Another great visit to Main Street Hackensack's Coffee Break. My companion and I enjoyed their Wednesday pasta special of pasta arrabiata. We also had an affogato and Americana. All quite yummy. Service was, as always, warm and friendly. And, the vibe was chill with coffee house holiday music. I left full and relaxed -- what more can I want from a weekday lunch?
I found this place awhile ago, a woman in my town makes amazing homemade cheesecakes and recently started selling them here. Checked out the shop on Yelp and the food also looked very delicious and was on a mission to try this place out the next time I was in Hackensack. I would consider this place a gourmet Italian coffee shop. Sounds weird but it is just beyond amazing. They have pasta there for sale that I believe is imported from Italy which I decided to take home a bag for myself. They also have Italian beverages and jars of marinated vegetables they sell. I tried it out for the first time yesterday, I went in wanting this pasta and the owner was working, he told me he only does pasta specials on Wednesday but offered to whip me up something if that's what I wanted which I thought was really nice of him to offer! I didn't want him to go through all that just for one dish so I decided to try the chicken Parmesan and my husband ordered a chicken cutlet. The bread was SO FRESH and the sauce was made to perfection, I was amazed at every bite I took. I also tried my husbands chicken cutlet and it was also outstanding. We finished our meals and then decided to have some of that homemade cheesecake (which I already knew would be delicious) and some coffee. The owner was very genuine and kind and we enjoyed talking to him. Great service great food. Easily 5 star worthy and I already can not wait to return.
A great find 2 blocks from the NJ Courts in Hackensack. If you have jury duty (like I did) or simply in the area this is a great place to visit. I had the roasted eggplant panini and it was large and superb. They roast eggplant with a crushed garlic and some fine oil, and layer it with tomatoes and mozzarella. I enjoyed their espresso while I caught up on work in a friendly quiet environment. It's obvious the owner (show in photo) puts in his all!
I was around the area and wanted to take a coffee break and found this place through Yelp. They have street parking. Once I entered in, it had a really chill and welcoming vibe. Was gonna just get a regular coffee but ended up getting the iced mochaccino. It was delish. Place is fairly priced. If your around the area and need a coffee break, this is def the spot.
I can't say enough wonderful things about this amazing place. What a find!!! A little coffee and food cafe run by a very passionate guy of Italian decent. The food is ALL fresh and done well. Nothing outrageous or fous fous. Simple and tasty fresh food like you'd expect from an Italian farmhouse kitchen of an old fabulous grandma. I said I didn't want to eat heavy or big so surprise me with a grilled chicken and salad something. I got the most wonderfully seasoned fresh grilled chicken breast. The salad was ridiculously fresh mixed greens with marinated mixed mushrooms, marinated grilled onions and sundried tomatoes. The vinaigrette was homemade from the tastiest vinegar. I don't know what kind of vinegar it was but it had a fruity mild tang without the rough bitterness of your typical vinaigrette. To be honest it tasted like my dad's homemade sherry vinaigrette that rocks and I haven't had in years. The grilled veggie sandwich was delicious on the freshest tastiest focaccia. And that ziti and braciole. Do you see that braciole? If that doesn't look like an authentic Sunday gravy braciole then you didn't grow up in an Italian house like I did. The sauce was bright and tomatoey. But that's just the food. There is a very extensive coffee menu and while we didn't have any, no doubt it is amazing too. The vibe is fantastic. They have a friendly little seating area with seats and a sofa as well as table seating. I could go to this place to sit and eat and hang out every day! And I didn't even get to the food he sells. Jars of marinated veggies and a whole host of speciality flavored panettones for Christmas. Yes I stocked up. This is a new favorite. Go. Trust me.
Hidden gem in Hackensack - lovely Italian coffee shop that serves strong, aromatic espresso, not the watery stuff you would get elsewhere. The owners are very amicable and true to their craft. The tiramisu was okay but perhaps i will try a different dessert next time. I look forward to visiting again. There's plenty of seating to converse with friends or settle down with a laptop.
I loved this cute coffee shop. There is fast wifi, plenty of seating, and great food and drink! I tried the Caprese Salad which was very fresh and tasty! The latte was also very strong and well made. It definitely tasted like the coffees I've had in Italy. The service is very relaxed and low key. I felt very welcomed and comfortable.
If you're looking to support a small business coffee shop, Coffee Break needs to be your top choice. This little cafe has quite the ambience and should be your next go-to morning spot. I got the Bacio which was very tasty and perfect for your Instagram feed. The Egg Frittata with bacon and cheese was also freshly made and a nice food option to go with my coffee. Definitely recommend if you're in the Hackensack area.
I order a coffee drink. I want to try something different which is Nutellino. This drink has a mixture of Nutella, whip cream, and espresso. This place is a good spot where you can grab a coffee and study spot for college people to come by.
Stopped by for a coffee break with my good friend, Jabriel J. It's an Italian coffee shop, with cute artsy decor and seating. Unfortunately, they close pretty early. The guy running the place seemed pretty unenthusiastic on a Wednesday afternoon, but he wasn't a dick either. They have free Wi-Fi, and a pretty limited food menu. I can imagine this would be a good spot to study or do work if they would stay open past 5:30pm. I got their Nutellino, which was basically a cup of espresso, lined with Nutella, topped with whipped cream. It was a decent drink. I like the spot

