    Zuppa Di Pesce

It's a quaint little restaurant in Closter NJ. A group of my girlfriends and I enjoyed our holiday dinner here last Friday night. The bread was nice and warm. The grilled calamari special appetizer was excellent. Most of us ordered either the branzino, zuppa de pesce, or chicken parmigiana. They were all great dishes. The servers were friendly. There isn't much of a late night crowd, our reservation was at 6:30 pm and we finished around 9 pm, and were next to the last table to finish the night there. The restaurant is BYOB, we had brought some excellent white and red wines and a bottle of port from Portugal to enjoy before calling it a night. We all had a lot of fun.

The service here is impeccable. The chef and owner is engaged in the experience of his customers. The food is outstanding. Locally sourced and freshly made to order, truly some of the best Italian food I have ever had. The endive salad was classic and simple with a vinaigrette and some local organic tomatoes. A spring salad was another treat. But my favorite was the lobster ravioli. It came with a white sauce and a dollop of the red marinara sauce in the middle so you can make your own cream sauce. It was decadent and delightful. You can't go wrong with anything you order here. Bathrooms are clean as well and a small parking lot for free parking. (I don't know if that's normal for the area but everywhere else I've been recently in NY and NJ is paid parking.) Go try it out!

Always a good experience at Buongiorno Gusto. The staff is accommodating, and the food always delicious. The decor is old-school Italian style. Portions are generous and reasonably priced. There's a parking lot and street parking, and don't forget that it's BYOB.

PROS: The staff is very friendly and the food is amazing! They have fresh food, priced well, and have a good variety. They seem to have a lot of regulars and they take reservations. CONS: There is hardly any parking on the street and the place is in desperate need of renovation OVERALL: I would highly recommend coming here again since the food and service are both really good

As soon as you walk in, you will notice the classy, chic décor of the dining area; it gives off old Hollywood vibes. The seating is tight and the restaurant is on the smaller side, so I recommend making a reservation as it can get busy. The hostesses and servers are friendly, attentive, and personable. I always end up having good conversations with my server haha. As soon as I sit down, I'm already in a good mood because their complimentary bread served with olive oil and butter is to die for! During all of my past visits, I've never been disappointed with a dish. They have specials so there's always something new to try on the menu. Just a heads up, they are BYOB! These are some of my personal favorites: -Chicken Francese ($23.95) - The chicken cutlet is so tender, and the chefs get the francese sauce just right. It's a perfect balance of white wine, lemon, butter, and egg. You have the option of adding one free side: (1) potatoes and vegetables OR (2) pasta (angel hair, penne, rigatoni). -Pasta Limon ($31.95) - HEAVENLY... This dish consists of angel hair pasta in a creamy sauce that's a combination of lemon, parmesan, and butter. It comes with chicken and shrimp. -Fig di Sicilia Pizza ($17.95) - This has always been my #1 favorite appetizer, but sometimes it tastes better than other days. When it's made to my liking, it's basically a thin flatbread topped with mozzarella, fig marmalade, prosciutto, and arugula. This appetizer is the reason why I started eating figs LOL -Cannoli - These are HUGE and their ricotta filling is absolutely delicious! I have to roll myself out the door after eating here! Good thing I work out.

Foremost, the restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere with lots of greenery and elegant lighting. Our waiter provided top tier service throughout the night. The appetizers we ordered were perfect shareable bites and so delicious. The homemade focaccia was light and crispy. Perfectly toasted! This comes at the start of your meal for all of the tables. I loved the fried calamari, burrata and prosciutto, and the pear salad. I was most intrigued with the mussel flatbread appetizer. It was topped with a light buttery sauce and garlic. Very good! The meatballs were also a standout for me. In addition to an amazing start to my meal, I loved the cocktail options. From various spritz choices to Negronis, you can tell the cocktail menu was carefully crafted. Verana is known for the best chicken parmigiana. Not only did this dish deliver, but the portion size was unreal. Some of my dining party finished it. However, I have amazing leftovers for today. You have an option to get a side of homemade pasta. I went with the spaghetti. All pasta dishes are made from scratch. Other honorable mentions include the pasta normica and bolognese. Moving on to the sweet dessert options! The cappuccino's had a nice and bold coffee flavor. The pistachio gelato and apple tart were music to my ears! So fresh and really hits any sweet tooth. The tiramisu had a nice pairing of coffee flavor and cinnamon. My first dining experience at Verana will definitely not be my last. I can't stop talking about all of the incredible dishes that my family and I tried. Thank you Verana for an incredible meal!

The Food & Atmosphere If you are looking for a good meal, the food here is delicious. However, if you are a purist seeking a truly authentic Italian culinary experience, this likely won't hit the mark for you. The menu leans more toward standard Italian-American fare rather than regional specialties. Additionally, the decor feels a bit tired and could definitely use a modern refresh to match the price point. Service & Logistics The highlight of the evening was easily the service. The wait staff is incredibly courteous, professional, and attentive. A special shout-out to Jimmy, who went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. Upon arrival at Osteria Crescendo to celebrate my milestone birthday as first-timers, my partner and I were greeted by the staff. The space was split in two: one side is a bar, and the other is its pristine dining room filled with details such as white marble tabletops and glasses reminiscent of Italian craftsmanship. We were led to a table by the window with a wide range of music playing, evoking a vibe that was posh and modern yet still had its callbacks to the old country. Their menu adopts a more traditional Italian approach with antipasti, primi, secondi, per la tavola ("for the table," for sharing), and dolci. Sampling cocktails and nibbling from their bar menu takes us back to Venice, which, inspired by the Italian tradition of cicchetti (snacks), offered small plates, such as fried calamari and house-cured salumi, meant to be enjoyed with a glass of wine or a cocktail. As an appetizer to share, we opted for the Burrata. For our main meal, we decided on the Lancaster Amish Chicken and Spinach Girelle. We even saved some room for dessert and got their Apple Pie Sundae with vanilla gelato accompanied by a lit candle. Complimentary bread with oil started our meal. The food was delicious, presented well, and generous portions from a well-thought-out menu with a complete balance of flavors. Not only were the noodles freshly made in-house, but they're also perfectly cooked, wonderfully firm to the bite. The entire staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive, especially our server Chanelle, who made the experience even better. We can recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable meal!

Loved the interior of the place, cozy setup, nice bar area and also closed outdoor seating area. We started with bunch of appetizers. The mussels were good, soaked in tasty marinara sauce, but the bread pieces were hard like rock. The grilled octopus was decent, but should been cooked further. Same with the calamari, the outer layer seemed undercooked, would have preferred it to be more crispy. For entree I had the mazon burger. It came with burrata cheese and roasted peppers, two ingredients that do not go well in a burger together, in my opinion. The patty was also extra large and lacked flavor. I was very disappointed. The staff were super nice. They constantly checked on us. Since we were the only ones in the restaurant, the dishes came out quickly. Though the vibe and the service was outstanding, I wasn't impressed with the food here.
