We stopped here because we pass it regularly and wanted to see what they had. We immediately smelled delicious pastries and were greeted with a friendly smile. We got fresh, hot DELICIOUS monkey bread and a chocolate croissant that was the best one I have ever had. PLEASE sort out your schedule. My dad, who is on limited time because he has cancer, was so excited to visit this bakery as we used to go here when I was a kid. We left the house in traffic and the rain only to discover that their hours on Google are different than Yelp. Today is Monday. Google says closed Monday, Yelp says open til 6:30pm. I called 4x and no answer, so they're likely closed. Obviously my dad being sick and irritable is nobody else's problem, but it goes to show how much a simple detail could really affect someone's day. Lets just say it ended not great. Bobo Z Bakery is the place to go if you're near Mahwah. Their cakes are so fresh used with no artificial coloring, the baker is so sweet, the macaroons are to die for! My favorite local bakery. BoBo Z is a small but delightful bakery serving a huge variety of French pastries from croissants and pain au chocolat to freshly baked baguettes. Everything is made fresh daily in their kitchen in back. I come here a few times a month, usually for baguettes and whatever else catches my eye! Their chocolate croissants (pain au chocolat if you want to be technical) are so buttery and flaky, just what I'm looking for. My brother usually orders the almond croissant and devours it almost instantly. I do try to call in advance for the baguettes because they're such a hot commodity! Usually she sells out super early in the day and has another batch baking to be ready by mid afternoon. Sometimes I stop in and let her know how many i would like to reserve, and sometimes I'll call ahead. I love that she always makes sure to put them aside so I know they'll be there when I arrive! read more

Went there this afternoon, got mango mousse and several different kinds of bread. I would say it's the best mango mousse I ever had, not too sweat, light and airy texture and most importantly, very flavorful. And the bread is a real deal, not oily, no fancy artificial color, if you like "real bread" without all the artificial ingredients, you need to come here and try it yourself. I live more than 30mins south, but it's definitely worth the drive. read more

I needed a strawberry shortcake for one of the nurses at work. I called numerous places and they all had the gel u get inside the cake and not fresh strawberries. I spoke to Rebecca and she said she would gladly make me the cake. I brought it into work and it was devoured by everyone who said it was the freshest cake they had eaten! Honestly, the most fantastic macarons I have had locally and I've tried many in the area, the almond croissant is so delectable I could easily eat 5 of them myself without blinking. She offers the best croissants in the area, and we've been trying all the croissants around the neighboring towns and farmer's markets for a few years trying to find the right level of crispy and flaky outside, butteriness, with just the right texture and moisture inside. Up until now it was very hard to find a really GREAT croissant, and we discovered BoBo Z bakery this past October. The mini brioche was really light, fresh and fluffy. The mango mousse cake was good, also not too sweet, with a very fruity gelee that was light and satisfying -- without feeling heavy or overly sweetened. We tried this new bakery some time in November after noticing a new place had opened for cakes and macarons. The croissants are absolutely delicious and made perfectly in the Parisian style (she has plain, chocolate, and almond). We have gone back almost weekly ever since, for croissants and baguettes, also for cakes. The mango mousse, chocolate mousse, and strawberry shortcake were all really great. The "light" version of cheesecake is very tasty and delicious, made in the Japanese style so it's lighter and airier than traditional NY style. She uses less sugar than other bakeries, and we like that. She uses real butter, and makes all these cakes and pastries using traditional French methods and some specialty items also have an Asian flair (e.g., bubble tea, matcha green tea whipped cream on certain dessert tarts, etc).