My girlfriend and I went here just for a quick bite, ended up getting the prosciutto panini and two cappuccinos. Absolutely fantastic sandwich, among the best I've ever had, and the coffee is also very very delicious. If you're Italian and you're missing the taste of home, this place is extremely authentic. Service was very quick and the prices were amazing. 10/10 will definitely be going back very soon. read more

I drink a LOT of coffee and over the course of a lifetime there have been some good and some not so good cups served to me. One sip of the house coffee told me this was an exceptional cup on coffee. Served in a real cup, it had a wonderful aroma and flavor that made me question why other coffee shops can't make this relatively simple drink to this level of perfection. Definitely worth the stop if your in need of a nice atmosphere, great coffee and equally great house made biscotti. read more

This place is phenomenal 10/10 recommend you come for the pasta and stay for the cappuccino and before you know it you are apart of the family sharing tiramisu imported from Italy. Marco, the son, welcomes each guest with open arms while his father slays the pasta in the back. read more

I was SOOO hungry and I ordered door dash to my office-never heard of this place but I figured I'd give it a go. Being 75% Italian I of course have high expectations for any so called Italian cafe-and when I saw the logo of this place had the Italian flag I said to myself "this should be good!"....big mistake. I order two iced coffees-one with oat milk (which had 2 drops of oat milk in it) and another one extra sweet and it lacked sugar...very disappointing. I also ordered cannolis and these were NOT cannolis-they were wrapped in what resembled a crunchy dog treat, not a light pastry that a cannoli should be made of. The most disappointing part was my "banana and strawberry Nutella crepe" the presentation was below a 0-it looked like the inside of a new bones diaper (refer to picture). It was sloppy and filled with globs of Nutella and you can tell it was made with no effort. Not too mention it was extremely soggy. As a fellow Italian I would stay away from this so called Italian cafe. This order was also not cheap.....I'd like a refund. Coffee break? More like coffee broke. Have a good day. read more

Convenient location, clean, cute decor (if that matters), free wi-fi, Italian-speaking owners (actually native Italians), good coffee, delicious pastries, and I can go on. Plus, Elizabeta is so cute. How can you not love this place? I originally came here in hopes to try the Nutella croissant. They didn't have any left my first visit and I was reluctant to try anything else, but (!) the pistachio croissant caught my eye only because I've never heard of one (usually you hear almond, chocolate, etc.), but not pistachio. OMG. Obsessed. I'm not a big croissant or sweets person to begin with, but holy wow - this pistachio croissant is everything. The bread itself is so fresh - slight crunch on the outside, but as soon as you bite into it, you get the buttery layers of dough... and then when you get to the middle (?!?!?) - creamy, pistachio cream - heaven. I came back today and made sure to get two. read more

