    Vanilla bean cake, 35 servings
    Kate N.

Ordered a cake for my son's christening. The cake was beautiful and tasted great, but it was enormous. I was hosting about 30 adults and went with the 12 inch, but the 15-20 serving size would have been plenty. Not the worst thing to have extra cake and an amazing value for what we received! Would definitely order again.

Everything we have tried has been outstanding, with some of our favorites being the Nutella cookie and the everything scone.

They also have a chocolate shop next door. When I walked inside of the bakery, I felt transported to a pastry shop in France. I visited on a Sunday afternoon and it was super busy. Service was quick and efficient. I ordered a latte and a scone. The scone was very delicious and fresh. My boyfriend ordered a frozen hot chocolate and a chocolate éclair. I tried a bit of the éclair and we both agreed that it was the star of the show. I normally am not a big éclair person but this one was so chocolatey and rich. It was filled with this creamy, fresh chocolate filling. I strongly dislike the store bought cream filling that they are usually piped with. We sat at one of the little tables on the sidewalk outside since the weather was nice. I will be back if I am in the area and in the mood for a sweet treat!

Cross contamination is no issue for me, as I informed them, but I need to know if there are nuts actually inside as an ingredient. One person said only one item on their dessert menu contained nuts, and when I mentioned that many contained hazelnut they seemed surprised to learn that hazelnut is in fact a tree nut. Lo and behold, the chocolate dacquoise inside the Spring dessert contained nuts and I got an anaphylactic reaction as a result and needed to take my EpiPen. The bite I had was very yummy but almost took me out so I'll still keep two stars for the baking itself. However, staff NEEDS to know what contains very common and deadly allergens.

Terrible Experience -- no customer service…read more We ordered a birthday cake from Pierre & Michele four days in advance and specifically asked for "Happy Birthday" to be written on it. During the phone order, the employee asked which location we wanted to pick it up from, and I clearly said Ridgewood. I provided my credit card information over the phone, and the employee confirmed that the cake would be ready at the Ridgewood location at 9:00 AM. I arrived at the Ridgewood location at exactly 9:00 AM, only to be told that they didn't have the cake. I then called the Upper Saddle River location, and they said they didn't have it either. The Ridgewood employee then suggested that I must have ordered it from the Elmwood Park location, even though we had clearly stated Ridgewood during the original call and had contacted the Ridgewood location. After calling Elmwood Park, I was told that I could drive there to pick it up. After already driving all the way to Ridgewood, I now had to drive another 20 minutes to Elmwood Park. When I finally arrived, the cake wasn't even ready, and I had to wait another 10 minutes. When the cake finally came out, the "Happy Birthday" message was rushed and barely readable. On top of that, a piece of chocolate decoration was missing and another part was melted. I had already paid $44 for this cake and expected much better quality. What made the experience even worse was the complete lack of customer service. I asked to speak with the manager at both locations, but was repeatedly told she wasn't available and was at another location--which was especially frustrating considering I had already been sent between multiple locations that morning. The manager was apparently on the phone with an employee at the Ridgewood location but never bothered to speak with me directly. Afterward, I called all three locations trying to reach the manager, and nobody seemed to care about resolving the situation. One employee even told me, "Gotta go." Between the confusion, wasted time, extra driving, gas, waiting, poor presentation, and lack of any effort to take responsibility, this was an extremely disappointing experience. For a birthday cake that was ordered four days in advance, this should have been a very simple order to get right. Terrible experience. The employees were not helpful, nobody took responsibility, and the quality of the cake did not match what we paid.

With such a large variety of cookies offered, the only difficulty I had was selecting six because I wanted to explore them all. As I opened the box, I was in awe as to how gigantic they truly were. Chocolate Chip: The original flavor has and will always be my personal favorite. As you can see, it is packed with dark chocolate chip morsels. Cookies N Cream Cheesecake: If you are looking for the perfect variation of a sugar cookie, you've found it. This highlight of this masterpiece is the shot of sweet cream cheese infused in its center. Confetti: This other version of the sugar cookie is loaded with sprinkles. It has a rainbow-like appearance. Rocky Road: This ice cream inspired cookie is loaded with marshmallows and chopped almonds. Think of it as a moist, warm version of the classic treat. S'mores: Why purchase marshmallow, graham cracker, and chocolate when all you need to do is buy this cookie? It is identical to the real deal and you will definitely want "s'more." Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter: If you are fan of peanut butter cups, you will admire this specialty cookie made with cocoa and packed with peanut butter chips. Be sure to turn the box on its side and follow the simple instructions about re-heating the cookies in the microwave or oven. Thank you Store Manager Chrissy for welcoming me into your shop and introducing me to a diverse selection of phenomenal treats! #ChipCity #chipcityridgewood #chocolatechip #eastridgewoodave #confetticookie #cookiesncreamcookies #darkchocolatepeanutbuttercookie #smorescookie #rockyroadcookies #6boxspecial

Chip City specializes in baking cookies with a soft, gooey center. After drooling over photos online, I decided to treat myself one night. The store is located on a main street in Ridgewood, so it's street parking only. When I walked in, I couldn't get over how cute and bright the store was. To whoever is in charge of the marketing, design, and logos... kudos to you! A sweet employee (I think her name was Chrissy?) answered all my questions and helped me out. Since I came later in the evening, I was worried there wouldn't be too many cookies available, but I was wrong. There were plenty AND they were still fresh too! They offer classic flavors as well as seasonal and artisanal ones. So many unique and creative options! They also have mini ones and thin ones (with less calories). Flavors are rotated weekly and you can check the website for the line-up. Each cookie is $5.50, but trust me... they are dense, large, and can be shared with other people. I decided on the 3 Box Special ($14.50) and got... *Italian Rainbow - MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE ONE! It's a tri colored almond cookie filled with raspberry jam and topped with dark chocolate ganache. The almond paste was so rich and the sweet jam was the perfect touch. A MUST TRY! *Chocolate Chip - A yummy classic. How could you go wrong with a brown sugar cookie with dark chocolate chips? *Fluffernutter - The description made it sound better than it tasted, so this was my least favorite out of the three. It's a vanilla sugar cookie with peanut butter chips filled with marshmallow cream. The peanut butter overpowered everything else. I feel like this would work better with a chocolate cookie. What I love about these cookies is that they don't just taste like a giant blob of sugar. You can actually appreciate and distinguish between the different flavors and ingredients. If you like crispy/crunchy cookies, you probably won't be a fan. If you enjoy cookies with a slightly crunchy exterior, but a soft, ooey, gooey (almost raw-like) interior, Chip City is for you!

We had several servers handling our order. To start, I had a hot tea with honey. The honey was an interesting consistency and was not as thick as expected. For appetizer, we split the Crispy Ddukbokki which were sweet & spicy crispy rice cakes with a side of a soft boiled egg, topped with everything seasoning. We both really enjoyed the flavor of these rice cakes. For my main course, I had the Rainbow Salad with grilled chicken. The portion was very good and all of the veggies in the salad were super fresh. The presentation was very pretty. Parking can be a bit tricky but luckily we were able to find parking on one of the side streets. Overall a cute little breakfast/brunch place in the Glen Rock downtown. It does get very busy on weekends so reservations are a must.
