My husband and I randomly stepped in here in search of a quick dinner, and walked away pretty happy. We ordered two slices - mushroom and sausage - along with a grilled chicken Caesar salad - and were not disappointed. The slices here might not be the best or the largest, but there's an appreciable crisp acquired on the crust from the oven. We're a big fan of mushrooms, so we also loved how heavily they laid the mushrooms on those slices. Surprisingly, the salad was the star of our table spread. The sliced chicken was so moist and well-marinated that our forks were fighting for every last piece long after we pronounced ourselves full. I love the brisk and efficient service you get at a longstanding pizzeria, and we definitely got it at John's Boy's. You might not get smiles and cheer, but you'll get your food fast. Our food arrived at our table around five minutes after we ordered, and considering how hungry we were, we considered this a blessing. I don't think anyone steps into a pizzeria expecting ambiance, but there are a few things I found noteworthy while dining in. There's a definite draft during colder weather that seemed to push diners closer to the inside of the restaurant. There are single-stall bathrooms available, but the women's bathroom didn't close all the way. I found myself finishing my business hurriedly lest someone walk in on me. read more

Aside from the great pizza and sandwiches , it's the Luke's diner (Gilmore girls) of Glen Rock. all of Glen Rock goes there, it's iconic . you will really enjoy the pictures on the wall. you have to go and see them, I won't spoil it. John, was a warm hearted guy, everybody loved him got rest his soul. sometimes, he would make me pick a "winning horse" out of the paper for him. the place was always buzzing with the Glen Rock faithful . It's a family atmosphere. and the cops go, the mailmen, it's a throw back to Mayberry. while the town has changed, John's boy hasn't. it's the closest thing you can get to "it's a wonderful life" atmosphere as you can get. try John's boy's in the best town in Bergen county, Glen Rock! read more

Made our way over here after a friend kept telling us we had to try their Sicilian and Margherita slices. It's right in the heart of town, so there's street parking only which can get a little hairy. Pizzeria is a very old school looking establishment, which I love. Lots of charm. They do sell pizza by the slice but it is cash only. So either have cash on hand or there's an ATM in the lobby. Both slices were very good. I thought the Sicilian was slightly better but that's my personal preference. Sauce was extremely good. Not overpowered with seasoning. Sicilian was nice and cheesy and Margherita was made with quality fresh ingredients. I should have asked it to be kept in the oven another minute or two to crisp up the crust but that's on me. Basically, I placed a phone delivery order for a Large pie Xtra cheese on 1/20 at around 9:00pm and received the above pizza at around 9:30pm. While I was grateful that they were able to deliver to FL when it was almost closing time, I do wish they may have taken a bit longer to allow the cheese to settle because it actually spread off the pie (the above is my trying to put it together-- check the fat oil spot on the bottom right). I was really hungry and it was pretty late so I ate the pizza anyway but just as a notice to the owners/delivery drivers to be more careful when delivering just-out-the-oven pizzas because the final product quality suffers. read more

A plain slice here is consistent and ratio of ingredients to dough is perfect to me - crust is crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, and not too thick. Chicken vodka slice is bomb dot com. I tried chicken penne vodka on a slice but thought the penne was overkill, so wouldn't recommend. Other dishes are simple and tasty - we ordered mozz sticks, shrimp marinara on penne, Mediterranean salad, and Stromboli, but don't go out of your way to order these unless you're specifically craving. A very hidden sliver of a busy Main Street, this pizzeria at first can be hard to find. It was our first time ordering pizza from here relatively close to us so we gave it a whirl. We order two large pies, a classic nyc style cheese pizza and one with sausage. Because we also had a vegetarian among us we also chose to order their Mediterranean salad that they advertise as one of their most popular salads. The person who helped me at the counter when I was picking up my order was really nice and friendly. Because this was my first time ordering from this pizza place, I was surprised to find out it is a CASH ONLY establishment. ATM is by the door. They also do NOT DELIVER! Pizza- the pizza is pretty reasonably priced at $14 for a regular large pie I believe it was around 2 dollars to 2 dollars and 50 cents to add a single topping to your order. Salads were also around $10-$14. The pizza itself wasn't the best pizza I've ever tasted on the east coast but was still arguably better than a lot of the other pizzerias I have tried to date in the Washington area. There are a lot of pockets of tomato sauce that turns into watery pool which will contribute to your cheese falling off the slices. If you are a real sticker for your cheese not slipping off your slice, this is not your pizza. Salad - Mediterranean salad was decent - the portion was enough to share amongst three people and there was a good amount of variety of toppings. There were some pieces of cheese, olives, and roasted red peppers. One thing I did not like that I was surprised that they tossed my to-go salad with the dressing rather than serving it on the side. A huge no- no in my book as it causes the salad to wilt and this shouldn't be the case in a to-go order. Besides that, this place is pretty decent - not a pizzeria worth raving about but still satisfied my craving to get a New York style pizza. read more

These are some of the most friendly people I have come across. The pizza is great hands down old skool pizza. The crust is made from scratch with good flour I could see them making bread with it. Crunchy, doughy with a semolina bite. I really like this pie as a go too for games , regular dinner. Really good price for the pie. read more

Don't sleep on the grilled chicken and sautéed broccoli when you want to keep your carb intake low - but god damn the fresh garlic bread parm is OD. Tiny storefront but the best pizza in town. Reminds me of Nino's, the best pizzeria in Jamaica, Queens where I grew up. I feel like this is NYC style pizza at it's best. Been coming here for almost 30 years. And the owners are nicest people you'll ever meet. We go minimum, once a week, literally, every friday for 29 + years. Johns boy is a little slice of heaven. Literally, it's shaped like a big slice. Umberto the man running the show gets all my respects. The man is a master of his craft. Decent pizza ! Nice think crust, tasty sauce and cheese was pretty good but sometimes too thick in some parts. Not the best I've ever had in this area but 2 slices and a soda for less that $5 and I would go back ! It's a tiny place, really narrow and if you walk past the door you would miss the whole place. Sells by the slice pizza for $2 a slice and they have a good variety. They also have sandwiches and pastas, but they are best known for their pizza. something happened and this place went downhill over the years. i gave the benefit of the doubt and continue to come after multiple sub par experiences because i like to support small business in glen rock. but i'm over it. the first horrid experience was when i orders a penne chicken vodka wrap, i've had it many times before. But now, the wrap fell apart as soon as i ate it. there were multiple clumps of hard pieces of chicken, and the taste was bland. Second time i orders 2 slices to go and they were burnt to a crisp on the bottom, and all the toppings slid right off. now my last and final experience because i will never be come back was yesterday. ordered 2 slices for pick up. i opened the box and was pissed. 2 slices that can't even be called slices because they were so small. i attached a picture of them side by side and one is literally have the size of the other. not to mention the topping slid off and i only got about 2/3 bites out of each of them. I'm highly dissatisfied and disappointed at this quality of food because it used to be my favorite place , the owner is a great guy. i don't want his business to fail so please fix up your place. and your employee is standing behind the register smoking her vape as customer are at the counter. i'm all for a friendly relaxed work encipherment especially when there's teenagers operating your place but that's a bit much. read more
