My first experience at Dimora Restaurant left a great impression on my family and I. We visited to celebrate a birthday. Our waiter was personable, funny, attentive, and knew the menu very well. Dined at Dimora in Norwood last night with my husband and 4 friends. The food was very, very good, but the service was terrible. We unfortunately were given a sarcastic waiter, who I can only characterize as a "wise guy". It began early, when I noticed that the wine glass that I was given had lip smudges on the rim. I told this to the waiter and he replied, "Hm, I don't see it". Then, instead of giving me a new glass, he wiped the rim with a napkin, and said,"here, is this better?" This was a bittersweet review. Overall I was extremely pleased with food, service and ambiance only to be blindsided by the bill. The restaurant is your typical Italian restaurant with price in the high teens to $30's. We were served a nice small welcome appetizer, very nice touch. We ordered fried calamari as an appetizer, very good. Our main course was the highly recommended chicken parm, it did not disappoint, thin, tender and crispy in a light vodka sauce. My wife ordered one of the specials Dover sole menuire. It was delicious! So overall we were very happy. Only to get the bill to see charge for the Dover Sole, granted there was no price on the menu and I should have asked but we were having lunch I assumed maybe $30-$35. Only to be totally blown away by a charge of $71!!!! Wow! Totally turned the experience upside down. Which is a shame. Food- very good, service -very good.... But buyer beware! read more

I went on a Saturday night with some girl friends. We made reservations a few weeks in advance. When we arrived, there was valet parking. The place was so busy! It is extremely loud inside which makes it difficult to hear if you have trouble hearing. The service was very good, but then at the end I don't know if they were giving us time to sit and not bother us but no one checked in with us after dessert to see if we wanted the check. We had to call the waiter over for it. To start they gave you some cheese and little things to munch on which was enjoyable. For apps, we split the crab meat (which didn't look good but tasted delicious) and eggplant rollienti which was good. For entrees, we all had pasta dishes which everyone enjoyed. This is my second time coming and enjoyed it just as much as the first time! Feels like a family restaurant and food is top notch. What we ordered: beef carpaccio over an arugula salad, eggplant rollatini, lamb entree and halibut special. It came with sundried tomatoes, capers, artichoke and cherry peppers in a cognac spicy sauce. Both entrees had a sign of greens that were sooooo good. Dessert: warm choc cake with choc sauce & van ice cream! Had lychee martini and decoy wine. Glad they have wine by the glass with familiar names! As soon as you walk through the front door, they've got stacks of high chairs and booster seats laying on the front porch garbage on the front porch not very appealing curbside There was still valentines balloons in the room up on the ceiling if somebody rents out the space they're paying a lot of money, clean it up The staff was beyond rude, pushing literally pushing people to get out of the way so they could put something down on the table. Went out tonight with my boyfriend for our one year anniversary and it couldn't have been more perfect. Walking in the atmosphere was inviting and the decor is beautiful. We were immediately greeted and sat down (good thing we were there before dinner rush, around 6:30). Our server was lovely, checking in on us and giving us good recommendations, btw this was our first time. A friend and I went here for dinner on a Friday night, we walked in and were immediately greeted with the smell of garlic, which is a major plus for me. The place had a lot of tables, and lightly lit for ambiance, which I appreciated, very romantic and cozy. Bread and a small charcuterie plate were brought to us, perfect portion and self-serve oil and balsamic for the bread, great! We got the Tuna Tartare appetizer, which was delicious and split the caesar salad, which was also very good. For dinner we split the the Pappardelle with mushrooms and Rigatoni Bolognese. We've gone to Dimora a few times for large family lunches, but this time was off. We went for a late lunch early dinner with a group of 19. One of the waiters was friendly and fun, but the other helping our table was rather rude and I'm not sure why. My husband and I got the hot antipasto to start and while it was delicious it was comically small. It came with 1 scallop, 1 shrimp and 4 baked clams. To feel whole on the actual dish I needed e make sure to use the bread they give at the table just to sponge up the juices. For the price I'm not sure what this was. For my entree I got the Veal San Remo and it was good the mushrooms were fresh on top which I loved and the escarole was cooked perfect. The veal itself was cooked perfect as well, but the sauce/gravy was very rich to the point where my tastebuds gave up and I couldn't eat anymore. My husband got the veal with the prosciutto and said it was insanely salty, while the potato that accompanied it needed salt. So there was some imbalance. Others at the table got calamari for starters and said it was rubbery, and I heard that the roast chicken I was told was dry. Rather disappointing for this place as we remember it being really good years ago. For the price of the dishes we'd rather go somewhere else. read more

