I love this place! It's family run and has a genuinely Italian, welcoming feeling. I've been in the area visiting my aunt in a nursing home in Hackensack. I stop by Coffee Break a few times a week for a breakfast sandwich and a latte. So far, I only know Isabella (Bella) by name but she's a total sweetheart. I had a delicious chicken sandwich on a ciabatta roll with broccoli rabe. Last week I had some delicious home made ravioli with a sauce that was perfectly balanced and a beautiful red-orange color. Now...if I could remember to take a picture before I gobble down the food lol Highly recommended...nice atmosphere, great people, good value and much better than going to a chain or corporate run restaurant. read more

I found this place awhile ago, a woman in my town makes amazing homemade cheesecakes and recently started selling them here. Checked out the shop on Yelp and the food also looked very delicious and was on a mission to try this place out the next time I was in Hackensack. I would consider this place a gourmet Italian coffee shop. Sounds weird but it is just beyond amazing. They have pasta there for sale that I believe is imported from Italy which I decided to take home a bag for myself. They also have Italian beverages and jars of marinated vegetables they sell. I tried it out for the first time yesterday, I went in wanting this pasta and the owner was working, he told me he only does pasta specials on Wednesday but offered to whip me up something if that's what I wanted which I thought was really nice of him to offer! I didn't want him to go through all that just for one dish so I decided to try the chicken Parmesan and my husband ordered a chicken cutlet. The bread was SO FRESH and the sauce was made to perfection, I was amazed at every bite I took. I also tried my husbands chicken cutlet and it was also outstanding. We finished our meals and then decided to have some of that homemade cheesecake (which I already knew would be delicious) and some coffee. The owner was very genuine and kind and we enjoyed talking to him. Great service great food. Easily 5 star worthy and I already can not wait to return. read more

A great find 2 blocks from the NJ Courts in Hackensack. If you have jury duty (like I did) or simply in the area this is a great place to visit. I had the roasted eggplant panini and it was large and superb. They roast eggplant with a crushed garlic and some fine oil, and layer it with tomatoes and mozzarella. Super friendly staff, lots of regulars coming though. Stopped here for lunch because I had jury duty. I got an iced Americano, coffee was very tasty. For food I got a panini with prosciutto and mutz, The sandwich wasn't anything amazing but it did its trick, bread was nice and soft, wish there was little more in it (more bread than anything). My second time trying this place- coffee is so so- definitely not a high end latte. Service is the biggest reason I gave it a 2 star- An older man who was working there was rude to customers and even asked one young man to leave because he was done with his coffee. I can't say enough wonderful things about this amazing place. What a find!!! A little coffee and food cafe run by a very passionate guy of Italian decent. The food is ALL fresh and done well. Nothing outrageous or fous fous. Simple and tasty fresh food like you'd expect from an Italian farmhouse kitchen of an old fabulous grandma. I said I didn't want to eat heavy or big so surprise me with a grilled chicken and salad something. I got the most wonderfully seasoned fresh grilled chicken breast. The salad was ridiculously fresh mixed greens with marinated mixed mushrooms, marinated grilled onions and sundried tomatoes. The vinaigrette was homemade from the tastiest vinegar. I don't know what kind of vinegar it was but it had a fruity mild tang without the rough bitterness of your typical vinaigrette. To be honest it tasted like my dad's homemade sherry vinaigrette that rocks and I haven't had in years. The grilled veggie sandwich was delicious on the freshest tastiest focaccia. And that ziti and braciole. Do you see that braciole? If that doesn't look like an authentic Sunday gravy braciole then you didn't grow up in an Italian house like I did. The sauce was bright and tomatoey. But that's just the food. There is a very extensive coffee menu and while we didn't have any, no doubt it is amazing too. The vibe is fantastic. They have a friendly little seating area with seats and a sofa as well as table seating. I could go to this place to sit and eat and hang out every day! And I didn't even get to the food he sells. The guy running the place seemed pretty unenthusiastic on a Wednesday afternoon, but he wasn't a dick either. They have free Wi-Fi, and a pretty limited food menu. I can imagine this would be a good spot to study or do work if they would stay open past 5:30pm. Hospitality is 100% these people are definitely from the old country and a very loving and care about their customers had a wonderful experience and I love their coffee definitely coming here again. I got three drinks two Caramel latte is one hot one ice and I got the boccio which I wasn't too much of a fan of but they are wonderful quality is outstanding. I love the lattes and the bacio, which I learned means "kiss" in Italian- it is a heavenly cocoa and hazelnut coffee drink (and far better than anything you can get from a coffee chain). The food is so fresh and made from the heart by the chef/owner. The paninis, unique pizzas, soups, desserts, and chocolates are delicious. Also, this is a family run business where everyone is so friendly and welcoming. This coffee shop feels like home and the ambiance is lovely with nice decor. It was so roomy and cozy at the same time! The guy that made our drinks was so caring, he would check in on us a few times, but not in a creepy way lol. Also ! He put coffee ice cubes in my chai latte so it wouldn't get diluted ! The only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is because the parking is grossly expensive (parking meters are kinda confusing and $.25 for 15 mins) Also I got oat milk and that was $.75 extra, personally I wish the alternative milk wasn't extra but I also think think their prices are worth it ! Our favorite place to go when we get a little free time from the office. Family run, we really enjoy this place, and take our colleges when we get a chance. Espresso, coffee, pastries, and don't forget, their coveted lentil soup! I'm not even sure if its on the menu, it's a special order item that locals seem to know about, so we order it every time. Our favorite drink, would be The Nutellini, which drinks more like a desert but who cares, we'd kill for it. I also had the croissant with jam which was just average but it was cheap so that's a plus. Inside is relatively spacious. The only downside is the location!
