I have heard a lot of people raving about this place so I finally went to check it out. I went on a Saturday morning around 10 and the line wasn't very long (5 min wait) and they still had plenty of items in stock. from what I understand the menu rotates each day and they are open til they sell out. presentation of the food is fantastic. donuts are made with sourdough brioche base. the result is a donut that is a little sour and not very sweet. personally not for me. chocolate croissant was REALLY good. good coffee here too. there are other savory foods and sandwiches that I didn't get a chance to try - but maybe next time! read more

Black Magic Bakehouse - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Ridgewood, New Jersey

Still amazing. Great bread. Good coffee. Amazing breakfast sandwiches. You have to go check this place out.

Get here early, and you'll be treated to some of the best sourdough you have ever had. Hands down the best whole wheat sourdough I have ever had. Lots of delicious looking donuts and cookies, (maybe in the future, they will have a Vegan sourdough doughnut, hint, hint...) I also loved learning all about the other local businesses. This business supports by staying local and seasonal with their ingredients. read more

Stopped in for a matcha one day and grabbed an everything bagel croissant--it was amazing. The matcha was decent, but the real star was the pastry. I noticed all their donuts and baked goods and knew I had to come back. Came back with my husband for chai lattes and two donuts (pumpkin and chai). The donuts? Unreal--so fresh and flavorful. The chai lattes, though, were disappointing. Definitely more of a bakery-first spot with outstanding pastries but not the place for drinks. I'll be back for the baked goods! read more

Best pastries in Bergen County. Better than most places in NYC even. The place is small and you probably won't find seating there, but it's worth it to grab and take home. read more

WOW this bakery has it down. everything from the brioche donuts to the olympic chocolate muffin and the foccacia bread was delicious. I got a vanilla glazed donut, a cinnamon vanilla crueller, chocolate muffin, and everything bagel donut which was out of this world 10/10. read more

Love Black Magic! Their rotation of new and creative baked goods always have us coming back for more! People rave about the cinnamon buns, but in my opinion those are just the beginning and you shouldn't get bogged down there... The blueberry lemon crumb donut has been my recent favorite, but I'm always excited for their next surprise! read more

I only gave this place three stars because it really is mediocre. I don't know what these other reviewers are talking about..." if you haven't been then you have too" "it's officially my new place" etc etc. I went there my first time yesterday. Nice little spot on the corner. Decor had direct relations to a bake shop. Obviously because of social media this place had a line backed up onto the sidewalk. Spent maybe $40 on five different pastries. They tasted good but nothing special at all. I felt like I was eating pastries from shop rite but overpaid for them. One thing I definitely didn't like was that they had premade sandwiches sitting on top of the counter right where people would stand and wait. I mean inches from peoples faces. That didn't sit well with me sanitary wise. One cough would have contaminated the entire tray. Keep the sandwiches behind the glass. Not sitting at room temperature. Give it a try but I wouldn't go back. read more

Very good baked goods and coffee. We had the breakfast sandwich with bacon, the Cinnamon Babka (sp?) and pistachio donut. All were very tasty especially the Babka. Their donuts are light and fluffy (more "bready" if you will) so know that going in. The sandwich was very flavorful and freshly prepared (everything was very fresh). The coffee was tasty as well - obviously they are more of a bakery than a coffee shop but still good. Service was good but I could imagine that place gets very busy on the weekends and it's very tight inside. Only downside was there wasn't much seating / ambience to be had, so a bit underwhelming from a vibing standpoint. Would certainly go back to try some of the other items. read more

Lovely place. Staff is polite and always smiling. Options are few but that is because everything is fresh. They are closed Monday through Wednesday. They are open until they sell out. Came here on a Thursday at 10am with stuff sold out already. The focaccia sandwiches are a must. Will keep coming hoping to snag some of the other sold out stuff. read more

Been here a few times, everything is always so yummy & fresh! My favorite each time is the chai swirlie. Service is always friendly and efficient as well. read more

Amazing every time!!! My favorite bakery with the most unique seasonal menu I love their matcha also!

