Last evening I hosted a dinner for 5 guests, one of whom did not know I had invited 3 "surprise guests" for this birthday dinner. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with "Welcome home" and seated. Bobby was our waiter and he was knowledgeable, polite, and offered my guests choices and recommendations on our orders. And in true Savini tradition, our Specials Menu had been prepared with a Happy Birthday notation on top of the page for my special guest! The Filet Mignon Crostini, a special on the menu, was fantastic! Each of our entrees was perfectly prepared and delicious. Desserts were also wonderful. They truly treat you like family the moment you walk through the door, and I couldn't imagine celebrating my 40th birthday anywhere else. The service was, as always, impeccable. And the food? It's consistently fantastic. Once a residential home, Savini has transformed into an upscale solid Italian restaurant well-known for their fresh steak and chicken dishes. Upon arrival, one is greeted by valet staff who parked our vehicles. Upon entering the foyer, we were further greeted by the host and shown to our linen-covered table. A 2-page menu offered classic Northern Italian and American cuisine, with a variety of options available as well as today's special. We ordered number of appetizers from caprese salad, house salad, eggplant rolitini, calamari and few others to share for the large group and everything was delicious. For mains I chose half portion of the gnocchi in tomato sauce with pesto and the other half in their Fra Diavolo sauce. Both sauces were outstanding. The gnocchi were out of this world. It was one of the best things my taste buds ever tasted. I cannot wait to return to eat that again! The sauces were made it perfection. Wasn't too spicy it was just fantastic! To end the meal I had a crème brûlée. While not the best one I've had, it was an adequate end to an otherwise perfect meal. All dishes were beautifully served and cooked to perfection. The prices were not cheap, but we got value for our money. The servers were friendly and informative. The host went around to the table, making sure it was to our liking. We made reservations for a milestone birthday. The specials menu they gave us was personalized with the birthday person's name - very nice touch! The calamari was probably the best I've had in a while. The main courses were good & plentiful. My real issue is the bar / lack of cocktail menu. They will make anything you want but when I asked for a cucumber mint vodka with club soda... it was al club soda. No sprig or mint or sliced cucumber either. One person ordered a Bloody Mary and they put a lemon wedge with it?! If you're going to charge close to $20 a drink, don't be lazy!! I then ordered a Moscow mule which was better but still frustrated about the other drinks. The upstairs was nice and not too noisy whereas downstairs is noisier and the ceilings are very low. read more

Went to Savini for Mother's Day dinner. Heard so much about this place and finally tried it. The restaurant met all expectations. Food was delicious, service was on point and professional, and by today's standards I found it to be reasonable especially for Mother's Day. The appetizers, pastas, entrees, and desserts were not only delicious, but also plentiful. A long awaited trip to Savini will now be met by more frequent visits. read more

This upscale yet charmingly old-fashioned restaurant exceeded our expectations. We made reservations for a Wednesday evening and were seated immediately, which was a pleasant start. The bar area, complete with high-top tables, was an unexpected but lovely feature. Our party of seven began with the calamari appetizer and meatballs, both of which were delicious. For our entrées, we enjoyed the special seafood fettuccine, penne, and several perfectly cooked filet mignons. Desserts were equally delightful, with tiramisu, assorted ice creams, tartufo and sorbets rounding out the meal. Our server, Stephanie, provided decent service throughout the evening. she was just OK. Didn't really check in to see if we were OK but we assumed she was busy. Although there's no designated kids' menu, our children were more than satisfied sharing entrees and enjoying a few side dishes. When we took my son to his first "fancy" dinner, we chose Savini. And I am glad that we did. Our waiter did a great job and was superb with my son. Definitely helped! The tables have a fairly intimate setting as the restaurant is a bit dimly lit. Definitely created a relaxed vibe. It helped that the bar absolutely nailed my espresso martini. We shard a meatball appetizer. That was not just delicious, it was an experience. One that you should have too! My entrée was chicken in a white wine sauce that was quite good with sides that were excellent. You can tell that the chefs put a lot of care into the meal. I would love to eat here again. read more

Very disappointed. After more than 20 years of loyal business--from corporate events to family celebrations--the service and food have steadily declined over the past year. This experience was the final straw. I stopped by to confirm my birthday party details and learned it had been double-booked, with the restaurant choosing a larger party instead--no call, no courtesy. With less than four weeks' notice, we are now scrambling to find another location. Fortunately, there are better options in town. Their loss--we will not be returning. read more

