It's interesting to see the difference between the products at each location. This location has a larger selection of TVs compared to Orem location which is nice; however, they need to improve on the warranty offers compared to their competitors. It's hard to go with them when competitors offer 3 to 6 years on warranty. The staff is helpful and was able to quickly tell us where to find the camera filters for Nikon camera. I drove the 4.5 miles to Best Buy only to be diverted away from the main entrance to a secondary entrance. Finally inside the parking lot there was an employee standing outside the entrance to the store waving his arms and motioning for me to stop near him. The employee asked if I had an appointment. Best Buy is one of those places that I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with. I tend to be a bit of a snob when it comes to my electronics - and with any major purchase, a lot of research has been done before I even set foot in any store. I know what I want and need in terms of features and performance, I know which brand name I want to see on it to make sure it's the best quality and most reliable item I can get for my money. As a result - I don't really need the kind of in-store "help" they offer, in fact it just bugs me if I'm asked too many times. However, in this case, they just happened to be the one place that had the EXACT model of TV I wanted, so they got the sale along with some other items. They were fast with getting items from the warehouse, and assisted with loading things into our vehicle - which I am always thankful for with large items. This isn't one of the bigger stores in the valley, it's very much the luck of the draw if they even have what I'm looking for, but it's a convenient location for me. I've had good experiences at Best Buy, I've had some bad ones. This time was a good one, I think mainly they could tell I knew what I was looking for, know what I'm talking about, and that trying to sell me on all the usual "extras" you get in these places would be an effort in futility! read more

I'm slowly having to change my view from "not a best buy" to "decent buy". It's still not Best Buy. That said, on recent trips the service is getting better. I like they don't work on commission. It changes the customer dynamic in a good way. When I've needed help the people have been competent and helpful. Today I was looking for a 4K monitor and the price here was within $20 of online. That's great, and I like both the instant gratification of looking at it, then taking it home. The place is growing on me. They also have a great web site. This location has terrible service. The employees, especially the young man named JD, have absolutely no idea in regards to customer service. I went to the store today to buy a Nintendo switch, and he continued to tell me white did not exist when the Nintendo website clearly showed a white version. If Best Buy did not sell the white OLED version I completely understand, but he continued to tell me it was fake. Then at the counter when I was ringing up an online order for a different color, I was talking about the white one with my partner and he completely lost his temper and yelled at us. He stormed off like a 5 year old kid. It is astonishing our immature employees at a tech store can act. I have not seen such terrible customer service in so long! Fortunately a more mature employee was able to help us out and actually apologized for how poor JD's service was. This store was nothing but a hassle and the fact the manager would hire someone as low as JD says a lot. I needed the MagSafe battery pack, I checked online & it said there was 3 in stock so I went in and looked around where the apple accessories are and I couldn't find it, I went to the front where the cases and some chargers are and I couldn't find anything. I asked for help and they told me it would be in those spots after asking for help a second time the guy told me that no one would know where they would be placed... I kept looking but couldn't find anything, I was then told that I needed to go to the park city store or American fork because online it said they had some in stock... I paused and said well it says there's 3 in stock here why would I drive to another store if there's a possibility that there's none there either the two guys just stared at me and said ya idk. This is a very poorly managed Best Buy. I recommend going to a different one. The store was empty at 10:15AM. I asked for help, and then had to wait for 10 min while the person I asked went around doing inventory stuff or something with other employees. He literally went off doing things with other employees three times until finally some other employee came over and helped me. When they finally got around to helping me, every other store in the valley had the video adapters I was looking for except this one. I live in Taylorsville UT, not SF but it won't let me change it. This is the store at 2100 so and about 3rd west (won't let me change that either) I have a computer being repaired at best buy. It is such a joke, they just keep guessing at what's wrong because they have no testing parts for any computer that is not "currently" available on the floor. This means if it's not under its original warranty, or a software problem they can't fix it. They just have to guess while you keep buying part after part. The left me a message that I needed to call them back about my computer... Right, that is as far as I have found out so far impossible. When you finally get through voice mail hell and get transferred to someone who can actually answer. It just rings and rings (last time I counted the rings it was 42) then you are answered by a recording that asks for your access code (what the hell is your access code, (beats me)? Over the weekend I called over 50 times with the same result. So, I have to make an appointment (they don't see you for talking about your computer without an appointment). Then I go all the way there wait in line for my appointment for them to tell me they have to make another guess at what's wrong, this would have been a two-minute phone call. Then I go home and we do it all over again the next day. 1. You don't need geek squad for a new computer (It's under warranty stupid) if it's out of warranty and it's anything but a software problem they can't fix it anyway (if it won't boot up). 