I myself was getting snows installed, not a huge job- but one they got done very quickly and at a great price- something that while meaningful isn't the end all, be all of something as safety sensitive as tires.

Got a new battery from some generic auto shop, dropped it in, all good, but only after spending hours looking for electrical problems elsewhere under the impression my battery wasn't the problem. We got out and found it, so went to visit the tire center and see if they could help us. We dealt with Derek at the front who explained everything, tried to find the tires and get us a price. Caleb went out to the car with us to see if it was fixable. I didn't think it was, and that was fine. I knew we needed new tires at this point. I'd been trying to push it back as long as possible, through fall and winter, basically. Caleb chatted with us as we walked and was just nice to talk to. Derek quoted us as things taking a couple of hours to do, because it was a walk-in without an appointment. I told him as long as he could get us home in time to watch the Blazer playoff game, I'd be happy. That was my big request when it came to the time frame. Our tires are Michelin, rates for 80,000 miles, and we paid less than $400 for a set of 4. I'm a happy camper with that! The whole process didn't take nearly as long as originally thought. My husband and I went to share a hotdog and soda, walked over to St. Vinnie's and I found some great books to review in my blog. Score! This wasn't in my plans, but I'm not complaining. After that, we went shopping in Costco and the car was done just as we were finishing. Derek explained all the warranty information before handing over the keys. One of the things I loved about this experience was how quickly it all went. Yet it didn't feel rushed. Both Derek and Caleb were efficient while making each customer feel like they were the only ones there. Would I return? Most definitely. Derek and Caleb made this an excellent experience. Both listened to everything we said, answered questions, and were fast and efficient. Great customer service, in my opinion.

Yes, their prices are higher, but I've always justified it because of the guarantee, free flat repairs, and replacement if a tire is irreparable. I've thought of it as "tire insurance." A couple of weeks ago, I had a flat. They repaired it, but it turned into a slow leak. I arrived at 9:00 AM this morning with only three people ahead of me. They aired up the tire and said I was in the queue. When I returned around 9:50 AM, a flood of walk-ins had arrived. I was told I had an appointment in an hour--then 1.5 hours later, still nothing. Eventually I was informed it wasn't "technically" an appointment. After decades of loyalty, this was a huge customer service failure. Very disappointing. It seems like every time private equity buys a company, the service quality declines--and sadly, Les Schwab appears to be going down that path.
