Wow loved the store. Had almost anything you could want for your animals. Loved the selection of clothing.

IFA has a good selection of yard care products and outdoor cooking supplies-every time I go in looking for something specific, they have what I need. It's a good thing I'm familiar with the layout of the store, though, because customer service is hit or miss. I had to track someone down to help me find the right product to help a dying tree and he seemed a little annoyed that I had questions. The cashiers are also a little on the lax side when it comes to customer service. I've never had any of them smile or attempt small talk conversation with me. However, most of the time my experience is pretty good. After all, this isn't a store that people come to browse and hang out in. It's a chore on the to-do list. I love a good trip to IFA. It's probably good that I don't live very close to any of the locations in the Salt Lake Valley, and very very good that I don't live near the American Fork location, which is my gold standard favorite. It's strange, then, that I had never been to the Riverton location before last weekend. I guess when I'm that far south I either keep going to AF or I go to the Draper spot. Having some time on my hands over the weekend, I decided to remedy my lack of visits and I popped in. I was after garden stuff (there are two seasons: gardening season, and garden planning season) and they had loads of seeds, though not the brand I was specifically looking for. They usually carry Mountain Valley seeds--a local supplier--but I didn't see their display there. I don't love Lake Valley seeds, which is their main supplier, but they do have 4 whole separate seed display racks, plus bulk seed, so I'm down. I was surprised at how much of this store is dedicated to clothing and western wear. Boots, hats, jeans, and all the things you need to cowboy up, and that seemed like a big chunk of the sales floor. I also kept my eyes open for chicks (the feathered kind) but we're obvs too early for that. They did have the bunnies though. I appreciate the entire aisle dedicated to your apiary needs (that's beekeeping, homies!) and will def at some point in my life take advantage. I grabbed a few seed packs, and will be back in a month or two (though probs to the AF location) for more garden stuff when the stock is a bit higher. read more

I visited this location for the first time this past Monday because I'd just been to the Draper store, they had a bunch of plants on sale, and I wanted to see if Riverton had anything good. Compared to the Draper location this store is new and huge, and they most certainly had a greater selection of plants and trees (along with garden goods in general: several brands of seeds, bulbs, seed potatoes, soils, fertilizers, pond supplies, etc). Besides that they also had lots of beekeeping, chicken, horse, and dog supplies, a greater variety of canning stuff, and a very large apparel and shoe section. I spent most of my time in the outdoor area, so I'm sure there are plenty of things I missed that they have housed indoors, but rest assured that if it's any sort of farm supply they've probably got it, and a lot of it. There were several employees on the floor available to answer questions, check out was quick, and the girl working the cash register was friendly enough. Even if you're a city or suburb dweller like me you'll find plenty of useful items here, and it's worth checking out (say, for basic pet supplies) because their prices are quite low. read more

Absolutely love this place - between the staff, the selection of feed and tack and outdoor items it just can't be beat.

Big fan of IFA in general, and this location might be the best. They go above and beyond and treat their customers like gold.

I love me some IFA Country Stores! I really like this location because it's a little more spacious and less chaotic than the one on 2100 south that is actually slightly closer to my house. I come here to buy my backyard chicken feed, but also to square over baby chicks and ducks and bunnies. And look at beekeeping suits wistfully. They have a great selection of animal feed, lawn care stuff, chemicals to kill weeds with. They've got some boots and other farm type clothes, and a toy aisle. They even have a small section of jams and jellies and pickled things like eggs. I usually buy a bale of straw for my chicken run at the other location and they give me a ticket and I can just drive up to the big warehouse and they will load it in my trunk for me. I'm not sure if they do this at the Riverton store. read more

I tend to inherently be a fan of places like this, just because they have two things that differentiate them from the big "chain" stores or honestly most nurseries around the valley.... 1. They sell the good stuff that is hard to get at most other places. 2. They actually know about what they are selling and can offer real advice, and seem happy to take the time to do it. This also leads me to believe two other things.... 1. Perhaps the process of me turning into a cantankerous old bastard at the ripe old age of 41 hasn't gone quite as far as I was thinking. My evidence is the fact IFA is getting a 5 star review, and I don't give those out on a whim! 2. I'd rather spend time in this store browsing and buying stuff than actually using it which means it's kind of fun to visit. This has nothing to do with age, more a general penchant I have for finding reasons to get out of doing yard work! Give me a store where you can also look at some baby chickens and I'm afraid fertilizing the lawn is straight out the window for a couple hours. Procrastination at its finest! Seriously, I find the selection and the service here to be really good. Check out can be a little chaotic if you go on a Saturday - the trick there is to go on weekday evenings. But let's face it, where isn't on a Saturday afternoon? read more

This store got a huge remodel last year, and now it's a full on retail expierence. They carry everything a home-farmer could need, plus a lot more. Great resource. read more

I love that they are always helpful to me here. I'm usually here to buy big bags of dog food and chicken feed and by myself. As a not very strong or large woman I appreciate them helping me get it on my cart and into my car. In the many years I've been going there I never had thought to tip these boys. But then realized maybe I should check, I called the store today, and they said it is part of their job that they are already paid well for it. I love that they have organic and soy free feed for my chickens! I wish they also had the same sort of food for my dog! read more

I had purchased a bag of #2 grass fertilizer seed 40# weed & feed 24 for $59.99 per the receipt, this last busy Saturday and didn't know that my husband had already purchased another. I went to return it today as they are across town, and they that told me I had returned the wrong item. I had the same item and receipt they sold me and turns out they charged me for the larger bag and gave me the fertilizer 20# for $29.99. Unfortunately I had no knowledge of this didn't check as they said they got it all when checking out. I've never had issues before, ever. The store clerk said that they get liars in all the time about these issues and refused to credit me the correct price they charged me at all. When asked to clarify she said it's my fault and I loose out as Im a liar and out to get money from the store only like all the others that come to the store. I was mad but only received credit for the small bag due to not knowing what to do. I am an honest person and don't appreciate being treated like a criminal when they charged the wrong item in the first place. So I loose out on $30.00. It may not seem like much but it is when I'm treated like this and don't have $30.00 to just throw away like nothing. You can say I will go back to shopping only at the Draper store where they care about their customers. Don't recommend the Riverton store ever after this! Especially after being told that most their customers are liars and out to rip them off. read more

I went here for some new boots, I was not impressed with the selection, the prices were spot on with the competition. The staff was not helpful, they were all just grouped up minding each others cell phones. Needless to say, I left without purchasing, which I did come to do. I got online and bought them since I couldnt get any help in store. read more

Needed to find some grass fertilizer. They were helpful. Nothing extra ordinary. Got better help at home depot.

The staff is great!! They are always very helpful, non-salesy and they know what they are talking about. Plus IFA's fertilizer is great! This is a good ol country store so if being outdoors in the yard is your sort of thing...this is the place to get your goods. read more

I really like the IFA stores in general and in particular the Riverton location. I stop in a couple times a month for chicken, goat and dog feed and regularly buy fertilizers and garden tools there. The staff is super nice and if they don't know something will find someone who does (rather than just making something up off the cuff). The pet section seems to be well stocked with a selection beyond the Salt Lake Store so I go a bit out of my way to hit Riverton instead. They also stock a wider variety of dog foods and treats than a lot of grocery stores which I appreciate. read more
