I have been incredibly remiss for not previously reviewing Beyond Bread. My only excuse is that they are such a regular part of my life that I take them for granted. Their rye bread has been a permanent staple in our house for years and I've enjoyed their sandwiches on many occasions with girlfriends. Yesterday, I ordered a large rye, sliced, and my hub rode with me to pick it up because my auto needed gas and he prefers to pump it for me (sweetie!). I suggested we pick up lunch when we got the bread and I'd buy. He checked the online menu and decided on Stan's Stack. I ordered Betty's Brie, which is my choice 95% of the time. I was sorry to see that the Uber-convenient curbside pickup is no longer in place, but the hub ran in to pick up our order and didn't wait long. We made our fuel stop and went home to eat. You need to know that my darling hub is not a foodie. He says he eats to live, but though that is an exaggeration, he isn't one to rave over his meal (unless he hates it!). He did rave over his sandwich, how fresh the veggies, how stuffed with tasty turkey, how delicious the bread, even the kettle-style chips rated a compliment. And he's right. My fav, Betty's Brie, is done on baguette and has rare roast beef, thick slices of Brie, and sliced tomato. I love it. These sandwiches take two sittings to complete, so we finished them off for lunch today. I have to say them suffered very little from an overnight hiatus. And the hub continued with his compliments. So this five-star rating for Beyond Bread is well deserved over many visits and years. I'm just sorry it took me so long to say so. read more

I love this local place except for the fact that they have NO English breakfast tea!!! What are they thinking! Earl Grey is not the same!

So glad I'm closer to the Tucson area now - it means I can frequent one of my favorite spots- Beyond Bread. Breakfast is my favorite ( French toast or Avocado toast) and love the oat milk lattes. I loved the tuna melt I had here with a side salad. I'd had pies from their bakery before and had been wanting to try their main restaurant for lunch sometime. I'm glad I did! I always like Beyond bread. They have a couple good vegan options available. I like the UNReal Ruben, ask for the vegan version. The patio is dog friendly, I enjoy sitting outside. Inside can become a bit of a zoo during peak lunch hour. Sometimes when the line is too long, I grab a table outside and order online. Saves me from having to stand in line. I do wish they had a bigger variety of chips, but that's a minor issue for me. read more

I like this place for a pleasurable lunch. It's usually crowded so if you don't like crowds you should carry out. Be careful with what you order. Many sandwiches are heavy with bread. Too much bread for many of the sandwich selections and somewhat dry. Be sure to asked for extra condiments to add just in case you are not sure. The more times I've eaten here, the more I've come to love it. I'm a soup lover and their chicken tortilla is delicious. I also really dig their hot sandwiches, like the Parm. I think the reason I didn't live it before, is because it was always on the weekend when they're just too busy for my liking. Stopped in for a sandwich to go, and found myself in a place that has a coffee bar, a good size dessert choice, and good selection of bread as well. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, and the place was clean and well maintained. They have a large variety of sandwiches to choose from, along with soups, sides, salads, and mac & cheese. Also serve breakfast sandwiches as well. The sandwich I got was called Maddy's Madness (chicken, bacon, provolone, avocado, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, on a toasted multigrain bread). It was pretty good, and bread was fresh and soft. Definitely worth stopping by for a lunch visit. read more

I do not know how anyone with tastebuds can eat in this place. I ordered a tuna and cheese sandwich; bread was hard as a rock and tasted like sawdust. Next, my tomato soup was so acidic I could not eat it. Next, my "banana" bread, which was tiny, had chocolate drops and some sort of fake cheesecake blob was absolutely disgusting. Fantastic place to grab breakfast pastries, lunch sandwiches, or just a place to hang out. The portions are huge, so make sure you come hungry or just know that you will have seconds or enough for a second meal. Really loved the focaccia bread, and wish we had a local bakery like this in the Bay. There are tons of options for vegans or vegetarians as well. Came here after a hard hike to Sabino Canyon to refuel. Ordered and got served our sandwiches fairly quickly. I ordered Carols Cornucopia with the pasta salad; sandwich was turkey with cranberry bread, which tasted good but the bread crust was way too hard. Pasta salad tasted undercooked so we swapped it out with kettle chips. My sister got the Paulys Pesto, which was chicken with artichokes, sun dried tomatoes and pesto on focaccia bread. This sandwich was quite delicious, warm melty cheese. Classic sandwich and chips combo that you can't go wrong with. Think the food was ok for the price. I love kouign amann and this is one of the few places to get it in Tucson. I have enjoyed it very much in the past, however the past two weeks I've had one, the salt was missing. A true kouign amann should be finished with sugar AND salt. read more

