I popped in today when I was on a walk with my friend and our babies. I love this location because it is super open and cute. It is also in a prime location. As always, Better Buzz did not disappoint. I got an iced hazelnut divinity 1/2 sweet and it was SO delicious. If you've never been to Better Buzz before, their drinks run sweet, but you can easily order it 1/2 sweet or even 1/4 or 3/4 sweet. I didn't get any food this time, but I can attest their food is delicious too. Nancy was the worker who helped us and she was amazing. I always love Better Buzz. This was my first time to this coffee shop. My second time to La Jolla. This was a very good find. I didn't try any of the pastries or food although they did look very yummy. However, I did have the very best cold brew that I've ever had. It was a cinnamon cold brew that I know wasn't a skinny version and may have had quite a bit of sugar, but it was worth every sip if I ever get back to La Jolla this is a must stop. read more

I had an unpleasant experience with the service at this location at 8:26 am on a Wednesday. I got the Hazelnut Divinity drink, very excited to try it with my family because it is their first time and it's my second time having this drink so I'm aware of how good it should taste. However, upon receiving the drink and tasting it, it had some sort of fruity flavor? I'm not sure the reason behind it, but my whole family tried it and also agreed that it doesn't fully taste like hazelnut as it should be. So, due to this I asked the worker named Vincent about this mishap, but immediately after I said what we were tasting he says "How could it possibly taste like that" or some other words along the line of questioning me on how I would be tasting such flavor and gave me attitude as if I did something to the drink; as if I'm the problem here. My whole family tried it and all agreed that the great hazelnut flavor wasn't there and something was definitely off. But after giving me a face and saying stuff in a tone that truly wasn't needed, he finally said he will remake my drink. But before all this, there was no need to say all that to a customer just trying to solve the issue in a calm manner (mind you I said in a polite way). It got to the point where I was the one saying sorry since the vibe he was giving me was like I did something wrong. Thankfully another lady who was also working at the time remade my drink and finally the correct taste was there (she was very kind about it, which was definitely the way to go). The drink was amazing but the customer service I experienced, not so much. All I wanted was to make my coffee drink right. read more

After a sunny afternoon at La Jolla Cove, I was desperate for a smoothie or latte. Happy that Better Buzz has both! I got the pink dragon (pitaya) smoothie & although it wasn't as sweet as I would've liked, it was still refreshing. Tasted earthy/healthy in a good way. Food was good. Service was TERRIBLE!!!! The Caprese sandwich, bacon ciabatta, spicy ranch chicken wrap and turnkey pesto were fresh, tasty and delicious. Service was DEFINITELY lacking as every single employee did not appear to be happy to be working, no smiles, no acknowledgment snd no eye contact when they WERE forced to have to make contact with a customer. The place was PACKED as the very popular pancake house next door was extremely crowded so this was the only alternative within walking distance. Also, be prepared for the cashier to shove the debit card reader in your face when it is time to include a tip as she did so to me and every single customer I observed while I waited and waited and waited some more for my food. The girl making coffee was TERRIBLE as she was VERY rude and short with EVERY single customer. My order came out one item at a time which forced us to start eating at different times And finally, the only guy working behind the counter was bad. He was clearly overworked, short and had no customer service skills. He appeared to become agitated when I asked for a status on my smoothie. It had been fifteen minutes and I noticed that customers who placed their beverage orders after my order, were being called to pick their orders up from the counter. I mentioned this fact to this male employee and his exact words to me were, "we are busy. It will be ready when it is ready". I waited a few more minutes, he finally grabbed my smoothie from a small window leading to the kitchen, slid it across the counter without saying a word and turned to start doing something else within arms reach. I stated, "thank you" in a loud but appreciative manner and this dude did not bother to acknowledge me even after I had just spent over $80.00 on four sandwiches, one smoothie and two small sodas.
