This place is an absolute joke. Came here once and I was threatened by a "bad regular" at the bar that Carmine the owner allowed because "he knows the guy to act crazy when he drinks a lot " . I get there and already there was a few local regulars which was cute. Susan started me off and the service was okay. She did her best though. I ordered tuna tartar than a salmon with spinach and crème brûlée corn. She forgot to put in and then I was told by the new shift bartender that they were out.. I winded up ordering Mash potato's that came out in under 5 mins. Super cold. Local people came in and had to move twice to accommodate the amount of guests they were bringing with them to the bar. Moved twice and winded up on the other side of the bar. So much so that the bartender comped all my drinks because clearly the service I was getting was horrendous. I'm on FaceTime with a friend and this alcoholic over hears my FaceTime and repeats what I said verbatim. He then calls me a nigger and repeatedly says "this is trumps world" Carmine is okay with that and just wants me out the bar. Fuck you carmine. You should've comped my entire meal. I went here as a recommendation from the chief of police . And I would never return Please don't come here They only support the locals and if you're white you're welcomed here. First off, really helpful for Joanmarie to run me through the options and provide help sorting out a reservation for the 16 of us during the holidays - we were able to do a la carte and get the room upstairs near the bathrooms, which also kept the noise from the live band downstairs from overwhelming our conversations, which was great as we had a lot to discuss as a group. A deposit required (only charged if you canceled last minute) was straightforward. The drinks were strong and the servers kept us going with water and wine, and the kids enjoyed having their part of the table set up for them to talk and eat at. Bread was refilled a couple times for them. Service was great, I don't remember her name but she was friendly throughout, patient with the kids and adults figuring out what we wanted, and details included helping pick the right gin for a drink, suggesting some great choices for appetizers and desserts that we would've missed otherwise. Appetizers: - We did a full eggplant parm, delicious appetizer shared across the table. I don't normally like eggplant parm (find it too soggy) but here it was done well. Cheese and sauce not overwhelming, pasta was ok in the red sauce. - Zuppa di Mussels was good in a red sauce and not too chewy, cooked properly. - Oysters Rockefeller were excellent; this was the best appetizer and was well balanced, not too salty and not fishy at all. Delicious choice. Twelve for the table was enough for the 10 adults to try (kids skipped). - Fried calamari - this I've had better, the calamari was a little tough and the outside the kids complained was not crispy and salty but more like a hard shell.. almost like too much baking powder? We couldn't tell exactly. The spicy sauce was good for adults, nice kick, although the kids preferred the sweet tomato sauce to dip with. - Caesar salad shared by the group was pretty standard. Dinner - - I shared a Shrimp Scampi, which the shrimp was good, not overcooked, but the lemon, butter, garlic oil and white wine lacked salt - probably good if you need to cut back on salt, but left us a bit lacking on flavor; I guess I'm used to a lot more garlic and butter flavor. - Grilled Skirt Steak - ok, I eat this a lot, and asked for it medium, it was actually closer to a rare in the middle. I know it's tough to cook, so I give a little leeway as a thin and relatively tough steak to deal with, but this was mostly charcoal grill flavor and not much else.. could be marinated more. - Asparagus and mashed potatoes were good as sides, though, kids like it Dessert: - The zeppole's were excellent treats for the table, thanks to our server for recommending as they were many pieces for the table to share! - Cannoli was rich, probably why they didn't get eaten as quickly - Pistachio gelato was excellent - Salted caramel gelato - not a fan personally but people who liked it enjoyed it - Tiramisu was in a small cup - I'm not a coffee guy, so passed on this, but everyone else who like coffee did like this, calling it flavorful and a good finish to a rich dinner Overall hit and miss on some of the food for my taste, oysters were the best dish of the night (lots of surprised people enjoying it, including folks that normally don't like oysters), and the eggplant parm would've made a great dinner, I think, if I had it all to do over again, I would've chosen that given it had a great flavor and balance. Note a 4% charge for processing on credit cards, and as a bigger party, had a gratuity included (not a surprise, this was discussed before so we were good with it). read more

