that even the crowded Mcdonald's across the street could have executed with much more finesse. The last thing I'll complain about is their coffee- I'm no entrepreneur, but if my diner had terrible service and food, the last thing I would let go bad would be the coffee service- their coffee is served at a sweltering temperature just below that which would melt the ceramic mugs that carry it. Without a kinged-sized portion of ice to add to it, even the most seasoned of coffee drinkers will need a trip to the burn-ward after the attempt. I have no idea how the coffee actually tastes, because I'm sure the temperature has already killed any flavoring the coffee started out with. I really like diners and hope the owners see this review so they can fix things and I can return. If you're searching for someplace worthwhile in the area, drive the extra few blocks to Queen-City Diner, IHOP, or really anywhere else. read more

I personally have never been here before but my friends have and recommended it after a night out. It wasn't busy at all surprisingly as it was right after bar closing time. We were seated and our waitress took drink orders. I noticed that 2 of us only had 1 fork each for some reason. I asked the waitress about it and she said she would look for some as they ran out. Ran out of utensils? Anyways, she found some for us and that's when things went down hill. I saw what looked like a piece of lettuce or something on my fork. Great. I come here sometimes when I visit this area, and, to be honest, the food isn't great. At the time of this writing, I had a tuna melt on pita bread. I will never make that mistake again. It was sloppy, and it almost burnt my hand in the process! It came with fries, those were kinda good, but not amazing. The Ruben has too little beef, and too much sauerkraut. Also, the sauerkraut is way too sour. I had to take almost all of it off. The coffee is bland, and they serve it extremely hot. Despite my review, this diner has a special place in my heart. read more
