Better than leftovers on Thanksgiving Saturday

Returned to PB last night and John and his team delivered a very memorable evening. Warmed rolls with pesto and butter were so delish on a cold evening. Our appt were delicious and our group shared. The waitress complied and tweaked one of their specials to franchise the jumbo shrimp instead of scampi. Not every restaurant can master a delicate risotto but PB nailed it. Very reasonable check considering the quality and cost of seafood these days. We will return sooner rather than later Michele O

Returned to this lovely, quaint establishment last evening with friends. Had not dined here in two years therefore we were delighted to return. It was a perfect Monday evening dinner. We sat outside with our bottles of wine - BYOB. The owner, John, took care of us the entire evening along with the rest of the tables. He was quick, nonstop and just great! We ordered a few specials including the sirloin with glazed mushrooms, mashed potatoes and veggies. It was delightful! We also tried the risotto with scallops -my absolute favorite dish of the evening!! We had the chicken dish again (forgot the name) but it was oh-so-tasty! We were there for a small bday dinner and John was extremely generous and provided us with a complimentary chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. It was huge and absolutely delicious!! The ambience, weather, seating, cleanliness and service was outstanding! Will most definitely return again and again! Oh they provided complimentary warm bread with olive oil, pesto and basil? We devoured that as well! Thanks for a wonderful evening John and an extra thanks for not kicking us out even though we sat there chatting and laughing after your closing time.

This is BYOB, it has Nice outdoor seating area that is covered and has fresh greenery. The owner was attentive to our table, brought out a wine bucket for keep our wine chilled. The service was good. It took awhile for our bread to come but when to did it was warm and served with a seasoned dipping oil. Apps- polenta with mushrooms and artichokes was tasty. Dinner- chicken parm was thin and crispy and served with pasta. The halibut special was served with a glaze that had green grapes in it. I was curious to try it and I'm glad I did. It was a sweet and savory dish. The chicken saltimbocca was a little dry and the sauce was bland. The last dish our table had was the special pappardelle with chicken dish served with a spinach and sundried tomato sauce which was tasty but just need a little salt.

We made a reservation for NYE night at 5:30. We were sat immediately and noticed that only a few other tables were filled. There was a host, 1 server and 1 food runner. We sat with the menus for a while before the server took our order. We ordered our appetizer and entrees at the same time. Warm bread and oil came out and then we were ignored for the approximately 35 minutes it took for our appetizer to come out. We had to ask for a bucket of ice for our wine bottle. It is BYOB. I overheard you can get wine delivered from a local shop. Everyone is friendly enough, but seem way too laid back about service. Just 3 people handling the front of house, especially on a holiday was wild. The place filled quickly while we were there and no other help arrived. Our entrees took a while to come out once she took our appetizer plate away. They kept saying no to walk-ins, but then backing down and saying that they could only order an entree and had to leave quickly. I feel like their food was prioritized over ours to get them out quickly. I watched another table get sat for their reservation and they waited over 15 minutes to even get menus! The food was very good and well prepared. The lava cake was a bit dry, but the creamy vanilla ice cream saved the dish. We had cappuccinos with dessert and they were delicious. If you bring a few bottles of wine, good company and have an open schedule, the food is worth checking out.

We had the gnocci cacio de Pepe and the squid ink pasta. Overall a very nice dinner. It is the perfect little byob restaurant for a quick dinner or night out.

After a walk about downtown Ridgewood, we wandered in to Piccolo Bistro and so glad we did! The food was Ah-mazing! Perfectly flavored and portioned sized. The salad was fresh as if the leaves and vegetables were just picked! The chicken Parmigiana and Francese were paired with the right amounts of sauces and was so delicious! This was my first visit to this restaurant and will certainly come back. The staff is friendly and there is light musical notes humming in the background while we sat out door in the warm summer air of the evening.

Fantastic BYOB cozy relaxed home-style place. Great food, comfortable atmosphere and perfect level of service. I ordered the codfish special and it was delicious. The other items we ordered were also very good. Warm bread with herbed olive oil to start, nice sweet and sour salad and then the entrees. No room for dessert but they sound great!

Situated in Ridgewood near the train station in a nice Bergen County community. Parking is a bit tough, so be prepared to walk a couple blocks. The venue is a bit old and outdated inside. Although we dined indoors it looks like outdoor dining in good weather could be pleasant . The menu was somewhat uneventful. Our group tried a bunch of different items which mostly stood out as OK at best The chicken Parm might have been the best, but would have expected one of the pastas to take the number one spot. Polite and attentive servers made the experience much more tolerable. The octopus appetizer with chickpeas and quinoa sounded great, but should've passed. The antipasto appetizer was a couple pieces of sliced meat, mozzarella, artichoke, and some sliced olives, and tomatoes for garnish. However, reasonably priced, and a BYOB in a nice active area of town. Our server was great and it was easy to get a reservation.

We came shortly after they opened at 11:30 and there was only one other family dining there the entire time we were there. We had: -Assortment of three spreads - hummus, tzatziki, and skordalia (potato, garlic, olive oil). We originally wanted to get the roasted eggplant but they said they hadn't made it yet. All the spreads were fine - nothing special about it. It comes with some pita bread for dipping. Next, we had some grilled halloumi -Avgolemono Soup - comforting on a cloudy day. Even my toddler enjoyed it and she doesn't usually like meat but ate a few chunks of the chicken -Grilled Halloumi (with fig jam) - this was a little oily and very salty. I did like the fig jam with it but $17.95 for a chunk of cheese is pretty pricey -Gyro Combo Platter (pork, chicken, and lamb gyro served with fries, pita, tomatoes, onions, and tzatziki) - I missed where the menu said it's served with tzatziki because then I probably wouldn't have ordered the assortment of spreads. The pork was chewy, and the chicken was dry, but the lamb was good. They did have a nice flavor though. Again, my daughter who doesn't like meat even ate some of the chicken and the lamb. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back here, especially since there were really only two things we really liked. But if you do visit, I'd recommend just getting the lamb gyro. Tip - BYOB

