I've now eaten here 5 times and it is consistently excellent. First the pizza. My wife and I are huge pizza lovers and have eaten at all of the greats in the greater NYC area including all 8+ rated One Bite pizzerias, the new greats like Ceres and Chrissy's, and renowned joints like Una Pizza (consistently rated among best in the world). Perusia hangs with the best in the tri-state area. Maybe not top 5, but somewhere around top ten. In NJ it has few rivals. It has a unique crust that is in a class of its own. Not too thin, reminiscent of a classic hand tossed ending up firm with initial crispness leading into chewiness with a nice tang - with blistering of focaccia and chewiness of naan. I strongly recommend the pies that include drizzle of olive oil and try to sit down, order fresh in the restaurant and eat there. Highly recommend the one with burrata. Sandwiches: flatbread style and a must try. The veg one is best and does very well with added chicken. Like the pizza, highly recommend having it in restaurant fresh out of the oven. Salads are very good and go beyond the simple greens you get at most pizzerias; that is, thoughtful ingredients eg avocado, nuts, chickpeas, etc and add-ons eg chicken. Their branzino is a hit - nice presentation with a lovely touch of high quality olive oil and very good potatoes. In short - much more of a treasure than the strip mall location suggests. We had Perusia cater our club hockey event for about 30 people. The food was superb - everything from the Penne Alla Norcina to the meat options and pizza were delicious. We also had some homemade tiramisu made for the event which was truly amazing! I took some home for a second pass and wished I had taken more to go. My husband, Harvey, and I were there a few weeks ago with a couple of family members who are hearing impaired - we asked for a table that would accommodate their hearing devices for ease of conversation when our sign language skills were lacking - the staff was wonderful! Tagliatelle Bolognese was hot and tasty. Was watching NCAA basketball at GEAR BLOCK brewery, open three years now, and Perusia , Open two years, is around the corner in the same plaza. They do free delivery, just a short walk. They sell slices and have plenty of room for a sit down family dinner. Price seems reasonable. At Gear Block a group of 10+ people were having pizza salads appetizers, hanging out not really there for the game. The bar was pretty full as well as folks at a couple of tables. The plaza in which Perusia is located is fine, but I found their retail space tucked in the corner near the exit and (kind of far from parking) isn't ideal nor easy for consumers. I used the Slice App to order a pizza pie and salad for pick up, so my experience and good quality could have been better in person? I found that the pizza lacked sauce. It was fine but too dry for my taste. The salad had very green avocados, not sufficiently ripe and the salad was probably a handful.. no value for cost in my opinion. read more

In my opinion, Perusia has the best thin crust pizza in town, we also loved the mussels, ravioli, bolognese, & tortellini. We were there for our Daughters birthday party today, and she and her friends loved the pizza, spaghetti & meatballs, & the pasta pomodoro and had a great time. The staff were incredibly helpful and nice, they held our birthday cake overnight for us and allowed us to decorate the table an hour before hand while the kids were at the escape room in the next shopping center. The Caesar salad was a bunch of chopped lettuce with dressing from a bottle on the side. Mussels arrived with several broken shells but they were edible. Waitress got our order wrong so they delivered some grilled octopus thing that smelled terrible and my pasta dish was oily and cold. Had to wait over 20 minutes for my husband's dish. Did not bring proper silverware or extra napkins. I guess this is nothing more than a pizzeria but I won't be back to try it. read more

The fresh toppings like the buffalo mozzarella on the bufalina with arugula is worth the visit alone. We also very much enjoy the Tagliatelle Alla Bolognese though it could use just a hint more salt. The sauce for the Cozse All'arrabbiata (steamed mussels) was very tasty. Clean, bright and warm inviting atmosphere and again friendly welcoming staff makes a visit especially when hungry worth it. I wish I could give this establishment no stars. First off I called at 5:55 and they told me the food would be ready at 6:20. I arrived at 6:20 and my food was not ready. Then as I waited they gave my pizza away to a customer that came after me. I adressed this concern and they accused me of lying. I will never ever go back to this horrible place. Pizza plain, not fresh and gross. Farefelle pasta had zero zucchini and the shimp were definitely out of a can, the size of brine shrimp which are utilized as shrimp food. Nothing was fresh. I can only assume that the Caprese Salad was a leftover from the kitchen, (a mix of sliced cherry tomatoes and Roma style tomatoes.) Ordered a pizza from here for takeout this past Friday night. Did a large buffalo pizza which was for 22 dollars which is accurate and true to the area. The pizza was out of this world fantastic. The crust was flaky and can hold up to the the half fold, never going limp. The buffalo mozzarella cheese was the perfect combination of salty and creamy.
