Pros: * I love that they actively support the military and veterans--huge respect for that. * The staff was extremely friendly from start to finish. * Food presentation was beautiful and well done. * The food tasted really good. I ordered a half pound of brisket. * When I placed my takeout order, the woman on the phone asked whether I preferred more fat or less fat on the brisket. I've never been asked that before and really appreciated the option--some people want lean, others want that fatty side. Cons: * My only real con was that the flat portion of the brisket was a bit dry and slightly overcooked. That said, it's pretty common with brisket flat and difficult to get just right, so it wasn't a deal-breaker. Overall, I'd definitely go back and try more items on the menu. read more

No complaints for service and cleanliness when I first walked into mission BBQ. I had the opportunity to learn what the "mission" was behind Mission BBQ which really is to help feed and serve first responders. The walls are pathed out with numerous military, police, and firefighter patches from around which brought me a lot of joy seeing. I do support the mission and happy to see a place do it. The food was okay. I ended up trying the brisket and sausage. The brisket was okay, but not memorable. The cornbread was great and to be honest the potato salad may have been my favorite part of the meal. I made sure to try all the sauces that they had. We are BIG on BBQ in our family! We are from Oklahoma and also lived in Kansas City for several years, so you know we've had our fair share of amazing BBQ. We decided to give Mission a try for dinner and were very happy with our experience. We ordered every type of meat on the menu and liked everything. This location is in a bigger shared plaza with plenty of parking. You walk in and go to the counter to order and then you go back to the counter to pick up your food. There is plenty of seating with a big open feel. The service was friendly and provided a couple of samples when I was trying to decide between sides. We didn't have a long wait to get our food after we ordered. My husband felt that the collard greens were a little salty. He really liked the turkey and felt it was moist. We were in Tulsa for The Affair Of Hearts and found this. I have eaten at a Mission before in different states. Was hoping this one was just as good since I was taking my daughter's. You order at front so takes a bit if your new. Ordered brisket with cheesy potatoes and beans. All really good. Even the cornbread is so good! Sampled daughter greenbeans and they are not plane Jane. We all shared the Apple cobbler dessert but small so didn't last long. Lol then went and ordered 3 more to take home. We were all so impressed! Daughter loved it, so was searching other locations. I believe it was the Memphis Belle. Way too vinegary. I like a sweet and spicy sauce on my sandwich. I didn't pick the sandwich up myself, so I'm not sure if this flavor profile is available. Overall Impression: Gimmicky but the BBQ is good. Mission BBQ has only one mission - to honor and give back to police, fire, first responders, and military. The restaurant is full of heroic and patriotic tributes of US uniformed heroes. Look past these tributes, someone like myself, may find this gimmicky. Other restaurants have done something similar, where they would give 10-15% of earning to their cause. Mission BBQ gives our uniformed heroes very little back, "gift" once a month, and no discounts on food whatsoever. When 99% of the their customers are non-military, police, fire, or first responders, one has to question what are they really giving back, a smidgen not worth mentioning. The ribs and baked beans were excellent though. The ribs had that smoky taste and served in a half to full slab. I would like for them to cut each slab into individual ribs so it would be easier to consume. The baked beans also had a nice smoky taste. Mission BBQ had the most diverse option of BBQ sauces available, 6 to choose from. Only the smoky mountain and Memphis Belle were of my liking. Impressed by the food but disappointed by what they are giving back to our heroes, probably very little. If you are able to look past this facade, Mission BBQ is excellent. read more

We received fast and friendly service on an impromptu Monday evening stop in. We both ordered chopped brisket sandwiches with a side and a drink- one was green beans (really good), and one was Mac and cheese (pretty good). The sandwhiches were a good size and flavorful. I added a sweet and spicy sauce for more kick, but it didn't "need" it for flavor. I think if the bun had been buttered and toasted on a flat top it would have pushed it over the edge and earned a 5 star review. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. It's not just a lunch but an experience. If you happen to be a hero or just appreciate hero's, you're going to like this place. My husband, who is an inactive Marine, just loves it. The theme is heroes such as military, police, and fireman and it's decorated accordingly. All the staff are ultra friendly and enthusiastic. At 12 noon each day, everyone stands and sings the National Anthem. The kitchen staff even comes out for that. The service was incredible. Our brisket sandwiches were delicious. I can't believe this building used to house Zio's. They did an amazing job remodeling it! My husband had tried this place on his own, when I was out of town, and loved it. He was given a coupon for a free sandwich so we went back to redeem it today. I'm a vegetarian so we were thinking I wouldn't have many choices, but there are several sides and two sizes of salads to choose from so I was totally ok. I ordered an entree size salad and a side of mac and cheese. The cashier misheard me and rung us up for a small side salad (which was not super small, fyi). This