As I sat down, I could tell immediately that the owners had a great sense of aesthetic design through the selection of their tableware and utensils and overall design of the interior. The light fixtures, mural and even the bathroom had an intentional curated look and feel. And this design-sense carried through to both the presentation of the dishes as well as the ingredients and flavors. I ordered the crispy tofu and fried-shrimp donut for my starters and shrimp Pad Thai and Crab fried rice for my mains. There was a slight mixup with the Shrimp Pad Thai and I got crispy pork belly instead of the shrimp and holy smokes, it was a welcome mix-up because it was fantastic. The thing that stood out to me most was how springy and fresh tasting the noodles were. The quality of the noodles transported me back to Thailand. The crab fried rice which came shortly after the Pad Thai - WOW. It was the star of the show for me; it was so incredibly tasty. The rice was flavorful, the egg was prepared so fluffy and tender, and the crab meat cooked perfectly. Incredible dish. Throughout the night, my table was served by, who I would later find out, the owners Mike and his wife Nana. They were incredibly kind, accommodating and Mike was so friendly and had a great sense of humor. Toward the evening, I expressed to him how fresh and springy the noodles were and he explained how he picks up fresh noodles and fish every morning. This commitment to quality is what sets restaurants like this apart. Excellent job.

I've been to this chain at a few different locations, and it's good. This location offers a bento box, which I thought was a good deal. I ordered the beef bulgogi bento, and it was delicious. My other favorite dishes were the Japche (which had a sweet umami flavor) and the corn cheese (the sweet corn was balanced by the mozzarella cheese). My husband had the LA Kalbi bento, and the ribs were very flavorful. My brother in law had the pork cutlet, which was a big portion. My parents had the seafood bibimbap - they added the sauce already and there was a lot of it so it was pretty spicy. The other locations I've been to let you add the sauce on the side which I prefer. I also ordered the Tteokbokki appetizer with the fried dumplings and shrimp tempura. I saw this all over Instagram/Tiktok, but I think I'm just not a fan of the dish in general (not necessarily just this spot alone). The fried sides were also heavy and the shrimp tempura had a heavy breading instead of the panko I'm used to. I'd skip - but some of the table enjoyed it. This location is also BYOB. Service here was great, and they checked on us often. They also offer side dishes before your entrees came out and the fish cakes were my favorite. The LA Galbi was absolutely amazing--tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. Definitely one of the highlights of the meal. Another must-order is the chicken with cheese, which consistently hits every time. It's rich, savory, and exactly what you're hoping for when you order it. That said, the soondubu (tofu stew) didn't quite live up to expectations. Even when ordered "very spicy," it was lacking both the heat and the depth of flavor you'd expect. It wasn't bad by any means, just a bit underwhelming compared to the rest of the meal. Overall, SGD Tofu House is a dependable spot with some excellent dishes that keep you coming back--just a few tweaks on the stew would easily push this to a full 5 stars.

The service is very attentive. Right when we sat down the host gave us water which was nice. The waiter was a little too attentive, kept coming up to us to ask if we were ready to order when we were not, and just kept coming and coming every two minutes. They give complimentary flat bread which is tasty. Our Persian friend mentioned usually Persian restaurants give the bread with herbs and feta rather than just plain. We did find on the menu the herbs and feta was an extra cost. We had the kebab combo and subbed cherry rice and salad (which is cucumbers and tomatoes) and also exchanged the ground chicken kebab for a chicken breast kebab. The standout was the steak kebab and the cherry rice. There were so many cherries in the rice, and it was both sweet and savory. I couldn't stop eating it. The steak was super juicy and well seasoned. I also really like the roasted tomato on the side, basil and pickled cabbage. We ordered a stew, think it was Ghormeh sabzi. It had a bunch of herbs in it, and beans and a dried lime. Was told not to eat the lime. It was a very strong and rich stew, I took a couple of bites. Don't think I could have eaten the whole thing. We stopped in mid-week for a family dinner after work and even on a Wednesday the place was buzzing. The restaurant itself is pretty tiny, which makes for a cozy atmosphere but also means tables are very close together. If you can, I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. The menu is somewhat minimal, but the food overall was good. I eat gluten-free and noticed the options were a bit limited, which made ordering slightly challenging. I ended up going with the sea scallops. They were nicely cooked, but the portion was smaller than I expected--five small scallops with some vegetables. For the price, I do wish the portion had been a bit more generous. I have to admit I left still a little hungry. My dad ordered the short rib grilled cheese and really enjoyed it. That was probably the standout dish at our table. My sister ordered the honey bourbon chicken and said it was okay, but afterward she mentioned she probably should have gone with the short rib grilled cheese instead. One surprise of the night was live music on a Wednesday. I usually enjoy live music, but since we were hoping to catch up as a family it made conversation a little difficult. The music was fairly loud for such a small space. Service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. They also have a rewards program, which worked out nicely--my dad received a complimentary dessert for his birthday. I ordered the crème brûlée, which was a great way to end the meal. A couple practical tips: parking in Ridgewood can be tricky. The restaurant advertises valet parking, though we didn't use or see it during our visit. If you find street parking, make sure to feed the meter because the town is known for giving out tickets. In warmer months they do offer some outdoor sidewalk seating, though it looks fairly limited. It also appears they have a happy hour, though we didn't arrive in time to try it. Overall, I'd recommend checking out Steel Wheel Tavern--just be mindful of the timing of your visit, especially if you're hoping for a quieter dinner.
