I was so excited to finally try Besties Table after hearing so many great things, and now I can confidently say the hype is deserved! The restaurant is on the smaller side, but it's warm, cozy, and welcoming. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the service was impressively fast. The menu isn't huge, but don't let that fool you, you'll have no trouble finding something you'll love. In fact, I had a hard time narrowing down my choices because everything sounded so good! I decided on the chicken and waffles with the lemon chicken, along with the deviled eggs topped with bacon and chives. Everything was absolutely delicious. The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy, and the combination of the bright lemon flavor with the sweetness of the waffle was incredible. The waffle itself was cooked perfectly. And the deviled eggs? They tasted just like the ones your favorite aunt brings to the family cookout! The bacon and chives took them to the next level and are definitely worth adding. Overall, we had a fantastic experience. Great food, great service, and a cozy atmosphere. My bestie and I finally made plans to visit The Besties Table (no bestie required to attend lol) for a Sunday Brunch catch up. We checked the IG page prior and confirmed that there are no reservations accepted. Now they've been open officially for about a couple months so we figured the hype might have died down. Nope. One we showed up at 12pm on a Sunday, prime Brunching hours. Still we kept on and put our name on the list. What was estimated as an hour and fifteen minute wait, turned into a little less than 30 minutes. Yay! We requested 1st available so we sat at the bar. The place itself is pretty small. Our server/bartender Rachel took our drink orders and we grooved to the sounds of the dj while we waited. We both ordered the Main Character Lemonade with vodka and it was refreshing. Then it was time to order food. That was thee hardest part. Though the menu doesnt have a lot of options, all of them sounded good. Our eyes diverted to someone else food that was just served which led up back to the IG page to see what new items were available. Just our luck the Breakfast bowl was listed. My bestie chose that option while I finally decided on the catfish & grits topped with crab. We split an order of deviled eggs. Oh yea, we each also ordered lamb chops and a chicken wing flight. The breakfast bowl came out first and we both tried it and oooooomygawwdd was it so good. Im not a fan of gravy but baby that went out the window. The turkey gravy, fried chicken pieces, scrambled eggs, and potatoes in each bite was so satisfying. My catfish & grits came out and honestly couldn't compare. I mean it was good but the breakfast bowl was better. So you already know what ill be going for upon my return. For whatever reason, the only picture that saved to my camera roll was me in the bathroom lol. We went on Sunday and were quoted about 40 minutes Wait time. We got a text that said our table was ready after 45 min and when we go up to the hostess, they said it was a mistake and it would be 15 more minutes. It ended up being 20. So I think we waited a little over an hour before we actually got to sit down. They had a DJ and it was very loud. I'm not sure if they have a DJ all the time or if it was just on Sunday. But me and the tablemates had to yell at each other to be able to have a conversation. All that being said, it was good vibes! The inside is absolutely stunningly beautifully decorated. I love all of the live plants. The bathrooms were top-tier. A lot of love, care and thought went into this place. I can tell. And the food? Out of this world! I had the chicken and waffles and it was the best chicken and waffles that I've ever eaten in my life. My table mates had catfish and grits and then a breakfast bowl that wasn't on the menu. They raved about their dishes as well. I know that they are newly opened and they're still working out adjustments and kinks and we are more than patient and willing to wait as long as the food and atmosphere make up for it and it surely did!! I was excited to try this as I was staying downtown the night before so was much closer to it. What an adorable place! Quickly and warmly greeted upon entering, we were led to our table and our server was just as friendly! I couldn't decide so they recommended I try the French toast flight and get the maple garlic wings and so glad I did! Those wings were perfection!! I was so excited to try them that I forgot to take a pic first!! Eek!! So there were six in my order to start! I also really enjoyed the French toast flight, but quickly was getting full, so I finished my favorite piece which was the banana nut, followed by the blueberry, and I took the strawberry and peach one home to finish with the rest of the wings. My husband chose the