We showed up before opening with half a dozen people already waiting. All of the choices were good. Here's my ranking. 6.) Chocolate babka 5.) Biscotti 4.) Apple fritter 3.) Salted maple pecan Cinnie 2.) Cinnamon vanilla crueller 1.) Chocolate almond croissant I'm going to skip the sourdough loaf next time. There are about a dozen seats inside. We were lucky to grab a table.

Officially my new favorite go to bakery and coffee spot! Located in Ridgewood closer to the train station I find parking on this side of town is always fed easier. Inside is well decorated with ample tables and indoor seating should you choose to stay. Definitely more of a layout for ordering to go. I ended up ordering almost one of everything from their menu. Their matcha with strawberry jam is a must try as it is both delicious and refreshing and not too sweet at all. I love their oversized cinnies! Delicious and so quickly eaten it did not make a photo. Everything truly is made with love and clean ingredients here and you are able to taste the difference. Service is friendly and efficient. When I went on a Saturday afternoon it was busy but the line moves very quick.

On a rainy Sunday morning this was such a pleasant sweet treat! The coffee here was just average. I ordered a vanilla oatmilk latte and at 1pm it was a tad bitter but the pistachio filled donut was the star of the show. My son had a chocolate chip cookie that he devoured in a few seconds. My only other complaint is that the garbage cans were overflowing. They must have had a morning rush but when we arrived there was enough of a break to address the lobby garbage cans being filled

Everything is soooo delish. Deserves all the hype it gets. Their cinnamon rolls are a must try.

This was my second time visiting and I got to say this is a great little gem on the west side. It has plenty of street parking and the lines aren't bad during the week. They're known for a funky rotating specials menu, danishes and sweet and savory combos staple items. I had the coconut cream cruffin and the mocha latte- everything was very delicious. My only feedback is the coffee menu seems a little limited and I do think the prices are little high for a latte and muffin - it was $15 before tip. It doesn't seem realistic for a regular person to make this an everyday stop but weekly/bi-weekly could be done!

Yummmm! I stopped in one afternoon in search of the double chocolate muffin (pictured). I keep seeing it on their Instagram - it was delectable! I also got the Pumpkin Cinnie which was a pumpkin Cinnabon and that ended up being my favorite. I also got the butternut squash focaccia bread and the espresso glaze donut.

Finally made it to Black Magic after following them on Instagram and constantly drooling over their selection. Their doughnuts are made fresh and selection is updated often using fresh and in season ingredients. The doughnuts are big and delicious. I learned some flavors can sell out as they are made daily. They also serve sandwiches on house made breads, coffees, and other pastries. I love that they have a cute sitting area and sell some cute merchandise like tshirts and coffee.

Not a person who enjoys sweets, drink anything past an iced latte with minimal syrups added. And yet, Black Magic has me disappointed when they operate only from Thursday through Sunday as I crave to go visit on a tuesday, haha. The portions are huge, the prices are more than reasonable and the decorative interior can be split into three genres. Punk Rock rebel, Rustic and relaxed wooden interior and gothic church vibes deeper in the back. Black Magic Bakehouse lives up to its name and personality. . The menu changes every month, and trying nearly half the menu with friends in my two trips in July left me wanting to make it a regular visit. I travel out of my way to visit this particular bakery to get my sweet tooth sated and wait for what new creations this team will make for the coming months. I'll be back, and wait begrudgingly for the end of the week to arrive.

Have wanted to visit this new spot for the longest time and I managed to go before their closing/sold out! Definitely more quiet than other cafes in Ridgewood but I really enjoyed their interior and seating - more cozy and calming. Their donuts seem a little cakier than my preference but all the flavors looked delicious - there's definitely more pastries and donuts I want to try next time!

Third time here ! This time we tried the seasonal Pumpkin chai swirlie, carrot cake, salted honey croissant, and chocolate croissant all amazing ! Quick counter service with a few small indoor and outdoor tables to enjoy these delicious, fresh baked on the premises goodies.

Amazing little bakery. Menu changes on a regular basis so follow their social media. Go often and try all the things. Usually a little line to order but worth the wait. A few small tables inside and out but not much room.

Banana Thai Tea donut - delicious
    Beena K.

The banana Thai iced tea filled donut was delicious! You can taste both flavors in a nice balance and although it was nearly closing the donut was not stale or tough. The texture of the cream was a light cream so it wasn't over sweet or too thick... very well done! I'd like to try other unique flavors in future visits. I was slightly disappointed that there was no cappuccino on the menu which is my go to. So I only got a donut and was given only this flimsy paper holder. This would have been fine, but the two women after me ordered a similar item each and were each given a sturdier pink box. Ideally, consistency in customer service could be better as well as cleanliness. The back seating area needed a good sweep. However, these are minor points as the food is the star and I would takeaway from here in the future.

    Passion fruit cinnamon roll

I love this place, glad I don't live closer or I'd literally be here every day. The staff is friendly, the ambiance is super cute and eclectic (obsessed with the mosaic bird light), service was quick and food was out of this world. My friend and I split the seasonal passion fruit cinnamon roll and the breakfast sandwich with sausage- the cinnamon roll was sweet, chewy, and the passion fruit was a unique touch I haven't seen done before. The egg on the breakfast sandwich was super fluffy and the bread tasted super fresh. I also got a turkey sandwich for my other friend and it was HUGE and looked phenomenal. Can't wait to come back and try it! Ps- I recommend getting the marshmallow on top of your coffee for like $1, it was perfect.

