Service sucks. Food is good. I have with me my mother on Tuesday November 18, 2025 around 2:00 PM. I am visiting my family from out of town and try to eat here each time I visit. The server was HORRIBLE. It was around 2:00, so maybe she wasn't happy we came in late. First they brought our order, but it wasn't our order, I figured it was the the other tables order and asked if th is was theirs and the days yes. Really nice couple. I love this place. It's becoming one of my favorite go to's for quick and easy barbecue dinner. I get the bologna dinner and for $15. It's a large portion of bologna you get two sides. You could get a half order and then you get one side, but it's just a couple dollars more for the full order so I tend to go that way. This time they gave me so much okra, which was great. I will say I always ask for lots of pickles and onions and I only ever get a little bit of pickle and onion so I could use more of that. Overall, it's always good flavor. Small BBQ restaurant in Tulsa and Broken Arrow. If you are a discounted shopper like myself, you are going to love this restaurant. The Broken Arrow location offers me a total of 14% discount through my Chase Freedom Flex (love this credit card) and Upside. Billy Ray's Catfish & BBQ does not have the best ribs or BBQ. Ribs were less tender and meats were sticking to some part of bones. Fried catfish filets were on the smaller side. Baked beans and green tomato relish sides were good. If you're able to get good discounts, I would recommend to check it out. Without discounts, I feel like there are better restaurants out there with better catfish and BBQ for the same cost. When I think of fried catfish and fried okra, Billy Ray's comes to my mind first. They have the catfish perfected. It's always available on the menu, but it seems to taste even better on Fridays. When I was growing up, home fried okra was a treat. Fights sometimes broke out over who got the crispiest pieces. The ones that were almost burnt. The caviar of fried okra. Today along with the delicious fish, and French fries came a generous serving of well done, crispy crunchy okra. Not a morsal left behind. My wife and I politely shared an order. The catfish were wonderful! Full slabs of meat with a cornmeal coating,,just right! I was not impressed with fish tacos. A small piece of fish laid into a tortilla? Not for me. The staff was super friendly as we walked in to seat ourselves at one of the tables. It's a small spot with a country feel. We got our orders in fairly quickly and the food came out even quicker. We absolutely enjoy our eats here. Today we stopped in from a camping trip. Every time I order, I double the tabouleh with my meals (every visit). To me, the sliced brisket is pretty good. My husband ordered the smoked turkey plate. The ribs are good. We have had nothing but great food and service at the Broken Arrow location. I recommend trying their iced tea!! Omg. We came here and was NOT disappointed! I got the biggest baked potato with chopped brisket that I've EVER seen in my life!! It was super delicious too! We had never been there so they were gracious and let us try the catfish and it was delicious! It's not traditional batter. It's like a cornmeal. So it's not heavy or overpowering! Pretty small inside but super cute decor. We got there right at 11 on a Tuesday and there was a lot of open places for a group of 4 to choose from bathrooms were clean and stocked. As I walked in I was greeted and seated quickly. My waitress was very friendly and was able to give a great advice on the choice of items on the menu. 5 I ordered the two meat with ribs and catfish along with fries as my side. I did enjoy the fish as it was hot and fresh. Really it was the best item on my plate as the fries were not great at all and I only ate a couple of them. The ribs were alright but seemed as if they may have been cooked directly over the flame the whole time. 2 Just based on the service and fish I would be willing to give this place another shot but order something else to see if my experience would change the review. read more

For years, my family and I have been loyal patrons, consistently ordering bbq and catfish. Over time, we have unfortunately encountered a recurring issue: our order frequently contains a mix of freshly cooked and noticeably older, dried-out fish. Today, in an attempt to ensure the quality of my order, I politely asked the young lady at the window to show me the food. Her reaction was both unprofessional and dismissive. She not only refused to show the order but also flippantly told me, "You don't have to buy it." This is a shocking way to treat a repeat customer. The lack of accountability was further compounded when I called the restaurant to express my concern and was met with a shockingly curt and flippant response, advising me not to return. Which is no shocker I'm understanding that is how they treat African-Americans when they just wanna take their money and don't want to give them quality service. Their favorite line is you don't have to come back. We don't want you here. It is disheartening to see a business treat its long-standing customers with such blatant disregard. This experience has made it clear that my years of patronage are of no value to your establishment. Came in and all the tables were full. A girl holding menus talked to me, showed me where to wait, and went behind the counter. Six more parties came in and all were seated before us and all but one party were 2 people just like us. A new couple came and and were immediately seated. When I asked, the woman with black hair told me I didn't put my name down and all the people came before me. When I told her about the girl who greeted me I was told, "that girl doesn't work here." I found a quaint but small local bbq place with