Ok, I'll preface this with I KNOW my 'que... I'm a former partner in 3 Guys Smokin', Tulsa original "poster children" for barbecue competitions here. We started in 1987 and founded the Art of BBQ, the former fundraiser for Tulsa's Arts and Humanities Council, as well as the Bixby Blues 'n BBQ competition. Over the years we won MULTITUDES of awards, with our biggest claim that our baked beans took second in the world at the KC Royal. We manufactured and marketed three award-winning sauces and a dry rub. Case made?? Good, keep going please! I accidentally found Luke's a few years back and now I'll drive to Coweta from Tulsa for lunch as it's THAT GOOD!! It's honestly some of the best BBQ I've ever eaten. I went last week for lunch and got my usual, sliced brisket and pulled pork. Both were incredible, but the pork was AMAZING, something that usually doesn't impress me. I can get a butt nice and juicy, but NOTHING like Luke's!!! Not sure if they brine, inject, or what they do?? The meat is soaked with delicious juices and you can tell that it's inside, not just added if that makes sense. The brisket came off the point, which is not what I typically prefer, but it too was incredible. Go early, burnt ends seem to sell out first. Great portions, I always bring home leftovers. Finally made it here. I'm from TX, so I judge every BBQ place by their brisket. Lukes is probably the best I've had in OK (places in Wellston and Pawhuska are pretty close, too). It had a good bark, smoke ring, was tender and had great flavor. The portion size was healthy, too. The okra was average, but the portion size was plentiful. The beans were very good, but sweeter than I prefer. My wife had the beef ribs which were the best outside Kansas City I've tasted. She did not care for the mac and cheese but liked the smoke flavor the the white cheese they used. Order at the counter and they bring the food to you. It is a tiny mom and pop place so be there by 10:30 to avoid a line that steadily grows until opening. Lukes reminds me of some of the best small, local BBQ joints you find all over Texas. Been hearing good things about this place, drove a little more than an hour on a Saturday, arrived at approximately 2:00 pm and they were sold out and had no regrets! Kinda rude so we have no idea how the food is app says open till 7:00pm. Won't be finding out either read more

The food is excellent, good luck getting any of it. The service, facility, and parking are unacceptable. There is never enough parking, and on my last visit, there were even fights in the lot. Cars squeeze in wherever they can, blocking others from leaving, and creating traffic accidents on th ehwy. Even if you find a spot, you face a line of 40 to 50 people competing for one of just five tables. Even calling in an order does not help, because pickup customers are still forced to wait in line. I have heard a lot about this place and went there yesterday for the first time. Got the 3 meat combo with sliced brisket, ribs, and burnt ends. My sides were the fried okra and the coleslaw. Also had to try the peach fried pie. The peach fried pie stole the show, it was amazing and delicious!! However, my unpopular opinion of this place will probably make some mad. The sliced brisket was okay, I felt was lacking flavor. The ribs had a great flavor, but the outer portion was soft... which I was hoping for it to be more crispy, and the burnt ends were okay... they seemed very tough to me. The fried okra was good, but the coleslaw was really runny. It's a good spot for lunch, but I was a little disappointed after all the hype. Overall the service was great and inviting. Luke's has a small hometown feel to it which is nice. Attached is a meat market that I browsed. The meat looked great and I would probably visit them for the meat. Unbelievably good brisket for tacos. No sauce needed because a little pico de gallo and guacamole turn them into paradise in your mouth. We keep two pounds in our freezer as an essential ingredient. We call ahead so we don't miss out (everything sells out quickly) and seating is limited. read more

Real solid' The burnt ends were overcooked, little too fatty for my taste. From there, let's swing upward. Jalapeno sausage was very flavorful. Enjoyed the smoky mac & cheese. Fries were simple, but solid. Pickles were the classic thin-sliced but perfect. Now, the heavy hitters. Brisket had a beautiful fat-cap across the top. Not Oakhart brisket, but well above average. Come to Tulsa every year for the Chili Bowl. Discovered Luke's last year and it did not disappoint this year. Sliced Brisket was amazing!! The bark so good. Baked beans and okra(which I usually think is just fried celery) were perfect! Small dining room so be prepared to stand while you for a table at lunch. Fall off the bone ribs! Awesome flavor! Pulled pork tender and juicy with a little bit of a great tasting crust! It's worth the drive! Hot bbq sauce has just the right heat! Regular sauce is a great compliment although neither is really needed! I'll be back soon! read more

