Excellent kourabeides Greek holiday cookies. I always looked forward to Easter, when my grandpop would get these from the church, along with some spanikopita. The bakery looks unremarkable, the cookies, however are not. Delicious!! It brought back memories! The ladies behind the counter are very nice. Yesterday my friend was available to join me on my ongoing quest to try as many delicious bakeries within a 45 minute radius as possible. Lately I've been focusing on bakeries with an ethnic focus and Athens Bakery certainly fit the bill. This bakery is in a part of Teaneck that had reasonable parking. The shop itself is clean and features a great selection. The owners were very nice. I committed the error of arriving to a bakery while hungry. That said, I kept my order reasonable. I had to have the spanakopita and it certainly didn't disappoint. It was still warm and I had them slice a portion off for my friend. It was so buttery and flaky and the spinach and cheese filling was deliciously moist. Truly a great snack/lunch. I saved the baklava and assorted cookies for dessert after dinner. Their baklava is wonderful! Very tender and the honey is smooth and not sickly sweet. An excellent dessert. The powdered sugar cookies were a great texture and the twist cookies are great with tea! Can't say enough about this mom and pop bakery. Haven't been here since pre COVID and it's still delicious! DON'T FORGET CASH OR CHECK ONLY!!! Superfriendly owners are the staff that assists you. Their spanokopita is second to none! Specifically came to pick it up for brothers, sister, mom and mom's 90+ year old Greek friend. They were kind to wrap each in foil to transport and gift easier. Don't forget to grab a bunch of their white Greek cookies, Kourabiedes!!! You won't regret it! Great little local shop in Teaneck. I discovered their napoleon cake and continue to order this cake for most celebrations. It's a flaky, buttery, puff pastry topped with fruit. Our church did a fundraiser and they ordered Vasilopita (our new years tradition) from Athens Bakery. We are very disappointed that it was stale. I ordered a cake for my husbands birthday. Over the phone I was given a price of $15 for a cake that feeds 5-8 people. I pick up the cake and on that day I can already see that the writing on the cake looked terrible. The woman continues to pack up the cake without showing me and asks for $20. I've been coming here for birthday cakes since we were kids. I got married in a very intimate ceremony this past month and asked them to do our cake. The owner and his wife did a beautiful job for about 30 people. The cannoli cream flavor was out of this world. Everyone loved it. I've lived in Teaneck since 1992, and I can't believe I have never stopped by Athens bakery. Thanks to to my colleagues at Holy Name Hospital, I found this little gem and met the owner, George. I have ordered cakes from him 4 times. Ive ordered the canoli and napoleon cakes, and everytime the cakes were licked clean to the icing by my family, friends and colleagues. He only accepts cash but for $30 for a sheet cake, I will gladly pay for it. He also puts aside bread and sweets everyday to give to the homeless. He's out on vacation in Greece right now, but I've already marked my calendar when he comes back on Aug. 23. Will definitely order from Athens bakery from now on. read more

Our go to cake for all occasions is the Napoleon cake from this bakery. A drug rep brought it for us for nurses week about two years ago and we've been hooked ever since. Buttery and flakey layers with whipped cream that isn't overly sweet, topped with fresh fruit and a thin layer of apricot glaze to prevent the fruits from drying out. DELICIOUS and to die for.
