I'm leaving this review on behalf of my parents as they don't use social media or web services. They visited this location this morning in order to purchase some mask filters, and they were accosted by one of the employees. He rebuked my mother for nothing more than entering the store to make a purchase. He inappropriately questioned and accused them of entering the store as if they forced their way in through the security gate. He told them, "Who the hell do you think you are, coming into my store? You forced those doors open!" In reality, the door was unlocked, the security gate was open, and the lighted open sign was on. When my parents insisted they had done nothing of the sort, this employee continued to berate them. He was mistaken, and absolutely terrorized my poor mother instead of simply acknowledging his mistake. To add insult to injury, they weren't even the only customers or employees in the store! I was astounded upon hearing of this terrible experience from my family. This is no way to behave in front of customers, let alone speaking directly to them so disrespectfully and inappropriately. Especially to an older woman. One of the other employees had to apologize to my parents on behalf of this employee. Absolutely beyond inappropriate behavior from the employee, whose name is ADAM. I understand being concerned about security when operating a business on a busy thoroughfare, but it in no way justifies treating decent people so poorly. I'm concerned that as long as Adam works at Rockler in Concord, customers will be subjected to a painful experience. Beware. read more

This is such a fantastic neighborhood wood and tool shop. The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful. They make you feel welcome the moment you walk in. They have a great selection of tools and supplies, and you can tell they really care about their craft and their customers. I'm especially excited to sign up for one of their classes soon! read more

We went in Rockler in Concord the morning of February 25, 2026 with a cabinet door in hand looking for route bit's to try to match the cabinet door profile. We were the only customers at that time. When approaching the store clerk he continued walking away from us saying yeah yeah I can hear you. When we indicated what we were looking for he waved us over towards the wall stating they are over there and I can't pick it for you. We felt like we were a bother for him to have us in the store and need assistance. We weren't asking for him to select but it would have been nice to have some guidance. The customer service we experienced was the worst I've ever experienced. We did not purchase from this store and we will not go back. read more

Stopped by your store in Novi Mi on Sunday was planning on purchasing a few new lathe tools. while my wife and I were looking over the gouges at least three sales associates walked right by not asking if we would like to see or could use any help, they could tell we where having a difficult time seeing the tools do to the fact that they are attached to the pegs and you cannot hold them to clearly look at them. I understand that these are not inexpensive items and need to be controlled but at the same time I am not going to spend hundreds of dollars without touching them either. So after about a good 20 minute we just gave up. We purchased some Polishing paste and the customer in front of us was asked if he was in the computer when it was my turn to check out nothing was said just the price not have a good day thank you come again nothing I guess I don't look much look like a wood worker or some one who belongs in your store. Don't worry I wont back. I did however go home and turn a pretty nice bowl. read more

This is a review for an employee not for the store. Bruce is the one of the best, he very patiently explained dust collection systems to me one very busy Saturday morning. He was literally working alone (someone did not show up to work) and Bruce went out of his way to make everyone feel like their projects were the only thing that was important at the moment. I saw him drawing up plans for a home made jig, explain to a man about sign making, take care of transactions at the register and explain dust to me all without breaking a sweat. Bruce is a pro and Rockler is very lucky to have him. read more

I'm not sure if this is good or bad, but you need to know what you're doing because help is basically non existent. Definitely not for the novice. No one wanted to help me. They said pick out pieces you need, and because I'm not sure about wood types, I had to leave. I'm going to let my contractor do the buying for a large two wall built in cherry wood bookcase and have him select the store. Rockler Hardware has amazing woodworking classes! I've been searching for epoxy resin river wood table and bench classes, and found classes offered at this hardware store on Eventbrite. Ray, Jesse, and the staff at Rockler are welcoming with excellent customer service. The classes are fantastic and Ray is a very patient and funny instructor with decades of experience woodworking. I've never done any woodworking before and Ray taught me how to use a sander, a router, a drill saw, and a ton of other equipment. I loved the various classes and workshops - the river resin bench is a four series class and the end result was amazing! I definitely could not have done this myself and I'm so grateful to all the staff for teaching me an appreciation of a new craft that I enjoy! read more

So I walk into the store m, greeted by someone I've known for sometime. I say; "Hey, the neck on my drill press broke! Unbelievable right?" "Actually it's not a defect. I'll show you exactly what you were doing. You were pushing down on the drill instead of pushing:down on the press itself...." I could swear he wasn't in my shop at that time, or ever! Further, since when can you not put pressure on the shaft of a: bit, or a chuck like the one I have from Mikita! ????? You know there's a BIG problem, when the retail sales guy is already prepped with the response, AIMED at NOT giving you a refund! It would have been so so much better Rockler, if you proactively came forward and said "Hey we have a problem in this product!" Because you do, and it's not the customer pressing down too hard. I can stand on that Mikita chuck, which looks like yours, it just doesn't break! read more