Walked in for a pick up order and waited 5 minutes before someone noticed. Picked up order and walked out. Drive home and the order was all wrong. I did call and ask for a manager and he was very apologetic and offered a credit or a gift card. He also stated he would speak to the sandwich line for feedback which I think was a perfect response! Of the 15 times I have been here for my sandwich and chips this was the first mistake (other than placing lemon bars on top of each other when ordering 2 or more Where they stick together ). Recently came back for lunch which was fantastic! Had my usual Brie and ham on a baguette. I'd love to try more things here but I'm in love with this combination. My mom ordered the Reuben and said it was the best she had ever had! Hello, I just placed a large online order and this is literally the sixth time I've ordered an Unreal Rueben Vegan Style and have received it with cheese. It doesn't matter if it's in the restaurant or ordered online. The North location is absolutely the worst. To top it off, we ordered a banana bread and received some sort if pie. I called the restaurant and the manager said sorry we'll refund you for the items. Doesn't fix the issue with two people not having food to eat now. So I'll start ordering from another business since this one can't seem to get it right. I order for my team from various restaurants weekly and I'll make sure I don't order at the North location. We were visiting our family in the area and we stopped in for a bite to eat. We had already looked them up on Yelp and the photos of desserts are what drew us in. Unfortunately the desserts we saw were unavailable. We decided to get a sandwich and salad as our dinner. The sourdough bread was very hearty and filling. I absolutely LOVE this business! Unfortunately there are no inside seating with the exception of a few tables on the side which is mutually, partially outside. The food is stunning quick, made truly fresh each day and spot on. They strive for your business, and you'll never wait beyond five minutes for food in my experience. Eating here for 6 years, I've never once had a sub-par meal. Outdoors, due to Covid-19, they're running electric heaters so you have at least a small opportunity to sit and eat on the patio. A bit pricey but you certainly get a delicious meal unlike other 'sub' sandwich shops. On a separate note, this place is ALWAYS busy! Oh my god! This place deserves more than the OMG acronym. We LOVE this place and when we travel To Tucson it's right up there with Pima museum, check. Winterhaven Christmas lights. Check. Have a Rachel (turkey version of a Reuben) at beyond bread. I wish they had one in San Diego! My hubs had the tuna salad and loved it. That I don't get, but that's why there's chocolate and vanilla. I've had Beyond Bread at lunches that were catered, but my first time eating there I was surprised at how much they had to offer in regards to lighter foods! I ordered the half sandwich and side of soup, it was affordable at $8.15 and I had half of the sandwich left for later! They have a bakery called "The Backdough", I didn't get a pie, but they looked fantastic and I've heard they have great pi day sales. Overall, this is definitely a place I would go back to eat lunch and I can't wait to go buy a pie! read more

Love this place! The deserts are on point! I've been to Beyond Bread a few times and when in Tucson I must go!

We visit BB when Barrio Bread has already run out or closed for the morning. Alas, our last visit (December 26th) was a quick Saturday morning run to pick up some supplies for making a batch of exotic french toast for our visiting guests. Barrio was closed for the week so we rerouted to Beyond. At the bakery we spotted a loaf placard that read: "date/pistachio." Bingo, we thought, that would be awesome. When we got home I immediately shaved off the end to chew on as we readied the eggs but was dismayed to discover... the strong flavor of fennel (licorice)! Sure enough, mingled with the dates and pistachios were tons of little anise seeds... like a rye bread. This is Not Fr toast material. We called and they were all stunned as well. I confirmed that the bonus seeds were not posted on the placard in front of the bread bin. Moreover, the cashier/helper never mentioned the surprise ingredient either. The manager, Josh, at that time, wasn't aware either, which is why he was surprised and said they would test the batch of loaves immediately. He offered to replace pronto, but we'd already driven 40 min (round trip) for this special culinary adventure and didn't want to delay bfast any further (with the eggs already whisked we ended up using plain white bread from the fridge). BB took our name and said they'd send a gift card. A week later, it arrived... $5. C'mon BB, that just barely covered the cost of the loaf we'd originally bought (and couldn't finish, bleh). Was I over optimistic expecting $15, or even just $10, to remedy the wasted drive; the ruined brunch (and our reputations for excellent taste in the eyes of our guests)? I get that mistakes in the kitchen happen but that resolution just seemed so... empty. Thus, sadly, ended this story on a bitter note (licorice having again stolen the last laugh). Enjoyed a carrot cate and extra hot chai for dessert after dinner. My family and I love coming here for desserts. Out favorite is the carrot cake, it is the best carrot we have had in town! I have also tried the magic bars and their Magic Bars Cheesecake and it is absolutely delicious, and their tomato soup which is so good also. My dad's 2nd favorite is the keylime pie. The staff is always very friendly. I think the prices are very fair as well. The slices of cheesecakes are a big portion, definetly shareable sizes. If you have a chance to stop by and relax, do so. I grew up going to Beyond Bread. It was a staple for my family and we would often get loaves of their white/sourdough to go to enjoy at home. I went yesterday to get some - had been years. I am so disappointed with the size of the bread. I'm not sure if the sandwich bread they sell in the restaurant, maybe is bigger, but the size of the bread to go is so small. I saw these restaurants around town. I did some research and I saw really good reviews on this so for my boyfriends birthday we came here for like a brunch. So I was really amazed I'm not gonna lie. There was a lot of different kind of breads to eat and sandwiches, of course and soups, I ended up actually getting the bacon mac & cheese. My boyfriend end up getting a sandwich of some sort. He actually really liked my mac & cheese so he kept trying to eat my mac & cheese while I was trying to enjoy it. Which I found super funny. It did take some time for the food to get to us, but there wasn't any issue because I knew they were making it fresh. would recommend this restaurant. I adore this place. Honestly, I think I come here a minimum of 2/3 times a month when I'm in town. I've never had a bad experience at a single location. Everything is always done right here. My mom tried something new today and got the BLT with tomato soup. She said it was great. We definitely recommend getting sourdough bread for any sandwich or side. I had the south by southwest salad. Beyond Bread is a great sandwich shop that has a full bakery and breakfast menu. This location was very efficient and I was impressed by the COVID-19 precautions. They had plenty of social distancing and hand sanitizer on the premises. We picked up sandwiches before our drive up Mt. Lemmon and everything was accurate and tasted fantastic. I tried a vegetarian shawarma and it was unique but tasted great. The rest of the crew went more traditional, and while everything was good the bread was absolutely amazing!
