Good ole Ace hardware is always there for ya. It really is the most helpful place! Everybody that works there is welcoming and friendly. We fill our propane here every time. Over the years I have been able to count on them. This visit was to replace our trailer key that got melted last week camping. It was well, it was melted but still worked but barely. I had been to HD earlier in the day for other things and attempted to have them copy it. They couldn't. I thought well I bet Ace can.. and I was right! David spent some time on it for sure, he even tried different methods. I am happy to report I just checked the keys and they ALL 3 work! Ace is the place! read more

Customer service is top notch here. Initially, we called to see if they provide key duplication services and McKenzie told us that they did which is great. We walked in and asked where the kiosk was, and they called a service member to help us. The key was made really quickly like within minute. When we were leaving, they were really nice and friendly, the only thing that was wrong was that but it's time we came home, the key didn't really work. Other than that, we were glad to find a key service since Walmart ran out of our key type, and we didn't know where else to go. read more

Oh, my goodness, I can't say enough good things about this place and a special shout out to Craig Clark. No matter what you need, they help and are super nice and friendly. I was just in the store looking for some advice/help because the ceiling fan in my Livingroom wouldn't shut off, It's been running for 3 days; only way to shut it off was to turn off the breaker. Craig Clark was the person who came to my aid, figured out what I needed to do to pair the remote and the fan, gave me friendly and kind help and I came home and did what he told me and it worked like a charm. I go to them for all of my needs, forget Home Depot and Lowe's, you could be in there until the cows come home and no one helps you. Wow talk about having a sick feeling in your stomach after leaving place. I don't know what the issue was with this one particular employee. He weighed between 300 and 400 lb. Sounded obnoxious and look like he could have been a candidate for the show Her Haw Every time I walked away to look at another aisle he would come up there and stop by me I finally asked another employee for help and he comes walking down the aisle and interrupts us. I wasn't even talking to him I in fact I was trying to avoid him. And then I talked to him and explain to him when I need and then he walks away to help somebody with the keys I was so insulted. I don't know why I kept coming by me either every time I went to another part of the store I look up and he'll be right there and he'd stop right by me. I am really creeped out by this The rest of the staff was pretty rude my intuition automatically tells me that somehow these people are having difficulty with non-whites. You know I don't say this much about hardware stores but I actually enjoyed Bill's Ace Hardware in Martinez on Pacheco. The people working there are actually really nice and jump to help you out. I was there just for something basic as I wanted to bbq one more time before it gets super cold... went in to exchange my propane tank and it was very simple. I walked in and was immediately greeted, helped with the exchange of the propane tank and even found. Discount for $10 off my purchase. As the total came out to be round $24 I actually paid around $16.50 with the coupon. I also enjoy going there cause they have things you may not find in other places.... Get ready.... Like different types of PIE? Yes, PIE! You can buy a tumblr, snacks, garden patio items and so much more!! Visited this Ace Hardware location with a drill bit dilemma for which it previously appeared there was no solution. That is, until Eric came to the rescue! He immediately knew exactly which item would best free several tiny, firmly lodged screws I'd been unable to remove from a 3D plate. Best of all, he was even willing to assist with their removal and greatly helped to do so. Exceptional customer service that would most assuredly not be found at any other hardware store. It also bears mentioning that during this visit, several other Ace associates pleasantly greeted and asked whether I needed further assistance, which invokes the personalized feel of vintage, small-town hardware stores. In fact, both Darrion and Melody diligently searched for the correct backup screws and measured to ensure proper fit for my 3D plate. Again, this is dedicated service big-box customers absolutely will not find and the sole reason Bill's Ace Hardware is such a unique store. The service was terrible, we came for a pickup and instead of telling us what we were missing, they decided to speak amongst themselves knowing we we listening and left us hanging. We then canceled the order and decided to buy the item in-store and upon checkout the lady threw the receipt on the floor. At that point I took it as racism because they were treating "specific" people with way more decency. But props to the guy who treated us with a bit more respect. I was visiting a family in Benicia and I have a 400+ miles drive back to SD and I wanted to make sure my coolant was good to go as it was hot. I drove to southampton ace hardware and it was close so I drove to Martinez today. Victor, from ACE Hardware was a God sent. He helped me find the right coolant, got his gear to make sure he wasn't going to burn the splash as my engine was hot. He poured the coolant for me and made sure I was good to go