I felt well taken care of. I asked the guy in the paint station for advice. he gladly gave me his time and expertise. I asked 3 other guys where stuff was. One called Jerry to help me cut my wood. I love Home Depot and have been to locations all over the State. The location in Sandy, Utah is amazing. I once had a worker randomly stop to give my fussy children a sucker and it changed my whole day. I found that a dishwasher I bought online just one week ago was reduced in price 15% in store today. I was told by the rude customer service counter associate that I had to take the issue to the online Home Depot site. Online, they said that I had to talk to the store. They would not discount the price since it was a regional pricing issue. BS! Only one of four store associates was actually helpful. The woman at the customer service counter was rude. A guy in appliances was a bit busy, but acted like he knew nothing even though I saw him help a woman with refrigerators in the department. The appliance associate was busy. One associate did ask if I needed assistance, but was not knowledgeable about appliance purchase issues. Needless to say, we will not be buying any more appliances from them. read more

I have shopped at this store for years, always treated respectfully; until today! In the parking lot I noticed a blue 4X4 with two dogs in the truck. The dogs were barking and clearly in distress! My vehicle showed temp at 78 degrees, although the truck had all four windows open a 1/4 inch; clearly would anyone want to be in that vehicle? I went to customer service spoke with Tanya with a simple request to announce on HD system to remind this owner about his dogs! I completed my shopping and did not hear a reminder, so as I approached customer service to inquire Tanya had Owen by her (including an additional young man), laughing the young man Owen seemed to act large and in charge (extremely dismissive, disrespectful and not a nice young man) toward me. SHAME on you Home Depot you market a dog friendly store yet when there are animals is distress the ppl you hire are disrespectful, dismissive and plainly DO NOT care about cruelty to animals! Not impressed every time we come in but out of geographic convenience we keep stopping in. It's always a circus in here and never enough people for assistance. Hopefully they get it together one day but I suppose how busy it is in here they won't smooth it out. When i walked outside, I saw 5 carts not where they're supposed to be waiting to hit a car. while it should be on the person to take them back, but they didn't. so it's home depot's responsibility after that and they seem to not care. read more

Mounting a tv for the first time, I went to an associate to help ensure I got the right tools. Lady clearly didn't have the expertise I was looking for and just fetched me some 3 inch drywall screws. Not feeling fully taken care of, I went up to Tim, told him the situation, we agreed that the lady who initially helped me didn't know what she was doing and then Tim proceeded to help put me on the right track. He then walked with me to the register and blessed me with a random act of kindness because to him I'm "a good guy". It made my day. The 5 stars are solely for Tim. I'm 88 years old and went in the garden entrance. I have such difficulty walking so I asked the Cashier if someone could bring me a Silver Bullett hose because I couldn't walk any further. He quickly said "No--sorry". There was a young man putting out plants close to the Register. I asked him and he said he did not work for HD--he worked for the plant company. BUT, he quickly said he would help me. I waited at the Register and he went and got it for me. It's not fun to be old and have to ask for help. Grateful for the young man who helped me. I rented a Penske moving truck for my cross country move. Reservation was very fast & easy. I initially received a couple phone call confirmations followed by an automated confirmation system. Pick up day: our truck was to be available for pick up at the local Home Depot at 8am. We arrived a little later- 9ish. The Home Depot employees at the Penske informed us that our truck was not there & were not in a hurry to remedy the situation. They called Penske & said we can have a truck brought here for you... and then said it could be 30 min-1 hr, but they didn't know. They did call us upon arrival, but the hand truck (which we included in reservation) was not there. They then told us that this is an issue they've been having & that they "just don't have any available." Ray & Jim at Home Depot we're by far the most helpful, but we have to call back & forth between Home Depot & Penske to get it sorted. We ended up being without the Hand truck the entire first day. After calling & complaining again to Penske-- they assured me a hand truck would be delivered for us to pick up from home depot within the hour. By the time we arrived at the store, it had been given away to another customer. Finally, Ray was kind enough to let us rent / borrow one for a few hours. The whole ordeal was so frustrating, on top on the usual stress of moving. Honestly, will likely never rent with Penske again. read more

Employees are miserable and unpleasant to customers. I have been to numerous Home Depots and this is the worst as far as employees. I greeted the man in the paint selection as he looked at me and he didn't say a word. I said hi again and nothing. I finally walked down the isle and saw another employee and as I went to ask her something, she looked at the ground and tired away. Finally the cashier was equally as unfriendly. Same issue at this Home Depot. Actually Home Depot is one of my favorite home stores. Recently purchased a vanity, faucets, etc to do our bath remodel. Almost done, just need 4.5" tall by 12ft piece of baseboard, and Home Depot has it. But only for contractors! All bundled up on a main aisle is where I found it. What a tease. What's the problem with selling a 12 ft piece to a home owner? I'm not a contractor, and don't expect to get contractor discounts, I'll pay full price for one piece but not for huge bundle. read more

