Dined here last evening/late afternoon on a beautiful warm NJ fall day. We had called to get a reservation for around 5:30pm but they could only fit us in at 4:30pm. When we arrived and were seated in their outdoor tent I realized why they were so exact- because they truly take social distancing to the limit. There were several tables open through out the space to allow patrons to feel comfortable. Temp screen done upon arrival and a nice toasty heater if needed and both sides of tent completely open. Our waiter was fantastic. Totally on point and so buttoned up and friendly. We started with fried calamari which was pretty good. Very tender but unfortunately lacking tentacles which we love. The star of our meals were a few of the specials. The endive salad, lamb, duck and halibut. Everything was cooked to perfection. The lamb perfectly beautifully pink. The fish flaky and so flavorful and the duck crispy. I can't say one bad thing. Just a fantastic meal with fantastic company. read more

The Tortellini Savini is amazing and the risotto special with the black truffle is phenomenal. I usually get it as a side with my entree--EVERY TIME it's available!!! Getting a martini? I recommend their stuffed olives. Sal will welcome you home and the hard working, attentive staff will take such great care of you! My company has also had their holiday dinner here for over 15 years--you get a private bar upstairs! It's great. I've gone for my birthday too, the last few years, and you get a specialized birthday menu! There are so many appetizers to choose from, the salads, pastas and entrees (of which I've seen a lot) are always so delicious (yay Chef!), they have fun specials most nights and the varied desserts are a delicious way to end the meal! You can't go wrong with whatever you choose. I cannot believe it took me this long to write this review because I have been so truly glad, for so many years, that Savini exists!!! read more

Let me start by saying the wait staff is amazing. I was recently there for a birthday party with 12 folks. We were seated in the outdoor tent. The inside bar was extremely crowded, not a mask in sight and I'm not even a mask person but I have to say everyone there acted like Covid doesn't exist. Not one staff member was masked either. Patrons at the bar were extremely rude and you could tell the staff catered to the "regulars". Some nasty Karen at the table behind where we were standing asked the staff to have us removed as we were "in their way". Not a big deal as we were heading outside to the table anyway but it just shows the entitled types the restaurant attracts. All of the food was very good to excellent though the filet mignon ordered medium was very undercooked, less than rare and raw in the middle. There was a heavy rain storm and due to the pitch on the parking lot the tent is on there were streams of water running under the table soaking the feet of the people at our table. My beautiful leather Ugg's are now ruined from it. Overall a good meal and great staff but the patrons can be jerks. Definitely a wealthy crowd that looks down on regular folks and feels that they own the place. read more

We visit family in Allendale at least once a year, and I don't know if we return to see them or dine at Savini's. We moved to TN, and they don't know what excellent Italian food is. The menu is FANTASTIC, and the food is DELICIOUS. Last night, I enjoyed Escargot prepared in a way I didn't remember. 13 snails, 3 placed on a croissant square with a sauce that set everything off perfectly. I used to think six snails in a special bowl with six hollows full of drawn butter was the only way to enjoy them, but this had that tradition beat. My main course was even better. I ordered the scallop entree. Living so far from the ocean, we can't get fresh scallops, and usually 3-4 small ones. I don't remember if there were 6 or 8 on my plate, but they were large and moist. I might have liked another 60 seconds on each side and some garlic accent, but they were mouth-watering. We'll be back! read more

The food here is better than adequate but not stellar. The service is very good as is the ambiance. In my opinion there are better Italian restaurants in Midland Park, Ridgewood, and Wyckoff. I do t get the hype read more

Came for a birthday dinner. Our table was in a corner by the bar. For us, it was alright but I could understand if someone wouldn't want to be in that room, because the foot traffic by the bar can be a bit loud. Ordered a martini to start, and this was my only complaint. Wasn't a very good one. Should've stuck with wine. Because the food was great. Started with beef carpaccio, over greens, shaved parmigiano cheese with a creamy mustard vinaigrette. Very good. For my entree, I ordered special of the night which was homemade pasta with short rib. Perfectly cooked, and good portion as well. Savini was a great time, and I'll be back for sure. read more

