I was ambivalent about going to this coffee shop after seeing the other reviews, but I'm glad I did! It is clean and spacious. The baked goods are nicely displayed. I met up with two friends and it was a great place to sit and talk. The Meusli was delicious and so was the Croissant. Service was friendly. Would return... it is situated central to the shops in Ridgewood and the menu is extensive
I'm going to be honest--this place was already on my list, but I only ended up coming here because another bakery I drove to was sold out by 11:30 AM. That said, neither the matcha nor the pastry disappointed. It's still not my first choice and probably won't be, but my daughter said it was the best pastry she's ever had! I can't quite say the same, but it was definitely delicious. It wasn't messy, and it did the job The matcha had a delicate flavor--just the right balance of not too sweet and not too bitter. The café itself is beautiful and spacious, with plenty of room to sit, get some work done, or catch up on some reading. Definitely a nice spot to spend some time.
I truly love this place. The first time I had it was when I was in Washington DC, and I remember thinking to myself, I wish they would bring one up to New Jersey. Wow then they did. My only complaint is that whenever I order a Matcha latte, they won't put the pistachio syrup in my latte, which makes me sad. Other than that, though the servers are always nice. There's always somewhere to sit even when it's busy and I just have a great time there overall. There's plenty of seating available and I just love the vibe. I feel like I'm in a Parisian café.
Lovely cafe with plenty of sit-down space plus bar seats around the barista. I've only ever been to a location in Boston, so I was excited to visit the newly opened one in downtown Ridgewood. Parking can be tricky especially around lunchtime. There is a small lot tucked in the back, but plenty of street parking or metered parking close by. The line moves fast - so once you get in, you can grab a menu or order à la carte from the bakery and dessert cases. Once you pay, you get a numbered paddle, which you can take to your seat and servers will bring your food over quickly. The matcha lattes were delicious and had the perfect milk froth and design A+ for presentation The breakfast sandwich (salmon, avocado, and egg) is on a soft brioche with micro-greens and the perfect tangy dressing - satisfied my craving and was filling. Highly recommend!
As someone who lived in Boston for 10 years and went to Tatte many times, I was excited to hear that the beloved Tatte was finally near me. So naturally I had to try it! My bf and I shared a couple of things from the menu- including their pistachio croissant, shakshuka, and a sandwich with their hot chocolate and chai. All were good and have no complaints with the food. My only complaint was the menu items that I originally wanted (a matcha refresher and a salad) were out of stock so had to pivot and order something else. I'll attribute it to the fact that I went on a busy saturday and it was within a few weeks of them opening so I'm willing to be a bit more forgiving.... But luckily what I DID order ended up being pretty good so my disappointment did blow over. Overall, Tatte is pretty solid-- don't expect the best food you ever had, but it's great if you are looking for a cafe with chic aesthetic and a variety of pastries, savory food, and drinks located in a cute downtown.
I have been here a few times now and absolutely love the food! The Kouign- Amann is a delicious croissant-like pastry that is my personal favorite, light, layered, and caramelized with sugar. Their croissants are huge and also very good- my husband and I really liked the pistachio and almond ones. I have also had the breakfast sandwich, which is very tasty. My only complaint is the service at the coffee bar can be a little slow, but I do love their Cafe au Laits! Definitely come if you feel like indulging! You are in for a treat.
This cafe is pretty big inside and there is paid street parking. If you get there before a certain time you can definitely run in and take your order to go since paying starts at a certain time. That's what I did. Ordered a croissant and iced pistachio latte. The person at the counter was super nice and friendly and engaging! The latte was okay and the croissant was perfectly flakey and I liked that they gave the butter with it. Looks like a good spot to work from. I would like to come back to enjoy the ambiance and try a different drink.