I found them through my iPhone's Spotlight search for Breakfast. This place is fantastic, I met the owners and had an amazing time learning about their food and drinks. I learned that Antonio and Elisabetta are married. They are both native speakers of Italian and moved here just about a year ago. They opened Coffee Break two months ago and have been importing real Italian food and recipes, ever since. In addition, they can brew any type of coffee. They're very friendly and I encourage you to have a chat with them if you're in the area. p.s.: It's the perfect place for breakfast during Jury Duty. read more

By far, this is the best iced coffee I have ever tasted. I stopped by this little coffee shop sometime last year and got an iced coffee and a pastry. I was blown away by how good this coffee tasted, it was so rich so depth in flavor and it comes with coffee ice cubes which makes it even better. this is my new go to place when I'm looking for a really good cup of coffee and everyone here is very very nice, never had an issue. I've even suggested this place to my friends who work nearby to stop by, the coffee is that good. read more

The food is amazing & super fresh. I had the prosciutto panini and white bean soup. My boyfriend had a strawberry Nutella crepe as well, and it was delicious to say the least. The iced coffee is great and they use coffee iced cubes to maximize the beverage. The environment is great for doing work or studying. I was informed that most of the products sold are imported for Italy! Prices are affordable and definitely worth every dollar. They serve the food on cute, dainty dishes which makes you feel at home :) there are tables near outlets to charge electronics and comfy red seats as well to read. The man running the place is super friendly and very informative/confident in the food he is serving. Regulars come in all day for take out and to chat with him as they wait for their food. I will definitely come back, and I urge those who are looking for a nice affordable place to do work and eat to stop by! read more

My friend and I ended up hanging out and talking here for a couple of hours (your clue that it's a cozy spot, at least if you get the sofa seats). So I ended up eating twice. The frittata sandwiches were pretty good, as was the turkey panini. The best thing was the nutellino, that is the Nutella cappuccino. read more
Love this gem coffee shop. Spacious, artsy, great coffees and food. Cute spot for studying or just to unwind with good company, or even if you're sick of the chaos of the crowd that a Starbucks would provide. Great spot to grab a quick breakfast or lunch. A varied selection of Italian Coffees and cookies to go with a great selection of sandwiches and paninis made to order. The owner Dom is extremely friendly and courteous always willing to help navigate the menu and make suggestions. I will definitely be frequenting this charming establishment. read more

Coffee Break is an adorable coffee shop located on Main Street in Hackensack. This spot is convenient for commuters going to the NJ Transit bus station or for those taking their lunch break at the court house. Parking is limited to metered parking down the street. After looking at their menu, I decided on their caramel iced coffee. The coffee was delicious, however, it was overpowered by the caramel syrup. Coffee Break does not use pumps for their syrups so the barista poured a good amount of syrup into my iced coffee. This is not a way to provide consistency to customers. Next time, I will definitely get a non-flavored drink. Although there was way too much syrup in my drink the coffee was very good. It was a smooth iced coffee and not bitter at all. I cannot wait to come back and try something else here. Coffee break also serves a variety of food including crepes. I cannot wait to come back and try their crepes. I give Coffee Break a 4/5 because I feel that an established coffee shop should have pumps for their syrups. However my overall experience was great and I cannot wait to return. read more

My colleagues and I went over to try this newly discovered 5-starer on Yelp. I ordered Ham & Mozzarella cheese Crepe and my colleagues ordered Prosciutto topped with balsamic source. Being the first timer trying crepes with meat inside, I would say I am very impressed! read more

All the ice coffees use COFFEE ICE CUBES. It's incredible. Besides that the pastry selection is solid; excellent crepes too. The jam croissant is buttery and delicious. It's *the* spot for authentic Italian espressos, and you can sit around the shop and laze away the day like a real signore too. read more

I absolutely love their strawberry banana nutella crepe. I have not tried their coffee but I will be going back for more crepes and coffee. There is only street metered parking but I always find parking on Main st in Hackensack. Its a very cute shop and very clean. They also have Italian frozen desserts. read more
