Living in Hackensack... We are surprisingly limited on the amount of bagel shops that are in our area (good bagel shops too). I've been coming here for many years and I've never been disappointed. They have a good assortment of bagels and cream cheese spreads. Should. They're always busy, but they're always still accommodating. The prices could be a little bit better, but that you get the burden county. I hope it's just a common enjoy a bagel one morning and make it your way. I like a Russian pumpernickel bagel with bacon egg and vegetable cream cheese. Yum!

Everything. Everything egg. Cinnamon raisin. Plain.

Found this hidden gem during a 5-day stay in Hackensack. Bought a dozen fresh bagels to bring home for breakfast and love how we got a bakers dozen! Super helpful and friendly staff and bagels were delicious and so fresh. Lotsa varieties! The French toast bagel was divine!! And the cream cheese was so good! Fresh strawberries in the whipped cream cheese spread! Thank you!

Growing up a Foodie in NJ means you've had many, many Taylor Ham Egg & Cheese sandwiches. Although all over NJ, NY, PA, it's strictly NJ's "state food". I AM a worthy judge.... As for The Bagel Shoppe it has lots of parking and plenty of staff (at least on the weekends when I go) to keep the flow moving quickly. Besides bagels, it has a full deli for sandwiches. I've never been disappointed with their bagels, cream cheeses, or Taylor Ham Egg & Cheese sandwiches. I've seen the negative reviews, and yes, the sales help my not be the friendliest or most helpful ( some are, most are not), but I attribute it to a small work area they are crammed into behind the counter and the fact most Millennials don't want to work ( or get up early). But I say, "Who cares at a bagel chop?" It's 5 minutes of your life, not a sit down restaurant, and the sandwich is worth the wait. TIP: this sandwich is usually \ universally served on a roll, but you need at least 2 eggs if you're using a mightier bagel, so order a double egg to match up with the piles of Taylor ham and melted cheese and you're set.

Everything bagel; toasted, turkey, fresh mozzarella, tomato, mayo, oil & vinegar.

AMAZING. Fresh, fresh turkey, fresh Mozzarella, tomato's, vinegar, mayo. Made with love, 5/5 would recommend, I would come here any day. Not a fan of bagels at all, they toasted me and it was truly amazing. This is the best turkey sandwich I have ever had. PERIOD.

Boy, I gotta say I was not disappointed as soon as I walked in, I got a sense that I was definitely in the right spot. The look , feel & smell of it immediately brought me back to my cherished Jersey City roots. Everything on display looked fresh & inviting. The guy behind the counter (damn I don't recall his name) was super friendly & helpful in assisting me with my choices. Ordered the Godfather Sammy, roasted peppers, sun dried tomatoes & pulpo salad. Everything was delicious ! I travel will be back to NJ several times a year but I think I found my new "Go to spot" ! Just writing this review & thinking about my next trip up (in 3 days) has me salivating for another trip to this place. I will follow up this review with another very shortly to ensure that this wasn't just catching them on a good day but I'm pretty sure I won't be disappointed. Stay tuned & I promise to include the counter guys name as he was Aces !

When I was in there, I saw the stuffed bread. After a bit of a conversation about what was in them I opted to get two of them one with broccoli Rabe And one with mixed vegetable vegetables. Boy were we both unhappy with what we got. My boyfriend's father found his braciole and sauce to be so salty it was inedible. He likes food and he is rarely disappointed in an Italian meal. But he said it was so bad that he couldn't even eat it. He ended up throwing it away. I was equally disappointed. Maybe more so. There was no way that vegetable roll was made that day let alone any sooner than two days before. It was so stale. It was hard as a rock. And I hadn't even heated it up. I cut into it right after I brought it home. It also tasted stale. I ended up throwing it away too. Broccoli Rabe roll was a tad better. It wasn't hard as a rock. But it wasn't fresh either. It tasted meh. The only thing I was happy with are the prepackaged taralli. They were imported and were lovely. Go there for the prepackaged imported food products. Don't waste your money on the dicey homemade food experience.

Absolutely lives up to the hype!…read more The pastrami is insanely tender like melt in your mouth kind of good. The sandwich is definitely messy, but that's how you know it's done right when its packed and stacked with meat! They even hand out samples while you wait, which makes the whole experience feel welcoming (and honestly makes the wait easier).

The fries are steak fries, which I don't typically love but it worked well as a vehicle for the pastrami. The corned beef is a bit dry. We had some pierogies but these were superrrr oily. We also ordered a matzoh ball soup because I've never had it before. But the second I saw them microwave it in a plastic container, I knew I had made a mistake. It was basically just a matzoh ball in very salty chicken bouillon water. I'm sad that was my first matzoh ball soup experience but am not deterred from finding a real one elsewhere. Based on my previous visit and this one, it seems like you should just stick to a classic pastrami sandwich. It's big enough to share between two people. Next time, I'd like to dine in and eat it fresh. The sandwiches also come with a bunch of pickles, which was nice. Tip #1 - there is a parking lot but because there are so many stores and it's next to Bratek Deli, it's a nightmare. It did also happen to be Good Friday, so maybe that made it worse? I don't remember it being that bad the first time around. Tip #2 - I called ahead to place my order but still had to wait 15 minutes extra after the quoted time. They prioritize walk-in customers, so you might as well just order in store.

We ordered the meatball sandwich, the eggplant parmesan sandwich, and the chicken and rice soup. The sandwiches were incredibly tasty, with an excellent marinara sauce and great mouth feel. The bread also was amazing - I think it may have been an Aversa seeded roll. The sandwiches were huge servings, and we packed half to go. It was a cold, rainy day, so we also craved warm soup. The chicken and rice soup was probably the best I have ever had - it had a golden hue, flavorful and clear broth, and perfectly cooked rice and carrots, with just the right amount of tender white meat chicken. That soup was so delicious that we ordered another serving to go. Nick's strikes us as a family business, where they take great pride in their homemade recipes and treat everyone like family. The guy who took our order, brought our food, and interacted with us was so friendly, genuinely kind, and helpful. We also noticed that he was equally friendly to all customers. I especially appreciated the way the owner greeted everyone who enters and thanked everyone who leaves with notable warmth and small-town friendliness. The menu reads like a true diner - with all-day breakfast and brunch options, as well as standard lunch fare. We ordered a Santa Fe salad and an L.A. burger - which comes with avocado, bacon, onion, lettuce, and tomatoes. The burger was pretty standard, but having it delivered on a warm brioche bun feels a little bit special. The accompanying fries were also great - crisp and potatoey on the inside. The salad, on the other hand, was a near triumph. Served on a large platter, there was a small field of well-seasoned chicken, shredded cheddar, vegetables, avocado, pico de gallo, and - best yet - some pieces of warm, toasted pita. I even sprinkled some pieces of bacon from my burger into this salad, and wow did that take it over the top. I dug into this salad with fair gusto and would absolutely come back for it...which is saying something, since I wouldn't expect to fall in love with a salad at a diner.
