im a BBQ nut and imo Billy Sims has the best overall in the Broken Arrow area. it took me some time to find it as it's tucked into the Walmart plaza in Kenosha and not easy to see. This post is coming from a self proclaimed BBQ snob. I have my favorite places to get BBQ in Memphis, KCMO and Texas based on the protein and style I want it. I'm fortunate to get out and travel for work and BBQ is one of my favorite things to eat. With that in mind I am a HUGE fan of this location of Billy Sims here in Broken Arrow. Billy Sim's is an Oklahoma chain for readers who might not be familiar and they do deliver some quality Q consistently across the locations I have ventured into. I don't know what they do here to make it so good but man I'm on board! The variety of meats and sides is on point and none of what I have sampled have ever been sub par. The cleanliness of the inside is welcoming and expected. The staff who help out when you order are always nice and friendly and I certainly appreciate that. One thing to consider is you order at the front and they prepare your plate for you while you're in line. It does give you an opportunity to see what they have while you're taking a look at the menu. Got take out from here recently (note it's the only time we've eaten from here). Got the sliced brisket plate along with the baked potato salad, baked beans, Mac and cheese. It was all pretty good. Came in a little bit before closing. Ordered a two meat combo, sliced brisket and hot link, with coleslaw, loaded potato salad with barbecue sauce, 2 ranch cups, and pickles and peppers. Got my bag Togo and looked in and there was no barbecue or ranch, so I asked if I could get some and they gave me some. I got home and opened my Togo container. They gave me brisket and bologna, no pickles and peppers, and two side of coleslaw. This was my first time eating at Billy Sims, and it was my last. I'm told that if I'm in Oklahoma that I need to eat some BBQ, so I'm working on it, and this one was next on the list. Honestly, when we pulled up and saw that it was in a strip mall and was not the kind of place with table service but instead a go up and order and bring it back to the table yourself kind of place, I didn't think it was going to be good. Then, once inside, when I saw the prices compared to the portions, I didn't think I was going to think it was worth it. Then I took a bite of the pulled pork. And I stole a bite of someone else's brisket. I started to think I might be in love with this place. Finally, one bite of my ribs (the fall off the bone kind), and I wanted to square dance (or whatever I'm supposed to do to actively show my joy). I no longer cared that I'd had to carry my plate-like tray to the table myself. The price no longer seemed really all that much, considering that once I got started eating, I realized that there really was quite a bit of meat. The baked beans had serious bits of pork in them and were yummy. The potato salad wasn't remarkable, but it wasn't bad. Despite a couple of concerns I had headed into my meal, this place is cute inside and yummy enough that it still shines brightly enough for me that I'm going with a solid 4 stars. Heartier napkins (because seriously, folks, this is BBQ!) might even have tipped it over to another star. It's that close. Yay for the wet nap thingies. It's not BBQ it's Boomer Q. I guess Boomer Q is just a cut above "fast food BBQ." They've got a lot of competition but can hold their own most of the time. This is my go to BBQ spot it's close to my house and I love the Boot Kickin Hot BBQ sauce it is my favorite BBQ sauce I even buy this stuff at Reaors and keep it in the fridge. I consider myself a BBQ connoisseur and I know this is not the best around but it is good and it is consistent. Ok so I'm a fan. Oh yeah, Boomer Sooner! My typical meal is a four meat combo staring sliced brisket, ribs, chicken and bologna. Yep smoked bologna. I know I know but this stuff is good. Sometimes I swap out chicken for pulled pork. Either way they are all interchangeable but I'd recommend the ribs and bologna. The brisket is hit or miss and the chopped brisket comes out of a big bucket that obviously was chopped at an earlier time. However, you put that on a nice bun and slather it in sauce you'll never know the difference. Oklahoma and pecan wood go together like bullets and guns. I like that they use pecan wood for smoking and a good dry rib rub is always good. The beans and cole slaw are good but sometime we get a mini ear of corn. I love BBQ and when I get the urge for some I will usually go to Billy Sims. It is very consistent and not too bad on the price. I will generally get the sliced brisket sandwich with baked beans and the sides they throw in which is a pickle slice and onions and I also have them throw in a jalapeno. The bbq sauce is pretty good, (my go to sauce at home is head country and head country also has an excellent dry rub seasoning), anyway for a place to grab a pretty good brisket sandwich at a pretty good price I like Billy Sims. read more

So when my husband and I first moved to Tulsa we tried out Billy Sims and it was great!!! Figured its been a couple years since we've eaten here, minus-well try it again. We both got the pulled pork sandwich with a side of ribs and a pickle. The pulled pork sandwich was a bit dryer than what I remembered and the rib (1 piece) was not good at all!! I had given my husband my sandwich and had the ribs instead, but neither one was worth my time. The ribs tasted like the gas that it was cooked over. Not exactly sure if they use a gas grill or what, but was not a good experience. The best thing was the sweet tea, now that was delicious!! My second trip to Billy Sims. I am a native Texan and consider muscle pretty good behind the pit. The brisket was a touch dry, I can tell they try hard to keep that from happening by wrapping it between each cutting, a good technique. A little BBQ sauce would fix that easily for most people, but on a low carb diet, I avoid the sauce. The flavor was very good. The hot sausage was excellent, moist and flavorful and even had cheese in it. The green beans are also very tasty, a bit nuclear hot, but that just means they are definitely keeping their steam table at temperature, and you don't need to worry about spoiled food. I asked for plenty of peppers, and was rewarded nicely, he gave at least 6. The tea was very good, tasted fresh and refreshing. The real standout is the service. They are on top of every detail from extra peppers to double toasting the Texas toast. They greeted me as if I was an old friend and asked several questions about my order to make sure it was correct. Very highly recommended. read more

We have been using Billy Sim's BBQ for my family gatherings for years. Tonight, I requested to speak with the manager because they had messed up my order for a large family gathering. The manager REFUSED to come out from the back to speak with me. I understand mistakes are made; I just wanted to get the food I paid for and he wouldn't even come out from the back to speak with me. He sent some of his high school employees to tell me he wasn't going to come out and they handed me the food I was missing. I honestly do not understand this behavior whatsoever. It has always been my understanding that a very important quality for managers in customer service positions to have is interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. Refusing to speak with a customer when they ask to speak with you is terrible customer service. This was an extremely disappointing experience. We won't be using Billy Sim's BBQ anymore. Or at the very least, not this location. read more

This has to be the worst BBQ I have ever had. I am from TX and know my brisket. My wife is from Memphis and Pork is king. Here at Billy's the food is bad. The brisket is oily and tastes microwaved.