This location is huge with tons of indoor and outdoor seating. Their pastries are amazing, but I highly recommend ordering the chocolate croissant. Also, the Breakfast sandwich which comes with eggs, Vermont cheddar and applewood smoked bacon on their homemade sourdough is probably the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. We visited on a busy Saturday morning and all of the employees were so friendly. Not sure if it was the owner or manager who took our order, but she made our experience amazing.
It's a large, airy, beautiful cafe to meet up with friends in north Jersey and chat for a while. Tatte bakery was founded in Boston I think as there were many in Boston area when I visited 2 years ago. It has been ventured backed or bought by a venture company who brought us Panera Bread and is now expanding into NJ and all over I presume. I would NOT there go on a weekend as I'm sure it would be super packed and you won't be able to get a table even though the space is HUGE. It can get busy even during weekday peak morning hours. Drinks are well made and you have a large variety of food menu so everybody will find something they like. They have tons of baked good options and breakfast items but this is a cafe so do not expect pancakes and French toast. They do have some eggy dishes though. Overall food is fresh and good quality, and service is great. Another location opened in Paramus in Bergen Town Center so gotta check that out soon as it is closer.
Fantastic Latte amazing pastries. my husband and I consider our self café gurus and we can say this is one of the better ones.
Having lived in Boston for 4 years, I was stoked to hear that Tatte was coming to NJ! We visited on a Monday afternoon and found it moderately busy. The interior was spacious with tile walls and flooring, just like the other locations I'd visited. There was no line to order at the counter and plenty of menus to look at. I got a Sparkling Matcha Lemonade and the Braised Short Rib & Eggplant Couscous Bowl. Service was pretty quick. My Sparkling Matcha Lemonade was so tasty and refreshing, and the Braised Short Rib & Eggplant Couscous Bowl was phenomenal. I was planning on saving half of it for later, but it was too tasty not to finish. The short rib was so soft, it fell apart without needing a knife and the roasted veggies in the couscous were fantastic. My boyfriend loved his meal as well - the House Breakfast Plate and Morning Bun pasty. Overall, Tatte never disappoints - will return for more!
Amazing is the best word to describe the food here! I had the traditional shakshuka and it was absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. I even grabbed some to-go for lunch later. The chai latte was good too--not particularly standout, but still enjoyable. The service was excellent. Every staff member I interacted with was friendly and welcoming, and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Prices were fair for the quality. Seating is first-come, first-served, so it can get a little busy. One of the employees mentioned that it's much easier to find a spot if you arrive before 11AM--which is great to know!
The cafe is spacious and the interior is nicely decorated. Very airy and bright. We came both times on a weekday and there is ample seating. The staff is also friendly and attentive. I have to be honest thought, the food was just mediocre. The egg in the hole was bland and the Jerusalem bagel was a bit too hard for my liking. The prosciutto & Parmesan scrambled egg plate was good but nothing special.