I got my first introduction to lathe bowl making from Tim at this location and I've been coming back for more classes. I love the woodworking community in this shop. Everyone is very friendly and love sharing their stories. This is now my go to for woodworking workshops. I only wished I lived closer. Ray, Tim, Dan, Stan and everyone who work here are wonderful! Everyone who works there have a genuine passion for what they do. Service is very good. Excellent in fact. It's my go to place for hardware and sometimes for wood. If you're into woodworking or even if you're simply looking for a particular something for your woodworking project, this is the place. In my mind they're comparable to what you get at an ACE Hardware (vs. the big box stores) but more specialized. They have that small business feel and everyone I came in contact with was friendly and passionate about the craft, therefore excited to talk to customers. Just started getting into wood working. Everyone, from the manager (Jesse) down to the folks teaching the classes (Ray, Tim, Dan, Jesse, Kirby) and the employees on the floor have been just excellent in helping myself and my wife picking up this hobby. I have gone back multiple times a day at times with issues I ran into and these folks have spent the time educating us. I really have enjoyed just going over to the store not only to buy items or take classes, but also just to pick peoples minds on stuff and they have been so helpful. Steve was super helpful. I had a question about a cabinet hinge and he was patient, knowledgeable and showed me how to fix it.

Take a "make + take" class! Ray is just the most knowledgeable yet patient instructor, giving expert guidance, along with a few corny jokes, to help you make something you'll be proud of! I took the 2-part charcuterie board class and though I'm a novice with arthritic hands, I now have the most beautiful creation that all my friends are ooohing and ahhhing over. The class size is small so Ray was able to give each of us individual assistance. My classmates each had different skill levels and comfort zones with saws and power tools, and what's great about Ray's technique is he communicates clearly step by step so even the most beginning level student can keep up with the more advanced participants. Outstanding instructor, outstanding class, so much so that I've signed up for another to learn how to make a lazy susan for my kitchen table! read more

Been wanting to stop here on our way through Concord for some time. It is nestled in the shopping center by CVS. If you look to the right of CVS you'll find it. I was surprised at the size of the store. For some reason I thought they would be more the size of Home Depot. They had an amazing section on wood turning/ turning. Thomas was most helpful and told us about how different matierals would react to being shaved down on a lathe. We decided against stone and went with bone acrylic and wood. Great selection. I wanted one of everything but decided on a few then made changes to them. Shall see how they come out. Thomas even gave us tips on the Coffee blank we grabbed that smells like coffee beans- he warned the beans may fall out to be sure to seal it when we are done. Great service. Made a couple jokes and really made it a fun experience. Will definitely be back again when we are in need of blanks or tools. read more

A lot of tools and stuff you won't find in the big box stores but if cost is a factor shop elsewhere. There's plenty of low cost supplies available for projects and gifts. Staff seems friendly and willing to help. I would be interested in their classes but it's too far and a bit out of the way for me from Pleasanton. read more

We love Rockler! My husband and I took one River table class with Ray, and now we've definitely fallen down the rabbit hole! We then took the Turkey cutting board class, pen turning, router flattening jig making, beginning bowl turning and most recently the waterfall table class. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. Ray has spent hours helping us with equipment trouble-shooting at home, and teaching our whole family how to make amazing wood pieces. Robbie is so helpful and friendly every time we come to the store, helping us find everything we need and showing so much interest in our home projects and helping teach some of our classes! Jesse is friendly and knowledgeable, he has been so supportive of allowing us to bring our kids to the classes, and fostering our budding interest in wood working. These guys know their wood! I've recently dipped my toes in the woodworking pool and these guys are like the life guards. They're not afraid to blow the whistle and tell you "No Running"! If you look like you can swim then they'll watch you jump off the high dive but if you're struggling they are the ones that'll dive in to help fish you out. Just don't grab on to them and try to bring them down with you. They deserve to go home to their families. I brought my son to your Concord store to purchase materials and get advice for his Eagle Scout project. Not only did he get no staff help, but we were sold warped boards which made one board unusable and the other board usable but challenging. Since he's the Eagle candidate and not me, I expected someone to ask him if the board would work for his project and help him find a more suitable choice. A hinge on a kitchen cabinet broke. Went to OSH and HD. No help and no match. Went to Ace in Alamo and got great help but didn't carry that hinge either. They sent me to Rocklers. Talk about the value of knowledge and experience. They figured out a good equivalent hinge, gave some tips on replacing the old set and off I went. Hinge worked perfectly. Really surprised by the number of positive reviews. I've been buying from Rockler for the past 25 years and today will be my last day shopping there. I went in the store to purchase a Festool Dust Separator. Found the display model and went to the front desk to ask if they had a new unboxed unit. First, I had to wait until the employee to finish his personal business then told him what I wanted and he said he would have to go to the back of the store, then he continued what he was doing. I started to walk out when he said I'm going, then he came back and said they were out of stock. Another employee overheard the conversation and said there is one in the back that was returned. So I asked him to see the tool before I bought it, and saw it had been used and still had sawdust inside and no packing material. When I asked if he can work with the price, he said we don't discount Festool and I said I don't pay new prices for used tools. read more