home. The service was beyond excellent. The affordability of their items are wonderful, and the store was well stacked. Thank you Victor. Just had to give a big shout out to the crew at this store. I've shopped here a handful of times and must say, sometimes I forget they are over here, but every time I have come here they are so helpful and so kind. The customer service is on point here and their prices are very competitive with other stores like Home Depot and Walmart. I purchased my Blackstone Griddle here and they helped every step of the way including helping load the beast of a griddle into our car. They even helped find ways to get me some discounts. I just made a purchase online for some plastic shelving units. The same type of product was $100 at Home Depot and only $60 at this store. Bought it online at 5:45 and by 6pm it was ready for pick up. They had a crew of staff help me carry them outside and load my car. This is one of those stores that has a small town mom and pop feel. I now venture to this location as the one I'd trusted, in Pleasant Hill, closed back in July, of this year (tears have finally stopped running down my face since coming to this Martinez location!). I have patronized this business numerous times as I recently was in the other day. I needed tools to help with a clogged drain as well as stuff to help clean oil drippings in my garage. Those that work here are TREMENDOUSLY helpful, & kind, as well as knowledgeable! For example, Chris & Greg have been most willing to help me in the recent trips I made. There is plenty of parking (free like what Bill's Ace Hardware, in Pleasant Hill, had), and the staff here is just as genuinely decent BECAUSE many of them are from the former Pleasant Hill location -- YAY!!! Too, they don't have 'random' hours -- they are open 7am-7pm, Monday-Saturday, and Sunday they are open 8am-7pm. Furthermore, they aren't a monster of a warehouse, like Home Depot or Lowe's, so it makes it easier to shop and get in and get out! Another 'highlight' about this place is they do on-site watch repair!! That TRULY thrilled me! :) Cleanliness is a priority here as the aisles, product displays, and overall interior/exterior atmosphere is organized and clean. Prices are clearly marked, the lighting (inside the building) is stellar, and if you can't find someone to help you immediately, the front desk is quick to call someone to assist -- customer service here is OUTSTANDING! Additionally, masks are worn by ALL employees, as it's clearly stated outside that all patrons coming in are also to wear a mask. In being a Type 1 Diabetic, with a compromised immune system, this gives me some peace of mind, during this horrible year. Regardless of this Bill's Ace Hardware being a bit further of a drive for me, I don't mind as I know it is loaded with the items I need & knowledgeable staff (with great bedside manners). When a business has solid and genuinely pleasant employees, it makes any patron's experience so much better. Thus, it causes customer loyalty. Awesome coupons they send you monthly for discounts and even a watch counter to get your favorite timepiece resized. Anything they don't have they will order for you. I never thought I'd find myself writing a review of a hardware store, but the service I consistently receive from Bill's is so exemplary I can't help chiming in with praise. The store itself is extremely clean and well-organized, and while it is a smaller hardware store I've always found exactly what I needed (and then some). What sets Bill's apart from any other well-stocked hardware store is the caliber of employee you'll find when shopping there. Every single person I've interacted with at Bill's has been polite, helpful, and well informed on their products. In the age of instant gratification internet shopping (which I am well and truly guilty of) I still make the extra drive to Bill's for the helpful service which you won't find at a Big Box store or Amazon. Special thanks to Greg, who was extraordinarily patient with my questions about fence repair and took the time to explain different features of the items I was looking for and why that would matter for my project. I found Supervisor Bobby Duncan who were very polite and professional. We found several options for me and narrowed it down to two options. Great selection, always find parking, good hours. But, Today I was very disappointed with the attitude of the two young men at the cashier registers. I was there with my mother and we were both paying for our purchases separately. My mother asked a question about her item and the guy didn't know, he had an attitude about it. He asked the other guy and that guy had an attitude. I'm not sure why the rude behavior. If it was just one person with an attitude I would chalk that up to a that person having a bad day. But both associates. When customers are paying money in your store when they can get it online for half the price next day. You would think some basic good customer service would be required at a brick and mortar store. We wont be coming back. read more

One of the few places around that will still refill propane tanks, yay! While I was there I needed something to help stabilize my market umbrella in the base, and *two* workers got on it and found a solution (since you can't buy just a replacement plastic ring, apparently), which they provided free of charge. I was assisted by a total of 4 employees and every one was efficient and friendly. I miss their store in Pleasant Hill but don't mind driving to Martinez for that kind of service :) read more
