Came here for Christmas dinner , and it was packed. For the amount of people there , they served food very fast , there was little to no waiting from apps to main course. The food was average, most of it being super salty , chicken Milanese was overcooked. I liked my lobster ravioli, it def has a good amount of lobster in it, but the pasta was too thick and chewy. I think the crowd was too much for their kitchen to handle so I will be back to try it again (Reviews have been good for the restaurant) The one thing I could t get over was one of the waiters had horrible BO to a point I was tasting it in the food every time they passed by. read more

The staff was exceptionally attentive. The food was depressing. The rack of lamb was cooked to the perfect medium-rare temperature. The portion was about 8 ribs as expected. However, the sauce was sweeter than expected. The spinach tasted almost Vietnamese, as it had the taste of fish sauce. The veal with mushrooms reminded me of hospital food. But the veal here was tougher and the texture was difficult to chew. The sauce tasted like a British brown sauce. The food was 1 star for my wife and I. We will not eat here again. read more

I had really hoped to like this restaurant but the truth is that it was VERY disappointing for many reasons. The first sign of trouble was when I poured myself some of the olive oil in the bottle on the table on my plate to dip the bread. To be fair the fresh Italian bread on the table was delicious - very fresh, round authentic loaf. So I was so excited to dip it in the flavored olive oil. I did only the realize the oil was TERRIBLY rancid!!! Once I discovered that it was not surprising. The bottles are clear, not dark. They are sitting out in the tables and I am sure they don't take them in and put them away at night or during the day when they are closed and it must get very warm in there. It you have ever tasted old, rancid oil you will know EXACTLY what I mean. And I am not saying it was "off" or not fresh. It was BAD. I would bet all they do is top it off. After that I gave the complimentary garlic bread a try - that was a mistake too. Some very oily garlic in oil and spread on bread - not toasted though. Just sliced bread. No seasoning. But it was free so I guess that's appealing to some and I can't complain that it was not very good. We had the steamed clams in the white sauce and fried calamari as an appetizer. Calamari was fine. Crispy. Tasty. The clams - bland. Very bland. The sauce was oddly gummy and thickened like they used cornstarch - it was most definitely not due to butter. It was strange. The lobster ravioli were terribly overcooked and mushy although they tasted fine. The pink sauce was okay - needed salt but then was edible. The mushroom ravioli dish however was terrible. It had the same insipid white sauce as those steamed clams. The ravioli were terribly overcooked too and they were lacking flavor. The shiitake mushrooms in the sauce are canned. They were slimy, limp, and tasteless. The tomatoes were overcooked so mushy and tasteless too. The fresh spinach leaves on the top and the crumbles sausage were the only redeeming parts that had any flavor - which might have been fine had I ordered sausage and spinach. I hate to say this but I have to be honest. The restaurant was full. We are in our 50s and other than one other young person we were the youngest people in the house. I guess this restaurant is frequented by a loyal older crowd. And perhaps that is why it can survive with this quality of output. Particularly because it isn't low end price wise. On that note, I will add that after dinner you got a complimentary shot of limoncello or sambuca. This is smart marketing because they were tiny shots and they were certainly watered down. I'd be angry if I paid for them, but they too were free. This however is the sort of marketing ploy that makes people say wow that's great. But again I come for the meal. Not the watered down half shot at the end. Bottom line: If you are looking for decent Italian this is NOT the place to choose. There are many other better options - especially for the price. I'm sorry to say this but I would never recommend this to anyone who expects even decent tasting Italian food. Don't be fooled by the good reviews. If you notice the five star reviews are almost all coming from people who have only that review on Yelp and those pictures. They are not true reviews by real Yelp users. Note how many if any are from Yelp elite or Yelpers with a number of reviews. That's important to reading the ratings for what they are. If you go like we did only to find out they are so off, do others a favor like we did and review it honestly. read more