friendly staff. I ordered a lunch special with a chopped brisket sandwich and potato salad as well as baked beans and a peach cobbler. The sandwich was ok but not great. A little dry with too much sauce. The potato salad was good. Beans were ok. I didn't care for them much they like the rest of the food lacked a certain star quality that makes a place great. Haven't been to Billy Ray's in a while and was craving some 'cue so dropped by on a frigid January day. I ordered the full order Baby Back Ribs dinner with okra and tomato relish. She ordered the Catfish dinner with brown beans & their new mac 'n cheese. The ribs were a bit dry, but still had a good bite with a nice peppery flavor. The okra is breaded in house and was great and I always love their tomato relish. Her catfish dinner came with 4 fillets. They hand bread these fish before frying and they served fresh & hot. This is the best catfish in the Tulsa area. For a small restaurant they turn out some really great food. Prices are very reasonable and the service is great. read more

Stopped in about 3:00 or so for a late lunch; wife & i both ordered mixed combos. I got double catfish, plus chopped brisket, and ribs, with sides of beans & tabouli. She got sliced brisket, sausage, ribs, and catfish, with tabouli & potato salad. Food was hot & fresh, served quickly, service was friendly. Ribs were good & tender , not dried out , and no "over-smoked" bitterness. Sauce was served on the side...a bit sweet, but i like it that way. Catfish was definitely some of the best I've had locally...probably will be back to do the "all-you-can-eat" catfish dinner, as it was good fish that was well prepared. Unlike some i've tried that was mostly all breading & no fish, this had an excellent ratio of fish to coating, and not excessively salty. Have to say it was better than most of the catfish served in places that specialize in seafood. Winner! All entrees & sides were tasty, & prices reasonable, especially for the qty of food received...kind of wish i had saved room for dessert, saw some pie that looked good. I also have a thing for large portions of incredible filets of delicious fish that are NOT over breaded. It's so easy to do it wrong and here they just do it right! Yes, they have some pretty good BBQ to offer as well, but man, I come back to Billy Ray's for the catfish! I love to support local and having a Billy Ray's in Broken Arrow for me is a huge win. I got spoiled to the quality faire when I lived in Tulsa and was stoked to see one in south BA not far from my new neighborhood! It's not fair for me to not talk about the BBQ. If I were only reviewing the catfish, this would be 5+ stars! THE best catfish I've ever had. We're already looking forward to another dinner out. My hubby and I shared a sampler plate and after the first bite, I wished we had gone with the catfish platter. Next time! The BBQ was really good but I knocked off a star because at 5:30pm on a Friday, they didn't have any baked potatoes ready. The substitute--thin fries--were very good, but I was really wanting a baked potato. We would've had to wait an additional 40 minutes. Friends in the area let me baby sit their kids. went went to dinner at Billy Ray's Bbq. The staff was very patient as we let the kids decide what they wanted from the kids menu. Then the staff quickly served us and the prices and food were both awesome. I had a 3 meat combination platter and the ribs, chicken and sausage, okra loaded baked potato were very tasty. Portion size was huge so I did get a to go box. This was a memorable experience for both the kids and us. I couldn't have asked for a better experience with Billy Ray's staff. This place was great! Super tiny dining area but amazing place to eat. I had the burnt ends and I legit loved them. My parents apparently eat here like twice a week. Hah They also have a drive thru. The last few times we have picked up and they have forgotten our cobbler but this time last night the the ribs were dried out, the chicken was dried out, and the peach cobbler was all crust with just 3 pieces of peaches, they also forgot our pickles,onions-Dinner $40 plus $4 tip. Tonight the manager in charge was so rude to me when I went to pick up my to go order. She quickly expressed her anger with me for wanting to double check my order, which I did only because the last few times we've ordered from them, the orders have been incorrect. Baby back ribs-cut too soon so edges dry and stored in the fridge so a couple were fridge cold Smoked chicken--only thing moist was the skin. Meat had good smoke but dark and white was so dry you better have your drink ready. Fried catfish--only redeeming meat on the platter. If it weren't for the fish and side of fried okra they wouldn't have even gotten 1 star Cole slaw--good, Fries--frozen shoestrings room temp. Bread--two slices of a good packaged off the shelf white bread. 1/2 sweet potato--ok. Nothing to write home about and the 1/2 baked potato was yesterday's. Not fluffy not fully cooked and old flavor. Won't go back unless we just eat fish and can't with good conscious recommend. Oh sauces were too thin and vinegary for my taste. OMG...This place is not much to look at aesthetically, however, what the building itself lacks, its made up with prompt, courteous and efficient service. Above all else, the food is absolutely delicious. You can't miss on anything BBQ related but if you have a penchant for catfish, this is your place. Growing up in Louisiana, I know good seafood and most of all, I know my catfish. This fish is fried the way it's fried all over the south with cornmeal coating instead of batter. It's always piping hot and seasoned to perfection. You can't go wrong with your sides, however, I always opt for fries. BTW, don't forget that Friday night is All You Can Eat catfish.
