The chain store down the street would have tried him on for size, upselling him some O' Reilly sourced calipers, new rotors and possibly wheels and tires as well- all for complaint of a little pulling. I myself was getting snows installed, not a huge job- but one they got done very quickly and at a great price- something that while meaningful isn't the end all, be all of something as safety sensitive as tires.

I went it at the appointment time, had a friendly person tell me the wait would be no longer than 1 hour. The would even check my wiper blades. While I was waiting I enjoyed free popcorn and the sight of a man wheeling/coaxing by hand four tires all together across the floor, the best thing I would surely witness all day. I observed with amusement that the required dress code requiring white shirts makes little sense for those in an occupation that requires contact with dirty car parts. When it was close to done, someone came and gave me the results/report card for my car. A few minutes later, another person drove my car back to the parking lot and checked me out so I could go home. I turned into the Mobile Station there on Highway 99. An attendant there saw my quickly-deflating tire and told me about Tomlin's just up the road. I couldn't have been luckier that it was so nearby. I pulled in front of the office and frantically informed Perry and Michelle that I was rushing to the airport. They sprang into action, repairing the tire for a very reasonable price. In only about five minutes, I was already back on the road on my way to the airport. I am writing this review from my seat on the flight I was able to make, thanks entirely to the incredible customer service and handiwork of Perry, Jaydon, and Michelle. We got out and found it, so went to visit the tire center and see if they could help us. We dealt with Derek at the front who explained everything, tried to find the tires and get us a price. Caleb went out to the car with us to see if it was fixable. I didn't think it was, and that was fine. I knew we needed new tires at this point. I'd been trying to push it back as long as possible, through fall and winter, basically. Caleb chatted with us as we walked and was just nice to talk to. Derek quoted us as things taking a couple of hours to do, because it was a walk-in without an appointment. I told him as long as he could get us home in time to watch the Blazer playoff game, I'd be happy. That was my big request when it came to the time frame. Our tires are Michelin, rates for 80,000 miles, and we paid less than $400 for a set of 4. I'm a happy camper with that! The whole process didn't take nearly as long as originally thought. My husband and I went to share a hotdog and soda, walked over to St. Vinnie's and I found some great books to review in my blog. Score! This wasn't in my plans, but I'm not complaining. After that, we went shopping in Costco and the car was done just as we were finishing. Derek explained all the warranty information before handing over the keys. One of the things I loved about this experience was how quickly it all went. Yet it didn't feel rushed. Yes, their prices are higher, but I've always justified it because of the guarantee, free flat repairs, and replacement if a tire is irreparable. I've thought of it as "tire insurance." A couple of weeks ago, I had a flat. They repaired it, but it turned into a slow leak. I arrived at 9:00 AM this morning with only three people ahead of me. They aired up the tire and said I was in the queue. When I returned around 9:50 AM, a flood of walk-ins had arrived. I was told I had an appointment in an hour--then 1.5 hours later, still nothing. Eventually I was informed it wasn't "technically" an appointment. After decades of loyalty, this was a huge customer service failure. Very disappointing. It seems like every time private equity buys a company, the service quality declines--and sadly, Les Schwab appears to be going down that path.
