I love this deli. And now in there new location in englewood the store has expanded and has alot of prepared food such as lasagna, pastas, meatballs and that sort of thing. They even have a pizza oven with pretty good, lite pizza. Very nice assortment of cold cuts and awesome heros. Fresh deserts, cappuccino, and a salad bar. I've given one star simply because the food is good, though that is probably what they rely on to compensate for their atrocious customer service. I ordered a pizza for lunch, and two grilled chicken salads to take home for dinner ($32.00). When I got home and opened the salads, guess what was missing? If you said the grilled chicken, then you're the winner, winner chicken dinner...NOT. I did try to call them at 6:30, but my calls went to their answering machine, despite their business hours shown as being open to 7. I had to order dinner from elsewhere . The salads are in my fridge this morning, already having turned brown and wilted, and will not be edible even for lunch today, so a total waste of food. I called and spoke to a manager that offered a credit of $8.00 for the missing chicken. Not replacement salads, not a full credit either, but a $8.00 credit for the chicken alone. I declined, for the principle of it, and told them to buy themselves a nice cup of coffee and for the price of a fancy cup of coffee, they've lost a customer. I admit, I'm still miffed, and a little surprised that a deli with such a good reputation just doesn't care. read more

When I called to complain, the woman who answered the phone kept arguing with me that it was "impossible because they put cheese on when they make the eggplant in the morning." What a great find. Hubby and I were looking for sandwiches/wraps but everything near us (deli-wise) closes too early. We found Bartolomeo on yelp and were delighted by the later hours. There's parking in the back, which is great for englewood and when you walk in you're greeted by PIZZA, ITALIAN SNACKS, ITALIAN GROCERIES, GRILL FOOD, PASTA SPREADS. our minds were blown. We ordered; 2 chicken wraps, a rice ball, chicken salad and crumb cake!! Everything was delicious. Staff was super friendly and we also saw.. Sushi?!, other prepackaged food and a breakfast menu. I got the Coliseum specialty sandwich. My wife ordered the simple egg sandwich with cheese and ham (avocado extra). Both were pretty good. I couldn't finish the coliseum sandwich because it was HUUGE. Lots of fresh meat. Afterwards, I picked up fresh squeezed orange juice which was little pricey but extremely tasty. My bicycling group has been stopping at this deli as our mid ride coffee/food stop for about 8 years. Yesterday, we got to an empty store with a larger group of about 16 riders ready for a break. About 10 of us purchased something, and we sat at the tables and chatted for about 20 minutes. As we're getting ready to leave, fill our water bottles and use the restroom, the owner complained to several of us that there were 4 or 5 people that didn't purchase anything. He went so far as to not allow one person to use the restroom. Remember that there were no other customers at that time, and as a group we must have spent over $50. IMHO, this was totally uncalled for. It's painfully apparent that the owner does not want our business, so we will not be returning. I have been here quite a few times and just never got around to writing a review. That being said it wasn't because this place isn't great. This is more than just a deli and there are just so many options that it's hard to narrow down one selection for a meal. They offer pizza, sandwiches, full salad bar, wraps, wings, entrees, the list goes on. Anything I have ever had from here is always extremely fresh and tasty. I have had wraps my favorite thus far is buffalo wrap, I have also enjoyed rice balls which were amazing, and fresh sandwhiches. Each never disappointed. My wife and I have also taken home their fresh sauce and pasta to cook which were both equally amazing. If you are ever in this area this is definitely a deli worth checking out. My only complaint would be the prices which tend to be on the higher side but not anything crazy. Oh Bartolomeo how I've missed you!! Our family has been a huge fan of Bartolomeo since they were in Palisades Park (Leonia?) but I haven't been able to come to the new location until now. Great Italian deli/grocery. Everything they have is fresh and delicious. Used to be obsessed with their meatballs and arancini (rice balls) so hopefully they didn't change those when they moved. The pizza and hot foods all look great, and I like that they now have a salad area. The panini's are pretty big and they have a nice selection of regular sandwiches too. And their Italian grocery area is spot on. There's just some things you can't get anywhere else. read more

Our company orders take out from this place at least once or twice a week. The best thing I can say about the food is that it's consistently average. They don't seem to use any kind of seasonings at all on ANY of their hot dishes. This is a constant joke we always make at work. Nothing has flavor. It looks good in the tray, but just about everything we order is bland. In addition to that, I once ordered beef barley soup and there was a maggot or some kind of worm inside of it. Not very pleasant. Now, this can happen I suppose, so I overlooked it, but I don't order that soup anymore! We order weekly from a sheer lack of other places to order from. OMG! I usually travel to Hoboken's Italian Deli'....think Vito's or Biancamano's for delicious muttz and prosciutto hero's; which is a good 30 mins away from my hometown. Never knew I could get that taste right in Englewood NJ. I ordered The Guy: prosciutto, muttz, basil, and sun-dried tomatoes. I believe the price was $8-11; I don't remember but it was around there. All I remember was the moment I bit into my hero and it tasted like heaven. The bread was perfectly baked and was buttery. Keep in mind...I was going to Atlantis in 2 days and I was on a diet. I did not care; I told myself it's okay to have half of this hero as my one meal. It was so delish....and I love food. Although, I do admit the muttz doesn't reach Biancamano standards it satisfies my cravings enough and will do :) + it saves me a 30 minute drive or shall I say 1 hour with all that traffic going to Hoboken. read more