In the heart of Ridgewood, a trendy and pretty spot for a hot or cold coffee or tea and pastry, and breakfast, lunch or brunch. When you walk in, you order at the counter and then take a number to a table. We ordered the egg breakfast plate (eggs, toast, potato fritter, 2 pieces of bacon) and the spinach quiche with salad. The food felt like it could have been sitting on the counter for awhile since none of the elements were very hot. But the taste was good, especially the quiche and scrambled eggs. Their pastries were very photogenic but also pricey for the size (hence the trendy nature). There are many small tables and then a few large or medium ones. I would avoid this place on weekends and holidays when more people will venture here. On a weekday late morning, there were plenty of customers sitting with a coffee and working or chatting and enjoying a bite, but you could find a seat. There's someone who comes around to bus tables but you can also leave your plate or cup at the table. Many customers had perfectly coifed hair and were very put together, not the atmosphere that appeals to me. But many people like that. They have a small parking lot in the back but there's also paid street parking. read more

A very trendy place new in Ridgewood, apparently people used to wait an hour to get in ....? It's huge and can accommodate many, and we need to line up to order and pay before getting the order number to be seated. We were quite disappointed with the food, especially with the Croque Madame - not the usual bread loaf but in a croissant and not grilled enough. Shashuka was pretty good and the coffee (latte) was good, just that the drinks came in disposable cups instead of cups. Not sure what all the rave is about.... The dessert looked really good so maybe next time we could go for coffee and cake. read more

I was excited to finally try Tatte after hearing all the hype from its popularity in Boston and DC. The space is beautifully decorated with an open, modern ambiance that makes it feel inviting and stylish. I also appreciate that you can enter from both the front and back--small detail, but convenient. Since it's still new, the line was long, which I expected. What I didn't expect was how much the experience would fall short of expectations, especially considering the premium prices. Based on recent reviews, I'd agree that the taste and efficiency haven't quite hit the mark yet. I ordered a matcha latte and an unpictured scone. Both were fine, but nothing memorable. Hoping things improve with time, because the space and brand definitely have potential. read more
Located in Ridgewood downtown Tatte Bakery & Cafe is a sophisticated Mediterranean cafe with great coffee, pastries and brunch options. The decor is minimalistic with a bright, airy "industrial-chic" space featuring their signature white tiling, vintage light fixtures, and expansive windows flooding room with natural light. While the space is huge and also have an outdoor patio, it fills up quickly on weekends - you order at the counter, grab a table and food/drinks are brought to your table. We went on Sunday morning and ordered and simit (a sesame-crusted Jerusalem bagel), latte featured smooth micro-foam and rich espresso, and the cold brew was bold and refreshing. Will definitely recommend this place. read more
Tatte in NJ?! Yes please! After visiting the DC and Boston locations, I couldn't have been more excited for Tatte to come to Ridgewood. What an amazing addition to the neighborhood. We came for iced lattes and pastries to go which were all delicious. The service was a bit slow for the drinks but the place is huge and I would love to come back for brunch once the crowds die down a bit. It's super popular right now so be prepared to wait. The bakery has a pretty big parking lot in the back. It's lovely and we're excited to come back soon. read more
Stopped in while visiting based on recommendations from my daughters who have been and loved the coffees. Love the spaciousness of the seating area, well laid out entry and flow to peruse all of the baked goods which, look amazing and fresh even at 2:30 pm. I was only here for one thing - the seasonal tahini pumpkin latte. Unfortunately, I was advised it is a house made item and was currently not available. Also was told it was currently being made... but no offer to ask if I wanted to wait or better yet - following up with, it's being made but won't be ready today? Just a friendly tip to the managers to be mindful of... and a good idea to plan for seasonal flavors to be popular to keep up with the demand... I settled on a Honey Halva Latte instead. Service was fast and friendly and my latte was good. I would say it was worth the $6.00 pricing. Hopefully, when I am back again go visit, I'll be able to try something from the kitchen or a pastry - somewhat limited veg options - and hopefully, the seasonal options will be able to be kept on hand better. read more
I had Tattte from my trips in DC and Boston so I was excited to try it here locally. The place is huge and well decorated. I ordered latte which was great and a pistachio croissant which I thought was decent. Came here after 6PM so place was a little empty. I would like tk go again to try their brunch. read more
