Bagel selection

They have a big selection of bagels, including some creative options like crème brûlée. My everything bagel was hard throughout, rather than being hard on the outside and soft on the inside. I heard the Asiago bagel was much better though. The service can be a bit slow. They take payment when your order is ready, rather than when you are done ordering, which is a little inefficient, given there is no ticketing system nor do they ask for names when you order. Most customers are on their phones while they wait, so this causes some delay.

This establishment is clean and inviting. As you enter there is a self serving coffee and tea station. The coffee was very good. I opted for the decaf which had a rich, dense flavor with a lingering pleasant after taste. They offer white sugar and the usual sugar substitutes. It would have been nice to offer brown sugar or agave. I ordered an omelet with spinach, onions, mushroom with a side of mushrooms and bacon. The bacon appeared to have been made in a microwave (soft and undercooked) the omlete was cooked to perfection. This place is worth a visit.

Delicious bagel and wonderful service here! Right off of main street so parking may be a pain but garage parking is right around the corner as well. I have been looking for a good, hearty bagel place for those special weekend breakfasts, and this place is it. With a display case full of homemade specialty cream cheeses, warm bagels, and fast service, what is not to love? I got the classic sundried tomato on a toasted everything bagel, and I must say, the herbs they put in that cream cheese had me wanting a second bagel. One thing to note is that there is a small credit card surcharge, so def bring some cash if you have any! Coffee is also self-service after you purchase a cup. A quick stop at the warm and welcoming BEC Bagels is a sure start to a good weekend.

Picked up a TooGood2Go Order on a Monday at around 3:30, and they gave us 15 bagels! There were a few Montreal-style bagels in there, which was cool because I don't know of many spots that make these. They gave us a good variety. The bagels are on the chewier side, which I'm not sure if I love. But if you're looking for a deal on bagels, this is a pretty good one.

Stopped in the other day to see what BEC Bagels is all about as I'm always in the search for A+ rated bagels where ever I go; especially in the tristate area. As we all know, having NYC in Bergen county's backyard, holds a pretty high standard for us bagel connoisseurs. While there are no shortages of places to purchase bagels in Bergen County, many of the bagels either fall flat on their face as they're not made fresh, tasteless, or just way too overpriced for "good enough" bagels. Luckily for us, BEC bagels in Hackensack, NJ does not fall in any of those categories. I knew I was in for a treat when their special for the day was "pastrami salmon bagel", which immediately peaked my interest. Actually, when I see something like this, I had to order it, which I was not disappointed in. I got a chance to talk to the owner there who was super friendly and definitely showed a passion for what he does. The bagel was fresh. It was toasted perfectly. The vegetable cream cheese was tasty. And the pastrami salmon paired well with the keepers, red onions, and tomato. I returned a few days later to actually try the bacon, egg and cheese bagel sandwiches for which their namesake is derived from (B = bacon, E = eggs, C = cheese). Again, I wasn't disappointed. I'm glad to see that with the Hackensack Renaissance. That's going on right now, is bringing in more diverse food choices, other than pizza and Colombian food (which I'm not complaining about either).Yum! Nice people, but if you are looking for a place where they will get your order right...look elsewhere. I have ordered here 10+ times and each time my order is wrong in some way. I keep going back to see if they will get my order right. Today I ordered a chicken cutlet sandwich with melted cheese and toasted bread. The cheese was cold, the bread was hard (not toasted) and they gave the smallest piece of chicken you can imagine. Not going back here again they need to do better and have their cooks follow directions because when I see the receipt they put exactly what I ordered, but the cooks never seem to follow.

First time here, and I'm sure I'll be back! Upon entering, I was promptly greeted by manager Rob, who was quick to attend to my bagel needs! Baker comes in at 4am to prepare the day's bagels! Nice variety of bagels to choose from. I've enjoyed a garlic bagel, so far, and I recommend it! Omelettes, salads, and sandwiches are available as well. Stop by and check it out!