2. If they need to talk to you if you are not available the whole day right there by your phone you can't call back if they leave you a message. 3. Even those $49.00 + parts people have troubleshooting parts so they can actually tell you the issue. 4. Think twice about buying Geek Squad unless you have kids that are always screwing up the software. Former Computer Tech That just wanted someone with assets (parts) to work on their machine. I had already tested the hard drive, the power source etc. I could have kept "parts guessing on my own and saved all my money. PS: Buy the way I really needed it fixed over the two days they have had it I called over 100 times in about 4 different I'm not giving up sessions. (I figured eventually someone had to answer.) And had three appointments where I went into the store. I still don't have the computer. I told them next time if they had to leave a message to at least have the decency to say why they were calling and the issue, not just to call back a number that will never be answered anyway. PSS: I also forgot to mention I did finally get to talk to a manager (so he said) after considerable time on hold when I called the sales line (got an answer after about 20 min on hold) She said If I couldn't be nicer she would not transfer me (this was after I explained the problem several times) I told her after 50 phone calls they lost the privilege of me being nice. I was on hold so long I drove to the store after I could not stand being on hold any longer at home, and they answered when I was in the parking lot. After they kept insisting my call was about "my laptop", (It was a tower) I just said I'd come in. They did offer me money off the computer I just bought last Sunday for the inconvenience I had been suffering. I think they just wanted me to shut up because I was at the Geek Squad desk. But it was my time, I booked an appointment before I left so they couldn't tell me I needed an appointment to talk to them like last time. I'm also trying to call just the sales part of their number right now to ask to talk to a supervisor. So far I've been on hold for 20 Min and 8 sec.... I just don't call that good service. I am happy with my discount, however. It was about a days pay which is fair I've been on the phone (on hold) & travel time for appointments 12 hours so far if you added it all together. Now my wait time is 23 min and 17 secounds I only tell you this to let you know how long you are in for a wait if you want to call. read more

So I purchased a gaming headset with a microphone a couple weeks ago. Worked fine until about 2 days ago when the audio started to fade in and out. Took the headset back into Best Buy for a return. The employee I spoke with said that I would need the box and the original receipt in order to return it (TOTALLY UNDERSTANDABLE) Seeing as how I didn't have the receipt nor the packaging, the employee recommended that I buy a replacement set now and I can come back in later with the receipt and the packaging for the old headset and they would refund my money. Sounded good to me!! As it actually turned out, I went in there earlier today to get my refund and the employee who helped me THIS time said there could be no refund because my package was opened and I was 2 days outside of the return policy. I spoke with her, her supervisor, and even one of the store managers about my situation. None of them cared. They fed me the same BS about "their system won't let us." It's incredible what kind of nonsense employees like that expect me to buy into. Not one of the managers had the ability to refund my money that I was promised two days ago. Point taken. Best Buy hires incompetent people to fill incompetent positions. I bet that if I had spoken to the same chap that helped me 2 days ago, he would have found a way to fulfill our agreement. Thankfully, I have not opened my new Razer headset (which was considerably more expensive than the first headset I purchased) and will be returning it immediately. Went into the sandy location after not being able to find help in West Jordan. After a couple of minutes Shawn came over and asked if he could help. He provided the answers I needed about the Samsung TVs we were looking at. He then listened to our bad experience in West Jordan and immediately took us over to Lisa in appliances and there they went above and beyond the call of duty to help us out. Lisa worked it out so we could get the open box washer and dryer from the other store and get delivery the same day as our tv we were buying from the Sandy store. All of this was taking place 45 minutes after they closed. The store manager even brought us a bottle of water while we waited for everything to get worked out. I'm extremely impressed and my faith in Best Buy was restored thanks to Shawn and Lisa. I will definitely be back again. Thank you both. read more

So I am really tired of automated recordings for all your questions. Since COVID most companies have gone this way. The prob with automated is they usually answer a few basic questions. Do not help customers who actually need help beyond the recording! This especially affects older people, they have a very hard time navigating, and finding help from companies!So these companies have written off all their older customers... I am myself despise the automation. You go around and around you get frustrated with very little help. I feel all of these American companies, Best Buy included, have gone to call centers in Asia, Africa, and are all automated. One Company started it, the rest followed... Thinking that we are OK with what they're doing... They know what they are doing , making it easier for them and saving their company money. They are complicating it for their customers and American customers. They hope we will go away or that we can have our questions answered in automation! It's truly impossible to get through to the actual business. They have forgotten what customers need. What