sausage gravy which came with the eggs, the potatoes, the biscuits, basically all the food because he chose the upgrade. I took a small bite of the gravy and I have to say it was definitely some of the best sausage gravy I've had in a restaurant. I'm very picky when it comes to my sausage gravy and I would definitely have ordered it. Their drink menu looked fantastic, but we were there pretty early and just wanted coffee, which was also very good. They do have a small attached parking lot and it can be pretty tight, but we were lucky enough to get a spot in the parking lot. I arrive around 10:15 on a Saturday morning because I heard there is a wait. Got there put my name on the list while my friend arrived. The host was nice and welcoming. There wasn alot of parking but there is street parking. I think I only waited about 20 minutes before getting seating at the bar. I liked that they had hooks for purses but my purse was a little heavy for the hook. Our "bestie" at the bar could have been a little warmer but she was fine otherwise. The menu was available both digitally and on paper. I ordered a half order of hot honey wings to start and they were very good. My Peach Dont Kill My Vibe was good. The only major issue I had at this restaurant was when my drink was made. I watched my "bestie" put the stir spoon for my drink on the bar counter and then use the same spoon to mix my friend's drink. I don't know how often the bar counter is cleaned so it was just the one thing that took away from the experience. Moving on to the loaded biscuits and gravy, that meal was worth every penny. You can tell someone put love in that gravy. The biscuits were nice as well, it was like cutting through butter. I took half home and ate the rest the following day. It tasted even better in my opinion. The only thing is I wonder if I could ask for a more baked biscuit. Overall, I shall return to Besties Table. It was so good and I got my money's. I ordered The Blueberry Boss drink and it was super cute!!!! I couldn't get over it! And taste really good!!! My husband loves a good mule and ordered their version. I'm not a mule drink lover but I thought this mule was the best one I've tasted! Then for food we ordered: -gumbo grits: amazing! Came out piping hot and topped with shrimp and gumbo. Would love some sweet honey cornbread to go with it! -French toast flight: seriously the best French toast I've ever ordered. My family planned a visit to Besties Table for a Sunday Funday, and overall it was a decent experience! We anticipated a wait (about an hour). Once seated, it took a little while for our server to greet us, but when she did, she was pleasant and walked us through the menu. We did have to ask for a drink menu, and our beverages took about 20-25 minutes to arrive, which was a bit of a delay but again totally expected that for a newer spot still finding its rhythm. The food came out in waves, and we ordered a variety: honey hot wings, lemon bay wings, chicken and waffles, French toast, gumbo grits, and biscuits and gravy. The flavors were really good! The only hiccup was the shrimp in the gumbo, which seemed a bit overcooked, so we sent it back. We weren't able to order a replacement dish and didn't get much context around that, other than it would take away from other customers, not really sure what that meant. The R&B playlist was a great touch and added to the atmosphere, though at times it was a little hard. All in all, the potential here is there. The food was good and the portions were solid. Most of the challenges we experienced felt like normal growing pains for a newer restaurant, and I'm sure they'll smooth things out as they continue to settle in. From the moment I walked in it didn't feel like a business it feels like ur going to someone's place to hang out. The service is incredible our waitress Courtney was so friendly, she is knowledgeable of the menu, she provided wonderful recommendations, which I love. N the food OMG the Food is definitely the star of the show. I love how the kitchen is set up almost like an apartment kitchen. The drinks are beautiful tasting and pack a punch. My husband and I came here for breakfast. We were unsure if they were kid friendly so we asked and they are! They had a high chair for our son. The staff were very friendly and quick. We ordered the deviled eggs as an appetizer which were super delicious- creamy and flavorful. You don't often think of deviled eggs for breakfast but it worked. I got the chicken and waffles and my husband got the French toast flight. I enjoyed the flavor and crispiness of the wings. My husband really enjoyed the French toast as well. Our table started out with the lemon bay wings and the besties deviled eggs. At first bite....I could the wings were seasoned and THEY WERE WONDERFUL! We had our topped with bacon but I wish we would have went