Buckets. Staples. A toilet plunger. These are a few of the items that I've found myself in need of when nearby, and dropped in to buy at this Home Depot. For me, that's the real story: convenience. I'm not often in this neighborhood, so it's usually when I'm coming up State Street or somewhere else nearby that I add the ol' orange shop to my list of stops. Not that it's only good for that. No, I'd say it's about as much like any other Home Depot as you might imagine. I found the folks here to be a little more available and a little more friendly than other places--twice I asked them where something was and they walked me right to it and pointed it out. But don't you dare go on a Saturday -- all bets are off. There's a ton of parking here. For some reason I always use the restroom at this one, and there's an awkardly placed/number of sinks and I always think to myself how tidy the tile is. I mean, it's a home store with a massive tile section. It BETTER be tidy and well-built. Grabbed the buckets and got out. Electrical, plumbing, lumber, hardware, tools... it's all there, too. read more

I have to admit - I do enjoy a good project! If I can improve or fix something, or just gratify my need to play with power tools, well I'm all over it. To truly prove my desire for this, about 5 years ago, my wife and I decided to move to Riverton, into a brand new luxury home built by one of the fine builders who have managed to take over any fields that actually might be left in this once rural hamlet - and to ensure we can fix the many issues that come with this decision, made sure we were equally positioned between a Home Depot, a Lowe's and incidentally, for safety near a brand new Hospital! So with all this in mind, I have no doubt that the 3 people who actually read my reviews may have seen the ones for the aforementioned hardware stores directly in my area. Now, if any of you are still left thus far, especially getting past that excruciating opening paragraph....well I'll indulge further.... This particular project came not so much out of a hankering for me to have some hugely fun project, but mostly due to the fact that we have cats that have worked out that the plants in my study make a particularly fine salad bar, and despite my many efforts to prevent this, I eventually conclude that placing them at altitude and away from climbable furniture might help with this situation :) So I go to my local Home Depot inquiring about the possibilities of them having some corner shelves in stock, and the conversation went a (little) along these lines: Me: "Do you have any corner shelves in stock?". Employee: "Well sort of, but they're not really corner shelves, just pieces of wood we've cut down to be square and, well, attached them in the corner of a display you'll find on aisle......." Me: "Well that's great, but not really what I'm looking for. I'd like something a little more aesthetically pleasing, plus you're assuming that anything square will fit in the corners of my home since it was built by one of the fine builders who have managed to take over any fields (you can see paragraph 1 for the rest of this)...and besides, I have the prerequisite power tools needed to cut a piece of wood at a 93 degree angle that will fit in this particular corner. Employee: "Well they do have some nicer looking ones at the Sandy store." I can vouch for the fact they did. Not only that, they actually have sufficient "give" in the mountings that you can fit them into slightly imperfect corners. It's that kind of thing that keeps me enthusiastic about being an engineer. No matter how badly someone can build something, someone else can import something with sufficiently bad tolerances you can make it work and it still looks great, that takes skill. Oh - and yeah, this is meant to be a review of home depot wasn't it? Sorry, I got a little off course there. It happens when I dwell on 93 degree corners. You know, I generally find Home Depot to be consistent. They have pretty good customer service, and while maybe not quite the knowledge of another certain chain, will indulge you in conversations about wonky drywall etc. which is certainly therapeutic. Also, where else can you walk in, be greeted by 6 people, handed 3 books on various sales, asked by 15 people what you are looking for as you wander the aisles, and then get the speed of self checkout since there's no employees left to man the registers. All I have to say is these poor employees! This home depot is an absolute joke. Most of the management does not have anything together, especially Hishem. Considering he is a store manager I reckon he needs to be kinder too his employees. Let me tell you that Home Depot or at least their insurance company (Sedgwick) does not give a crap about their customers or their property. My car was struck with one of their carts doing substantial damage because the parking lot at this location is sloped so it must have gained quite a bit of momentum. After going back and forth with their insurance company for over 2 weeks now they are telling me that they are not responsible. They wouldn't even pull the surveillance footage and said that if a customer doesn't return their cart and it gets blown down the hill into someone's car that they are not liable!? The manager mentioned this had happened before and yet there are no cart stops or any kind of preventative measures to prevent this from happening to others. Now I not only have to pay the $500 deductible myself but will also have to go through the hassle of taking them to small claims court to recoup that cost. Just keep that in mind when you park your car at this Home Depot or any of them for that matter as your property will not be protected. read more

