This is a great place for take-out and it is super fast. I literally was in and out within 10 minutes of getting out of my car, placing the order and grabbing the to-go bag. I love the old school feel of this place where you get white bread and raw onions and peppers. Their standard sauce (on the side, of course) is the right amount of sweet and spicy. I ordered the full 3-meat (hot links, sliced brisket and pulled pork) and a half order of turkey, sliced brisket and pulled pork. We got two sides each and they were large enough that we only ate a single serving of the campfire potatoes and beans (which are both delicious). Sorry no pics of the food because we were starving and ate it promptly.

Mac's Barbeque Preview: Savor the rich, smoky flavors at Mac's in Skiatook, where each bite of perfectly seasoned meat takes Oklahoma barbecue to the next level. Final Score: 53/60 Excellent Barbecue is the beloved food of Oklahoma, so much so that loyalty to a favorite spot can make all others feel like blasphemy. Mac's, a staple in Skiatook since 1985, was originally founded by Mike McMillan. Today, it's in the hands of Adam Green, a military veteran and smoke master who has elevated barbecue to new heights. Under Adam's leadership, Mac's recently won the Tulsa World BBQ Bracket Contest, with "Mac's Mafia" showing up in full force to support. Adam's dedication to hard work and passion for his craft shine through in every dish. He brings creativity to barbecue with unique flavor profiles that go far beyond traditional smoked meats. Each visit has revealed new seasonings; honey, coriander, cumin, rosemary, and thyme all adding depth to his incredible creations. With Mac's recent competition victory, it was the perfect time for a formal review. So, let's see what's smokin' let's eat! Smoked Turkey The depth of smoke Adam achieves with each bite is impressive. Every mouthful perfectly fuses the smoky flavor with the delicate seasoning of the turkey. The meat is incredibly juicy, with the smoke and seasoning so well integrated throughout the breast that I initially thought it had been brined. However, I later learned that this remarkable flavor is purely the result of Adam's smoking expertise. Chicken Leg Much like the breast, the leg offers a perfect balance of smoke and seasoning. Each bite falls off the bone, delivering initial bursts of rich salt, paprika, and pepper, followed by tender, smoky chicken. The finish is a delightful blend of chicken fat and skin that coats the palate beautifully. Pork Ribs The ribs offer a tender yet slightly firm texture, providing a pleasing contrast in each bite. Once again, the balance of smoke, seasoning, and meat is masterfully executed. The flavor journey begins with a burst of seasoning, transitions to the richness of the pork, and finishes with a perfect touch of smoke. Pulled pork The pulled pork was the most delicate in terms of smoke and seasoning with an emphasis on the pork flavor. It was tender and juicy. Jalapeno and Cheddar Polish Sausage Each bite delivers the rich, savory flavor of sausage, followed by sharp cheddar and smoke in the middle, and finishing with the subtle heat of jalapeño. The blend of flavors elevates this sausage far beyond the traditional smoked variety. Sides: Coleslaw, Potato Salad, BBQ Beans The coleslaw is bold and unapologetic. Its creamy sauce is perfectly balanced with the crisp slaw, delivering an intense hit of garlic and cream that gives way to the fresh flavor of the cabbage, creating a beautifully counterbalanced palate experience. It's a powerful combination. The potato salad, featuring eggs, leans on the creamy side with chunks of potato and a mild tang from mustard and dressing. The beans aren't overly sweet, offering a smoky barbecue flavor with bits of chewy meat. The green beans have a classic profile, seasoned with smoke and salt. Overall: Mac's is truly a barbecue mecca for its loyal "mafia" and all of Oklahoma. Adam's mastery of the smoking process and his innovation with proteins set him apart. His weekly specials, featuring items like redfish, half chickens, salmon, and beef ribs, go beyond the traditional pulled pork, brisket, and ribs. This creativity allows Adam to explore new flavors rather than focusing solely on one barbecue style, such as Carolina or Texas. By doing so, he offers something fresh in a field that often clings to tradition without moving forward. Until next time, friends--let's eat! Final score: 53/60 Excellent

Missed it the first time driving by.

A friend of mine suggested I pick up food here after my son's basketball games. It was getting dark and I drove right by the first time. I ordered 2 family packs. One with Ribs, the other with pulled pork. Added a pound of polish sausage. Choose beans, corn on the cob, pasta salad, and campfire potatoes. They just ran out of campfire potatoes so hope to try that next time we are in town. They brought it to me quick, 10 minutes! Everything smelled so good, was hot, fresh and flavorful.

3 Meat Combo. Ribs, Sliced Beef, and Pulled Pork. Sides: Campfire Potatoes & Cole Slaw

Today I had the pleasure to get taken to Mac's in Skiatook, OK. Walking in I was surprised how small it was inside. But you know what they say, big things come in small packages and boy do they! I love the whole order at the counter and get a number vibe. I got the 3 meat combo with ribs, sliced brisket, and pulled pork. For the sides, I got campfire potatoes and cole slaw. If I could give this place 10 stars, I totally would. Everything was full of flavor and moist. My brisket was fatty in all the best ways! I tried all the sauces, they were amazing, but I found myself not really needing any. Here's the thing though. I would kidnap someone's child for those campfire potatoes! If I had one knock it would be on the cole slaw. It was a little sweet, but the crunch on the veg was on point! I also love the free for all pepperoncini's and onions.