with the shrimp (as my main dish came with bacon). At this point my expectations were high! My main dish was the All American version of the Biscuits & Gravy. Hands down the best biscuits I've ever had!!!The biscuits were fluffy, the bacon was seasoned, potatoes crispy, the eggs were soft and also fluffy, and the gravy....PHENOMENAL! You could taste the hearty southern flavor throughout the dish....the gravy sealed the deal! To drink, I had the Blueberry Boss - it was sooooo good! I'm a sucker for sweet drinks so this was up my alley. It wasn't overly strong and was a wonderfully styled drink. We waited two hours, we chose to wait, so no issue there, however once we sat down, there were two of the three items sold out & they were only able accommodate 4 to a table. We had a party of 6. Just a little disappointing. We didn't order and decided to leave. This was a Sunday morning, around 10 am. The second time we went, it was about 9 am on a weekday. 4 of us went, we were able to sit together & got right in. We ordered the three menu items & the four appetizer items. We split everything & enjoyed each item. I think this place would do well in a bigger space which may also be able to accommodate larger parties also. "The besties table" has that ring to it that makes you want to go with all of your girlfriends. Overall good food & good experience! read more

The Bestie's Table was packed when we arrived, but the time passed quickly as you get acquainted with your new "besties" you're waiting next to by the front door. Honestly, probably need to continue to give this place time to figure it out. I came here with a group of 5 ladies. We were told there was a 45 minute wait. We ended up waiting almost 2 hours. Once we got seated they informed us we couldn't sit together. That it was a fire hazard. So we sat apart, and the server comes over and lets us know they didn't have waffles or shrimp. The menu is already small so that didn't leave us many options. We decided to leave. Being out of key items is definitely something you should inform your customers on had I known that I wouldn't have waited. I hope they figure it out. read more

I see I'm first to review, so I must make it good. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! Located just off the west end of the University of Indianapolis ( U of I ) on Shelby Street just south of Hannah AVE. I first learned of Besties from the Travelingfoodieguyde on IG and he gave rave reviews. I had to check it out for myself. That all said, we visited Besties on Easter morning at noon and the parking lot was full and so was the restaurant. 45min wait for a table but immediate seating at the counter which we took. The help staff makes you feel welcomed, appreciated and like you're family. The one thing I liked was that the place had a feel or atmosphere like you're visiting an out of town place. Beautifully decorated with warm colors, lighting, different whatnots on shelves like the 'Breakfast Bible' and other things. You could see the owner chef Tyler William's in the back directing and orchestrating what chefs do. His oldest brother and mother apart of the staff to make all things come together for good! One TV screen mounted close towards the kitchen area ran the news while the one closest to the entrance had nice gospel music playing. A nice touch for a Sunday morning for sure. The food was so so good, no great! The lady who sat next to me told me that we may have to wait a bit for our food but it'll be well worth the wait and she told no lie. It was fantastic! I'm one who doesn't eat red meat or pork, so to have my favorite biscuits with turkey gravy, 2 eggs scrambled with potatoes was delicious! The eggs were so light and airy, the gravy was a nice consistency, great tasting biscuits and the potatoes had steam coming from them like I've never seen before and they were of a soft, yet slight crisp skin and seasoned well. My wife had the Belgian Waffle since French Toast was sold out. She loved the waffle as did I enjoy my dish. We both also had a couple of cocktails as we waited for our meal. My wife enjoyed a Mogul Mule while I had the best Old Fashioned I've ever had in my 69yrs on this planet! As I told Cierra who served us and made my drink before me, "all I needed was a good Cuban cigar to go along with this drink." People were consistently coming in while we were there and it was around 2pm guest entering were told what wasn't available on the menu but they could still be seated if that was okay, but at 2:15 pm guest entering were told they couldn't be accommodated, apologized to and asked to please come back again. It is my understanding this was like the first week of full business and it was a huge success and from a personal opinion, I think, feel, believe and hope they'll succeed exceedingly and abundantly beyond all expectations, which