Unfortunately it was premade Sysco or Ben E Keith style potato salad. I also ordered the baked beans and they had no flavor and were dry. Dry? How are baked beans dry. The meat I chose was the sliced brisket. It had a great pink smoke ring yet, no flavor. It was also dry. The other meal at the table , bologna sandwich with slaw and okra. It was fine but, nothing special. The next meal was pre prepared Mac and cheese (inedible) chicken breast and fries. Fries are fries... the chicken breast was moist but, offered no seasoning nor smokie flavor. We haven't been here in a couple years and we were sad to see the food was no longer worth coming to BA. I wish more restaurants would make more of their dishes in house. It's frustrating to pay so much for pre made food. My sides were the BBQ Baked Beans and Cole Slaw with my half rack at $19.99. They were great, falling off the bone, flavorful. Cooked perfectly. The four containers of sauces in the table were great additions to the entrees. Liked them all, especially the spicy one. Got a "complimentary sample" of the Atomic Cole Slaw. That was enough for me. Had never heard of it but had to try. Very spicy but DELICIOUS. Finished it with the meal. We also ordered the ONE LOADED SPUD. Wait till you see this. Took home the other half. It was loaded ok. It was a slow smoked potato covered with the one selected meat choice, had the pulled pork with melted butter, then piled high with peppered bacon, shredded cheddar cheese, jalapenos, and sour cream. We were on a road trip to drop my son off at his dorm room near St. Louis from California. We decided to stop in the Tulsa area and rest a bit. The very nice lady at our hotel recommended Smokies, and it didn't disappoint. I always feel like being from California, people from other states would treat us differently. Not here. The staff was wonderful and knowledgeable. The food was outstanding and the portions were much more than we could eat in one sitting. The table and menus were sticky and left our hands sticky as well. They server came and took our order, brought our drinks, then food, then never returned. We had to go to counter for drink refills and a take home container. We've been here before and the food was stellar; not so much this time, kind a meh. A small unassuming cabin on the outskirts or BA, Smokies packs a punch in the world of BBQ. This hidden gem specializes in low and slow, imbuing all of their meats with a moist Smokey flavor that almost makes adding sauce sacrilege...although theirs is pretty good. We had a healthy sampling of their meats with one of the family platters, trying their pulled pork, chopped brisket, sausage and chicken for a whopping three pounds of meat. Add to it the platter came with an entire plate of Texas toast/buns and 4 sides...let's just say no one left hungry. Of the sides, nothing disappointed. The beans were in a thick bbq sauce full of chunks or pork, the Mac and cheese was fresh made (and a special so good they rub out early) and the sidewinders are next level for fries. The service was equally as amazing as the food. Friendly, attentive and efficient, it's all you could ask for. On a beautiful day their back patio is a lovely place to sit...unlike so many places in town, you don't feel like you're in the middle of a parking lot. Sad to say the best thing on my plate was the toast & pickle! The ribs were only 2-3 inches long & were charred so bad they had a bitter taste & there wasn't any meat left on them! The smoked sausage slices were so dry I literally couldn't even squeeze ANY juice out of them! My family used to go here a lot back a couple years ago but it has really gone downhill! This is a hometown mom and Pop barbecue joint located in Broken Arrow Oklahoma. A coworker that lives nearby recommended this place so I was all about it. As we pulled up, I got the mom & pop divvy barbecue joint vibe which is what I was hoping for. They greet you as you walk in and allow you to sit at any open table. They come right over with menus and ask if you want anything to drink which I love. They have a pretty good menu with many options including several BBQ meat options. They had the typical sides for a barbecue joint such as potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, okra, etc. I ordered the chicken barbecue sandwich with potato salad and a side of coleslaw. Although the chicken sandwich was very good I think I would order the BBQ brisket next time. The potato salad was very good and the coleslaw was decent. I also ordered a sweet tea which was good. There was plenty of parking around the restaurant. There is a decent amount of seating inside as well as outdoors in the back on the patio. The food came out really fast which is nice when you have a limited amount of time at lunch during the work week. Wow! Absolutely