Service was quick and efficient. I ordered a latte and a scone. The scone was very delicious and fresh. My boyfriend ordered a frozen hot chocolate and a chocolate éclair. I tried a bit of the éclair and we both agreed that it was the star of the show. I normally am not a big éclair person but this one was so chocolatey and rich. It was filled with this creamy, fresh chocolate filling. I strongly dislike the store bought cream filling that they are usually piped with. We sat at one of the little tables on the sidewalk outside since the weather was nice. I will be back if I am in the area and in the mood for a sweet treat!

We snagged one as people were getting up. I got a napoleon and another dessert that was chocolate mouse with Carmel and a biscuit cookie on the bottom. It was soo good. Really fluffy but also creamy and rich. Highly recommend this place if you love chocolate! I spent near $30 for a small hot chocolate, a cookie, pastry and mini cake. So it is expensive! But worth it once in a while. And they have a bathroom in the back!

If I hadn't looked them up, I would have never guessed that they were a chain. As expected, we were the only ice cream craving knuckleheads walking in on a 50 degree weekday, but on the plus side we had this cozy ice cream shop all...to...ourselves! We were greeted by an employee who walked out from the back and she presented us with the menu on an iPad since the TV screens above the counter were not operating. To sum up their menu - they specialize in mostly Asian-inspired soft serve ice cream creations that are instagram-worthy. Sure, you'll probably want to take 47 pictures of whatever you order, but the pictures really don't do the delicious ice cream justice. We ended up ordering one of their "Floteas", which is basically a bubble tea topped with a beautiful tower of soft serve ice cream. Specifically, we got the Taro Bubble Tea & Matcha/Taro Swirled Ice Cream, but there were multiple other flavors we EASILY could have been swayed towards. Not knowing just how gargantuan the Flotea would be, we decided to also order the Nom Nom Cookie Signature Mason Jar, which consist of Monster Cookie Ice Cream, Chocolate Crunch, Chocolate Syrup, Cookie Crisp, Marshmallows, and Oreos. Once again, another monstrosity of an ice cream order that could be shared by 2-3 ice cream lovers. Honestly, considering that the prices were around $10-$11 for just about everything on the menu, we should have knew that we were about to find out where every penny of that money went to. Let's just say, we loved, I mean, loveeeeed the ice cream. I especially was infatuated with our Flotea, mainly because I have had a major lifetime crush (if I can describe it that way) on soft serve ice cream and they made it to perfection here. Of course, it didn't hurt that the ice cream happened to be a matcha/taro swirl, which are 2 of my all-time favorite flavors. In addition, they also had Earl Grey Vanilla, Vietnamese Iced Coffee and a combo of both - did anyone say heaven? As for the Nom Nom Cookie jar, excellent. Unfortunately, we were stuffed to the gills from our lunch prior to coming here and, on top of it all, it was a frigid fall day, but we still thoroughly enjoyed the ice cream here and you can bet that we'll be back one day when we can actually feel our fingers after holding the ice cream for more than 10 seconds.

That being said, the tea is premixed so there's no opportunity to adjust tea or sugar level. Tapioca pearls were a perfect consistency. With such a large variety of cookies offered, the only difficulty I had was selecting six because I wanted to explore them all. As I opened the box, I was in awe as to how gigantic they truly were. Chocolate Chip: The original flavor has and will always be my personal favorite. As you can see, it is packed with dark chocolate chip morsels. Cookies N Cream Cheesecake: If you are looking for the perfect variation of a sugar cookie, you've found it. This highlight of this masterpiece is the shot of sweet cream cheese infused in its center. Confetti: This other version of the sugar cookie is loaded with sprinkles. It has a rainbow-like appearance. Rocky Road: This ice cream inspired cookie is loaded with marshmallows and chopped almonds. Think of it as a moist, warm version of the classic treat. S'mores: Why purchase marshmallow, graham cracker, and chocolate when all you need to do is buy this cookie? It is identical to the real deal and you will definitely want "s'more." Chip City specializes in baking cookies with a soft, gooey center. After drooling over photos online, I decided to treat myself one night. The store is located on a main street in Ridgewood, so it's street parking only. When I walked in, I couldn't get over how cute and bright the store was. To whoever is in charge of the marketing, design, and logos... kudos to you! A sweet employee (I think her name was Chrissy?) answered all my questions and helped me out. Since I came later in the evening, I was worried there wouldn't be too many cookies available, but I was wrong. There were plenty AND they were still fresh too! They offer classic flavors as well as seasonal and artisanal ones. So many unique and creative options! They also have mini ones and thin ones (with less calories). Flavors are rotated weekly and you can check the website for the line-up. Each cookie is $5.50, but trust me... they are dense, large, and can be shared with other people. I decided on the 3 Box Special ($14.50) and got... *Italian Rainbow - MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE ONE! It's a tri colored almond cookie filled with raspberry jam and topped with dark chocolate ganache. The almond paste was so rich and the sweet jam was the perfect touch. A MUST TRY! *Chocolate Chip - A yummy classic. How could you go wrong with a brown sugar cookie with dark chocolate chips? *Fluffernutter - The description made it sound better than it tasted, so this was my least favorite out of the three. It's a vanilla sugar cookie with peanut butter chips filled with marshmallow cream. The peanut butter overpowered everything else. I feel like this would work better with a chocolate cookie. What I love about these cookies is that they don't just taste like a giant blob of sugar. You can actually appreciate and distinguish between the different flavors and ingredients. If you like crispy/crunchy cookies, you probably won't be a fan. If you enjoy cookies with a slightly crunchy exterior, but a soft, ooey, gooey (almost raw-like) interior, Chip City is for you!