was remedied after our food arrived and I realized the size mistake. The staff was very kind and gave me an entree size salad, on top of my smaller salad, to take home. The salad was fresh and the ranch was delicious. The mac and cheese was super creamy! My husband was happy with his brisket sandwich and cheesy scalloped potatoes (he let me try some of the potatoes and they were amazing). We chatted a little bit with one of the workers in the dining room who is originally from Las Vegas - she was super friendly. We had asked about the Black Plate Special and she explained some of the things on the menu, told us about a ceremony they do every day at noon with the pledge of allegiance, and gave us another coupon for a free sandwich. My family relocated from Florida a year ago and missed our regular visits to MissionBBQ. Thankfully we recently found y'all again in Tulsa and finally made it in tonight. The restaurant immediately brought back fond memories since it looked like others we used to frequent. If it is even possible, the food was actually better than we remembered, but that may have been the built up anticipation. However, what made this joyous reunion so special was the friendly, service focused, and incredibly attentive staff! From the moment we walked through the doors, to ordering, eating and finally boxing leftovers, we repeatedly had our needs met and even anticipated. Despite our high expectations from years of loyal patronage in Florida, our first experience in the Tulsa location significantly exceeded anything we could have hoped for or remembered. My family absolutely LOVES Mission BBQ. The service has always been over and above. The check can add up pretty quickly, but you get what you pay for! They will allow you to sample any of the meats to make sure you like them before buying. Even then, however, if you are not satisfied with your food, they will replace it on the spot. We always get enough food with extra to take home. The ribs are probably some of the best dry ribs I've ever had. They LITERALLY fall off the bone and honestly don't even need sauce (and I NEVER eat BBQ without sauce). I love the military and emergency worker theme. It is easy to tell that they have a great respect for those who have served us with pride. The ONLY complaint I could even think of is that they don't have bologna, but I understand that is not for everyone! Visiting from out of town and decided to try, very glad we did. Decor is military and first responders forward. We tried the brisket and turkey, brisket was tinder with the perfect amount of bark and the turkey was moist and delicious. They have multiple bbq sauces to choose from. We also tried the Mac and cheese and sweet potato mash. The Mac and cheese was creamy and definitely tasted homemade, the sweet potato mash was good and not too sweet. This adventure takes us up to Tulsa. My husband and I were up that direction today to do my yearly check in with my surgical oncologist and an appointment and my mastectomy professional fitter. We ran a couple errands between appointments to a couple other places, then on our way out of town it was around lupper time, and we had been talking about going and stopping by Mission BBQ previously. So this trip we made a stop by after my appointment with my fitter, as it was right up the road from them. So we got online to their website and decided what we wanted.As we surfed the website and decided on our meal the hubby(Navy veteran) and I both noticed they are very veteran forward and veteran charity forward in their connections as well. My husband for his meal selected 5 ribs, baked beans, cornbread(sweet) square, Maggie's mac n cheese, and Memphis Belle bbq sauce. My dinner selection included smoked salmon with KC sauce, baked beans, potato salad(that could have used some mustard or acv), and slaw that could have use some vinegar to wake it up(it was decent). We each got an American Hero's cup(that can be brought back for a refill at a discounted price.He got sweet tea, and he got me a Dr Pepper for a caffeine boost). A group of my friends decided to try the food at this new BBQ place. So the four of us gathered there. We were greeted by one of the owners and he explained the process of ordering. Most of the menu is a-la-carte. Brisket sandwich was ordered by one, pulled pork by another and I and my wife split a full rack of baby back ribs. Sides ordered were baked beans, and Cole slaw. Despite being busy the food arrived at our table quickly. We were given a carrier with 8 different bbq sauces. I liked the Nashville Belle sauce for my ribs, tangy and a bit sweet with a good smoky finish. Pulled pork and brisket sandwiches tried each one of the sauces and never decided on the best. My picky eater wife wasn't sold on any of them. The owner happened by the table and she asked him if there were any others. With a grin he said, " Yes, we have a secret sauce you have to ask for.." He left and came back with a white sause that he said was horseradish based. I believe my wife emptied the bottle on her ribs before we were finished. (She wants to go back to try it on the brisket) The ribs were perfectly smoked and fall-off-the-bone tender. The beans were very good with a heavy smoke finish. The Cole saw was cold and crispy with a light Tandy dressing. A very good meal with plenty to take home for the next day's lunch. Went today a little after 12 noon. Line wasn't very long took us about 5 minutes to get order in. My friend and I both got pulled pork sandwiches I got side of beans. We both had waters and total came to right around $25. Beans had some small pieces of brisket in them. Tasted like bushes baked beans with brisket. That's not knock on them I do prefer bushes baked beans. They just didn't seem like there was much to them. Granite, we weren't really there for the beans we came for the barbecue.
