Ok as a born and raised New Yawker..we know pizza...we lived on it weekly. This pizza needs some more love. The dough is chewey, Soft, undercooked & tastless. Sauce was bland and pepperoni was stale. This was my first visit to Sal's Pizza. It was a Saturday at 4pm. I wasn't sure the place was open since I spotted most of the chairs on top on the tables through the window. I ordered a plain slice and the eggplant parm sandwich. I received my slice first and it was HOT. I then received my sandwich and it was HOT. I enjoyed my meal while watching the Yankees baseball game on the television. The sandwich was huge and I'm glad I was given a fork to fish after the pieces that happened to escape. Easily my favorite pizza in the RAMSEY area (or anywhere). The dough is made fresh daily and tastes like a nice Italian bread. The chunk sausage is the best I have had on any pizza! The red sauce and the mozzarella cheese used on the pies is just so good. Put it all together and it makes for a great pizza! read more

Sal's is my go to spot when I want pizza and I don't want to drive far to get any. I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 because the way the pizza is cooked can be hit or miss. Sometimes it's very undercooked. Then the other times it's cooked to perfection where the cheese is slightly brown on top and the crust is just the right consistency. Still very yummy! This place is strange. Never more than another customer in it but they must do business because it's been around for years. As for personality, the owner is passable, but the other guy that's always there is downright miserable. Half the time he and the owner are arguing. Go in today and only the miserable guy is there. I ask if he has sausage because half the time they say they don't have any sausage and he says "sausage what". I say sausage slices and he says no slices now, I can make a pie. He clearly was not offering to make a pie to give me slices, he wanted me to buy a whole pie. Doesn't the normal pizza owner say I'm sorry I have no slices right now to give you but if you wait 10 minutes I'll make a pie and give you slices from that pie? Excellent choice for pizza in Ramsey. I like the off street parking in the back. They're pretty quick and are very friendly. To get to the other places in Ramsey you have to go through the middle of town. This place is at the edge of the downtown and very convenient. The food and prices are good. read more

I hate to write this review because we want to spread the wealth around Ramsey but we have been so disapointed by Sal's food. We have tried several times now their cheese pizza and the buffalo chicken sandwich w/blue cheese dressing just this Sunday evening. My husband & 13 year old son and myself found the crust to be so tough and chewy. My jaw was actually hurting after eating my slice, The dough was also somewhat under cooked. The chicken seemed to be not freshly cooked kinda like it had been sitting around and it was on the stingy size in portion with mostly a large hero of bread . I'm not sure what's going on there? We have tried it now several times. We will continue to order from Kings in Ramsey. read more
