Came in this weekend to celebrate a bday. Had a table for4, keep in mind unless you 5 or more there are no reservations. We srrived at 5:15pm and we waited 5 mins for a table. As usual we brought 2 bottle of red and 1 of white wine. They were nice to chill the white wine for us. We ordered the fries calamari with the tomato sauce. I ordered from the special menu the stuffed pork chop on the bone, wow mind blowing. Mushroom, roasted potatoes, a big old chop stuffed with Mozzarella cheese in a tomato ragu. Totally delicious, and so big i think all we needed was a side of pasta to make it a winning dish. I end up ordering a full order of linguini in clam sauce aling with the chop and the wife and I ate like royalty!. The meal was excellent, the waiter was nice to bring us a bday platter with fresh stiffed mini cannoli !

The story of Italian cuisine in the US begins in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, during a significant wave of Italian immigration. In cities like New York, Boston, and Chicago, Italian neighborhoods flourished, and with them, so did Italian restaurants, bakeries, and grocery stores. These establishments became not just places to eat but centers of community life where traditions could be preserved and celebrated. Opened since 2008 and located off of Kinderkamack Road in Montvale, we have decided on dinner at Bellissimo because it combines a casual vibe with magnificent Italian cooking. They have a large following, where reservation is highly recommended and was easily made via their website. Upon arrival at a packed BYOB establishment, my partner, our friends, and I were greeted by the host, Bella, and got a table right away inside the larger dining room. The menu remains extensive, as well as the daily specials that are usually creative and unique enough to cover everyone's desire. As appetizers, we decided on Mozzarella En Carrozza and Calamari Fritti. For our meal, we opted for Veal Piccata, Stuffed Rigatoni, Eggplant Parmigiana, and one of tonight's specials consisting of shrimp, sausages, and pasta. All meals usually came with a house salad with balsamic vinegar, but our server, Gustavo, friendly and accommodating, hooked us up with a special salad to share. Complimentary bread started our meal. Each meal was expertly prepared using the fresh ingredients into a very generous portion and reasonably priced. The food remained consistently delicious. The ever-present owner, Arti, oversees the experience by ensuring a personal visit to each table where we made small talk. The staff is quick to refill your water or get anything anyone needs. Best Italian restaurant in the area, which we can continue to recommend.

The attention to the cuisine and to the patrons were equally impeccable, as was the veal francese, which my fellow diner who is a flavor chemist by day and never likes anything said was the best he ever had. Even the cheesecake and the after dinner cappuccino were delectable. This is also a BYO establishment, which definitely helps with the cost and allows you to focus on enjoying as many of the delicious items off of their menu as you can! I don't love the open-room cafeteria style seating in general, as it gets noisy and people who are hearing impaired (like my father in one ear) would have a hard time drowning out the general noise here. Outdoor seating on the patio during nice weather is a plus! The manager Artie, the brother of the owner, came over several times to check in about our experience. You could tell he really cares.

The cold appetizer special was surprisingly one of the best appetizers I ever tasted. The arugula filled plate was topped with multi colored sun dried tomatoes, cold meat and fresh mozzarella cheese. All of the chicken plates were outstanding, but my personal favorite chicken cuisine was the balsamico. The balsamic sauce blended perfectly with the poultry and vegetables. I specifically selected the lemoncello maccopone cake as this was my first time exploring this dessert. The puffy, creamy, lemony after meal was a satisfying treat. It wasn't overbearing in sweetness and flavor. Aside from the food, the service was top notch. The servers and bus boys always circulated the floor to make sure I was taken care of. They constantly kept my water glass filled and promptly removed any empty plates after each course to make room for new dishes! Alcohol is not served, but you can always BYOB. It was ok. We were at a party in a private room. The apps were good. The pasta was served before the salad. It took a while to get more bread and grated cheese. I shouldn't have had to ask for them! The salad was wilted! My fish was hot and delicious. My husband had the veal. It was just ok. Not a big portion. Coffee was served but there was no dessert. We thought that was odd but I think it was the people who planned the party and not the restaurant.

A delicious Italian restaurant! It's BYOB and there is a liquor / wine store next door. We came here for dinner and the food was good! They had a delicious burrata special, and the fried cheese was good too. The entree portions are large and filling. I ordered the chicken parm with vodka sauce instead of marinara. It was pretty good! Very large dish! If you're in the area definitely check them out.

