This was my first time at the Hackensack location and for a Sunday lunch it was not so busy. We got seated right away and the servers were friendly and greeted me and my friend with smiles. I went with the burger because the egg item I wanted (southern eggs Benny) didn't come with a side For the price. So I ordered this burger that was questionable. It was over-slapped with sauces and flavors that did not work. It was drowning in sauce. For four dollars more, I upgraaded to truffle fries. Eaten here more than 5 times. Some of the food is good but can be overpriced and very salty. Ice tea, which is mostly ice, is $5, waitress did not inform us that there are no refills. Spent $15 just on glasses of ice with some tea. Eggs Benedict was $21, tasted lousy. Hummus is good, but over priced. Chicken soup seems homemade but so salty. I went here before hitting a road trip and picked a matte latte with oat & a BEC (with turkey bacon.) I was thrilled to find out that this restaurant is halal. The matcha latte was okay it could be better, maybe more powder ratio to water. The BEC was really good!! And it came with a side of hash browns which was great, so crispy. I'm thoroughly impressed by how this Bite managed to make a simple takeout order extremely annoying and time consuming; this was my first and certainly last time visiting the Hackensack location. Since it was Father's Day, I did a DoorDash order for pickup. Upon arriving, I went inside and didn't see any clear indicator of where to go to retrieve pickups. There were customers ordering at a register off to the side of where they make drinks, so I stood there waiting to finally get to the front. I said I was picking up an order only to be told that they don't do order pickups there and I need to go to the front after all of that unnecessary waiting. There is a small stand by the entrance area where I did not see a half-covered sign indicating to go there for picking up orders. There was a group of people standing in front of that sign, so I never would have seen it had the barista not mentioned it. Not that this mattered at all because there was no host/hostess available; there were staff members running around and they were avoiding the entrance area like it was a bad ex. I finally went back to the barista I spoke to and asked if there's anyone working over there because nobody came by. They managed to flag down one of the workers who finally gave me my food. Mind you, there was a line of people forming behind me with no one even getting names or providing wait times to be seated. I have never seen anything like this at any eatery. I have always had great experiences visiting the Fair Lawn location, so this was beyond disappointing. This time I ordered grilled cheese on sourdough which comes with house made chips or greens making it a much better value than the tacos. The menu consists of breakfast/lunch and brunch items and a variety of coffee/tea options. They also have lunch specials where you pick an entree and it comes with 3 sides for a reasonable price.