Nice ambiance at the order counter.

You order at the counter and the service was friendly. The space is used well for seating and decorated on theme and with family photos. We tried the chopped beef, pulled pork, and ribs which came with two sides. All the meat was good quality. The beef and pork needed sauce otherwise the flavor was too faint. The ribs were seasoned so well. They aren't very meaty so I would get double ribs next time and skip the chopped beef. There is an up charge for the ribs. The Cowboy potatoes were good-cheesy hash brown style-all soft-no crisp. I would prefer them without the onion-although the big chunks were easy to pull put.

Ribs, Campfire Potatoes & Corn

If you're looking for some authentic BBQ in Oklahoma Mac's Barbeque is the place! I ordered a 1/2 order of ribs with campfire potatoes & corn. The ribs were great, a little bit gristly but they were FULL of flavor. The sides were great, campfire potatoes were deliciously cheesy! I'm usually not a huge fan of BBQ sauce but you MUST try the hot BBQ sauce on whatever you order! It enhanced the flavor of the meat & added a little bit of heat that I love. If you're in Skiatook & craving BBQ I'd definitely give Mac's a try!

BBQ chopped with coleslaw

While traveling thru Skiatook,Ok, stop my Mac's for BBQ. Well it was ok, they don't carry Beef Ribs so beginning with 5 stars, I deducted a point, so I ordered chopped beef, it was chopped to almost a ground beef consistency, now that's weird, so I feduct d a half a point, so the final rating was a 3.5. The coleslaw was chilled, crunchy and sweet, so that was good, the BBQ sauce was pretty good with a choice between mild and hot, the mild sauce was sweet, they should add more green veggies as a side and add beef ribs to land in the realm of 4 to 4.5

My potato was hard, not fully cooked. Even with sauce it was dry and tasteless. Won't go back.

Over the years we won MULTITUDES of awards, with our biggest claim that our baked beans took second in the world at the KC Royal. We manufactured and marketed three award-winning sauces and a dry rub. Case made?? Good, keep going please! I accidentally found Luke's a few years back and now I'll drive to Coweta from Tulsa for lunch as it's THAT GOOD!! It's honestly some of the best BBQ I've ever eaten. I went last week for lunch and got my usual, sliced brisket and pulled pork. Both were incredible, but the pork was AMAZING, something that usually doesn't impress me. I can get a butt nice and juicy, but NOTHING like Luke's!!! Not sure if they brine, inject, or what they do?? The meat is soaked with delicious juices and you can tell that it's inside, not just added if that makes sense. The brisket came off the point, which is not what I typically prefer, but it too was incredible. Go early, burnt ends seem to sell out first. Great portions, I always bring home leftovers. I'll TRY not to dive in to my plate and get some pics next time; can't promise tho...

This place is the best bbq in Oklahoma, and I know that's a bold statement for something out of a trailer, and yet it's true. I absolutely stalk good bbq places and so I usually don't put too much stock in them meeting me expectations. But when you see Nick pull that brisket out of that brown waxed paper and watch the jiggle as he slices through that amazing bark, you'll realize you've hit the jackpot. We grabbed the food for 2 and it was an incredible sampler of all of their meats. And the sides... GET THE BACON CHEESE GRITS. Holy moly rolly poly that little styrofoam cup should come with a warning label because it's absolutely ridiculous. The chicken was so juicy, I was almost more impressed by it honestly. But brisket of this tier is just such a rare find... the other two with me easily admitted it was the best they've had in their entire life. Ribs too. We also didn't expect to be able to find an open patio on a Saturday, but the outdoor space provided created such a laid back experience with the outdoor tables I felt like I could kick back, eat some Q and let all the stresses of the world melt away. Go. Just go. Go now. The lines on this place are going to be a mess soon, I'm sure. So get there now before everyone and their dog starts standing in line until they sell out like a certain unnamed Ft Worth place I know.

We chose Triggers BBQ, reviews were generally positive and it was a short stroll from The Frontier Hotel. The young lady working the counter was very friendly and our order was placed quickly. The fountain machine was not working which isn't a big deal. We each decided to try RC Cola. The only rub I have at this part of our experience is don't blame someone for the fountain machine not working. It's just a poor reflection. Just state it's not working. I ordered the brisket, coleslaw, and cheesy potatoes. My lovely wife ordered "the last of today's pork", brisket and cheesy potatoes. The food came out quickly. It was immediately noticeable that the brisket had sat in a warmer for way to long and was past its prime. A slathering of BBQ sauce on the brisket was not much improvement and was really uninspiring its self. A prior review noted the brisket tasted more like liquid smoke and I would agree. "The last of today's pork", was not as painful as the brisket yet not by much. Moving on to the cole slaw which I believe was a red wine vinaigrette. It was not to my liking however it might be to yours. I'll call this a push. Finally the cheesy potatoes. This side was good, moist and tasted as expected. It's unfortunate that this was the best item as I would fully expect the BBQ to be the star. The place is rustic, clean and small. With the draw in Pawhuska being The Pioneer Woman fame and you are a short block walk away. What you serve should be on point. This BBQ experience wasn't.