I went with my cousin for dinner. When we opened the door we were a little taken. The layout was different. The first thing you see is this large bar which is impressive. There was an Italian singer that night playing all different types of genre so that was fun. The food was phenomenal. Every bite was full of flavor. The seared tuna was delicious. The seafood salad was refreshing. The skirt steak was perfect. The pork chop was very good as well. Now the crème brûlée cheesecake was heavenly. It was the best part of the night . The 2 drinks called Sex on the beach were made exactly the way it was suppose to be. The atmosphere was older but the food made up for it. Overall we left very happy with what we ate. I would definitely recommend Prime 259 if ever you're in the Rivers Edge, NJ area, and even if you're not ... it's worth the drive ! I reserved this restaurant for my husbands birthday. At first, they couldn't find my reservation. Then the owner tries to set up my reservation. We finally get reserved for 15 people. The day of the atmosphere was nice. But food, my husband's meal came out last. The service was fine. It wasn't until it was time to pay that the owner decided to ask "Why didn't I tip more?". Gratuity and Tip are two different things. I am unclear if it's because of the fact that we were the only black family in that establishment or the owner felt comfortable disre me in this way. I will never return here and I regret paying this amount of money for mediocre food and butchered happy birthday song. read more

Definitely an older ground of loud 65+ people, but the food and service is wonderful. Try being seated away from the bar where the older customers get too loud, and you'll have a wonderful time. The filet mignon and carbonara were really good, and they have a nice assortment of gelato though we were too full to try after dinner. I do recommend this restaurant. read more

Wow! Had such a great time here! Decided to stop in and have a drink and some appetizers after not being thrilled at another place and I'm so glad we did. What a nice spot so close to home! We were made to feel welcome as soon as we walked in when the owner (I think?) managed to find us another spot at the bar because initially we only saw one. Denise -the bartender, was very nice and so down to earth as was the gentleman who I think was the owner or manager. We both had margaritas and they were perfect. We enjoyed the wings- that sauce was something special, and the beet salad with the fried goat cheese was good. The corn crème brûlée was delicious and rivals one we enjoy at a top spot in NYC! There was live music and we even saw a couple having a good time dancing! All around a good local spot and we'll definitely return and try some other items on the menu! Great job! read more

She rushed us, spent lots of time speaking to every guest at the bar but ignored us, forgot my sisters water multiple times while making small talk with other guests and 30 min later still has not been bank to check on us. This is an absolute joke. Did I forget to mention we were the only people of color in the building? The door should probably say whites 50 and over only. What a shame. We have driven by this restaurant for a while and finally decided to stop in for a drink and a appetizer on Christmas Eve. We were greeted by friendly Jan who took us to our reserved high top, The menu had been changed to a special limited menu so we decided to have dinner. Had a lobster and burrata appetizer and then lobster ravioli and the salmon. Both were great. While we were eating a husband and wife combo came in and set up for the nightly entertainment. As they walked by us they stopped to introduce themselves and say Merry Christmas. They started playing a mix of Christmas Carols and popular music. Couples were dancing so we did too. Music was just right for a Friday night! The gin and tonic's were muddled with cucumber & made to perfection! We had a bunch of appetizers that were absolutely delicious! They made the charcuterie board special for me since I don't eat meat, it was incredible!! The chopped salad was fantastic and huge! The spicy shrimp with peppers was also phenomenal Our friends had the filet tips, and the stuffed peppers which they also enjoyed. Don't go here. In my opinion, this place is a clip joint. My wife and I ordered Penne Arrabiata with shrimp for $26. (See picture below.) Notice that the menu listed shrimp as an included *part* of the meal, not as an option that could be added for an additional charge. But when the bill came, they charged us $36 -- 10 dollars more than the menu price -- for each dish. The explanation? They claimed that shrimp was an option that we had selected at additional cost---even though the menu clearly listed it as part of the meal that we were getting for $26. When we showed the menu to the bartender (Susan) and manager, they actually tried to defend this practice before relenting and admitting that the menu is misleading and, supposedly, the product of a misprint. But of course, they refused to adjust the bill, and that suggests to me that it was no misprint and is probably part of their general business practice. read more

He said oh we sent you desert. I so oh no! If your to comp us desert, it should be of our choice not yours. So he said ok, I'll take 20% off your bill. So......walked in and it was definitely a scene, not sure what kind of scene, but a scene. The first thing you notice is the LOUD music in a very small area, did I mention it was LOUD? We were seated promptly for our reservation, but it was 20 minutes before anyone came over with water or bread. Finally the waiter came over, we had to yell our drink order to him because it was that LOUD. My wife and mother ordered the house Cabernet sand they were out of it so instead he brought out a bottle of Merlot without even asking if that's what they wanted. They did not so cocktails were ordered. The waiter was obnoxious from the get go and made a comment to my son about my wife, seriously??? Appetizers came out well, 3 out of 4 when asked where the 4th was....."I'm not the chef sir". Main courses came out while appetizers were still on the table. When we asked to speak to the manager l, the response, "he's too busy to come out, but he'd like to buy you a dessert". I'm not a dessert person, how about buying a round of drinks.