I had vodka in pink sauce for my entree and my father had the rigatoni with sausage and peas. Both of us were surprised how bland both meals were. We never add salt to food, but we had to because they both tasted like nothing. With salt added my penne was edible though not enjoyable. I have had better from my local pizzeria I am sorry to say. My father's rigatoni was similarly disappointing. The sausage was so overcooked it had very little flavor left. The peas were too were overcooked to the point they were mushy and didn't taste like anything either. The best part of the meal was the fresh bread with butter. We found that there were quite a few employees - either slow night or well staffed for great customer experience. Rather passing a dessert menu, they present you with a tray of options to choose from (I think that's pretty cool for visual decision makers). I haven't been here in a long time, but it was just as great, if not better than I remember. When you are seated, they serve you some delicious slices of garlic toast, as well as a basket of bread with herbed olive oil. After you order, they bring you complimentary salads. I feel this is becoming rare in restaurants, but I absolutely LOVE when a little salad is included! The menu has some traditional Italian dishes that you'd expect to see in any Italian BYOB, but it also has some more unique dishes as well. Mine was a chicken dish with an orange ginger glaze sauce, toasted almonds and dried cranberries. It was served with plenty of veggies and some mashed potatoes. Our table also shared a side of penne vodka. It was only $5 so why not, right? The pasta was perfectly Al Dante and the sauce was flavorful. When we first arrived, it seemed like there was a little confusion as far as Open Table reservations, but they handled it gracefully and got everyone who was waiting seated quickly. While I got a veal specialty that was just too heavy for me to finish. I think the manager saw we didn't finish our food, so gave us an amazing desert on the house (a banana pudding). Pretty damned good lunch special! I used to work in Waldwick but I don't know if this place was even here back then. At any rate, came out to Jersey to visit a friend and this is where she wanted to go, she was the driver, so off we went! The menu offers tons of good choices. The lunch special comes with a salad and coffee or tea, so I had a good time! I chose the salad with sliced almonds and feta cheese. They give you a plate of manzanilla olives and cubes of feta cheese, and slices of garlic bread, for the table, too! After my salad, I had the snapper livornese - ample sliced olives with capers, in a decent tomato sauce. It's a good filet of fish served over slivered carrots and fresh, crisp green beans! All that for about $16., more than reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food. My friend had a salad with Caesar dressing, I think, and a filet of snapper also - hers had a half peach on top and I forget what else, came with a scoop of rice. We "had to" share a decadent dessert! The waiter brought out the tray of possibilities. We ultimately had the chocolate chip molten chocolate lava cake, the size of a large muffin with the melted chocolate inside, served with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream. We had a large, tasty, satisfying meal for about $55, tax & tip included. These days, that's a good deal! To top it off, my friend had a 15% off coupon, so we spent even less! Ate there last night for New Year's Eve. The reservation was for 7:30. The venue was packed; but we were seated on time. I was impressed. My bf ordered the chicken parm, I ordered the eggplant parm. The chicken parm was 10/10! So soft and delicious. The eggplant parm was 25/10!; the best eggplant parm anywhere hands down. Great place in Waldwick to stop by for some Italian food. We came by for lunch which is a pre fixe with soup or salad, entree, and coffee or tea. I started off with the barley soup, which turned out to be a a big bowl of barley with a little soup and a few carrots. For my entree, I had the Snapper franchese which was super moist with a strong lemon creme sauce. I also tried some of the Osso Bucco which was nice and tender and fell right off the bone! Named after the classic Italian liqueur with a unique unmistakable lemon flavor and opened for 10 years, this establishment is a small casual BYOB restaurant. From the beginning, my partner, our friends and I were impressed by the hospitality of this family owned restaurant of two brothers (Remy and Jimmy) functioning as both host and server and decided to have dinner tonight. Reservation is highly suggested as the place was packed upon arrival. The menu has many traditional Italian dishes. Complimentary garlic bread, warm loaf and salad started our meal. As appetizers, we got Brie Cheese in a phyllo dough fresh fruit honey cranberry glaze and Calamari with sesame ginger sauce. For entrees, Pollo Calabrese (breast topped gorgonzola, wild mushrooms and red wine), Rigatoni Vodka in pink sauce, Rigatoni Angello with sweet sausage peas mushrooms pink sauce, Stuffed Rigatoni consisting four cheese vodka pink sauce and Homemade Cheese Manicotti with Bolognese meat sauce and spinach. The food was fresh, well seasoned, delicious and the portions generous. Some of us had room for dessert and got the limoncello cake and lime mousse pie. The staff including one of the owner's son Danny was very friendly and provided great service. They were attentive but certainly not intrusive. Decent Italian restaurant. Staff and service is good. Food is not bad, just very inconsistent. Sometimes good sometimes bad. Pasta dishes are very inconsistent. If you order for take out or get it delivered, sometimes the pasta type doesn't match your meal. For example instead of spaghetti noodle they will use linguine noodle. If they run out of pasta noodle they will make your food with different type of noodle. One thing I like about this place is their catering. Penne Vodka is consistently good and all the other catering menu items. I recommend this place if you want reasonably priced Italian food catered. Again the food is above average at best.