Service was good and the waitress was attentive to our child's allergy. The only short coming was there is no cocktail menu so you kind of have to know what you want. read more

Had a wonderful time celebrating my husband's birthday here! They printed a custom menu specially for his birthday which is such a nice touch. My husband and I came here a few years ago and he always says how he had the best filet mignon ever here and after many other attempts to find one better I gave up and brought him back where he confirmed it's still the best steak he's ever had. I tried monk fish which is delicious and it had a nice sauce with it. We also got some dessert and a glass of red wine and an espresso martini for him! Five of us returned for dinner with a 630 reservation on Friday night. As we were escorted up to the second floor, the ambience is exemplified with each quieting footstep. All the tables were lit with candles and some holiday decorations were on the walls. As soon as we were seated, and basket of hot rolls was presented to our table as a water glasses were filled, and our waitress asked us if we would like to order drinks. A couple ordered wine, one ordered a bloody Mary and I settled for just water at the time. We ordered some shared appetizers for the table which included meatballs, eggplant rollotine and Fried calamari. Among the entrées were New York strip steak with mashed potatoes, Veal scallopini with mushrooms, a fish special and shrimp Fra Diavolo with linguine. With the carpeting and low ceiling on the second floor, it is a very relaxing quiet where you can enjoy conversing with one another. Came here on a holiday weekend so it was quiet which was great. I was not a fan of the decor , I felt that for the prices they charge it should be a little bit more up to date. I hate when I see carpeting in restaurants, it just always seems dated and dirty to me (not that this place was dirty because it was not) We placed our order and started in on the bread basket. It was nice and toasty which is exactly how I like it! I would have preferred some olive oil to dip instead of butter but not the end of the world. We were waiting for awhile and started to get antsy. Finally the waiter came with two complimentary salads because he stated something had gone wrong with the ticket machine . It was no big deal things happen and at least they gave us the salads to hold us over. I had the salmon in mustard sauce, it was ok but nothing amazing kind of bland. The mashed potatoes it came with were really good though and so were the string beans. My mom really liked her chickens dish but I have to say for the cost the portions were a bit on the small side. I would give this place another try but it's not somewhere I would be in a rush to go back to. I did see a pasta dish on the menu that sounded interesting so maybe next visit that will reel me in! For the first year in six years, we decided to go out for Valentine's Day in this restaurant, blew it out of the water. The beef carpaccio and seafood salad were so fresh and delicious then followed with Gorgonzola crusted filet mignon and jumbo shrimp fettuccine the meal was perfect the server was attentive and didn't rush us and the place was nicely decorated, we sat on the second floor which was cozy. Stopped in for dinner with colleagues while on a work trip. The restaurant operates as upscale, with required valet parking, white table cloths, and staff in white button-up shirts and black pants. It's very much the traditional Jersey Italian dining experience. The wine-by-the-glass menu is small, but they had several options. We started with the stuffed figs and lemon oysters from the specials menu. They were delicious. I also ordered the seafood linguini (linguini pescatore) in marinara, which was decent. What can I say about one of my favorite places. We are back for a birthday dinner for Marissa and Andrew. Everything from the service to the drinks to the food is spectacular. The special Asian pears was fantastic. The calamari was light and tender. Oysters cold and refreshing. The tuna poke bowl was something different and we all loved it. 2 in our party had the pappardelle spec that was spectacular. Sandra had the Florida Red Snapper Marechiara, such great flavor. Andrew had Mezzo Rigatoni Bolognese and he loved it. I had shrimp savini over pasta. Maybe one of my favorite pasta dishes ever. Service is impeccable and friendly always. It was so nice to see all our old friends at Savini...same staff has worked here for years and we missed celebrating our special occasions with them. I love Savini's and come here a lot. I can say that I only order off the specials menu and haven't tasted anything on the regular. Our visit 2 weeks ago was under then tent, which is now (unfortunately) closed. I got the split pea soup and filet mignon on crostini. The filet was probably better as an appetizer but it was delicious. My mom had the oysters for an appetizer seafood pasta special for her entree , and normally eats only small portion I knew it was good because she devoured every bite.