We sat outside so I may need to adjust my rating after the next visit, but gave them the benefit since outdoors was very nice with well appointed tables and silverware. I always use chicken parmigiana as my comparison dish and they didn't disappoint whatsoever. A Huge piece of tender and juicy meat with mixed vegetables roasted in a light oil. Later that night my son very much enjoyed the half I couldn't finish. The service was superb, very polite with a perfect amount of attention since we were there to mostly talk business. I came here for NYE dinner with a group of friends. We were six in total. My first experience and it was a bit chaotic which I understand given the holiday. We did have a reservation for 7:45PM but weren't seated till 8:15PM. Not a big deal, but noted. We were sat upstairs which was great because it was a bit quieter. Some of us ordered drinks, I had an Aperol Spritz which was fine. Everyone was satisfied thus far. Apps arrived, I had the Clams Oreganata also fine. The main courses took really long to come out and our waiter was very kind and offered us drinks on the house. Three of us took him up on the offer. That was nice. At this point a DJ started playing downstairs and the music sounded great! We went downstairs to dance whilst we awaited our main course. A few dances later and our food had arrived. Yay! My discontent was with my main course. I'd ordered the Stuffed Jumbo Shrimp & Risotto. 3 stuffed shrimp come stuffed with crab meat and vegetables alongside risotto. The problem for me was- it wasn't risotto as I know it to be. Risotto is meant to be creamy and this was rice. I asked the waiter about it and he said "this is risotto." Oh my I replied - this is not the type of risotto I'm accustomed to. Ok, no problem- just wish I knew that. I would've ordered something else. This is rice. He went and got the manager on his own - I didn't ask him to. The manager comes over and asks what the problem is. I explain again that this isn't risotto to me. He says, yes it is- it says so on the bag. Proceeds to say, I swear on my children that's what the bag says. Anyway, the dish is really about the stuffed shrimp not the risotto. As he is saying this - he's so close to my face, he ends up spitting in my eye! He said oh I'm so sorry. Great, now I've completely lost my appetite. I end up not eating my food minus the first few bites I had and ended up giving the remaining shrimp to my friend. No one ate the rice. As you can see in my photo below, the rice is standing straight up. That would be difficult to do if it were a creamy risotto. I did not want my evening to be ruined because of the food & eye incident so I tried to brush it under the rug. After we paid, we went downstairs for some dancing. That was the best part of the night. Great DJ and patrons who really were delightful. Another note is- the bathrooms were pretty dirty. I understand on such a busy night how that's difficult to control. Still needs addressing. Dress was upscale (maybe for the night) everyone looked fabulous. Valet parking. Lovely coat check staff and overall staff were very nice and professional. Would I go back??? Maybe, but I know now to ask questions like "is your risotto creamy?" read more

This place was highly recommended to me by a few locals, so I knew I had to try it! It was extremely packed for Thursday night the ambience was very casual, but yet a lot of people. My friend and I start off with a lychee martini and a passion fruit margarita, wow both Asians were strong but tasty! Then we started with the burrata appetizer it came with a fig jam on a crostini and tiny tomatoes, so delicious. Next we had a shrimp and avocado salad, packed with flavor I highly recommend this if you like seafood. Then we had truffle pasta with mushrooms on top, what a nice touch so delicious. We then had chicken that was made up special for us it had a lot of sauce which was so amazing and light it also came with string beans and roasted potatoes. My family ate at Dimora over five years ago and really enjoyed it. We spent the next five plus years saying "we have to get back to Dimora". Tonight we got back and we're glad we did! We had reservations for 5 at 7 pm on a Saturday. The place was packed! Really good energy, the wait staff was flying. After a brief wait, we were seated in a pleasant dining room. It's a bit loud but everyone was having a good time. I selected the tuna tartare appetizer and branzino entree. The tuna tartare was delicious! Very fresh with great texture and subtle flavors. The branzino is a show stopper! Great portion of delicate filet of fish that they take off the bone for you. Great sauce and it comes with potatoes and some perfect escarole. My wife had a tasty salad followed by the organic roast chicken. Her chicken was prepared very well. My daughter enjoyed her spaghetti pomodoro and my parents were happy with their chicken parmesan and pappardale with mushrooms. For dessert we shared two really nice cannolis. First time visit. Loved the atmosphere, it was hopping on an early Thursday night, good sign. Drinks and appetizer went well. Also loved the complimentary cheese plate. My husband really enjoyed his chicken parmesan. I had the soft shell crab special, they were very plump, however they came fried, I believe they were described as sauteed maybe they weren't described but either way it was very disappointing to see such wonderful crabs served fried. The waiter was very unapologetic about it. He brought extra juice to pour on them, which did little to soften them up. The matradee was very busy visiting all the other tables and chatting away with everyone but never even bothered to come over to us new comers. I really love Dimora's Restaurant but after this last visit I'm starting to think they want more of a club like atmosphere. I literally couldn't hear a