Purchased a lot of items from Home Depot in Sandy this week since we just bought a new house. Had $13 worth of items that I needed to exchange. I brought the receipt and the items into the store and they denied the return because I didn't have the same debt card with me I used during purchase. Rude customer service person. Bad service. Bad policy since I had the proof of purchase and was within just a few days of original purchase. My delivery was incorrect and missing some items. I called the store and they said I had to come in to pick up the missing items and exchange the items that was delivered incorrectly. So what is the point of delivery if they can't get the order correct and I have to come into the store. I asked for a refund for the missing items and delivery fee, but no! So do I take and hour to go to the store or just eat the $40. Looks like I eating the $40. read more

I have been researching dishwashers and had settled on the one. I went to Home Depot to purchase. When I got there I saw many employees throughout the store so I thought that this would be a quick trip. After wandering around the appliance department for ten minutes with no help I went and found an employee. They called for help over the intercom. I then waited another ten minutes before speaking with 2 other employees. I was told that there was only one employee in the entire store that could help me and they were cutting blinds! Now this was not a situation where they were short staffed they had many employees there. This was a situation where only one person in the entire store was trained to do the job. Home Depot offers some really great financing options for purchases over a certain amount. This morning we decided to visit the closest location and sadly we were met with some pretty horrible customer service. Upon arrival to the appliance section we were met by a man--whom I found out was named Mike. Mike did begin assisting us, however in the middle of answering questions he left us to help someone who had come up asking questions about cabinets. We waited about 10 minutes, with no communication from Mike, found another service person who said they would call someone, no one came, and then we see Mike. He was on a forklift and we asked if he was going to be held up he said, with his arms up and shoulders shrugged: for 8-10 minutes...NOT IM SORRY FOR KEEPING YOU WAITING.... So, I found Tim, the store manager (after following an associate all over the store tracking him down).... I kindly let him know my intent this morning was to make a purchase for an LG fridge however because the customer service was so poor I would risk a competitors price being a little higher, no special financing, just so I could get some decent customer service. His smug response, in front of people, was, sorry, is there anything we can do to make it up to you. YEP, there sure is: So other potential customers do not experience such poor customer service perhaps a refresher course on communicating to your buyers how long you will be might after you began assisting them and rudely left in the middle of your spill might be good. This is SPECIFIC to the location I am writing about. Boo on you!! Lucky Lowes now gets our business and has offered special financing. WOOT. read more

I've been going to this location for years. The service has been at an acceptable level. Most of the time I don't have problems finding someone to assist me if I have problems. I decided to build a fence around my yard this summer. After work I went to Home Depot to talk to somebody about fencing. I was told by the lady at the check station that I needed to go talk to someone in "Professional Services". So I went to the Professional Services desk and waited for about 5 minutes when an employee came up to me and rudely explained to me that professional services is not available after 6:00 PM So I would have to come back tomorrow during regular business hours.... As if I was already supposed to know this. I explained that I needed to purchase some fence, again he rudely told me to come back tomorrow. So apparently you cannot purchase fence from Home Depot after 6:00 PM. At this point this employees smug "matter of fact" attitude had started to really annoy me, so in frustration I said "Well I guess Ill have go to Lowes to make my purchase". Normally you would think the employee would at least say "Sorry you feel that way." or Sorry we couldn't help you." But instead he said "Sounds good!" , then he walked off mumbling under his breath. I will still shop there, but all my big purchases will be done at another store. read more

I have always had the best luck at Home Depot but this latest experience tops them all. We bought two gallons of the top quality paint bc someone there recommended it for our bathroom and cabinet remodel. It was great for the walls but HORRIBLE for the cabinets. The paint pulled off right after we put it on. Took it back in and explained and Jim in the paint department took SUCH GOOD CARE OF ME! He was so kind and so helpful told me exactly how to fix the problem and recommended a different paint and found me a fine sanding block. Went above and beyond to make me happy. read more