How do you run out of breakfast items at 1030am on a Sunday? Both items I wanted were unavailable, which left me scrambling in line to pick another item quickly. I went with the halloumi breakfast sandwich which comes with seared halloumi cheese, griddle tomatoes(plural), spinach and an egg. Apparently my sandwich was anorexic- you could see through the ONE tomato I got, I had maybe 4 spinach pieces and the halloumi cheese was a small thin slice... you would think the thing the sandwich was named for would be the star of the show but nope! Incredibly disappointing and not worth the price at all. If you're going to charge $11+ for this sandwich at least make it worth it. Not to mention, I sat outside and when they brought me my drink they could visibly see all the croissant crumbs from the previous people who ate there but they made no effort to clean it until I asked them to. When they brought me my sandwich I asked for silverware, in which the guy replied, it's a sandwich you're supposed to eat it with your hands..... I'm sorry, what?! Don't tell me how to eat MY food - Side note , I would have gotten it myself but I was dining alone with my pup so it was hard to go in and out with her. Do better. read more
I was happy to see a Tatte in NJ! Walked in on a Saturday morning and it was packed. I got the almond croissant and pistachio latte and they are both delicious. Would love to come one day for food. Saturday was busy and you seat yourself so it can be hard to ensure a table but they do have plenty of seating. If you don't like nuts or have a nut allergy I would be mindful. read more

I've been here a few times to eat in the restaurant and takeout. Take out is very easy you order it online and then you just run into the restaurant and it is in the back corner. While dining inside it can get very busy and it does get very loud so it can be hard to hear the people you are with. There are lots of different options on the menu. I've had the horseradish short rib grilled cheese, which was excellent a quiche and the BLAT. They also have lots of drinks such as refreshing, cold drinks, or coffee drinks, and so many pastries. I had almond croissant and loved it. There are so many great options here and it was a great addition to the area. read more
Tatte falls short for me in terms of food, drinks and pastries. Everything is overly sweet or too bland. Prices are high, and my three visits here have always ended in disappointment. The inside is airy and spacious, so it would be a great place to work, if you enjoy the offerings. read more
Stopped my Tatte bakery and cafe and we had an awesome meal. We got the chocolate rose pastry and the breakfast bun and both were super flavorful and fresh baked. I also got the short rib grilled cheese which came with like cranberry's on it. Everything we ate was so delicious and the cafe is beautiful inside. Service was excellent even though the cafe was packed. Highly recommend for a cute cafe date! read more
The food was fine. Nothing really stood out, but I will say the portions are good. The French toast, both the savory and sweet, is fairly bland, as is some of the other food. You stand in line to order both drinks and food, and then take a number and they bring your food. There is ample seating, but some people were waiting for tables to open up and were carrying their food around. We did go on a Sunday late morning, so that would explain the crowd. The counter staff and the staff who brought the food to the tables were efficient and friendly and prices were not out of control. read more

Tried the Pistachio Latte--first sip was great, thanks to actual chopped pistachios at the bottom. Felt like drinking a dessert. Halfway through, it turned into a full-on protein shake. Couldn't finish it. Waited 40 minutes for hot food. Kitchen was clearly backed up, and takeout orders were piling up too. Seems like the reason this place is so busy isn't because of how fast they move--unless you're ordering coffee or baked goods, expect delays. We ordered the chocolate rose pastries and a hot breakfast (two eggs, sourdough toast, bacon, and hash browns). Hash browns were solid. Everything else was fine, but nothing you can't find elsewhere in Hoboken. Verdict: worth it for the baked goods. Just don't expect a quick meal. read more

Food: 9.5/10 Drinks: 6 Classy, chic and delicious! Their pastries are one of a kind. The croissants were flaky and perfectly flavored. Ordered the Croissant Breakfast sandwich which had egg, tomato, arugula, and cheese inside. I added bacon to it additionally. Delicious! It was a little messy, but absolutely tasty. Their drinks were tasty but odd. We ordered a hot pistachio latte and a seasonal mango ginger refresher drink. In each drink, you finish your sip with crumbs in your mouth, one from the pistachio crumbs and the other was a mouthful of small pieces of ginger. I'm not sure if this is a thing, but definitely not our thing. The staff kindly switched our drink to the Summer Strawberry refresher which was 100% better. Crowded is an understatement. I stopped in on a Thursday afternoon and it was slammed like a casual Saturday brunch. Seats are first come, first serve. A man willingly asked my child to please move while seated and waited for us to finish our togo order at the counter. Due to the high demand of customers in, it may be expected that people are going to do what they can to sit. read more