I'm so in love with this coffee shop that I probably *WOULD* sleepwalk my way to it in the middle…read moreof the night. Sleepwalker Coffee is quickly approaching its one year anniversary at the end of the month. In less than a year, it's already become a neighborhood favorite for a much-needed caffeine fix. Once you stop by, it'll make perfect sense. It's tucked away on Bergen Street, right in the heart of Englewood. I've been here 5-6 times in the past month! The menu includes pour-overs, espresso beverages, cold brew, teas, and a limited selection of light bites like toast and pastries. Their coffee is proudly sourced from Maiden Coffee Roasters, a local roastery in Central Jersey. I've tried a good mix of their menu, so I have a solid sense of which items are hits and which are misses, based on my personal taste. HITS: *Hot Latte with flavored syrup [~$6] - These are some of the best lattes I've ever had! The espresso is aromatic, bold, and full of flavor. The steamed milk is silky and velvety with that signature frothy layer. And the ratio of espresso to milk? ON POINT! The flavored syrups enhance the coffee without overpowering it. I've tried the strawberry (fruity notes), lavender (floral notes), and caramel (toasty & buttery notes). One of my pet peeves is lattes that are *WAY* TOO SWEET. That's definitely not the case here! They use syrups made with more natural ingredients, and even make some of their flavors in-house. Every sip is perfectly balanced - smooth and rich with the right amount of sweetness. *Avocado Toast (avocado, everything seasoning, lemon pepper, & olive oil on sourdough bread) [$7] - Simple ingredients that really hit the spot for a light snack! Creamy avocado paired with savory & zesty seasonings on crispy bread? SAY LESS! *Danishes (cranberry & apricot) [$5] - My favorite pastry to have with my coffee! The dough is flaky and airy with sweet cream cheese and fresh fruit in the center! MISSES: *Iced Matcha Latte ($6.50) - I prefer my matcha earthy, bitter, and grassy. This was too sweet and milky, and the matcha flavor wasn't strong enough. *Seasonal Lattes [~$6]: ~Banana Bread [latte with banana & cinnamon syrup] ~Horchata [latte with vanilla, cinnamon, & spice] The espresso was strong in both drinks, but the flavors barely came through. The cinnamon was overpowering, so it tasted more like a cinnamon latte. So yes... the coffee is amazing and the small bites are delicious! But what really makes this coffee shop stand out is its service and atmosphere. The owner and staff are incredibly welcoming, warm, and personable. The baristas remember your face and your order, and they really know how to connect with customers. Every time I visit, they treat me like a friend :') They have a ton of regulars here and it's easy to see why! Service like this is getting harder to find, unfortunately. And the ambiance? Cozy and full of character with a genuine sense of community that makes you feel right at home! It's a laid-back spot to unwind, get some work done (free wifi +outlets!), or meet with friends. The decor is eclectic and reminds me of a stylish living room. They definitely have a "sk8r boy" vibe going on here *fire emoji* There's a small corner with books and games, vinyl records, pop culture wall art, and vintage wooden furniture. Seating is limited to 6 tables, a sofa, and a small bar along the front window. So if you pop in during peak hours, you may not be able to find a seat. If you're in the Englewood area, Sleepwalker Coffee is a must visit! Cheers to more years of success - one year down and many more to go! Remember to support your local coffee shops!

