If you haven't been here you need to go. Stopped in Allentown on a road trip and needed a decent dinner. The menu online was just so-so and I expected it to be typical bar food. I was wrong. There were so many choices it was hard to decide. I had the French onion soup which was so delicious and had lots of melted cheese on top. Could use a few more onions but still delicious as is. Then I had the house salad and added salmon. The salad was so fresh and had cran-raisins, fresh blueberries and candied pecans. The portion was large. It was a gourmet salad. The best part was the salmon was cooked to perfection. It's a hard fish to cook and not over cook. It was moist and tasty. Kudos to the chef. My Husband had the Cobb salad with chicken. He really liked it a lot and it was a good entree size. Nicolette was our server. She was great. Food came out timely and she was always checking on us. They do have typical bar foods like chicken wings, burger, nachos etc. so you have something for everyone. We got here at 8:30... place doesn't close until midnight... and they were going up seat us until they found out we had 7 in our party, then they claimed the kitchen was closing and wouldn't cook for us. In town riding at a local bike park (Trexler) the gang designs to choose this place. I might just had the best Bavarian pretzel in the world. It was deep friend. It had a side of mustard and apple sauce. Wasn't too crazy about the apple sauce but it was amazing. I went with my instincts and ordered a French Dip sandwich. Inside the restaurant seating was small but they had outside seating as well. I would say the could accommodate any size crowd. But the FOOD!! Everything we got was delicious!!! Overall i think the food here is excellent. However, I have no idea why their crab cakes are rated well. There is filler and it's spicey and in know way shape or form is it a good crab cake. I will say I said something and it was remade as they thought it was the paprika on top. I told them I think it's the filler. They were incredibly gracious and would let me pay for it; so all good. We found this place on Yelp while traveling from NJ back to Harrisburg. It was a really wonderful place for lunch. I got a mojito and my husband got a Yuengling draft and both were nice & fresh. I ordered the prime rib panini and absolutely loved it. The meat was good quality, the bread was perfect, and the sauce was nicely balanced. The balsamic garlic fries were AMAZING! I have eaten fries at many places, but never had this combination. The balsamic was just enough to add a nice umami flavor, but not overpower it. My husband got the chicken cheesesteak, but he ordered buffalo style, so I didn't try it. The service was good and prices were reasonable. The outdoor seating area looked beautiful. Came on a late Thursday night and what a great spot for some late night grub. Kitchen closes at 10:30pm, but they stay open until 2am Monday to Saturday. We went to Allentown Farmers Market and wanted to eat there but too hard to find seats. We Yelped for a place near by. We had two kiddies, a vegetarian and three not so fussy adults. The Nachos were built with integrity -- beans on the bottom, shredded and seasoned chicken in the top, with plenty of cheese and fresh toppings. The pub fare here is being executed at a high level. We got to the restaurant around 5:00 on a Saturday and the bar are was packed with what appeared as locals. (They seemed to all know each other) We were seated immediately in the back dining room area and got there just in time because the rest of the tables were filled within 10 min. We ordered the small chicken nachos as an appetizer and it was a very generous portion. We then got both the regular and chicken cheesesteaks for our meals and a few drinks. If you're looking for sit-down places to eat open late in Allentown, Ringers Roost fits the bill perfectly. If I remember correctly, they've been around for over 50 years. Giving off tasteful college bar/eatery vibes, there are multiple places to eat including a bar area, separate indoor dining rooms, a front porch area with high tops, and an outdoor patio. After 10 pm, they do transition to a more limited food menu, but still plenty of options. We ordered the chicken fingers and chicken cheesesteak, which both came with fries. The chicken fingers (4/5) were of good quality with decent coating and tender chicken, and more importantly, not greasy. The only thing lacking was some flavor/spices in the coating required for a higher rating, but solid nonetheless and better than most restaurants I've been to. The chicken cheesesteak (4.5/5) was generously portioned and flavorful with healthy lettuce, tomato, & onion on top. The fries (4.5/5) were great with most having an excellent crunch (also not greasy). The decor was nice with fun rooster theming. Service (3.5/5) was ok, but friendly and what you'd expect in a college area eatery. It's great that they employ so many local college students. A bonus is that there's plenty of free parking in the lot behind the restaurant. Overall, Ringer's Roost was a decent place to grab a meal and better than your run of the mill chain restaurant open late...this is one place I'd definitely I'd return to. read more