This is a solid BYOB spot in Montvale! My friends& I like to go here before going out lol.. the food is good and the service is great. My recommendation is the calamari!! And ask for the spicy marinara dipping sauce.. so good

This is one of my favorite italian spots in the area. As a few other reviewers have mentioned, their Chicken Parm with vodka sauce is unmatched. The normal parm is good too but their vodka sauce just takes it to another level. Came here most recently with some friends and were not disappointed. Made a last minute reservation (we were a table of 6) on a Saturday night and they were able to seat us instantly. The bread is warm and fresh and the butter was room temperature which is a nice touch. Everyone at the table ordered the Chicken Parm with vodka sauce, and we all had leftovers. Good portion size and comes with a salad, which is always good. We also ordered the calamari app and stuffed artichokes, which were so cheesey and delicious! The place is a little loud when it gets crowded but I don't mind. BYO and you will never leave hungry.

Awesome experience! We were there for a surprise celebration for our son and his fiancée's engagement. There were 9 adults and 1 baby and they accommodated us so well. We were all so impressed with this restaurant from making the reservations, to the table setup when we arrived to the entire staff of servers who were so pleasant, helpful and attentive. They made the celebration even more special. Everything ran so smoothly. They even assisted us with letting us know when the guests of honor arrived and showed them to our table where we were all waiting to capture the surprise. The food was out of this world. Everyone commented that it was the best they have had. Thank you for making this surprise celebration perfect. read more

Came here for the first time recently for a family dinner and was not disappointed! My family can tend to be a bit opinionated when it comes to Italian food, but there wasn't a bit left on anyone's plate after this meal so needless to say it was delicious! We all opted for something different to try out the menu options. I ordered the pork cutlet Milanese, omg....delicious! Pork was super tender and cooked to perfection, topped with a crisp arugula salad. I probably could have eaten two, although the portion was large it was just that good! Other plates included the veal saltimboca, veal piccata, and a seafood pasta special. All were really fresh and as I mentioned, the plates left the table clean. We managed to save some room for dessert and ordered the creme brûlée cheesecake and tartufo. The cheesecake was delicious and had a different twist with the creme brûlée. As for covid policies, they are operating outside dining only. The have the whole patio available for tables as well as have extended into the a portion blocked off in the parking lot. We had a reservation so we sat quickly but there were quite a few people waiting upon departure so I recommend calling for a reservation. The employees were great and super attentive. The waiter checked in on us quite a few times as well as one of the managers and our water glasses were never empty. We brought our own bottle of wine, no corkage fee. Love it! Would definitely recommend to anyone that loves Italian food. Ideal for a family dinner or dinner date! read more

I've been dining here for years. They redid the Inside over a year ago and it's so much more "trendy Italian" if that makes sense. It really freshened the place up. Good lunch deals. Comes with soup, salad and an entree for just around $10. Of course an amazing warm bread as well. They are very accommodating when it comes to switching out sauces or making accommodations. Dinner always offers great specials in addition to their standard menu. Their mozzarella and prosciutto app is delicious. Tortellini alla Panna (meat tortellini with shallots, prosciutto and peas in a cream sauce) is something my friends from outside NJ crave and MUST have when they come to visit. Their fish is always fresh and that's what I tend to lean towards. Sometimes they tend to get extra busy which leaves the service a little eh but overall like I said i keep coming back. Great food and great location. A strip mall with ample parking. BYO and liquor store in same strip... perfecto. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. This place is low rent ... $10 for an empty cannoli shell. Embarrassing doesn't cover it by any means. Pros- Good location and really nice outdoor seating. Cons- show up at the restaurant when they open at 11:30, I was told by the waiter that he didn't know what the specials were yet and five minutes later I hear him reading them off to the table next to us. Every single dish that I tasted was lacking salt. Pasta is À la cart and doesn't come with entrées. And it's BYOB so if you want a glass of wine do you have to go to the wine store next-door and purchase a bottle and then bring it to the restaurant. read more

We just had an excellent group dinner for my cousins birthday at Bellissimo. Ken, our waiter and the rest of the staff were absolutely phenomenal and attentive. The food was excellent! We are a big Italian family and were very impressed. Everything was delicious. We also ended our meal with every dessert on the menu! We could not have had a better experience. I haven't reviewed this place since 2018 but figured it was time to do it again. This a great go-to for me and my girlfriends for a nice dinner out. Also a perfect date spot. BYO which is great. Just make sure to get your stuff beforehand because the liquor store next door is massively over priced. The service here is always top notch. All of the gentleman are friendly, courteous and helpful. The food is always consistently great! My go to is usually the Gnocchi Sorrentino with Vodka Sauce and it's so delicious. But last night I went with the Shrimp Francese. I almost cleaned my plate - which never happens. It was so perfect and tasty over the angel hair pasta. We also shared the creme brulee cheesecake which is to die for. Love this place!! Always great, always consistent! read more