single word out of anyone sitting at my table that's how loud it was in the resturant and not even from music. Literally every table was screaming at their counterparts trying to communicate to one another. After trying to flag down the waiter I asked him if it was always like this and he confirmed unfortunately yes. They seemed very short staffed that night as well. We asked for a glass of wine and were served with a full bottle, one meal wasn't even put in with the order, it was just upsetting and we felt a bit rushed at times. What was sad is that we came out to eat to celebrate my late father in laws life being that Dimora's was one of his absolute favorite restaurants to visit with his wife. The food was great and that's what keeps us coming back but there has got to be something done about the noise. It's making it hard for the customers and staff to communicate and its hard to enjoy the company of one another if you can't even hear them. Maybe I didn't notice this last time we came in the summer when all the doors and windows were open and the sound could carry outside. Either way I hope something is done about the noise, the parking lot situations and hopefully add an additional bathroom because one ladies room is not enough for a whole restaurant. read more

Boom! We journeyed here (45 mins) as it was halfway for us and our Jersey guest. First time and surely not the last. Valet parking and you are in for "old school" Italian - the 11year old sister restaurant to Croton Falls' Primavera (and definitely the better half) - is classic in every way. Old woods, linens and a super well coordinated staff handling 235 reservations this Friday night. The cozy bar with about 10 seats and a corner TV are on your right as you enter, and you have a choice of upstairs dining or the main dining room to your left. We arrived early - 5:45 rezo - The vibe is upbeat, families everywhere and Gino (chef) saying hi to old friends and new customers like us. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable - and the rest of the staff made our dinner a blast! Lots of laughs, great service - from an always full water glass through our two bottles of decanted wine (corkage $20) and nailing our special twists on the menu offerings. The menu is full of classics and it all looks good, plus a double handful of appetizer and entree specials. The buffalo burrata was so fresh and flavorful and our meals - the "special" fettuccine with lobster and seafood in a light vodka sauce and skewers of grilled seafood - lobster tail, giant shrimp, sea bass, red peppers and onion - were perfect. How have I lived in Bergen county my whole life and never know about this incredible spot?! Attentive service, it's as if we'd been going there for years, very friendly even with masks being present you could feel their warmth & welcoming staff after a remarkably terrible year for the hospitality industry. Antipasto for the table was a nice welcoming touch with hot bread! The cocktails were sizable & made well. We had blue point oysters (shucked very well), the asparagus Dimora (for something so simple it is 100% a beautifully composed appetizer), and the fried calamari (tho no tentacles it was very tender, crisp and well seasoned). Entrees we had the seafood pasta with vodka sauce (pictured) which was incredible (tho I only got to take a few bites after all the yummy apps!) and the veal chop with vodka sauce and cheese.... Let me just say..it is 4 days later and I have told every single human I've spoken to about this veal chop which was the most tender, delicious thing I have probably eaten at an Italian restaurant. No shame, 2 of us ordered the veal and I happily had bites of both of them . We finished with some after dinner drinks (that espresso martini definitely had real espresso in it not just liquor because it was very well balanced not syrupy....though 2 so late might have been a bad choice!), and the strawberries with champagne zabaglione (heavenly, perfect for after a big meal!). We stopped at the bar area to say goodbye to friends & my left overs were placed on the bar & disappeared. I was so sad when I realized & my husband informed the staff they happily replaced it the next day which was far and away above and beyond any expectation we had. My fiance and I came here for Valentine's Day and we are extremely happy with the service! There was an insane amount of waiters, waitresses, and other staff that were so attentive; they really seemed like genuine people and I would absolutely come here again. The ambiance was absolutely beautiful. We ordered mozzarella carozza, calamari, dry aged rib eye steak, chicken francese, as well as asparagus, burnt broccoli and blanco mac and cheese. Small issue is that the aged rib eye steak had a lot of fat on it, but otherwise, it was incredibly tender and cooked to perfection. My other complaint was the blanco mac and cheese; while the noodles were cooked BEAUTIFULLY, the sauce was disappointing. It tasted like just melted butter; really no flavor whatsoever. Okay so, my fiancé and I have been to this restaurant about 3x all was well until I booked them for his birthday. Dinner was great atmosphere was great and then the unexpected happened. For dessert we ordered flambé I thought they were going to bring out their own little cake of whatever with a candle and sing happy birthday No! They placed a candle on my flambé and brought out a spark candle to sing along with it. I found this to be very rude disgusting even. Because a birthday is a very special ocasión and out of all the Restaurant we can go to; we come here and they serve us exactly what we ordered and obviously willingly paying for... with a candle.