amazing! My wife and I went for our anniversary, we had been told good things about the amazing BBQ they had. They weren't lying, it was amazing. We ordered fried pickles which had amazing flavor and were the perfect crispness! I got the Razorback sandwich and when I tell you that it was probably the best BBQ sandwich I've ever had, then you'd better believe it. My wife got the brisket and after having a bite of hers I'm not going to lie when I say that I'm not sure who's was better because they were both that good! Our waitress was amazing! She came back to us several time to make sure we were good on drinks and asked how the food was. She also knew the menu well, we had questions and she answered them without hesitation. I have been going to Smokies BBQ for a long time, around 10 years or so now. Although I don't visit them too often, their quality of food is always "GREAT". As you know, maintaining a good consistency in food quality is one of the hardest things to achieve in any restaurant and they somehow got it right like clockwork. One of the first things, you notice is that they don't call themselves smokies if you can't smell their hickory smoke in the parking lot. It makes your mouth watery instantly. Their dine-in area isn't big, very crowded at times. They do have an outdoor patio for overflowing crowds now. But it's not shaded and can get pretty hot on summer days. Let's talk about the BBQ. Everything is darn tasty but we are always drawn to the Smokies Fat Boy Platter because it has a nice variety of food. It has brisket, pork, hotlinks, sausage, ribs, chicken bologna, ham, and a few sides such as potato salad, slaw, and Texas toast. I think their ham, bologna, chicken, and hotlinks are particularly special because I don't think anyone in town can top that so far. The ribs are solid (not the completely fall-off-the-bone type and are flavorful). However, the brisket is a bit dry for me. The food here is solid! Meat is nice and tender and has a good flavor to it, they have good BBQ Sauce options, the sidewinders are absolutely amazing. One individual at my tables onion rings got a little over cooked however the server did offer to replace them to fix the mistake which is good service! Our server did an absolutely wonderful job at taking care of our party of 15, to include all the other guests that came in while we were present that caused them to have a full house. The environment of the restaurant is nice, however the place was pretty cold as well as the place is small so as a result it can be crowded as well as noisy very fast. Today ribs; Atomic Slaw mandatory, add fried okra. The basket was full with four lean meaty ribs, enough fried okra for both me and my wife and a cup of slaw. The server delivered a small plate of essential BBQ condiments (peppers, pickles and onions) to accompany the meal. The ribs were meaty, tender and lean. For my taste, a little too much garlic in the rub, but good with a little sauce to tone down the garlic. Smokies has the Oklahoma standard BBQ sauce "Head Country" and "Ranger Creek." I hate both. Smokies is a local small BBQ joint located in Broken Arrow that brings the feel of a small town restaurant to a big town. I ended up with the triple combo that consisted of the ribs, sliced brisket, and spicy sausage. My combo came with two sides which I picked the coleslaw and fried okra. The meal also came with buttered toast. The overall meal was good but not great in my opinion. The sliced brisket was sliced very thin and I was unable to get that bark on the sides that I was hoping for. The spicy sausage was good and the ribs had a good smoked flavor, but were a little dry. The coleslaw was good and the fried okra was par. This place offers a variety of BBQ sauces which I think was a nice touch for the tastebuds, but I was hoping for that smoke flavor that didn't need sauce to complete it. That said, they weren't bad and I could see some people enjoying them. But I had my reservations about the brisket as soon as I saw how thin it was sliced. This is typically done to make up for meat that isn't tender enough. It was dry and the only way I think I'd enjoy it is with sauce as a sandwich. It was closer to something you might get from Arby's than a top BBQ place. Service was friendly and the restaurant was in line with other BBQ joints I enjoy but the food just was disappointing. We tried Smokies for some July 5th barbecue and were not disappointed. The atmosphere is genuine country barbecue. The ribs were tender if cooked a little less than I prefer. The beans were just spicy enough with a hint of tomato undertone. The brisket was mild but tender. The pulled pork was tender and delicious. The sausage was firm if a little greasy on the outside. The potato salad was smoke house standard with an accent on the mustard. Smokies offers a variety of sauce accompany your Que. I discovered a new favored sauce in Ranger Creek but the Head country and Head Country hot was on offer. A 4th sauce on offer is called Sa-Mokin. I sampled three of the 4 ( I do not do spicy bbq sauce) all 3 I tried were good with Ranger creek being the sweetest and my favorite of the three and Sa-Smokin being a good alternative and Head Country being Head country. When you pull up you will see the little bbq shacks and smell the smoked and you know you are about to be in hog heaven. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Tonight we sat out back on the patio and it was perfect! Our waitress was amazing. She was friendly, funny and provided great services. We started the meal with fried pickles and firecrackers (fried jalapeños) which were crispy and fresh. I got the Smokies Sandwich Plate with the Smoke Stack, sidewinders (a MUST), and the best fried okra ever. Portions are large and I barely ate half. My son got a side of sidewinders and ate the entire plate. I will say if you are going for your first time and there are two (or more) you need to get the Fat Boy Platter! I walked in to place an order for the following day. When asked what I would like, I explained that I was ordering for a family event and wasn't sure what the best option was. One of the nice young ladies sat me down and explained their options to me, which really made the process easy. Evert staff member I encountered was friendly and professional. This is NOT good BBQ! Friends took me to Smokies while I was visiting Tulsa this weekend., We shared a Fat Boy Platter andFire Crackers (fried jalapeño's) as an appetizer. The restaurant was filled with, but we were seated promptly. Our waitress Ray tried to be cleverly playful. However, just came across as insulting and obnoxious. Although, she did get our drink order quickly, kept us sufficiently hydrated and took our order quickly. We quickly got our Fatboy Platter and had to remind Ray about our Fire Cracker order, which she admittedly forgot to turn into the kitchen and said that they would be in the house. The Fatboy platter was a generous serving of BbQ. However, one could immediately realize that the food had been out of the smoker for some time. The Texas bread, was not toasted. Just soggy white bread. The potato salad was warm. The pulled pork was a ball of greased pork fat. Its appearance would lead one to believe it had been pulled from its container by the hand full, or weighed out into a bowl and just slapped onto the tray in one fatty glop. There were two kinds of sausages that were over smoked to crinkled point of dehydration. Sliced, the cross section of the sausages would further support their over cooking or suggest they had been sliced for some time. Being from Texas we had ask how the brisket was served or if we could get it thick cut. The waitress told us the brisket had already been "sliced" before it was ordered. To which it had been. It had been sliced paper thin, sometime before our arrival, allowing every bit of moisture to escape it. Served it was cold, dry and flavorless. The smoked ham was dry and flavorless. The smoked poultry was not off the bird, but more like lunch meat or roll. It too was dry. The smoked bologna, which should have been shaved (imo) was cut thick, with very little flavor other than warm bologna. The ribs were tender and fell off the bone. Did have a nice flavor, but also cut some time before our arrival, dry and overcooked. Smokies also has no signature sauce and offer Over the counter Head Country. Which is what I use at home, but would hope for more going out. We were compt our tardy Fire Crackers, which were good and possibly the only thing freshly prepared on our order. However, Smokies was a major disappointment, and a poor reflection of the BBQ in the Tulsa area. 4 of us, hungry men, shared the platter and over 1/3 was uneaten. Yuk! read more

Before walking through the door of this perfectly decorated BBQ shack, I was awakened to one of the most incredible hickory aromas I have ever experienced. To say the smell was delightful is a gross understatement... it is the best smelling barbecue joint I have entered. Those reading this are probably wondering if the food matched the smell, and my answer is sort of. I ordered the ribs and sliced beef, and the ribs were exceptional, maybe the second best in Tulsa. Those prefer tender ribs, might even rate them as the best, but I prefer a little tougher, naw on the bone, spicy chew, like BurnCo - my #1 for ribs. The sliced beef is a different story. It is very thinly sliced and more reminiscent of roast beef than sliced brisket. I didn't love it, but If this place had brisket that matched the deep hickory smoked deliciousness of the ribs, it would really be an incredible barbecue experience.
