[I'd never been to or driven through Englewood before and I'm not sure how much of an exaggeration it is when I say... there are roads in warzones in better shape than here. I strolled in and... it's much bigger than your standard Jersey deli. Immediately to the left - a wavy-shaped luncheonette counter. And with each visit there's an old-timer sitting down enjoying a Serie A match playing on the one TV. (I'm hoping one of these times it'll be AS Roma and I'm going to make his acquaintance and treat him to an espresso.) A few "island displays" (prepared meals, breads, cheeses, you name it) and then the deli counter (two guys usually 'in the weeds' with making sandwiches and platters) and a small crew of workers coming and going from the back kitchen to load up the display cases with all sorts of appetizing trays (lentil salad, breaded cauliflower, lasagna, all the "hits"). Good pricing. The squadron of workers are friendly and doing their best to keep things flowing. Incredible selection of goods. (And I appreciate when a place goes that extra step for cold cuts with an added 'layer of protective wrapping'.) Not to mention there's still a whole other section of the deli I haven't even stepped foot in... yet. Metered street parking (it's a one-way) - looks like it can get mighty hectic with (fast) traffic, too. I got to try two sandwiches at home so I'm not sure how to ambiance or service was. The food was okay. I first tried half of the chicken parm sandwich and while it was filling, the sauce was pretty sour and the chicken was dry. The ratio of meat to bread was off. There was so much meat that it was overwhelming. I then tried half of the eggplant parm and I had the same issues. While I did like that one better, it wasn't what I was expecting. read more

Englewood is filled with good food spots and this one fits right in. It looks like an italian market that serves pizza, sandwiches, and a lot of other items. The palermo was my go to and it was nicely done. They do microwave some food to heat it up which I am not the biggest fan of. I also tried the meatballs and they were good. The meat had good flavor and sauce added a nice acidity. The pizza was homemade and I will definitely try it next time. The margherita slice looked delish. Parking can be tricky but I found a spot. Great for take out and a quick bite to eat. I have only had the hot food in the back and everything has been good. Most items will run you about $8-10/lb. Besides a hot food section they have brick oven pizza, salad, a deli section, drinks and a dessert and espresso station. Very spacious, clean and tons of workers around ready and willing to help. They have a couple tables with a tv so you don't have to wait to dig in. Also parking is readily available in their lot in the back or street parking up in front and across the street. Definitely a lot cleaner than the other Italian market up the street. I would go here for the cooked meals but go to the other place for the dry goods. read more

Haven't done a mozzarella review in a few months (had 13lbs in a 2 month period). Today I stopped in at Bartolomeo's in Englewood to get my fix. The mozzarella was super creamy and moist (picked it up around 4pm) excellent. It was also very lightly salted which works perfectly on a sandwich. The store is set up for dining and have lots of prepared foods and pizza. They also know how to slice cold cuts paper thin. If you're in the area definitely stop in. read more

For a party, this place was recommended for catering. We ordered online (which we learned isn't recommended per the store) salad, pasta, and chicken dishes, and this place didn't disappoint. Besides the error in the delivery date which they didn't not fault us, the portions were plentiful and delicious! All our guests went for thirds or more! I spend waaaaaaaaay too much money in this place. I mean I order take out for breakfast every morning and lunch at least 3x a week. The coffee is bomb compared to the coffee shops in the area. I have ordered from the Hot Bar, Salad Bar and Deli, but have yet to try their pizza. My Go To's are the make it yourself salad and Colosseum sandwich/hero, which is $10 but its well worth it. One day can cost me $22-25 in there. Expensive, but you may be full enough to skip dinner. I know both the delivery guys very well. If they don't get a call from me that week they know I'm on vacation lol. read more

This is the best deli spot in the Bergen area!! Their sandwiches are packed with meat and all the workers are not only extremely welcoming, but they're knowledgeable in the cuts of meat.