Inside is cozy, and very in theme with a global coffee type situation. Showcasing a large selection of beans, pastries and other goods. While limited, there is some seating. I was greeted immediately upon entry. I asked if they had any 'iced fluffy drinks', told the barista I wanted the 'creamiest sweetest thing they had'. I was told about Tanzanian coffee being sweeter naturally and said I'd take that. Alas, I wasn't clear enough with what I wanted during, because she started what looked like the most glorious coffee making process. Each drip emitting a luscious aroma. When I asked how she was going to 'ice it', a look of disappointment washed over her face. I hadn't made it clear that I wanted cold coffee. She started taking things out of the fridge, asked what size I wanted (no giant venti type drinks here) and poured me a cold brew maybe? There seem to be less options for iced coffee than hot. So, after all the anticipation watching and inhaling the Tanzanian stuff, I was ready to taste this chilly brew...Regrettably, it was so weak. I was overly disappointed! Thinking about it now still saddens me. I usually take coffee as more a confection than serious strong adult drink. Always light and sweet, leche con cafe even! But never has it been this bland or lacking actual coffee flavor. I'm sure the hot coffee is a contender for best in town, but not the iced. I could have gone the green mermaid place like a block away and got a tastier, larger cup. Sorta ps here, this is for the Englewood shop which is not represented here

They've only been open for a year or so, but have been very successful! I've visited a few times and have never been disappointed. The interior is cozy and chic, with Argentinian-inspired decor like navy blue accents, lush greenery, wooden tones, leather couches, and wall art of Buenos Aires. There are two floors with seating and lounge areas. It truly feels like you're in someone's comfy living room! The cafe is part of an apartment building that used to be a bank, so there are high ceilings and arched windows. The owner, Jeremias, added thoughtful touches to make the cafe a welcoming and inviting space for customers. They have free wifi, outlets, dog treats, and crayons for kids! The menu offers your classic espresso beverages as well as seasonal and specialty drinks. My all-time favorite is the dulce de leche latte. I've had it hot and iced. They both taste amazing, but I prefer it hot. The steamed milk froth is the perfect texture - silky and creamy with micro foam bubbles. They have a machine that prints out cute messages/latte art on the surface :) The drink itself has a good balance between espresso, steamed milk, and dulce de leche sauce. If you need that strong cup of coffee that will keep you energized, you came to the right spot. The espresso is bold, rich, smooth, and well balanced with the caramelized, milky sweetness of the dulce de leche. They have a variety of popular Argentinian pastries like medialunas, vigilantes, bolas, sacramentos, margarita pasteleras, empanadas, and more. Everything is baked with love, freshly made in-house, and delicious! You cannot go wrong with trying any of them. The dough is flaky, buttery, and fluffy. Nothing is overly sweet. If you're a fan of dulce de leche (caramelized milk jam), you're in the right place because many of the pastries are filled with it. And if you've never tried it before... you must!!! Don't forget to grab an empanada, especially the beef! The dough is flaky, tender, and stuffed with a ton of meat. The filling consists of ground beef, onions, bell peppers, hard-boiled eggs, and spices (cumin, paprika, oregano). The beef is juicy, savory, and seasoned with warm spices for a touch of heat. The staff are always welcoming, friendly, and personable. They have a lot of loyal/regular customers (rightfully so) and there's a genuine sense of community here. This is the type of spot that will remember your face, name, and order. It's not easy to find great customer service nowadays. Drinks crafted with care, fresh pastries, warm service, and a cozy environment? Now that's the type of cafe that I will keep coming back to over and over again. Stop by Cafe Baires if you want a taste of Argentina!

Lets start with the good, the cheese empanada was very cheese and with a lightly crispy/flaky crust. My daughter loved this! The caprese sandwich was warmed and so delicious! The chocolate mousse cup was light and airy with a crisp dark chocolate cup. One of the best mousse i have had! The cannolis my daughter loved . Now the bad... We ordered the mint lemonade for my daughter and found a bug in it ( like a fruit fly) as soon as it was brought to our table. When i took it back to the counter the lady just smiled at me and offered to replace saying she didnt "think" it was from the machine and just flying around. I told her it was unacceptable and would have been more upsetting had my daughter drank it. Then was given a light apology but thats all , which is so strange to me . Then i received the chai ( which at the counter i was informed could be made less sweet). It was overpoweringly sweet, when i took this back they said it was a premixed powder and already has the sweet mixed in ( very strange why i was told it could be adjusted then :/). Anyways, overall a nice clean place but check your drinks before drinking for sure . Loved all the food items we got though !