Good Italian food! They get busy so be prepared to wait on the weekends. They only take reservations for larger parties. I stop here for their lunch specials! This place is great! BYOB and amazing food! The only negative is that they don't take reservations for less than 5 people which is a pain as they get pretty busy! Solid experience for Italian food, pretty attentive service, overall better than Momma's Kitchen. I've opted out of coming to this place a few times in the past because the parking lot is a bit of a pain and it can crowded. But if you come at an off hour it's fine. On weekends they only have a dinner menu. There are two parts to the restaurant and I prefer the smaller side because it's more intimate; the larger dining room has no partitions. They also have outdoor seating in summer. I had the special of spinach pasta with shitake mushrooms and beans and lobster tails and mussels ($34). The portion of seafood was good but I would say the beans feel a little of place. Other pasta, chicken, veal dishes will run you $16-28, so not a cheap place. The osso bucco also received rave reviews. I recommend and would return but didn't fall in love. read more

TWO STAR review. I really wanted to like Bellissimo but it fell flat. I even gave them 2 chances. The first was dine-in. I ordered the Cavatelli con Broccoli a/k/a broccoli pasta and I was underwhelmed to say the least. The pasta was overcooked and tasteless. I did not appreciate the mushy texture. And the broccoli wasn't much better. It was bland and I could taste that it was taken from the freezer. If I'm paying $19, I expect fresh broccoli. The small bits of sauteed garlic were the only edible thing on the dish. I couldn't bring myself to finish it. My hubby ordered the Fussilli Filetto Di Pomodoro and was less than enthused. We read great reviews and thought we maybe just ordered the wrong thing on the menu so we decided to give them another chance. This time we ordered from their lunch menu which comes with soup and salad. When we got home, we realized we weren't given any soup. My husband called the restaurant and their excuse was that soup is not given for take out orders. Where on the menu does it say that? We don't appreciate the bait and switch and would have been less upset if they had owned up to their mistake instead. I took off 1 star for shady business practices and false marketing. We ordered the shrimp scampi which came with exactly 3 measly shrimps. I'm not sure if anyone would be full from that. We also ordered the tilapia francese which was beyond sour possibly to mask the fishy smell? The clam linguine came with 2 clams. And there was only 1 salad dressing for 3 salads. How does that math work? Safe to say we will not be going back. P.S. I gave 2 stars, but my rating is hidden. read more

Ate here with my wife on a Sunday afternoon recently. We started with the fresh mozzarella and prosciutto appetizer which was wonderful. Next we enjoyed the nicely made house salads. As our main course my wife had the chicken parmigiana and I had the Zuppe Di Pesce. Both meals where nicely presented and tasted phenominal !! Note that this is a "bring your own" and have a nice bottle of vino with you. Staff was very courteous and we never felt rushed. read more

This was the best food we've had in years. We had a table of 6 and everyone was happy with everything. From the fresh bread, pasta fagioli, main courses to the desserts, we were all raving. I had chicken francese -- tender, juicy chicken in a fabulous sauce. Sea bass, and veal were also terrific. Service was just right -- we had to wait a tiny bit for the main courses but I'm sure that's because they were carefully prepared, including following some peculiar dietary restrictions. We went for the first time with friends today. I had the veal special. One of the best Italian dishes I have ever eaten. The sauce amazing. Everyone loved their meals, the service top notch, very clean. The owner came over to introduce himself, very friendly and worked as hard as his staff. I highly recommend this place. Tony Meto opened Bellissimo Ristorante on August 1st, 2008, with a passion for bringing authentic Italian cuisine to Montvale, NJ. The mozzarella cheese did not have a golden char. The cutlet was on the chewier side and something about the breading was off. However, the homemade sauce was the best part of the dish; it was thick and flavorful. Although I can't vouch for this CP, I was satisfied with their service and the other menu items I tried. They only offer a 24 oz ribeye, however, and since none of my peeps wanted ribeye (curses on them) I was up a creek. I don't like strip or filet. Didn't want pork. But I do LOVE a wedge salad, and few places have one. Steakhouses generally do. So I was quite happy to have one. Until I had it. They did not do it well. At all. First, the bacon... while it clearly began as a few lovely generous lardons, ended up four over cooked, hard as rocks bacon chunks. The chicken was dry and terribly overcooked. Hard on the edges. I would expect a steakhouse to get the grilled chicken breast correct. And the bacon is inexcusable. When the salad costs $30, you have to nail it. Could I have sent it back? I'm sure I could have. But looking at the neighbors' table, theirs looked the same so I figured what's the point. And I didn't want to be a Karen about a salad in a steakhouse. And I wasn't holding up my table's meal for a redo on a salad. At the end of the day, if you don't get something this simple correct, it is a fail. I'm sorry to say that. Truly. But it requires addressing. There are too many other options for good steak that do these non-steak elements right too.

