Linguine Clam Sauce

Out with friends who made a reservation here before the theater. Definitely a fantastic choice. We shared a seafood salad that was loaded with tons of seafood and had a fantastic flavor. For dinner Sandra had the half duck special. It was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. I had spaghetti with tuna special that was light and delicious. Our friends had the linguine with clams and a chicken special. Both said the loved their choices and they were delicious. The service was excellent and friendly and the prices and fair to high. Overall a pleasant experience and I will say we will definitely return. Enjoy

Our second visit to this Italian restaurant, and though the service is wonderful with attentive servers and greeting owner, the food is disappointing. Appetizers are OK. Just tad bit expensive for the portions they provide. The veal was paper thin and chewy. We had to joke about it being whether it was veal at all. Fettuccine pasta in vodka sauce was - probably home made - chewy and the sauce was stingy. The best dish of the evening was lasagna !!!!! Thin layers of pasta, tasty tomato sauce evenly distributedin between. Just wished for more generous portion. Pasta Vongole looked great but it did not have any taste to it. As much as I like the ambience, Staff and the owner, we don't think we would be raving about it to others.

Food is tasty, very $$$, service is unattentive."Clubby" feel - if you are known and "in" they treat you well. I wish them well... not going back.

BLUF: A surprisingly delicious meal. Why was it surprising? The complementary bruschetta at the start of the meal was not a great showing. The bread was stale, the tomatoes on top did not help to soften the stale, hard texture. However the bread basket had decent, warm bread slices. That was a confusing contrast. The rest of the meal was delicious. The pappardelle was made in-house, well cooked with a great ragu. The lasagna was really good too, very meaty. However the pasta was overcooked. While there were visible layers, the pasta had zero texture or mouth-feel against the Bolognese sauce. Nice place for a family dinner or a date night. Service was as attentive as they needed to be, albeit the restaurant was having a slow, post-Thanksgiving, Friday night.

The food is great and the service is also excellent. My family enjoy the lunch time in this place.

Established in 1969 on the site of the former Bicycle Club, Giovanni's Bicycle Club features irresistible flavors of Italian cuisine from family recipes using the finest ingredients. The reservation was easily made via OpenTable but was not necessary on a Sunday. Upon entering this two-story building, my partner and I were greeted by the host, and a few patrons were enjoying their meal on two enclosed outside patio decks with fans in the summer, so we joined them. The windows could be raised for that inclement weather, and heaters turned on when needed. They do have a main dining room, with the front bar much fancier. A few small bicycle artifacts make the place memorable and unique. We decided on the Philly Cheesesteak and Grilled Chicken Cobb Salad. Complimentary bread with dipping oil started our meal. The food was tasty with a healthy portion. The price was a bit pricey. The service was friendly; our server was Buket. We could recommend this place.

What service? The bartender made cameos behind the bar at random intervals. Most of the time, she was nowhere to be found. The bar was littered with empty glasses that sat there for the duration. I had to hunt her down for the check. I also didn't care for the location of the men's bathroom; literally right next to the bar. We also had to move our seats once because the opposite side of bar near the men's room was right next to the front door. It was freezing and the couple next to us had their coats on the entire time. PASS.

