Cousins Pizza 450 Livingston St. Norwood, NJ 07648 Caprese Slice Drunk Angry Nonna Slice I decided to stop by for a couple of specialty pizza slices. There was a large variety of slices offered. I only problem I had was choosing because I wanted to explore them all. Caprese Slice: This slice is smothered in pesto sauce and topped with feta and chunks of tomato. You will definitely need a fork and knife to finish this wedge. Drink Angry Nonna Slice: This slice is cooked in vodka sauce, topped with pepperoni cups, and drizzled in hot chili oil. While the other slices have an appearance identical to an isosceles triangle, the nonna looks like a scalene triangle. Regardless, it is the taste, not the shape, that matters. Both slices were a home run! They had excellent undercarriage and no flop, which is why they were very crispy. The ratio of sauce was proportioned perfectly and they were loaded with toppings. I was also pleased they each slice was served on a glass plate. The interior has a nice ambiance. A small casual style dining area is off to the left of the pizzeria. The main dining room is located on the right side, where customers can order three course dinners and bring their own bottle of alcohol. Owner Andrew made me feel right at home. I cannot say enough good things about this place. We visited family and ate at this establishment 3 different times over a holiday weekend. The food was everything you wanted from a neighborhood pizzeria. The pizza pies have great under carriage , excellent cheese quality and tasty sauce. The pasta dishes we tried were large portions, well cooked , tasty and prepared fresh. The cannoli were made on site and some of the best we ever had. I explored the menu with every repeat visit and was impressed with the quality, service and attention we received from Jeanine. Andrew and Andy. These restaurant operators took pride in their very clean, neighborhood pizza shop. I felt like I was at my great aunt (on my mother side) house with the decor and how they knew each customer's name and their usual order. This is my workplace's go-to pizza delivery place and it's about time I leave a review! First, their pizza is unassuming but I've come to appreciate how consistently they put out a good quality pizza with robust tomato sauce, good toppings, and close to perfect crust. I never eat all of the crust but it's thin enough and not too doughey like most pizzerias. Their salads and sandwiches are also pretty good. To add icing on the top, the staff is always super friendly on the phone and always gets my name wrong, "Chris?" Haha. It's a great neighborhood restaurant and we have been there many times. The food was very good. However on our last visit we had to wait over an hour for our order. We asked a few times about our order but did not receive an explanation. People came in after us, ordered, were served and left before we received our dinner. At the end we were told they did not have Angel Hair pasta. I guess they had to run to Shop Right for it. If that was the true problem they could have offered another pasta. Only giving this information so they know not to keep customers waiting without an explanation. We will certainly continue to be customers. read more

I feel like the rating for Cousins is surprisingly high at a current 3.5 stars. I've visited this location several times, mostly due to my coworkers wanting to go or having to order food for my previous job. While trying to order food the day before it was needed, I had received lectures about how they need a lot of notice, for four pies, mind you. They were always late with deliveries and it caused far too much stress. Being that they have such minimal options for me, I previously tried their salads, which were bland, boring, and blah. After giving up on them having even a decent plate of leaves, I offered to pick up a sandwich for my mother since it was the only place to stop on my way home. Wow worst place ever I tried to give them a second chance but apparently they make they own dressing that that's the way it comes so you just have to suck it up that's what I was told by I believe it was the owner or manager when I asked to change my Ceaser dressing since it taste like pure mustard and was gross. Also to top it off when I asked for the different dressing he literally was pissed and really wouldn't do it and I am Two blocks away it's frustrating that I just spent 20 dollars on a salad I can't eat because they won't change my salad dressing because it's too much for them I am literally pissed. I've wanted to review Cousins for over a year. I've found it easy to review places that I've been to once or twice but something about reviewing the place that feeds my family approximately 50 Friday's a year has left me looking for the right words to show my appreciation. I'm finally overcome my need to write a Pulitzer worthy review, so here goes. The staff is wonderful, whether they have a couple minutes to discuss family, books and sports or they're so busy they only have time for a quick hello, they are always pleasant. They also treat children very well, it shows that they enjoy feeding your family's children and watching them grow up from year to year. Another plus, they accommodate friends of ours that have food allergen issues. On to the food. Most weeks I choose a couple of their specialty slices, I'm especially happy with their vegetarian choices including the amazingly flavorful vegetable slice, the ziti slice, eggplant parm slice, white with broccoli or spinach etc. They eat like a meal but I still leave room for a nonna slice, a delicious triangle of