Went to dinner at Bellissimo for the second time 2 nights ago and left aggravated. Our first dinner was OK, and our second visit started out nice good apps, my wife liked the veal I ordered the Zuppa Di Pesce and that's where the trouble started. I received the dish and all I could see was a mound of calamari. I began moving the calamari to the bowl provided for my shells so I could get to the other fish and pasta. To my surprise I filled the bowl and still had plenty of calamari left to eat. Considering this is the most expensive dish on the menu I expected more than 4 small mussels,4 clams,2 shrimps and over 3 cups of calamari. When the waiter returned to clear the table he asked me if I didn't like calamari I told him I liked it very much but I was disappointed that 90% of the dish was calamari the least expensive ingredient, he shrugged and walked away there was no comment or any attempt to make things right. We had our coffee and dessert paid the bill and said good bye to Belissimo, we will not return. It's funny when you think about it Bellissimo means Very Beautiful not that night. read more

My wife is having her baby shower at Bellissimo, so we decided to give it a test run last night. Everything was absolutely outstanding! Our server, Josue (Josh) was very friendly and attentive, and he made us feel at home. The food was delicious and although they were extremely busy, we didn't have any delay in getting our dinner. We ordered the Calamari, which was excellent...the sauce was delicious and tasted homemade. My wife is a big chicken francese fan, and she was very happy with her choice. The sauce was perfect and not too "lemony", and the chicken was mouthwatering. I ordered one of the specials, chicken rollatini with riccota and mozzarella cheese, topped with a demi glace red wine reduction sauce...It was out of this world amazing! Super good! Tony, one of the managers, was also very nice and friendly to us and other guests as well. First time there on Friday last week, last time too. This place is more Albanian than Italian! Not an Italian to be found anywhere in the restaurant. When we walked in and the little waiter that was sitting us was looking at me like I had 2 heads! I said to him, are you ok? He said I'm ok if your ok! This is instead of welcoming us to the restaurant and smiling. I knew right then we were in for a bad experience, I was right. The clams oreganata were right out of the fridge, flat as a pancake from being stacked on top of each other in the fridge. My wife tasted one and said these smell like a refrigerator! The Veal Verona was just terrible, tasted mostly corn starch in this dish!! My wife sent that dish right back to the kitchen. I will not go into how bad the rest was so i will leave it at that. Bellissimo Restaurant in Montvale, NJ offers an incredible ambiance at a very affordable price. The staff is attentive, engaging, well dressed, well groomed, and very charming. The owner Eddie is personable, insightful and gregarious. The restaurant itself is quaint and out of the way of the busy road most of all conveniently located next door to a wine & spirits shop. The food is out of this world. I ate lunch there twice and both times my experiences were incredibly pleasant. I felt catered to and pampered. When the bill came today, my 3 girlfriends and I indulged in fine dinning for only $41!. I recommend this restaurant to any and everyone from high powered lawyers to handymen. The prices are very affordable but the place looks, tastes, and feels phenomenal. read more

Went in the other day and had delicious food. However The owners brother was walking around like a chicken with his head cut off. He was taking on the hostess, server, busboys job and was overwhelmed whereas if he left everyone to do their own job, everything would've went smoothly. He asked us every 5 minutes how the same food was. It was very much. He was hovering over every single person at our table once the bill was put down. So he could take it right from us as soon as we signed. Felt very rushed and a little shady as we want the right amount of tip to go to our server and he wouldn't know with the brother taking the bill directly from us as soon as it was signed. In Bellissimo you served graciously in relaxed ambiance thanks to Arthuro the Manager and Tony the owner. They had a beautiful white roses arrangements with real eucalyptus compliment their decor. Belissimo offering a Italian menu of traditional dishes, crafted to work with the seasons, in classy and stylish setting. You bring your own botlle of wine and they have the Pellegrino for you. Bellissimo has become a go-to, neighborhood well known for their scrumptious food. Signature dishes include Cappellini Bellissimo (shrimp and arugula sauteed in a light tomato sauce) with the same fresh ingredients as the rest of their menus. I have never been disappointed at Bellissimo. I took a friend there today for her birthday. It is her favorite restaurant. It was a beautiful day, so we decided to eat alfresco. Artie, Anthony and our server Orlando treated us like family. We started with antipasto. We then ordered the lobster and shrimp ravioli and the sea bass. Everything was "molto bene"! My friend received an extra surprise with a special birthday cake and the staff sang Happy Birthday to her. I always recommend friends to go to Bellissimo because of the friendly service, the variety of different choices in their menu and an added treat it is BYOB. read more