My boyfriend and I ate here for the first time last night. We dine out frequently and assumed this would be your typical mediocre Italian spot. Wellll....the food was OUTSTANDING. Both of us were really blown away at how flavorful everything was! We had clams oreganata, rigatoni, Bolognese, and the linguine Pescatore. Each bite was more delicious than the next! Some of the best sauces we've ever had! And out server Julia was knowledgeable, attentive and professional. I can't wait to go back and try the stuff, avocado, the salmon and the gnocchi. I had such a hard time choosing but now that I know how amazing the food is I'd feel safe ordering anything here. Deeeelissshhh!! read more

I went here for Mother's Day! Let me just say this is the best Italian restaurant I have ever been too. The service was top tier. The food was absolutely incredible. The service was amazing and people were so friendly. My family and I sat under the huge tent. It was so beautiful underneath there with all the beautiful plants was such a nice touch. The heater in the tent was such a great touch because it was a little cooler since it was the evening time. I got the rack of lamb and a great salad with strawberry's and Gorgonzola and perfectly cooked al dente pasta with a prosciutto and onion tomato sauce. It was too die for!! The lamb chops was perfect, it was not grainy at all which was such a plus. I can't wait to come back here and enjoy a wonderful experience again. read more

Very nice experience! Not flawless, but overall really nice! Came here for my birthday dinner - beautiful atmosphere- really pretty and romantic, intimate feel to the whole place. Valet was really friendly and professional. We made a 7:30 reservation and our table wasn't ready upon arrival so we ended up sitting at the bar to wait. The hostess was extremely kind and apologetic about it. Our server at the bar ended up being our server for the evening and he was excellent - really friendly and personable - very much enjoyed having him as our server. Had a couple glasses of the rose wine - SOO good!! Had fried calamari for appetizer - very good, not the best I've ever had, but enjoyed it nonetheless. The wait between the appetizer and the main dish was quite long - a little too long. Husband ordered skirt steak - finished all of it. I had the salmon Dijon - it was good, not excellent, but I enjoyed it for the most part and would have finished it but was so stuffed from the appetizer and bread already. Wanted to have dessert but was too full. I would absolutely recommend this place, and would definitely come back and try other dishes as well. The "flow" of the evening wasn't seamless but I really feel that the hospitality made up for those little hiccups because the entire staff was truly awesome! Excellent meal in a fine restaurant. The food was done to perfection and nothing was overly spiced or greasy. The friend calamari was especially light and crunchy and the sauce was as good as any fine Italian restaurant. I found the pricing to be slightly more reasonable than I expected for a restaurant like this. All in all, this is a go to place for special occasions, date night, and family meals. read more

We went to this restaurant on Thanksgiving, at over $60 per person ( drinks excluded ) we expected much more. The food was good, nothing special, the service was lacking , seating was a little tight. My wife's meal came out wrong, so we told the server who did nothing to correct it. Than the server brings out coffee and spills the cream all over my wife's coat and down my back. All the server was concerned about was cleaning up the floor and again nothing was offered. We had to go back to the restaurant the next day and ask the manager to at least pay for the dry cleaning bill, which he said they would. It took over 2 weeks and several phone calls to finally get reimbursed. Our total bill for 3 adults was over $300, definitely a disappointing Thanksgiving. I was here for a group dinner the night before an offsite meeting for work. It's a pretty nice restaurant, with valet parking and coat check when you first walk in. My colleagues were at the bar when I first arrived, but we soon made our way to our table. We started off with a few appetizers, which were all very good. This included some charcuterie, calamari, and meatballs. There was also some bread and other things to munch on while waiting, and the red wine I got tasted good. For dinner, I ordered the bronzino, which was light but not all that flavorful. Fortunately, the sides it came with added more flavor. I prefer bronzino cooked whole with crispy skin, but here they serve it as a filet. Together, though, the meal was tasty. Overall, a nice ambiance and good food, though I enjoyed the starters more than my main course. read more