However, sense then I just haven't been very motivated to share my experiences. Comes in waves I guess. That said, I still trust the Yelp community and reviews and swear by them when the quality of a place is not known to me. Well, as it relates to Grissini Northern Italian Oasis in Englewood Cliffs, I'm sorry to say the community let me down! 3.3 rating for a restaurant that meets you at the parking lot with superior service. Ryan, thank you, made us feel welcome before we actually entered the building. Once inside, GM Michael and hostess welcomed us and sat us quickly in the main dining area. Then Domenica and team made every moment of our dining experience special. She literally made sure we got every craving we walked in the door with Satisfied. After taking a look back through the reviews, I am confused by the observations and experiences that were shared to justify them. If you are looking for a high end experience, you have to pay for it! Notions of Value are personal, but must also be reasonable. Also, this is an old school rustic style establishment, it doesn't have vegetarian or vegan on the sign outside, which should indicate they offer rich and flavorful experiences, and I might guess that salt is involved, Along with some pretty tasty protein. My Yelpers, we need to do better. I almost missed this place due to the 3.3 ( I typically run a filter). My wife and 4 year old got there early, around 6:45. The place was half full but was busy an hour into our meal. We got a Margarita pizza for my kid to start (no basil) and it came out quick, hot, as ordered and was delicious. My wife and I shared a Caesar salad. Just a side note, I love when a place never says no. I asked if it came with anchovies, while the answer to that question was no, it was quickly followed with, we can add them. So I got my anchovies and enjoyed the salad. My wife got Cavetteli with sausage and broccoli rabe and loved it, I grabbed a quick taste but wanted to focus on my Chicken Scarpiello (spelling sorry). I used to get this dish at Pietro's in the city and miss getting since my office moved. So I immediately asked Domenica about it and she confirmed it was very tasty, which it was. But what sealed it was letting me know it didn't come out with peppers and sausage but that it could be added upon request. So, once again I got the dish I was craving exactly how I like it. And it was perfect!. My wife and I shared the 7 later cake with a Scoop of Vanilla ice cream, it was light, flavorful and Delicious, I coupled it with the perfect Cappuccino. After receiving our leftover bag, I head out to meet the Valet, so my ladies didn't have to wait in the cold, only to find that Ryan noticed that we had gotten up from the table, and just had our car waiting. My 4 year old was almost as pleased with this as I was! I had to let Michael know our experience far surpassed the review score on Yelp, and even though I know the reviews themselves are more valuable than the aggregate score, it bothered me that the critical mass on this place was so misleading. The Bicycle restaurant across the street has solid 4.0 ratings, but it's really not in the same league as Grissini. So, I guess it just comes down to having aligned expectations? I hope this review helps to level set yours, the next time you are in the area and are looking for great experience that you don't mind paying for.

The pasta was very creamy and enjoyed the flavor. As someone who loves steak and is picky with how I receive it, I had ordered a porterhouse Medium Rare, the first one we received was overcooked to medium well and our server second guessed me when I brought it to attention. He had to call over another worker to double check and we had to ask once again if we were able to get it redone to our liking before even getting it replaced right away. The second porterhouse we received was done correctly and was seasoned well and had enough fat to make it buttery and melty. Espresso Martini was made well and for Whiskey Sours, if you like them on the smokier side, I would recommend it. All in all, we enjoyed all the food but the only set back for us was that we had to wait a little longer for our steak which we wanted to pair with our pasta. By the time it came out correctly, our pasta was already cold.

We arrived right when they opened (perfect timing, especially with a snowstorm expected later that day), so the restaurant was still quiet. The space has a modern, upscale vibe that definitely feels suited for special occasions. It's located on a busy street, and while they do offer valet, we lucked out with free street parking since it was early. They offer a prix fixe brunch for $39 per person, which includes an appetizer, entrée, and dessert. It's a good way to experience the restaurant without committing to a full dinner price point--but be aware that quite a few items come with upcharges, and drinks are not included, so the bill can climb quickly. I do have a gluten allergy, and I was honestly surprised by how limited the gluten-free options were for a restaurant of this caliber. That said, I made it work: I started with a Bellini, had the sizzling slab of bacon as my appetizer, the recovery burger (no bun sub roasted potatoes as a side) as my main, and finished with the salted caramel gelato. Everything I had was enjoyable, but I would have appreciated more flexibility in the menu. The rest of the group (no dietary restrictions) had more variety to choose from and really enjoyed their meals, which is always a good sign. Service was attentive without being overbearing--likely helped by the fact that it wasn't too crowded yet--so we were able to relax and actually enjoy conversation, which made the celebration feel special. The restaurant also has a private back room that looks great for parties, plus a downstairs lounge area, which adds to its appeal as an event space. Overall, for me it's definitely more of a special occasion spot, and while the pricing is on the higher side for what you get, brunch feels like the best way to experience it. I'd come back again--but probably stick to brunch.