If you looking for a great "hole in the wall" bbq joint, look no further than Luke's BBQ on Highway 51 in BA going towards Coweta! My experience there is always good with the great pulled pork sandwich with fries! Along with a drink, my meal was $17.54! Great meal with a great staff! My review is a great one for Luke and his staff! The sandwich was piled with pulled pork, but my only complaint (and it's a minor one), the fries were a little too seasoned for my liking! The andouille was room temp, Mac and cheese was cold ( got it refunded ) beans were still boiling and okra was the saltiest okra I had in my life. Won't go back. Entering the little restaurant, one foot was in the restaurant and the other still outside; the door had not closed behind me, and the kid manning the cash register demanded "can I get a name for the order." The urgency of his demand was an unexpected greeting. I spotted the menus hanging on the wall, written on butcher paper and chalk boards. I was focused on them. I gave a name, and asked "Can I have a minute to look at the menu?" Sure, he replied, "take your time" and then demanded "for here or to go?" The pressure to place an order was apparent. In less time that I would have like to have had, I decided. Burnt end dinner. Out! Reevaluating the options, I ordered a rib dinner with fries and slaw. For my wife a pulled pork sandwich with baked beans. The rib dinner was $18.95. Everything on the plate was five-star taste and quality. Big meaty tasty ribs with a nice light bark from a perfect rub that didn't overwhelm the subtle smoke or the succulent swine flavor. The fries crisp, hot, seasoned perfection. A delicious cup of fresh slaw on the side. A half slab of ribs. More than I could eat. My wife and I split the fries and three big ribs went home with us. Large portions. A meal that was worth every penny. My wife's regular size pulled pork sandwich, was thick and overflowing with moist, smokey meat. Look at the picture. $7.99, a deal for great BBQ sandwich. The beans were BBQ cook off, competition quality. Infused with a smokey flavor, perfect spice, shredded meat and not sickening sweet. Just right! It is a small restaurant. Limited seating. There are only eight small tables with two chairs each. Grabbing one at lunch hour could be tough. The other pertinent bit of information is posted on the front door. The hours are from 11am to 7pm, OR UNTIL SOLD OUT. The burnt ends must be one of their best sellers. Ok, so looking back on the experience, although annoying, I understand the young man's urgency to get the orders in. The little place moves the meat. From the time we walked in, until we left, the phone is ringing. Call in orders are coming in. Patrons coming and going. Food is flying out the door. Order quicky. Get there before the food is gone. When you step in the door, be ready to order. You might get lucky and snag an order of the burnt ends. Luke's is now at the top of my list for the best BBQ in the Tulsa area. Exceeded expectations. I'm going to categorize Luke's as a hole in the wall; and that is a very good thing! It is built onto a butcher shop and meat market. It is a small business that evidently does a lot of business because if you don't get there early they start selling out of items. When I stopped by they had already sold out of their brisket and burnt ends. I got the 2 meat combo with pulled pork and Andouille sausage. I got the mac and cheese and bbq beans for sides. It has been a long time since I ordered pulled pork that could stand on its own without putting any sauce on it but this one was so good I just wanted to eat it straight up. They gave me two links of the Andouille sausage and it was awesome. The beans were kinda plain but still tasty and the mac and cheese was good. This combo filled me up! I saw a peach fried hand pie and couldn't resist although I had to wait a little while before I had room to eat it. It reminded me of the fried pies my grandmother used to make! Tremendous!!! The brisket literally falls apart in your mouth and the flavors are absolutely immaculate. This is easily the best BBQ I have ever had, and the pricing is very reasonable. The service was great; everyone was so kind and treated us like we were family. When we accidentally spilt our water, the worker cleaned it up for us and was so nice about it. If you look at my picture, portion size was outta this world! And no you can't eat this sandwich by hand you gotta get a knife and fork... slaw was spot on and pretty darn decent. I opted for bologna instead of hot links and that didn't did Sapporo the at all! Lastly the massively coated burnt ends... great smoke right amount of sugar in their coating was just too darn good to stop eating! Worth the stop! Bought some smoked chicken, fries, okra and baked beans. Sat in the fridge for two days, reheated it in the oven and it was still some of the best bbq I've ever had. The okra was picked at the perfect time and cooked perfectly. The beans had an awesome smoky flavor. For sure my favorite bbq beans I've ever had. The chicken fell apart in my mouth.