customer service is!!!! Again, they want our business, they want our money, they want to bombard our phones and TVs with their ads! But they do not want to help us otherwise. My favorite is when you do get through finally to a real person, but that person is in a different country, so very hard to understand. They have no idea what they're doing in most cases...this just happened. I waited 25 min, finally a person in Africa answered! Yes, they are employing everyone but Americans. Then I could barely hear/understand them. The phones were broken up....So that 25 minutes now will take another 25 minutes in hope that their phones will work! Also hoping I can understand what they're saying! Many speak broken English. That complicates it when you're trying to communicate. Still have my problem, caused by their merchandise not wrking! Not old merchandise either! Everything falls on the customers... These companies do not want to help us, they just want money and profit. I'm tired of it! So, no Americans except in the store, no customer service! But if we're lucky the merchandise will work correctly and we will not have to demand help from a person in another country! Overall, I had a good experience at this store. I went there on Thanksgiving evening and bought three large appliances. A couple days later, when I looked at the e-mail of my receipt, I realized that they charged me for the wrong refrigerator. It turned out that the sign was incorrect on the one I wanted. Thankfully, the store employees agreed to give me the price that I originally paid for the correct item that I wanted. It saved me $100 on top of the sale price for the Black Friday sale. It's rare to find customer service like that, where they are willing to lose money to help a customer after a mistake. Everyone was friendly and helpful there. I recommend this store! read more

I am a semi regular to this best buy location. Partly because its the nearest one. Every time I stopped by I am quickly greeted and asked if I needed any assistance in finding something. I personally like to just roam around on my own. They don't seem to mind at all. When I do have a question on a product or just a generalized question on the type of genre (such as TVs or Cameras in general), they are more then happy to answer them. What stood out is how knowledge this one employee was on cameras. Lets just say i'm no novice when it comes to cameras and electronics so when I started talking about certain lens and cameras to this young man, I was very impressed with his responses. I can't say that all the employees are as knowledgeable of their department but this guy sure was and I was impressed. I also shop a lot on their website. I really wish they could just straight forwardly tell me if certain items are actually in-stock at the location instead of whether or not I can have it shipped/picked up at the location. Spent $400 on a new receiver for my truck... took a month to get installed... had 3 different employees tell me the wrong line to wait in to check in for my appointment and then when I tell the 3rd cashier that it's not ok that people can't tell me the proper place to go while I wasted 30 minutes waiting in lines I didn't need to be in and he laughs, shrugs and walks away from me I finally get the receiver installed... get home and start testing a few things out and I find out the steering column control don't work for my radio anymore... I called and spoke to the guy who did my install and told him the controls on the steering column didn't work anymore and his exact words are 'no they won't work anymore... I guess I should have told you that huh'? Seriously?? That's your response? Now they want another $120 to install the adapter I need to get it to work. No way I'm returning this and literally never shopping at Best Buy again. Amazon is cheaper and a proper body shop will atleast give me all the costs up front and not run me around. Should have done that to start with. I used to only use Best Buy to look at items before I bought them elsewhere but started shopping there for all my tech gifts this year... but now I'm returning all my Best Buy purchases and just going back to what worked before. Horrible service Best Buy. I'll be in tomorrow afternoon to get this receiver taken out and to get a refund. Update: Received a call from the manager of geek squad telling me to bring my truck back and they would fix the issue. I purchased the 3 other adapters it told me to and would have purchased that one if anyone would have told me that. But for the manager to take that stance and immediately tell me it's my fault and then go on to tell me why in detail it wasn't geek squads fault is ridiculous. Then I told her I just wanted to have it removed(since they can't make it work) and get a refund... the manager then tells me she will have to charge me to get it removed and my old one put back in... after they screw up... and then can't fix it and make it work properly... the managers response my my telling her to return it is that she will have to charge me for it. i never write reviews but i left this location very upset/sad. the store wouldn't do anything to help me in regards to a return past their outrageous 15 day window. we purchased an over range microwave that due to backordered cabinets, we didn't take out of the box until well after the return window only to find it's too large for the space. brand new and unopened, they still would not even give me store credit for an item they currently still sell for the same price i paid. so now i'm stuck with a brand new $300 microwave that i cannot use. i understand they have a policy but i feel like occasionally an exception can be made since it's unopened and i was willing to just take store credit and continue to shop there. not to mention the manager was extremely unkind to me when i asked about this and i was very polite to him. will never give best buy my business again. read more