I must say that I have never been disappointed from a visit to the Home Depot as every time I visit the store I almost always find the product I have been looking for. I have never been disappointed with heir products in terms of pricing, options available and the end product quality and reliability. Their customer service and return policy are good and solid as well as I have always had the easiest of experiences while buying, asking queries about a product or while returning a product as their customer service is always consistent, helpful, insightful no matter what the issue is. Their employees are also very knowledgable about their products which helps when one is spoilt for choices. I actually once went here expecting to get a recommendation on a riding mower and naturally my expectation was that the sales people here would convince me to buy one and hence went prepared as one would when they go car shopping but to my surprise the employee I interacted with actually talked me out of buying one making sound recommendations based on my needs, usage etc without being pushy at the same time and I thought " Wow that is indeed a genuine recommendation" because they could just as easily talked me into buying one as it is at end of the day revenue for them. I would definitely recommend this Home Depot for anyone wanting recommendations on products, Good quality products with good customer service and hence the 4 stars. read more

Walked into store to talk to a Home Depot employee to schedule a fence repair with their contractors, two weeks later I called Home Depot for an update. I Left several messages with a company called Haven Yards. I called Home Depot Again and they said if no one called me back its because I do not live in a Home Depot fence repair service area.. Finally the owner of Haven Yards called me back and apologized and blamed family problems. Two more weeks pass and Haven Yards shows up , a gentleman without any papers or clip board showed up and have us a verbal rough quote , telling me I can look at different products at a manufacture in Nephi Utah, website. He Don Barlow owner of Haven Yard fencing was not sure how long the tan fencing would take to order or if it was available from Home Depot now.. Don said he would contact me via email with a quote. I actually drive here from South Jordan and avoid other stores in route to this one. Stocking here is some of the best and the selection is the best. What really makes this store the best is the service. Rob and Matt are the two store manager that have helped me. Another store I had pre ordered a bunch of trees actually sold them out from underneath me twice. Then were rude about it when I was upset and asked them when their next shipment. I called Rob and he went the extra mile. Putting me in contact with their tree order guy. They section off my trees and made sure to water them. They even offered to deliver them to help me out! Every time I go in there i get asked if i need help there more often then any other Home Depot I go to! read more

Best Home Depot in Utah! Also one of if not the largest inventory in the area. This next section goes for every Home Depot I have ever visited in the last 2 decades: As a contractor it's not always in your best interest to ask for the help of store employees as they have spent less hours in the hardware stores than you if you work in the building and remodeling business. Most morning and daytime help may have some knowledge of the building world and can usually help you find a hard to locate item in the store. However, if you go afternoons into evening hours the employees change and the workers are just warm bodies with little to no experience and few have the ability to find specific items without needing to radio help from someone else. Cashiers in the evenings are usually less efficient as well. If you expect to find the exact same selection from store to store think again. This store beats out most in the area with volume but I have experienced other locations to have certain more specialty items based on region. I have ZERO faith in any Home Depot paint department for color matches. Don't do it unless it is their color and you bought it there first. They have exclusive rights with manufacturers to certain products and even if others look the same they aren't. The exclusivity goes for flooring too. They are the only ones who sell what they have so don't try to match yours to theirs unless you got it there first. They also have a few exclusive lines you won't find anywhere else. All in all, if you know what you need and you just want a location who has friendly pro desk help and great selection this store is for you! read more

I live close so I frequently visit this Home Depot. Every time I go I've found the crew to be helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. Yeah sometimes they are pretty busy so you may have to hunt down a guy or wait for a bit, but that's just the name of the game. I've only given out one other 1 star review. I reserve 1 star reviews for the absolute worse in customer service. This is definitely it. Approximately 2. 5 weeks ago I called the Sandy Home Depot. The first time, I was told to give my number and they would call back. No one ever called back. I called them back and was hung up on. I assumed this was an issue with that specific Home Depot, so I called the Draper Home Depot. I was again told to give my number, and they would call back. No one ever called, so my fiancé went in personally to order it. It was ordered to be shipped to the draper home depot. We heard nothing for a week. So, I then called the draper home depot. I was transferred back and forth between people several times, and was finally hung up on. I called back, and finally got someone. They told me they ordered the wrong size, and it hadn't even shipped yet. They did not think to notify us of this, of course. I clarify the size, and it gets ordered to be shipped to the draper store again. I call back later to re-verify the size. It was going to be the wrong size again! So, I re-clarify the size. It gets ordered. I call this Monday, August 15th, and ask for a status. They promise it will be here Wednesday August 17th. I take their word. I show up, and it is not there. To top if off, I get asked if I want to drive 20 miles to Salt Lake. Sure, If you're paying my gas! No, I ordered it to the Draper store for a reason. No measly discount was offered to compensate. I was then told it would be here Friday August 29th. I called to check on status, and was hung up on. I called back, and was told It is not here as of 3:35 PM MST. I have been civil the entire time, but am close to losing my civility. I will probably never return to another Home Depot. There is always Lowes. read more
