Great prices. Excellent selection. Everything is delicious. One stop shop for anything you could need from a north jersey bakery!

In the search for Italian butter cookies for Christmas and Il Dolce was recommended by a close friend. We had gone on Christmas Eve and right when we arrived at the bakery there was a short line in front of the store. We had found parking on the street and waited on line. We waited about 15 minutes before it was our turn to finally enter. They limit the amount of guests to 4 at a time. Upon entering there were cases of cakes, cookies, fruit tarts, and pastries. They all looked sooo good! We were immediately welcomed by the ladies at the counter. We had ordered a variety of the butter cookies. They had sprinkles, jelly, and mini cookie sandwiches. They also had almond cookies. We had as well ordered cannolis. We were in and out of the bakery in 5 minutes with our order. The cookies were all delicious and not too sweet. My sister had enjoyed the cannolis especially the chocolate covered one. The cookies were enjoyed by my entire family and I shamelessly plugged Il Dolce to them. I will definitely be back again for those butter cookies and there were some pastries that I definitely wanted to try like the cream puff and fruit tart and tiramisu.

    St Joesphs Pastry

Ok first review of 2021. These St Joesph's pastry come from a place recommended by many. Il Dolce, I was greeted by the owner who was very nice and asked how everyone was doing (I've never been here). Very nice shop with everything stocked for the day, I was there around 9am. Both types had the same donut shaped base and he did not have the Sicilian Sfincia zeppole you see at some locations. One had an airy vanilla cream topped with a cherry but none inside and the other had a ricotta cream that was not overly sweet so you still had that little tang. The zeppoli were both fresh with no defrosted taste. Really enjoyed both but the Vanilla Cream was my favorite. I give them my recommendation. They're not to far off Route 208 so it was a 15 min drive from the Paramus area. Worth the trip. -- at Il Dolce Bakery.

Green cassata pastry with marzipan and cannoli cream

If you are nearby, and you want Italian pastries, check this place out. Some of it is pretty good. First, I came here for cassatas. They were just alright. They are round Italian pastries combining cake, cannoli cream or ricotta, orange peel, marzipan, royal icing, and a cherry on top. They are becoming very hard to find in NJ. Il Dolce carries the mini green version (Sicilian), as opposed to the white version which is dipped in royal icing (sometimes known as minne de vergine). Unfortunately, I prefer the white version. Oh well! However, the lobster tails were perfect. They were in a mini size, and the layers are crisp but not so dry that they cut your mouth (unlike the Carlos' bakery version I've had). The baba was also great. I've had great babas in Italy and bad babas in the U.S. Il Dolce does not skimp on the rum. It was just like how I had it in Naples. The cannoli cream version was a nice touch. I also got a almond-chocolate bomb - decent if you like very rich desserts and amaretto - and a napoleon pastry, which was bland, but I'm starting to think that's part of the recipe, heh.

The day of the party was too hectic so I accepted it. A week or so later, I emailed them with the attached picture and expressed how disappointed I was. The professional thing to do would have been to apologize. No response. I spent a lot of time explaining verbally and in writing what I wanted and provided a picture of the classic Winnie the pooh cake I wanted. For $180, he should have told me that he could not do specific characters. Pooh bear and piglet looked more like aardvarks or some random animals with long snouts.

Since it was our 50th wedding anniversary, I wanted the Italian rum cannoli cake I remembered for many years but could never find a bakery worth buying that type of cake from, other than lower Manhattan. I went on Yelp and found many people who loved this place and therefore I ordered the cake. Nick was great to talk to. The cake was absolutely delicious. It was just as I ordered and just as I remembered. It is the Italian rum cake, with one layer of cannoli, and one layer of yellow custard. Whipped cream and instead of nuts, we ordered chocolate sprinkles surrounding the cake. So fresh and delicious. Will come here again. From the outside the store does not look like much, but I trusted my instinct to walk in and discuss what I wanted with Nick. Thank you, Nick!

Georgian cuisine has been attracting increased attention among chefs and food enthusiasts in the U.S. for a few years. Unfortunately, the number of truly authentic establishments is small, found mostly in larger cities that are home to sizable numbers of the Eastern European and Russian diaspora. Located on River Road in Fair Lawn, my partner, some of our Yelp friends Bea, Jose, Nehal, Wei, their daughter, and I were lucky to have this hidden gem so close to home without going into Gotham and decided on lunch today. A reservation was easily made via Google Assistant. Labelled after shotis puri, the name of a traditional Georgian bread baked in a clay oven similar to a tandoor, we were greeted upon entering as first-timers at Shoti Bread House. With a cozy, casual, and welcoming vibe, we were seated immediately by the window. Their menu features a variety of traditional dishes like Khachapuri, Lobiani, and Kubdari. The star of the show is the Adjaruli, a boat-shaped bread filled with gooey cheese, butter, and a poached egg, grilled to perfection. We opted for family style and decided on Meguli (pizza), Adjaruli (boat-shaped cheese bread), Khinkali (chicken and lamb dumplings), Tabaka (roast chicken), Chicken Shish Kebab, and Chakapuli (lamb stew). Our meal started out with the Shoti. Every dish was fresh, full of authentic flavor, and made with care for authentic food. The portion was healthy, which didn't leave room for dessert, and the prices were surprisingly affordable. Friendly staff made the experience even better, especially our server, Taylor. We look forward to going back soon!

When I finally got her attention for sour cream for my daughter's khinkali she said they ran out. Hard to believe. We brought a bottle of wine as parents said it was BYOB. Wrong. Turns out they just started serving a small selection of specialty wine, so now there was a corking fee - $30 added to the bill for each!! What!?! No sign or note on the menu. I would have put the bottle back in the car if I'd known. Didn't open the wine for us or offer an ice bucket, nothing, just added to the bill. Felt ripped-off and will never return.