It is my first time there as a customer with my boyfriend, I read the reviews before coming to this place because of their subs. I am assuming that he is the manager or the owner took my order was very RUDE. I was not sure about the bread selection so I told him to swap it for another bread type and he was very nasty about it. I apologized for it because I know I made a mistake but as a manager, you should not huff or puff about anything. Whatever, when I bit into the sandwich the loaf was super hard. Food's OK but the owner or manager is terribly rude and is very immature. We ordered sandwiches for pickup and he questioned that what we were getting on the sandwiches as he thought it was weird. This has been upgraded substantially since my last review. The products that they sell are extremely well chosen, and the staff is really nice. Very convenient, a nice selection of items to buy to take home, from pantry staples and very good quality olive oil, to antipasta. This place is amazing! I've been working in the area for some time and have struggled to find a great place for lunch that offers a variety of options. I was overwhelmed with joy to find out about their salad bar. Honestly, the best salads they chop right in front of you. It can get pricey the more you add into your salad but they are 100% worth the money. The staff is beyond friendly. I've gotten on first name basis with a few of them. Marchelo is always super accommodating and goes the extra mile to get my order just right. I've recommended this place to so many people already. I've become a permanent customer!! Yum! This place is an Italian deli / quick food mecca! Upon entering, the pizza counter beckons with aromas of warming cheese and luscious toppings; however, I'm glad I held my ground and traveled to the deli counter. Offering deli sandwiches and wraps, specialty sandwiches, and paninis as well as sides and salads by the pound, these are the foods I grew up eating for lunch in an Italian household. I had the Tuscan panini with grilled chicken, thick slices of roasted red pepper (only subtly roasted still with plenty of crunch), melted mozzarella, and balsamic pressed between two hearty, crispy pieces of Italian bread. It was delicious, and so big I took half home - despite having been ravenously hungry. I also tried a rice ball. The thing was huge and 2-4 people could easily share one as an appetizer or side. It was soft inside, crisp outside and served with your choice of sauce or not... Get the sauce. Prices are reasonable given the portions and quality at about $8-10 for lunch. There are also lots of specialty items you can pick up for home. Cookies, pastas, loaves of bread, and other little sweet treats. Location is just up the street from the downtown which is convenient. The one downside is that there's no internet if you're doing a working lunch. read more

I order salads from here pretty frequently and the food is always delicious, even though it usually takes 1-2 hours delivery. This week I received my salad in a decent amount of time and ate about a third of it before I looked down and saw a black bug in my food. Totally disgusted I called immediately and spoke to a manager. His immediate response was "no there wasn't" and then apologized for the "inconvenience" and suggested to send me another salad. Obviously I had lost my appetite and asked for a refund for my $12 small salad. He assured me his driver was on his way with my money. No one ever showed up. This Italian deli is not only packed with authentic delicious Italian favorites but also looks very clean, spacious, and updated. My mom and I stopped by to grab a breakfast sandwich which is cooked right in front of you (egg, Taylor ham, and cheese on a roll) with coffee. My mother is huge on coffee and if she says the coffee is good then it must be. I on the other hand grabbed a strawberry-banana smoothie made with low fat yogurt and skim milk and it was soooo good and fresh! We decided to eat breakfast at the cafe bar and the service was great, very attentive staff. Since we were heading down the shore we decided to grab a sandwich to go (chicken cutlet, roasted peppers, tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, balsamic vinegar, salt & pepper). My family has been loyal to Bartolomeo for years. For a while we ordered pizza from here weekly--at times, several pizzas a week (our boys and their friends have healthy appetites)! We always had the pizza delivered and we almost always had the same, pleasant delivery guy. More recently, we have gone to the establishment to pick up sandwiches, salads, etc... Wow. An entirely different experience altogether. There is one guy in particular who is there frequently who is ICE COLD RUDE. (Not the tall, thin guy, but the other guy who is there regularly). He has a real chip on his shoulder and should NOT be in the service industry. I was there earlier today with my mother-in-law and he displayed such a bad attitude, we will probably not return. I don't want to go into the details of the interaction, just know that you have lost an entire family of faithful customers thanks to this guy's terrible attitude. read more
