My husband and I made a repeat visit this morning and found it to be even better than our last time. We ordered a classic sausage, egg, and cheese on a roll and this time, I also wanted to investigate their bagel game. I ordered an everything bagel with veggie cream cheese and it took just a few bites to remind this newly transplanted Southerner that bagels in the Northeast are in a league of their own. Food comes out fast. We both watched admiringly from our tables as the short order cooks moved like tornados at the grill, furiously beating bowl after bowl of eggs to fulfill the counter endless string of orders. That's another thing. During the whole half hour we dined at a table, things never quieted. As soon as a table cleared, someone else would grab it right away. Over the years, I've found that when in doubt, it's best to follow the crowds. On most Saturday mornings, it seems this is the place where all the crowds in Ridgefield Park are congregating. My girlfriend was craving French toast so I set out to find a spot that we could grab some. I was coming off working the night shift so I wanted to go somewhere close to home. Java Day Cafe came up and it was really close to both of us so we decided to come here. The place is nestled in a small strip mall with other stablishments so luckily that means there's ample parking. There's also a fair amount of seating. You order at the counter and let them know if you want to take your food to go or if you'd like to dine-in. I was pretty hungry coming off a 12-hour shift so I got the Hungryman sandwich with a hash brown on the side. They have a few options as far as French toast goes and my girlfriend decided on Nutella stuffed. Our food came out rather quickly considering how busy they seemed to be. A few other parties were dining in and a good amount of people picked up takeout. My sandwich was much bigger than I anticipated but it was delicious. The various meats brought the saltiness and savory flavor I was looking for and it all paired well with the eggs and cheese. The bread it was served in had a nice crunch to it which is always appreciated. The sandwich was great but the next time I get it I have to add the SPK (salt, pepper, ketchup for you non-Jerseyans). I also tried some of my girlfriends French toast. It looked really good and I think I saw them take a picture before bringing it to our table. I'm not mad at that, as a Yelper I'm a firm follower of phone-eats-first! The French toast was delicious. It wasn't overly sweet and the bread had the all-important crunch. Walnuts also added good texture to everything. I think the only thing stopping me from rating this place 5-stars is the price. It's definitely on the pricier side. My girlfriend and I got coffees with our food and everything came out to a few bucks short of $50. Nevertheless, a very solid breakfast spot. I could see myself coming back. Came here a couple times and found this place via Yelp. I checked out the reviews, pictures and noticed the price was indicated with "$" so I had to try this place out and glad I did. Once you enter the place, it is not huge but didn't feel too cramped. The place was bright and you can see the food being cooked in front of the counter. There is a few tables for indoor dining. I've tried the bacon and egg platter which comes with home fries and toast, very solid. I also tried both the bacon, egg and cheese on a roll and sausage, egg and cheese on a roll. The bread was fresh, soft and overall really good breakfast sandwiches. As it stands, I like the sausage, egg and cheese better simply because the egg and meat ratio compared to the bread. Next time I go, I'll try the bacon, egg and cheese on a roll with EXTRA bacon. Solid Americano ($2.75) is great as well. Came here one morning before work for a breakfast sandwich. I was excited because any time I passed by in the morning , the cafe would always be crowded. I ordered a sausage,egg, & cheese on a roll. The sandwich was good overall but the egg was cooked too long for my liking. The layout is typical of any small take out bagel shop but I do think they had 1 or two tables inside. They also serve coffee and fresh pressed juices which are great as well. The cafe is located right off of Main Street so there is metered street parking and off street parking in residential areas. Lately I have been ordering breakfast from here and have no complaints! Delivery always comes quick and they have great prices with a nice selection of items for both breakfast and lunch. Bagels are fresh and delicious and I love how they actually listen when I asked for extra toasted extra cream cheese. The breakfast wraps are very good as well! My favorite drink is the Iced London Fog which is earl grey, vanilla with frothed milk- any tea lover would really enjoy it! I have been going here for years and there times where I will be MIA but when I go in the owner & staff always remembers who I am and that really makes me feel welcomed. Great place to grab bagels and coffee! Prices are reasonable and there's plenty of choices on the menu. So many omelette options that can also be served on a bagel or roll. Bagels weren't the fluffiest I've ever had but they're still fresh and delicious. I love the lox cream cheese spread! Java Day Café is generous with the chopped lox. UPDATE 2: Take out orders have improved. Past few orders were not missed and everything is more organized. But I have to say I had my first BLT at Java Day - EXCELLENT! The food preparer is great at what he does. Nothing ever tasted greasy, all good, clean construction & flavor in this BLT, breakfast, and others. And to add, no bacon I've ever had from Java Day was ever slobbering with grease or oil, just beautiful with a slight crunch and robust with flavor. But then some of those customers' orders were being filled and paid for before mine. I find out that my simple order was sitting on a knee-high shelf behind the counter. They were firm but soft and perfectly toasted. What I love most about their French toast are the browned edges. Beautiful golden brown, crispy edge without being burned. This French toast is the best I've had in years, truthfully. It was excellent! The omelet was not runny or dry. One thing I hate more than anything else are dry eggs. Their omelet was moist & firm. The home fries were great as well, in fact, so well I didn't even have to add salt to this or the omelet. All the food is made fresh on the spot so there is some waiting time, but worth it! Nothing we had tasted greasy, stale, or pre-cooked. Everything was the perfect serving size. Didn't need more as we were fully satisfied. The French toast alone was either 3 or 5 pieces and you will feel great with either one. Oh, and the prices are extremely reasonable. Support this precious local Ridgefield Park gem! It's so hard to find breakfast places close to home that serve fresh food. Let's keep Java Day around forever. So I'm glad we found Java Day. Love the spot, love the menu, not happy with the service. I've passed this place multiple times and have peeked in thinking it is such a cute little breakfast nook. Today was a nice day and I had a little time on my hands so we stopped in. My sister asked what their "7 grain Latte" was, the barista was quite offputting her response was "I don't know he just put it on the board." I can fully understand being uninformed however showing an effort to be informed goes a long way. That effort was not shown. I ordered a Chai tea latte and needed a minute to decide what I wanted for breakfast she told me she'd give me a minute... And never came back. Another person asked me after seeing me standing there what I would like to order which waz a chicken salad sandwich...they didn't have chicken salad only tuna salad. When I asked if I could add "The frenchy" ( French toast with bacon egg and cheese) I was told it would be a 20minute wait(we had already been waiting 15mins). I passed on that. I only went for the first time 03/07/20. I tried the French toast and the B4 platter. The French toast was off the hook, just tremendous! Truly one of the best French toasts I've ever had. The B4 platter was very good. My scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly, the homefries were excellent (not really even a big fan of homefries) and the bacon, sausage and Taylor ham were perfection, especially that bacon. It took them 30 min to make me a bagel with cream cheese..seriously ? The bagels are horrible-no taste at all I'm a jalapeño cream cheese lover-and I wanted to try theirs- it was disgusting! I thought they would use Fresh jalapeño? They used the pickled jar jalapeño, like you can taste the vinegar! I threw my food straight in the trash! Delicious bagels and friendly staff. I like the bagels because they are the perfect size. I mean, I love a "huge" delicious bagel too but this bagel is not that big. It's what all bagels should be.