tomato, cheese, and a pop of garlic. My wife enjoys their wide range of salad choices with grilled chicken or the occasional bbq chicken slice and the kids are crazy for the side of meatballs ($5 for two sizable meatballs in sauce, served with a small loaf of bread), the plain slices, and the garlic knots. I've also tried their cavatelli with broccoli rabe and sausage and found it to be a huge portion of perfection. When we've ordered for a slightly larger group it's hard to beat their nonna pie with broccoli rabe as a topping. Their calzones are huge and stand apart from the competition due to a herb topping that lends a fresh and new flavor. Lastly (at least until I remember what else I want to add), each Lent they bring out the most inventive slice of pizza I've ever had. The shrimp creole slice couples the decadence of Carnival on Fat Tuesday with the pious observance of abstaining from meat on a Lenten Friday. It's only available during Lent and features angel hair pasta, loads of shrimp, peppers and a creole sauce. It's worth the annual wait and I look forward to it coming back each year. Cousins is a great family restaurant that I'll be heading to for years to come. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE~ I was there yesterday with my son pepperoni slice and chicken parm slice was delicious, I personally like my crust a bit crunchy and it was just that. I also ordered linguini with white clam sauce that was amazing too. The food is good but the service is absolute trash. Somehow Cousins Pizza's workers know how to make a customer feel like shit every time they order through the phone. Absolutely ridiculous. Slightly condescending and very mocking and makes the customer feel as if they are in the wrong for calling to order from Cousins. Like sorry would you like me to order from Dominos down the street instead??????Multiple people I know have also experienced the same and I wish that Cousins would address this issue and do something about it instead of ignoring it. Not only does Cousins have excellent pizza, they have a great penne a la vodka. Really flavorful. The service is hit or miss, but this is a spacious restaurant and really casual. You can come with a group (my mom and cousins live nearby, so we came with 6 people last week). This place has been here for many years and I've been here too many times to count. Thought, what the heck, maybe they've gotten better over the years?Still bad and they still have that awfully rude bearded guy at the front counter who's terribly rude. Ordered a few slices and it was completely inedible. Picked it up and brought it back to them and they said nothing when I told that the pizza was absolutely stale. It had been sitting out there since morning prob and cold. I could've walked up the block to Dominoes and gotten better pizza. Left it on the table and they didn't even offer to give me a replacement or ask how they could fix the issue. Shame really. Customer service is what ruins this place, we ordered a few items off of the menu, had to keep calling over and over again to get a eta on the delivery. They will put you on a never ending hold, only to be accused by the people on the phone that other people in your household took the food but it wasn't paid for, my family and I had to cancel it. Stopped here on my way from Norwood to Edgewater. Being from NY, i'm a little more critical on pizza in other states. But this place was pretty good. Stopped in right before noon, greeted by the 2 men inside, who were very nice, and browsed the pizza's in the window. Most of the pies looked good, and between the two of us, we selected the veggie slice, bbq chicken, and chicken parm. The crust isn't too thick, which i'm not a fan of, but it's thick enough to hold it's contents, partly in help by the doneness to the crust, but not overdone. The chicken parm slice was a little underhwelming, as was the bbq chicken, each for their own reason. The chicken parm slice was missing a little sauce, and the bbq chicken slice was missing copious amounts of chicken. The veggie slice though was delicious. read more

A friend of mine told me they had good broccoli rabe there. She was right!! I always get broccoli rabe with penne pasta, mixed with hot and mild sausages--see pic. Ive eaten from there numerous times, and the portions are always large,fresh and delicious. I'm so hooked on that particular dish, I haven't had anything else. Maybe one day. Mushy pasta. Spongy shrimp. No taste. I was at the Shop Rite down the street and decided that instead of cooking I would order takeout from Cousins. I had a salad in the past from them that was very fresh. The order on the telephone was smooth. Grilled shrimp, ziti, broccoli in a scampi sauce. Sounded great. It wasn't. And it was expensive. Picked up my order no problems. I asked if the shrimp was frozen or fresh and they told me fresh. It was $25 for the one dish. I thought it was a little expensive but given the reviews for family sized portions I figured what the heck. It was so disappointing to get home, open my food, and find the blandest, plainest meal as if it came from a generic take out restaurant. The pasta was mushy, the broccoli was mushy, and there was no cook at all on the shrimp. There were no layers of flavor. It looked like olive oil and garlic that have been pre-prepared for garlic bread had been poured over overcooked food. There was no broil on anything. It was blah. Barely edible. Honestly, the ingredients could have been purchased for less than $10, and I can cook better. Disappointed. :( The full menu wasn't available online so I'm posting it.