This is my go to place for dinner, lunch on the weekends, and all of my special occasions. We enjoy holidays there, I just had my daughters baby shower there, and we have held the gamut of occasions at Savini. They are also very nice and expert at firing all the meals at once so everyone has their meal at the same time. My favorite place in Bergen County. read more

The sauce is really good. I love that you can get half plates of the different pasta dishes which is still a lot of food and probably perfect as a meal on its own. I paired it with the meatballs and had dinner for the next day too. Service was extra attentive. Not the best Italian I've ever had but still decent. read more

I've been wanting to sine here for years after haring all the good things about this place. Authentic Italian cooking with a unpretentious upscale atmosphere. The smells as you walk in are Foodie Heaven. Top notch wine list that is priced fair. It is not as stuffy as a few other Bergen County Italian places I've dined at. Located in a charming old home, run by the same owner for years. large parking lot with valet ( if desired). We went on Thanksgiving Eve so you know the place was full. The bar was lively and serviced by pro's who kept everyone happy. You can eat at the bar or tables there in the lounge area, or in one of 5 dining rooms. Seats a total of 275, so it's a very nice option for a special party. (Anyone remember the Villa Cesar in Hillsdale, NJ? It reminded me of that place in many ways.) so this leads us up to...............THE FOOD! Excellent menu for many classical options. The 6 of us really had a hard time picking our items, everything sounded so good. Apps: -Caprese salads ( mozzarella, fresh juicy tomato slices, basil) were above par as far as this standard is concerned. -Fried Calamari & sauce cooked to perfection. (note: pastas come in 1\2 orders for apps, or full orders for entrees) -Home made gnocci (those pillow dough balls made from potato flour) was ordered with vodka sauce and with a creamy pesto..both were excellent. Other pasta & apps to think about : -Mozzarella Mista--Fresh Mozzarella, Imported Prosciutto and Fire Roasted Peppers -Eggplant Rollatini--rolled with Ricotta Cheese, Baked in a Light Marinara Sauce and Topped with Melted Mozzarella -Scarola con Fagioli--Escarole and Bean Soup -Penne Monachina--Diced Eggplant, Fontina Cheese, & Toasted Pignoli Nuts in a Fresh Tomato and Basil Sauce Entrees I had the barramundi ( white fish from South Pacific) from the Specials, served with shitake mushrooms & capers....Awesome! Plenty of authentic desserts ( one of the best canolis I ever had..and I've had a few..LOL) The portions are Large and the prices are Very reasonable = Great Value! Small Italian restaurant in Allendale, NJ. Food is outrageous. Went with another couple and we all felt the same. Price was on the high side but afterwards we all felt it was appropriate. The dishes are not the normal you would encounter at a typical Italian restaurant buit was more elegant. The flavor was enticing and you wanted more. Many seafood dishes but mostly pastas. Unfortunately average food, leaving much to be desired. At first glance this place gives a great impression.- beautiful both outside and inside, classy, upscale ambiance, fancy fine dining (supposedly) in the heart of Bergen county. I came here for dinner because I was desperately looking for a restaurant with a private party room to host my wedding rehearsal dinner. That being said, I was eager to like the food. The service was impeccable and the drinks from the bar were delicious, but as our food started to come out I became more and more disappointed. The food here lacks flavor and presentation and just doesn't measure up to the image of the restaurant or the prices on the menu. I found myself looking around at the other tables wondering what everyone was so excited about. I know many people who enjoy coming here, and possibly even like the food, but sadly I am not one of them. I think there are better restaurants in the area and that people with more refined palates would be better suited to spend their money elsewhere. read more
