This place is a hit or miss. The food for the most part is good. We've had catering from here a bunch of times for work and everything arrives clean & fresh. Update! Not sure what's going on, but I'm dropping my rating from 3 stars down to 2 and that's me being generous. When ordering online for pickup, they always forget something from the order. It's happening more often now, and it's usually the same crew behind the counter. They're too busy chatting, and when customers show up, they scramble around like chickens without heads-which leads to wrong or missing items. This isn't just my experience -it's been happening to my coworkers too. This cafe is located in the lobby of my old work building at 100 Plaza Drive in Secaucus. I spent many (years)weekdays enjoying breakfast and lunch here. Your order is taken and someone prepares it for you on the grill or you can order freshly prepared meals of the day, a sandwich, or salad by the pound. The food is always fresh and there is always a big selection of healthy choices to choose from. Some days, the In Thyme cafe fills up quickly because they are one of the few cafeterias in the Office complex. Although there are many restaurants in the area to choose from, I preferred the meals here because it's a small restaurant you know who is preparing your food, the food is never frozen, you are served with the smile and the prices are reasonable. Nothing like fresh slow cooked healthy meals. While recently visiting NJ, I took my family here for breakfast. We ordered bacon, egg, and cheese on everything bagels and drank Peet's Organic coffee. It only took a few minutes to get our food and everything was delicious. We really enjoyed our breakfast and living in the south you will not find a sit down place with bagels and organic coffee for miles around. We were not able to stay for lunch during this stay but I have awesome Memories of Luis (who has been here 26yrs) preparing our meals and always serving us with a smile. If you want to get away from franchise food and you would like a "home cooked" meal or a healthy sandwich or salad, IN THYME CAFE is the place for you. read more

It is a quaint little cafe in Secaucus. They offer breakfast and lunch. The food is reasonably priced the service is good and personable. Not a lot of seating but most people take the food are on the go. I have had their sandwiches turkey, tuna, roast beef etc. They have pannini press wraps etc with a hot food line as well. OK spot for breakfast and lunch if you work in Harmon Meadow in Secaucus. Been going now for about three years. The place benefits for the fact they pretty much are one of the few cafeterias in the complex, being some buildings don't have a cafeteria of their own. Therefore, In Thyme gets a high volume of people through their doors each day. Meal prices are reasonable, if you work in the building, but if you're not in 100 Plaza they'll charge you more as a bit of an added surcharge. Food quality is good and most of the meats, ingredients, cheeses, breads and veggies are typically fresh. Good selection of drinks of different kinds: soda, juices, Bai drinks, Poland Spring, OJ, Steaz drinks, and etc. What kills me though is because they have such a high turnover rate with employees, there is never any consistency in terms of food quality or taste. Things are made the wrong way, or you get either not what you ordered or somehow what you partially ordered. It's frustrating. With all the recent hires and inside turmoil going on, it's definitely impacted how they operate and present themselves. People seem not to know how to make certain or basic meals. A lot of these workers look lost! Lines are now really backed up, and people are waiting a lot longer than usual. I mean, I only have one hour for lunch! They catered a lunch we had at work and I was pleasantly surprised to see how fresh everything was and how organized they were. All the trays were clearly marked and packaged nicely. Working in the area so I decided to stop here for a quick lunch today. The place looks fairly busy for a lunch hour and pretty clean so I was confident I would have a nice lunch. I decided on ordering the oriental salad. The menu stated the salad would come with spinach, shredded carrots, broccoli, cucumbers, edamame, and red and green bell peppers. I substituted the shrimp for chicken and that was the only change I had made. When I got to the table and opened up my salad it was chicken, spinach, A couple pieces of dried out broccoli and shredded carrots and the dressing that I had asked for on the side. When I went up to the counter when someone was done placing the order I said excuse me when you have a moment I missing some ingredients on my salad. I was ignored until The woman who had initially helped me asked what was wrong. I said I missing a bunch of ingredients on my salad. She said we don't have edamame. I said OK I said what about the cucumbers? What about the peppers? Well the cucumbers just got here... And I said what about the peppers? So I got a roll of the eyes and the ingredients that she did have tossed carelessly into my to go box. And then told me no problem. Common sense would tell you-that if there's something on the menu that you don't have half the ingredients for at the time of ordering a customer should be informed so they can choose something else if they'd like. I work in the building and I've seen this place go from great when I came over about 3 years ago to horrible. quality off the food went way down and some of them behind the counter are not knowledgeable of the food industry and REALLY SLOW. they got rid of the last head chef who ran it great and went downhill from there. the prices are reasonable , but you get what you pay for. for some reason the guys on the grill can only take.1 order at a time!!!!! go figure for short order cooks. read more