Not only did the employee at the front door give me fantastic directions to where the items I needed were, but unbeknownst to me he sent a message to Jake, and employee near where I was going and it streamlined everything! Jake showed me their options, and price-checked on his machine, with no prompting of mine, if there was another item cheaper that fit my needs. I went into this store fully intending to walk out with a new Windows tablet. It was 11:00 a.m. on a Monday morning. There were not a lot of people in the store. I couldn't get a store employee to even acknowledge my existence let alone ask if I needed help. I spent probably 15 minutes finding the tablets which they had moved from the front to the back of the store. I was disappointed to find that they had one display model out for the cheapest low-end model that they had, which wasn't what I was looking for. There were spaces for other tablets they just didn't have any other tablets on display. The rest I assume were locked away in the cabinet beneath meaning I couldn't even help myself. I really wanted to purchase a windows tablet from Best Buy today. Based on my experience I can only assume that Best Buy really didn't want me to purchase a windows tablet. You bet I will write a review good or bad. I do it on Google constantly but not here much. I have a hard inquiry on my credit report because I had an employee who was rather nice try to locate my card number to be used because I had not received it yet. The last time I had a credit card with them I spent over $4,000 in a very short time and paid it off and it sat dormant for a short time and then they canceled me. Instead of calling the Best Buy Credit card office as someone told me that they should have done, he pushed through another application after I asked him if he was placing a hard inquiry on my report and he said no. He thought he had a trick but instead it will cost me hours and I mean hours to fix with all of the credit bureaus, major frustration and of course a negative effect on my credit. I hope his boss disciplines him and he doesn't ever irritate another person with this nonsense. Best Buy is impossible to get results from when it comes to this sort of thing. Actually, they find a clever way to manipulate you into buying some extra protection plan or Geek Squad nonsense that I believe gets you tangled in a net underwater with frustration, anger, and an offshore customer service center which is plain garbage and nonsense. If you are unfortunate enough to patronize their business as I have,I would strongly suggest you just take the loss and go somewhere else because the misery you take on to get them to help you resolve anything besides pointing you to a restroom is ludicrous and unacceptable to me. I tried to do this another way and talk to a human being who could get results but the days of management calling you to correct and make things right does not exist much anymore and especially with best buy. I would give a 0 if I could. I bought a dishwasher Bosh and the geek squad warranty. After 6 months the dishwasher broke. They have sent the Scott Done 4 times. Every time he comes he looks at the washer and says "there is nothing wrong with it" takes 3 minutes at the most to make a diagnosis and leaves. No desire to fix the problem at all. Obviously quantity is more important than quality. And my problem is not their problem, even though I paid for their service. Pickup service is poor. Employees talking among themselves while I waited. OK - so it turns out a manager(Michelle) was talking to the employee(Alyssa) who eventually helped me but could not find my item that I had ordered online and been notified via email to pickup. After about 20 minutes another employee came over and told me see saw my item(a HDMI cable in the back and bought it out in seconds. No stars for any best buy in Utah. I've never seen a worse managed store in my life. No one will answer phones when you call, the shortest wait time I've had is 28 mins. When you go in the store all the employees that work there are just organizers or something because if you ask them they say that's someone else's department. I haven't met a single educated person there though they like to seem like they know what they're talking about and talk to you like you're the idiot. What I've found works best is when an employee tries to pass you off to someone else, you look them in the eye and tell them they aren't leaving until you're finished and make the employee follow you around the store. If you're going to shop here, Stop! Grab your computer, go to Amazon and buy it from there. If you need something installed find another installer, if they're more expensive it's because they do a better job and you'll have to deal with their customer service rather than bestbuy's which means you'll actually be taken care of. Don't forget to haggle prices with other installers if you need something done. It's very easy to do, swallow your pride and tell them that's too expensive can I get a discount? 100% of the time it works I promise! SANDY, UT: Best buy is one of my favorite places to go: they are clean and well laid out, they have a ton of gadgetry and all the new electronic wonders in abundance. They usually have a few helpful associates working there. Although the selection is worse than at Fry's, Best Buy is way easier to deal with than Fry's, who has a nasty warehouse layout and Too Big To Fail service, which is invariably lousy. To whom it may concern, I want everyone to know that I went to Best Buy to buy my first computer. I would tell you the experience was very good while trying to decide the best laptop computer for me and the things that I wanted to do. I left there feeling very happy about the whole purchase. Three months later I feel like it was the worst decision of my life. My computer has had viruses even though I bought the top of line protection, and I do not look at porn. I can not open my pictures, and have had nothing but problems with my email. I purchased a geek squad full protection, and have taken it in three times for them to fix different issues and every time they could not help me. They want to wipe my computer clean and start over that is there answer to everything. Well I do not want to do that I do not need to and if they are going to do that then I just want to change computers, but know they will not do that either.