Amazingly nice restaurant. Went last night (Saturday night) at 7:00 and there was a wait however it was the best time waiting I ever had. Only 15 minutes or less for us. Very nice hostess, Lindsey. Beautiful and accommodating initial face of the restaurant. We already were loving the place before we even had our food. She was telling us about parties held there and sold us. I'm already planning my upcoming 25th anniversary party there! Our server, Ernesto, was outstanding. Food was delicious. Do you want to be welcomed like family by Arty and Tony. Do you want better than a home coked Italian meal. Do you want to be attended to like a VIP and a member of the family. If so, have dinner at Bellissimo. The food is impeccable and very reasonable. Most customers bring fancy wines. We bring NASA approved rocket fuel vodka! Excellent!! Delicious food and great service!! From the minute you walk in, the Owner, Hostess and Staff make you feel so welcome like you are part of their family. I have been a few times and the specials are always delicious!! Everything is fresh and cooked to perfection. Gnocchi Sorrentino is one of my favorites!! The delicious olives and bread on the table is such a nice added bonus that not many restaurants offer. This is by far my favorite restaurant, excellent food and service combined is hard to come by and Bellissimo offers both and so much more!! Can't wait to go back!! read more

This is a great place for a Shower. I had my daughter's Bridal Shower at Bellissimo in April 2015 and it was exceptional from start to finish. Tony was pleasant to work with and very accommodating. The food was amazing and the staff was so helpful through out the whole day. The nice thing about having it at Bellissimo's is that it is a private party and there are no other customers in the Restaurant. I highly recommend Bellissimo's for a special occasion. You can't go wrong, nice atmosphere, great food and Tony and his staff are very professional, helpful and pleasant. Thanks!!!! read more

My husband and his classmates from the USMA class of 1974 celebrated their 45th reunion with a gathering of their I-1 Company in Thursday night October 24, 2019. What an incredible dining experience! Our server Ken was exceptional. We were made to feel welcomed and special. Not to mention the absolutely delicious and incredible food. Everyone on the waitstaff and management went out of their way to make this a special night for all of us. BELLISSIMO Me and my friend went there a few days ago, and we found out that they just opend on Aug 1st. It was BYOB and it was nice because there is a liquor store next door, i just walked over and bought a bottle of wine. We ordered an egg plant rollintini app. which was delicious. And we both had a tilapia special potatoe crusted in a fresh taragon mustard sauce which was amazing. and the prices were very reasonable. I will difinatly go back. I love there food and service. Bellissimo Restaurant has an elegant yet warm and friendly feel to it. It is a wonderful place for people to gather and feel they have treated themselves to a special meal. Our food was delicious as we ordered the homemade gnocchi with eggplant and fresh fish with Broccoli rabe and potatoes. Everyone greeted us with a smile. Our server, Josh, was very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. It was like we had known him for a long time. His service and personable manner made our lunch even better. Every year my girlfriends and i travel to Bellissimo for our birthday dinners and we are Never let down. Our server last night, Ken, was super friendly and provided the best service. He answered all of our questions, was very patient with us since we were taking so long to place our orders. We love going there and the place is packed every night they are open. There are always so many birthday parties happening there. The servers always treat us so well, we feel like we are the only ones there. We'll be back in Nov. :) read more

While in New Jersey after attending a family wedding, we had a hunger for some real Italian food. Bellissimo was in reach and open on a Sunday evening . The place was jumping! They made room for us in short order. We learned more about the BYO wine situation in NJ. There is a good wine a spirits shop two doors away with a good selection and prices. Our dinner was excellent. Service too was excellent with Ken as our server. Had we stayed in the area longer we would have been back. We need this place out in California. read more

We visited this restaurant this evening with our three children and our in-laws who have eaten there previously. We were greeted warmly and the staff was fantastic. The service was excellent. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our entrées (sea bass, ossobucco, veal saltimboca, chicken parmigian). We also had several appetizers that were very good. All of the food was very fresh and the portions were generous to say the least. We will definitely be back! Don't let the location fool you. The atmosphere was very nice. BYOB. read more

We went to Bellissimo tonight for my moms birthday. We had the BEST server- his name is Josh. Anyone and everyone should ask for him as a server when they visit here. He made HIMSELF a pistachio purée for my mom and added a beautiful chocolate syrup, "happy birthday" message for dessert. Josh really goes the extra mile for his customers and makes sure your meal and experience at Bellissimo is perfect. Amazing food, incredible service, and wonderful ambiance.