This is such a cute cafe. The brown sugar latte was delicious and the baked goods are worth the hype. I had the egg Sammy and would get it again. The black and white donut was solid but a little too sweet for my taste. read more

I stumbled upon Black Magic Bakehouse via Instagram, and their awesome social media stories lured me right there. This place is adorable, and their food is top notch delicious. I can't wait to go back and sample more of the unique items on their menu. I love a good donut, and theirs are amazing. The matcha donut was great, but the banana chai custard filled donut was out of this world!! I also tried a chai scone, a garlic herb biscuit, and a laminated pretzel (I couldn't NOT buy them, so my husband and I ate them with lunch and dinner). Even their iced coffee is excellent. I hope they can do well in a town that already has a bustling bakery market, because I'm definitely going back here again and again. read more

Sweet, savory and even barista treats. Her very unique flavors and and attention to detail make this bakery one of a kind. My favorite was the savory homeade Focaccia with smoked lox, herbed cream cheese, thinly sliced cucumber, red onion, capers and a hint of lemon! OMG words do this no justice! Their delicious doughnuts, scones and sourdough bread are hands down the best around!!! Stop by for a treat but be sure to get there early before they sell out! Great location - I like that it's on the west side of Ridgewood because it isn't as busy here. The inside is small but has plenty of seating. The coffee itself is decent - it's pretty bitter or burnt but you can add sugar or syrup to sweeten it. The reason why I gave 3 stars is because of the pricing - the drinks and pastries are reasonably priced but the prices of the sandwiches are outrageous - $18. That's almost the price of an entree at a sit-down restaurant. I understand that they are quite big, but I still think they could lower the price. It is very easy to hit the $20 mark here. Overall, aside from the location and ambiance, this place is adequate. read more

This place is awesome. The focaccia is outstanding! Everything I have had so far has been excellent. The service can be a bit slow so the line can get very long. Even if the line does not seem long, it can take forever. Place has a cool vibe and overall looks nice inside, although it is small. My one tip is if you plan to buy donuts, they need to be eaten the same day. They get stale very fast. read more

Really cute delicious spot. I'd highly recommend this Bakehouse to anyone who wants some delicious goods!!! Cute aesthetics and great food/treats! read more

Best pastries you can get in ridgewood!!! And their coffee and drinks are amazing as well. It's so well decorated inside and there's cute outside seating as well. Love this place :) read more

This bakery is truly a breath of fresh air to the very outdated food scene in Ridgewood. It has a constantly rotating menu with some of the most interesting and creative baked goods I've seen on this side of the Hudson. Some of the best focaccia I've ever had here, and to think they make sandwiches with it! In addition I was able to try the triple creme roll and it was like a reverse engineered honeybun. I was a big fan of its balanced sweetness and softness. I've already come to this bakery twice and I'll certainly be back again, especially to try the Everything Bagel Donut that's stuffed with savory cream cheese. read more

Amazing. Loved the gingerbread cinnies and the carrot cake. I went to get a coffee and a small pastry but selection was so good that I couldn't help but get an assortment of pastries. Exceeded my expectations. read more

Have you ever wondered where to find heaven on earth?!! Well look no friggin' further because here it is! I have been to Black Magic too many times and have no plans to stop. Fucking mouth watering. And that raspberry early grey tea?!?! Ooooo baby! read more

I love supporting small business and this is one of them! i got two different donuts and the hazelnut cruffin and they were all delicious! you could tell it was all high quality! the employee serving me was so nice and was very helpful; the service was fast. inside it was so pretty and inviting and warm; definitely can't wait to go back! read more

Second trip from NY and won't be our last. Bring your appetite, patience and shopping bags since you're going to want everything. The cozy atmosphere and open kitchen are inviting. The wonderfully courteous and chill crew do their best to assist with several "add-ons" amidst the chaos of an ever present crowd of waiting customers (get there close to open to avoid). Absolutely worth any wait time, this lady kills it read more

I am so not a desert person , but I am now. Hands down my new favorite spot to pick up dessert and bring pastries to a party. The everything bagel donut with cream cheese was so different and tasty I was shocked by the creativity. Orange marmalade , I would slather that on a a piece of cement and it would taste great. I personally love the sourdough being the base of most of the pastries. Great coffee. Place is adorable , walk in friendly and I took my girlfriend on our second coffee date there :) worth it. read more

First off let's start by addressing the negative review people. Your reviews should be left off of all social media platforms. The baked goods at this place are absolutely off the charts. I basically ordered one of everything today and nothing disappointed. The star of the show was the sour dough loaf! I love supporting budding entrepreneurs and this location I will continue to support. As fas as someone saying it was too busy or unorganized I have 2 recommendations. 1) go to the place no one else goes to, and 2) work a day in the life of somerun running a super busy bakery so you can get some perspective on how difficult it can be. read more

Donuts are the worst I've ever had! The inside is like pizza dough, and the filing is gross. Also, the chocolate chip cookie crumbled apart in the bag. Not fresh! read more

My only complaint is that this wonderful bakehouse is not open every day ! Lol ! I have had the pleasure of trying many goodies here and I have loved them all , from the amazing almond and fruit tart , chocolate chip cookies ( my fave) donuts filled with extraordinary fillings , focaccia and of course the sourdough bread . The owner & staff are so nice and accommodating. Do yourself a favor and go check it out , you will not be disappointed! read more
