I would have given 5 Stars if not for the price. $7 for a Croissant is a bit much. Mini Chocolate Tart and Cheescake were great, definitely more value for money. If you don't mind the price, and looking for great tasting pastries and baked goods, this is definitely a good place to try.

Patis Bakery: European Artistry, American Delight! @patis_bakery New York & New Jersey Indulged in a pastry paradise at Patis Bakery @patis_bakery ! From the flaky perfection of their Dulce De Leche Kouign Amann to the heavenly Almond Croissant and vibrant Blueberry/Apricot Danish, every bite is a journey through European and American pastry bliss. Don't miss out on their savory delights - the vegetarian sandwich and potato leek soup were pure comfort. Locals can't get enough of their artisanal bread, and neither could I! Oh, and did I mention they have a fantastic selection of dairy-free treats? If you're in New Jersey or New York, make Patis Bakery @patis_bakery your next culinary adventure. Food looks great but is just ok. Service is rude and disinterested. Whenever we have ordered from Patis, the wrong food shows up.

Cafe Baires - Dulce de leche pastry and iced latte

Cafe Baires

Cafe Baires is a must visit if you're in downtown Hackensack! It's an Argentinian bakery and coffee…read morehouse serving freshly brewed espresso beverages and authentic pastries. They've only been open for a year or so, but have been very successful! I've visited a few times and have never been disappointed. The interior is cozy and chic, with Argentinian-inspired decor like navy blue accents, lush greenery, wooden tones, leather couches, and wall art of Buenos Aires. There are two floors with seating and lounge areas. It truly feels like you're in someone's comfy living room! The cafe is part of an apartment building that used to be a bank, so there are high ceilings and arched windows. The owner, Jeremias, added thoughtful touches to make the cafe a welcoming and inviting space for customers. They have free wifi, outlets, dog treats, and crayons for kids! The menu offers your classic espresso beverages as well as seasonal and specialty drinks. My all-time favorite is the dulce de leche latte. I've had it hot and iced. They both taste amazing, but I prefer it hot. The steamed milk froth is the perfect texture - silky and creamy with micro foam bubbles. They have a machine that prints out cute messages/latte art on the surface :) The drink itself has a good balance between espresso, steamed milk, and dulce de leche sauce. If you need that strong cup of coffee that will keep you energized, you came to the right spot. The espresso is bold, rich, smooth, and well balanced with the caramelized, milky sweetness of the dulce de leche. They have a variety of popular Argentinian pastries like medialunas, vigilantes, bolas, sacramentos, margarita pasteleras, empanadas, and more. Everything is baked with love, freshly made in-house, and delicious! You cannot go wrong with trying any of them. The dough is flaky, buttery, and fluffy. Nothing is overly sweet. If you're a fan of dulce de leche (caramelized milk jam), you're in the right place because many of the pastries are filled with it. And if you've never tried it before... you must!!! Don't forget to grab an empanada, especially the beef! The dough is flaky, tender, and stuffed with a ton of meat. The filling consists of ground beef, onions, bell peppers, hard-boiled eggs, and spices (cumin, paprika, oregano). The beef is juicy, savory, and seasoned with warm spices for a touch of heat. The staff are always welcoming, friendly, and personable. They have a lot of loyal/regular customers (rightfully so) and there's a genuine sense of community here. This is the type of spot that will remember your face, name, and order. It's not easy to find great customer service nowadays. Drinks crafted with care, fresh pastries, warm service, and a cozy environment? Now that's the type of cafe that I will keep coming back to over and over again. Stop by Cafe Baires if you want a taste of Argentina!

For the purpose of the class they did not have their full menu available but they did offer all participants 2 full size beverages from their menu. I had the Mora Mojito (not infused) and hands down one of the best mocktails I have every had. I also tried the Lemonade Ginger Beer which too was very refreshing. My friend had the Coquito Iced Latte and raved about it being delicious. While we did not order food....appetizers were served. They gave us chicken pinchos...not much to talk about HOWEVER they served a guayaba puff pastry that was deliousous!!!! I would recommend everyone to take a class when they are offering one. While this place is a little out of my way just to stop by for coffee, I recommend you do and I will if in the area.

Everything from the vibe to the space was full of good energy. They asked if it was our first time there and immediately recommended their favorites. I got the coquitto latte (something you don't see anywhere else), it's unlike any latte I've had before. Warm and yummy on a cold day. Now onto the food, everything we got was delicious from the empanadas to the sandwiches. You can taste that everything is made fresh and with love. The bbq chicken skewers were tender and flavorful and the El Clasico Sandwich - wow! It was cheesy, salty, sweet, all in one bite. The guava sauce on it put it over the top. Marimba cafe is definitely worth multiple visits!