leads to maybe a larger location. I'm really expecting great things from Besties Table Breakfast and Brunch. Will I be back? ABSOLUTELY! Went for brunch and checked in at 1145a. The hostess told me hour. Hours lasted got seated . Waitress asked for our drink orders then came B back 10mins without drinks asked were we ready to order out entree. We place our food order waited another 15mins and our drinks finally came. Disappointing no bacon or sausage. I got the French toast and it was cold and not so special. I ordered a peach mimosa and all the flavor remained in the bottom of the flute. However, my friend and I got there at 12:40 and they said it was an hour and a half wait so we left and went to a different establishment while we waited on them to text us. They texted us "thanks for allowing us to serve you etc" we were puzzled because we were never served. We went back and they said they had texted us that our table was ready and we showed them we never got it. They ended up seating us anyway at the bar. Upon sitting at the bar I immediately notice how messy it was on their bar countertops with cleaning supplies, the workers Stanley cups positioned where patrons can see, super unsanitary. Also we were right next to the kitchen which is open and saw the workers eating without gloves on as they are preparing the food.. one even had a half drank Starbucks latte in the middle of two plates he was actively preparing... like what?! Not only that but we waited all that time for them to tell us nearly everything on the menu was SOLD OUT!!! Grrrrr!!!! I really hope they get it together. I recently visited Besties Table to celebrate my niece's birthday, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. When we (party of 3) checked in, we were told the wait would be about an hour. We were fine with that because it was a Saturday and this is a new establishment so we waited patiently, but after an hour we never received a text that our table was ready. After checking in with the male host, we were told they weren't ready yet but would call us shortly. As we continued waiting, we noticed several groups who arrived after us being seated before us. At one point, the owner came out to greet some of his friends, took pictures and showed them his new car. During this time, he didn't acknowledge any of the guests who had been waiting outside in the sun. A simple acknowledgment or apology for the delay would have gone a long way, but instead, he instructed the host to seat his friends next cutting them in front of everyone else that had been patiently waiting over an hour. After waiting an hour and a half, I checked again with the host, only to be told he didn't know where we were on the list because the owners mom had taken over and it seemed our party check in had been lost. He also mentioned that they were now only serving chicken and French toast. At that point, I asked to be removed from the list, and we decided to go elsewhere. We came in today, so excited to try and support another black business. There was nine of us greeting was exceptional. We went to our table. This is where I began to have a problem . They wouldn't allow us to put tables together. We were celebrating a birthday. We ordered our food. The problem with that is everybody's food came out at different times so some of us were done eating before the other one even got their food. The fish was cooked to perfection. The grits I thought they should've asked whether the person wanted sugar in the grit and not just assume somebody wanted cheese in the grits. We end up spending over $300 for all nine of us to eat eat there. My grandson didn't even get his food until everybody was done the chicken wings. I felt like they were dry. My granddaughter pushed them out of the way .It was Like they were reheated. I just feel like the fact that we came in there as a group and I know the seating is very small We would have been better off taking it to go. I know that is not a large place but to not be able to sit together then we didn't get our food altogether. Was a little disappointing, considering we were celebrating a birthday and we could've went anywhere in Indianapolis and we chose this establishment. It was just sporadically so some of us had to watch the other one eat. After they ate, they had to wait on us. My grandson was the last we had to remind the waitress to get his food. She was really nice really pleasant, she apologize for the way she put in the order, but there wasn't anything done about it other than making us wait so he could eat his food then he felt rushed. I don't feel like the chicken wings were fresh so if I have to rate this establishment from 1 to 10, it would be a 2. . We didn't get to eat together and then my grandson like I said, I've said it several times in here he didn't get his food until the last minute. read more
